13461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto found and is homeless? on: January 12, 2016, 12:28:53 PM
Small things amuse small minds, or so they say. The trend these days are to pick a catchy title and to add some garbage, just as long as it draw in the "clicks" Do not even waste your time on this, because it's complete garbage. This type of content is a total waste of electricity. Let's call it <Digital Waste>

Satoshi is dead, deal with it.  Roll Eyes
13462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Analysis and list of top big blocks shills (XT #REKT ignorers) on: January 12, 2016, 12:21:27 PM
Whoever thought that the idea to implement a competing BIP with dire consequences to the privacy of the Bitcoin users, must be stir crazy. I would rather kick the can down the road and not bend the knee to make sacrifices to my privacy. We need a scalable alternative without these funny add-on's.

The two parties should come together and see where they could compromise on both sides and implement that solution and
consensus will be reached.
13463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I purchase powerball lottery with bitcoin? on: January 12, 2016, 05:36:10 AM
Is there any reason, why you would only want to participate in the Powerball lottery? I know it has a massive jackpot, but you could settle for one of the smaller lottery on one of the Bitcoin gambling sites. Just check in the gambling section.

There is even some kind of lottery on some of the faucet sites, for example freebitco.in where you could win up to 3 BTC weekly. The odds of winning one of these are more in your favor than winning the Powerball.
13464  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature campaign is good? on: January 12, 2016, 05:30:53 AM
First off, this type of questions should be asked in this section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0 and you have to work on your English language skills, before you start posting. The people on the forum might get frustrated with your posts and they might report you to moderators, if you post non-constructive posts.

A good start would be to see if you can find a signature campaign that allows for you to post in one of the sub-forums, where your native language are used, and to post there.  Huh
13465  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-10] Bitcoin.org Violates its Mission Statement to Censor Coinbase on: January 11, 2016, 09:34:34 AM
Coinbase is not Bitcoin friendly in any way. They take away any kind of financial freedom with their AML & KYC adherence and now they support a BIP proposal that infringe on privacy on a protocol level. Why do you think banks are interested in investing with them?

In my opinion, Coinbase is a wolf in Sheep clothing. ^hmmm^
13466  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-11] Bitcoin Remains Stable As South African Rand Loses Value on: January 11, 2016, 09:00:42 AM
Did this happen due to the impact China has or rather poor government leadership? We have noted that the Minister of Finance was replaced and then the replacement got replaced within a few days. That country has some serious political problems with government leaders making political decisions and favoring party loyalists.

I still work on contracts there for my company and in other African countries, but things are getting weird in South Africa. They make the strangest decisions and seem to support Chinese and Russian companies more that Western companies these days.

It is still a lovely country with good people and I like to travel there, when the company ask me to.
13467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share with us all Satoshi's quotes on: January 11, 2016, 08:30:31 AM
Of all the things said, this one is my favorite : " Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts. Their massive overhead costs make micropayments impossible. "

The whole trust relationship with banks are the biggest stumbling block for many people to accept that Bitcoin is the freedom they want and should have.
13468  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2016, 08:06:01 AM
Baby steps, that is how I describe my future plans with Bitcoin. I have a mountain of debt that needs to be paid. We had some medical problems and the health insurance did not cover the whole claim. I want to pay off that debt and then start building for a early retirement.

I do not trust my current fiat based pension fund, and wants to supplement it with bitcoins as a backup plan.
13469  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: January 11, 2016, 08:00:16 AM
I would take $900 000 of that and pay my credit card debt. Nah, just joking. ^smile^ Seriously, I would pay off my debt first, because the interest on that debt is way more than the interest I would receive, IF I invested it. Then I would buy some bitcoin and also go on a paid holiday for the first time in years.

During this time, I will decide what I would be doing with the rest of the money.
13470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ever dreamed about Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2016, 07:47:55 AM
I used to have dreams about Tetris, a arcade game I played when I was younger. The frustration to solve the puzzles kept on going, even when you went to bed. I think our brains are wired to work that way, to solve problems even when we are dreaming.

I had a Bitcoin dream a few months back, but it was very short. I can just remember something about a physical wallet and me opening the wallet and bitcoins falling out, as in physical coins. Not the digital version generated on the Blockchain.  Huh
13471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australian Bank Westpac Invests Millions in Coinbase on: January 11, 2016, 07:38:29 AM
We have been receiving a lot of conflicting reports from the Australian banks. One the one hand, they are banning the accounts of people dealing with Bitcoin and they are fighting companies in regards to anti-competitive practices and now they are investing in Bitcoin companies. This is getting very weird.
13472  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: December 10, 2015, 07:30:23 AM
Going on a short holiday with the family to relatives on a farm, hoping I can get access to the internet during this time. If I am less active during this period, do not kick me from the campaign, please. Just need to take a break for a little while, but if I get reception, I will drop in.

Hope everyone have a great time over this festive season and you all come back refreshed for a better 2016. ^hmf^

Thank you, for a great 2015.
13473  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-09] Time: The One Big Reason Why It Matters Who Invented Bitcoin on: December 10, 2015, 06:45:23 AM
I cannot see how they can link a value to those coins, if a once off dump would crash the price, and it would be worth much less than it is now. Even if 1 bitcoin is spend and it gets picked up by the Bitcoin community, the price will drop, because a lot of people would start selling, in anticipation of a once off dump.

