There are loads more, but you asked for the Top 5  Roll Eyes
13462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your story, how did you become interested in Bitcoin? on: December 07, 2015, 05:24:50 AM
The first time I heard about Bitcoin, was when I was standing in a shop and the guy in front of me asked, "Do you accept Bitcoin"
I had no idea what it was, and I did not want to look like a idiot, so I went home and I Googled it. Those few words, pulled me down the rabbit hole. I was hooked, when I grasped the whole concept.  Grin

Oh the lady in the shop replied, "No Sir, but my boss is looking into it."
13463  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the most expensive thing, you bought with Bitcoin? Does price matter? on: December 04, 2015, 07:00:04 AM
If a merchant accepts bitcoin, I prefer to pay with bitcoin, but I always make sure I buy back the bitcoins I used. This cancel the regret I might experience, if the price goes up in future. It is not always possible for the more expensive items, but I try.

I have reserve coins in cold storage for the big pay day when the price reach crazy levels and that would make up for all the bitcoin I have spend, when the price was lower. The opposite is also true, you might not spend it when the price was at it's current levels and it might drop to a few cents and you would regret not spending it, when it was $300.

None of us know what the future will bring, let's just enjoy the moment. ^LoL^

13464  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-03] Inventors: Bitcoin mining water heater is a groundbreaking idea on: December 04, 2015, 06:43:59 AM
Let's be positive about this. I think most people want to get back to solo mining, if it could be made profitable in some way. The utilization of the heat generated from mining and the cost saving derived from this operation, could just be the answer to making solo mining profitable again.

We all need to find innovative ways to join technology to reduce the environmental impact Bitcoin mining have on this planet. If this heat was used and not wasted, people would be saving electricity and energy they would have used on a heating bill.
13465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Vixen Blythe Masters Chooses Startup Over Top Barclay's Position on: December 04, 2015, 06:22:29 AM
She is the <fiat cheerleader> every passionate Bitcoiner hates. She manifest the arrogance of the current financial system. Barclay's recently pushed for innovation in the Blockchain and Bitcoin environment and I think it goes against everything she stands for.

She is a worthy opponent against Bitcoin and we should follow her movements in the financial world.
13466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why arnt we seeing more bitcoin ATM popping up? on: December 04, 2015, 06:10:25 AM
I should say, Bitcoin Vending machines would be a better investment in countries where the regulations are less intense, because the regulations and the effort people have to go through at a Bitcoin ATM, would chase away customers. They are used to much less complicated Fiat ATM's and the Bitcoin ATM's is just too much effort.

Once again governments are putting stumbling blocks in the path of Bitcoin's progress. ^hmmm^
13467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can't believe i was able to register this bitcoin domain on: December 04, 2015, 05:56:37 AM
Let's be honest, who types out long addresses these days? You copy and paste it, and then you rely on auto complete to fill in the gaps, when you want to visit it again or you just add it as a favorite and go from there.

The long extension is no biggie, and I think you will do good with that one, if you hold onto it or do something nice with it. Well Done ^hmf^
13468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any news on whether the Queen or Vatican accept Bitcoin / Crypto on: December 04, 2015, 05:44:53 AM
should be about time the Pope did a sermon on coin, it is of course

going to deliver the freedoms religion has been promising for so long

 Cheesy
Good idea Smiley On a second thought I dont think it would be in the interest of bitcoin if we rope in religious leaders in cryptocurruncy Cheesy

You cannot be serious? If the Pope tweet about this once, you would reach about 10 000 000 Twitter followers.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/28/pope-francis-twitter_n_4170054.html

According to the Census of the 2015 Annuario Pontificio (Pontifical Yearbook), the number of Catholics in the world was about 1.254 billion at the end of 2013.

In my opinion, it would be the best thing to happen, if the Pope and the Catholic church supported it.

13469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin used to do money laundering - will it become a huge problem? on: December 04, 2015, 05:36:02 AM
In my country, if you are flagged as a possible money launderer, you have to go through a full life style audit, to explain how you maintain and fund your luxurious life style. If you cannot explain it, they will start a full investigation and you will eventually get caught.

The penalties for tax evasion is harsh and some people do some jail time. So it is not worth it. ^hmf^
13470  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-01] Bitcoin Heist: The Full Length Crypto-Themed Film on: December 03, 2015, 07:56:48 AM
It will be the first time, where Bitcoin would be center stage and not some quick reference in a TV series or movie. I hope this movie will be sub-titled and distributed to other countries too. It would be even better, if we could get it on Netflix. In time, we might see Bitcoin being used for good things, not just criminal activities. A Bitcoin comedy would top the charts.

Hope to see it soon. ^hmf^
13471  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-01] Did ISIS really use bitcoin to fund the Paris attacks? on: December 03, 2015, 07:01:58 AM
What would they have been funding with Bitcoin? There are many established communities within Paris where they could have blend in, without being noticed. The local community have established businesses and they could fund these operations from the income from some of these businesses.

There are also Muslim extremist, who were converted from other religions, who might be working with them. Do you still remember the <White Widow> Samantha Lewthwaite, a British citizen? She was rumoured to be the mastermind behind the Kenya shopping mall attack.

These people go under the radar and fund these attacks with normal fiat, not Bitcoin.   Angry
13472  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What is the next MtGox? on: December 03, 2015, 06:27:15 AM
It will be from a service not regulated by their governments. Some countries already started to protect the consumers from scams and fraudulent activities like this, and the exchanges will face heavy penalties, if this does happen.