This is a lot more complex than what most people think. The best thing for all of us, is if Satoshi would just burn those coins and he or she or they or it, sell the coins they mined after that.
13474  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-09] Redditor Offers $38,000 in Bitcoin to Pro Magic Player on: December 10, 2015, 06:33:10 AM
I am not a huge board game fan, but I want to understand the principle behind this. You pay other people to burn their cards, to diminish the supply and to increase the value of your selected card, right? So these cards are printed in limited quantities, right?

The collectors value of the card should obviously be much more valuable than the amount being paid to destroy the rest of these cards.

Interesting concept, and I am glad Bitcoin is linked to this whole card trading scene now. Once something like this happens, a lot of people could start adopting Bitcoin for the same thing.

How secure is the Escrow service linked to this transaction?
13475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theory: Which other cryptocurrency would people choose if Bitcoin would fail? on: December 10, 2015, 06:15:34 AM
I will just wait it out, until they patched it and continue as normal. The only thing Bitcoin could not recover from, is if it had to change most of the major rules, like the max amount of coins being changed or the security being compromised that would reveal the private key. I think ethereum and Ripple would take off, if Microsoft and banks start to support it aggressively.
13476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long will 1 year 25 weeks take to download (file size?) on: December 10, 2015, 06:02:06 AM
This is the stupid part of this whole technology. Imagine if VISA had to tell their customers to download something, that would take them 1 week and loads of bandwidth, before they could use the service. Yes, I know there are other alternatives to using the technology, but it's hardcore to explain this to a newbie.

In countries with capped internet and slow data lines, this is not even a option. <Once again, under developed countries, with poor infrastructure are excluded>
13477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL Is Craig Wright Satoshi Nakamoto? on: December 10, 2015, 05:54:21 AM
I voted no doubt, he's not Satoshi. I think it's pretty obvious as why would satoshi, who is trying to hide his identity so desperately, make a youtube video publicly about bitcoins?

Something is just not right.

It's not entirely impossible that it could happen that way. Many gay people stay hidden for years and suddenly come out of the closet, and then their whole persona change, and they react in a total opposite way, than they did before. Not saying Wright is gay, but just using the example of how people can change.

Time for Satoshi, to come out of the closet. ^heh^
13478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gmaxwell proves Craig Wright is a fraud on: December 10, 2015, 05:46:06 AM
Craig Wright could have been impersonating satoshi for almost 2 years, in order to con private investors.

"Only you know I'm the creator of Bitcoin, don't tell anyone.  I have a billion dollars worth of bitcoins, but I can't use them until 2020.  That's why I need all your money for this Bitcoin Bank.  You can trust me, I'm already a billionaire."

That would explain why he created fake evidence in 2013 but kept it secret.  This public exposure could have come from his over-excited investors, or maybe he's throwing his net a little wider to see how much more he can get before it falls apart.

This is certainly possible. The data so far indicates one of the follow is true.

1) Craig Wright is Satoshi

or

2) This is a conspiracy involving multiple individuals in different countries trying to convince us that he is.

or

3) This one of the longest cons ever and Craig Wright started laying the groundwork to convince people he was Satoshi back in 2013.

Personally based on the information presented in the wired and gizmodo articles I lean towards #1 lots of compelling circumstantial evidence there. However #3 is not impossible especially if you can establish a definite profit motive for setting up such a fraud in 2013.

For #3 I don't really get what would be the point. Pretending to be Satoshi (and therefore to own 1 million bitcoins) would IMO cause a lot of problems for too little rewards.

There are a lot of people, who go to jail for something someone else did, because the person who did the crime, had  money to pay. People sell their kidney for money, why would they not go to jail for someone else?

The only thing they can charge him with, could be tax evasion on capital gains, and that would not stand up in court, because he did not receive any monetary reward from those coins yet. He should have declared the commodity, but what value does he use as a reference?

I think, he did this for the fame and it is a complete hoax. ^hmf^
13479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you can ask one question for the bitcoin creator to answer, what would it be? on: December 10, 2015, 05:36:09 AM
I think the most important question would have to be, "What are you going to do with your 1 000 000 bitcoins?" The answer to that question, will have a significant impact on Bitcoins future. If he convert to fiat, the price per bitcoin would drop drastically.

The decision to hoard, would give investors and speculators a opportunity to invest.
13480  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-12-09] Reported bitcoin 'founder' home raided by Australian police on: December 09, 2015, 07:08:46 AM
If I have to take a guess, they were looking for his private keys for the 1 million bitcoins. How many agents are going to be arrested for stealing coins after this raid? It was to be expected and we might be seeing some tax charges being filed, if they find anything.

Let's say for one moment, Wright is Satoshi, would it not be more suitable to protect him? He will after all be the greatest inventor in this century. He will be the financial Einstein of the world. Strange how governments attack people like these.  Roll Eyes