It is a political nightmare for a country, if a unregulated service scams multi millions from people on a global scale. The service will also have to take out extra insurance, to cover some of the loss, if this does happen.  Roll Eyes
13473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A flaw in bitcoin, if it became widely adopted 21m bitcoins, 7b people on planet on: December 03, 2015, 05:59:39 AM
I wonder what people will call a Satoshi, if the comma needs to be shifted? I am not saying, it will be a immediate need, but we should be debating this, in the event that this needs to be done. Any suggestions ? If Gavin & Mike succeeded in taking control over development, it might have been 1 x Gavi or 1 x Mikey.

Just fooling around, do not get your panties in a bundle. ^hmf^
13474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hong Kong Conference!! on: December 03, 2015, 05:46:25 AM
"Large block promoters such as Gavin Andresen have so far failed to come up with any evidence that their scaling solution is anything but a fairly simple tradeoff of increasing centralization for cheaper transactions."

" Gavin Andresen, bitcoin’s long-time maintainer and one of the community’s oldest and most visible developers, has said he will not be traveling to Hong Kong. "

" Also absent will be developer and new R3 employee Mike Hearn "

They would rather stay, where they have the biggest support for their BIP  Roll Eyes They started the whole thing, and now they are standing back and laughing at the whole division they created. The irony of Life.  Roll Eyes
13475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple CEO Tim Cook: “Your kids will not know what money is” on: December 03, 2015, 05:35:25 AM
There will be enough fiat money in museums for them to look at, and if you really worried about that, just collect some now and keep it in a bottle somewhere. It's value will increase with 1% every 20 years, if you lucky.
Kids will not miss something they did not know, it would be this generation that would miss it.

13476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone called me who has 300 Casascius series 1 bitcoins to sell on: December 03, 2015, 05:29:30 AM
You assume that he has coins to sell. What if this was only a call to confirm that you have calls or some prep work for a long scam. You never divulge how many coins you have, because it makes you a target. Next time he calls you, just hang up or call the authorities.

The scammers will come up with any excuse to hook you into doing and saying what they want you to hear.

13477  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: signature for the position newbie ?? on: December 02, 2015, 08:34:11 AM
I am in the YoBits signature campaign at the moment, unfortunately, only Jr. Member+ are able to join it, which you would need to get your activity to 30 to reach Jr. Member. However, with the YB campaign, Jr. Members are paid ~70 bits (7000 satoshis) per constructive post with a maximum payout of 20x posts per week, but as long as you upgrade your signature as you rank up, it seems to take that into account and push you into the higher payrates. So in the meantime, all I can really suggest is continue to make constructive posts to bring up your activity to become a Jr. Member and then more signature campaigns will open up to you.. Smiley
Is it true that 7000 satoshi per post?
Wow I am very interest in joining a profit but to achieve Jr. Member I need a long time  Undecided Undecided

It doesn't really take quite so long to get to Jr. Mem, although I believe that you are limited to a max 14 activity per fortnight (2 weeks), so as long as you post constructively regularly, you should be able to get to Jr. Member after enduring Newbie for a minimum of roughly 28 days.. Smiley ..and the YoBits payment schedule is as follows (and they are strict about posts being constructive as they do actively ban members that are seemingly spamming posts to make bank, a post being constructive is basically a post being conducive to the topic at hand and having value to the conversation, non-constructive posts would be like one word replies or a reply with little or no value to the topic really):

★☆★ YoBit.Net Payment Structure ★☆★

Newbies aren't permitted to join this campaign anymore
★ JR Member:            0.00007 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.
★ Member:                 0.00013 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.
★ Full Member:           0.00020 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.
★ Sr Member:             0.00030 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.
★ Hero Member:         0.00030 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.
★ Legendary Member: 0.00030 BTC per constructive post. 20 Posts max per day.

YoBit spammers actually have a special thread dedicated to them on this forum :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1241968.0

If you intend to spam, you will get on the radar of the people monitoring that thread. Just do some proper research first and post constructively and do not spam, it is not worth it. You will not go up in rank quicker, by posting 30 to 50 posts a day.

The last thing we need, is for newbies to spam the forum with non-constructive posting. They should bring back the newbie jail concept for these people, to give them time to read the information provided here and to stop double posting of the same topics.
13478  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: December 02, 2015, 06:49:29 AM
Passive income is definitely the way to go, and I think that was mostly the attraction to cloud mining. You buy some "ghashes" and you wait for your ROI. Then you spoil yourself, when the profit stage begins. Some people do reach that stage, until the incoming capital dry up and the Ponzi scheme collapse. <GAW>

Passive income needs regular maintenance and monitoring to guarantee a steady income, with very little effort. If you give this NO attention, it might just dry up.
13479  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-01] Scaling Bitcoin Gears up for Hong Kong on: December 02, 2015, 06:30:24 AM
Anyone know if Gavin and his gang is going to pitch up there? They surely put a hand out to all the developers from all sides. The previous event, was backed by the merchants and this one seems to be more about the mining side of things.

It would be nice to have all parties included in these discussions and to not have a one-sided debate. Hong Kong is the perfect venue for this kind of event.  Cool
13480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS is not satisfied with bitcoin, they made their own currency on: December 02, 2015, 06:14:59 AM
The thing is, would somebody buy their coins?
Because many people don't trust them(because they are evil), then who want to store their coins?

Unfortunately there are enough fans of IS, i can ensure you even in your near surroundings.

I think it might lead to draw away suspicion from bitcoin. Though cryptocurrencies as a whole might become attackable.

I would like to differ from you in saying that something linked to Crypto currencies, would actually draw attention to Bitcoin, because it would fall in the same category. There are already voices in many countries supporting the banning of all encrypted technologies.

The positive thing about this, is that these Alt coins would not be backed by a large network and Anonymous could target them, and take them down, wherever they would be trading.  Roll Eyes
