13481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Law Enforcement and Regulators Agree: Bitcoin Not Useful for Terrorists on: December 02, 2015, 05:47:27 AM
At last someone comments about this subject with some common sense, and not ill informed media hype going around, being re-packaged as facts. The current methods to get fiat to bitcoin and bitcoin to fiat, allow for many ways to identify possible terrorists.

The easiest way would have been to use cash or precious gems on the black markets. Why go through all the trouble to register for services, that might just be a honey trap? The media is so gullible, and will spread these rumors, without proper investigation.
13482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are the banks corrupting Bitcoin? on: December 02, 2015, 05:38:35 AM
I think the best example was the collaboration between the banks in Australia, where they closed business accounts linked to Bitcoin. They have since been taken to court for anti-competitive practices. They can repeat this kind of behavior, in countries where citizens are not protected against that type of actions.

It is still necessary to convert to fiat, and they know it. In future as more merchants accept bitcoin, things might change, and we would not need a account with them. They can accept it and work with us, or we will increase our efforts to take them out of the circle, like they did with the millions of unbanked people in this world.
13483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC charges Joshua Garza for conducting a Ponzi scheme and defrauding investors on: December 02, 2015, 05:28:20 AM
The GAW's and the ghashes episodes is done now, we can only learn from our mistakes. I think Gavin's statement at one stage, that said "All cloud mining is probably Ponzi scheme's" took the lead in the ending of most of these scams. He had a cult following and they shill'ed the shit out of rumours going around, that it was a Ponzi.

Fingers burned, lesson learned. ^hmf^
13484  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe in Crisis on: December 01, 2015, 09:20:40 AM
The EU kept a lot of these smaller countries from collapse for years now and the stronger nations are carrying the smaller ones. The immigrants is just a small bump in the road, and with or without them, terrorism will still have existed.

One thing is certain, the current economic system will not be able to drag these smaller countries forever and they will eventually fall. ^hmf^

They might even drag these bigger countries down, when they do. As we have seen with the bailouts being given to Greece, even though they know the inevitable will happen in the future.
13485  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-30] Estonian High Court Asks Government to Clarify Bitcoin Stance on: December 01, 2015, 09:02:06 AM
It is never a good idea to challenge the state or government like that, but when it comes down to your bread and butter, it gets ugly. I find that it is better to work with the government and to educate them on the advantages of working with Bitcoin. Things like new job opportunities and tourism income.

The government obviously have a issue with Bitcoin, and it would need to be sorted out, for them to operate in a good environment.
13486  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-30] Greece says hackers hit banks with bitcoin ransom demand on: December 01, 2015, 07:38:28 AM
Well it is one of two things, One > The Bank shills at work to discredit Bitcoin again OR Two > It is really a threat and the hackers are targeting the banks. I struggle to find any sympathy for them, after the way they handled the citizens in that country during the Greek economic crisis.

I am not saying, what the hackers are doing is right, but I will not shed a tear if it happens. They should feel how it feels to normal people, to lose control of your own business to a third party.

It is still a criminal act, and the people responsible would have to take responsibility for their actions. Our whole community will be tainted, if it turns out to be one of our own.  Sad
13487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you buy on bitcoin black Friday? on: December 01, 2015, 07:25:54 AM
I bought a trezor hardware wallet for my wife and I bought some discounted beer for myself at the local bar. So by Xmas, my gift to myself would have been pissed away and my wife would be bragging about her new wallet. ^hmf^
I did not want to go too crazy, because I know the price will go up in 2016 and I do not want to miss out on that.

I will be buying myself the GoPro when the price hits $500  Roll Eyes
13488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Did you download the BTC blockchain for personal use ? on: December 01, 2015, 07:13:36 AM
To answer your question, Yes at first I did download the whole bloody thing and it took my over 3 days, with my slow internet. I think it is one of the major flaws, if you can call it that, in Bitcoin. People with poor internet infrastructure should not even attempt it. They should create some Bip protected paper wallets and store bigger amounts in there and then use the online wallets for small amounts.

People with fast uncapped internet, will not understand this frustration.  Roll Eyes
13489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are the banks corrupting Bitcoin? on: December 01, 2015, 07:04:03 AM
For one thing, they do have enough money to corrupt or bribe major developers to work for them. They can also influence them to design and develop a competing technology, that might replace Bitcoin and then influence the government to support that.

In this world, money can buy you almost anything, because most people have their price.  Angry
13490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin activist refuses to leave anyone out in the cold this holiday season! on: December 01, 2015, 06:58:23 AM
Let's keep the flaming down and talk about the OP's topic. Scam or not, it is still a good idea to involve unemployed street kids to do the work. I would want to see some proof of that to buy into this, with all the scam accusations flying around. The hooded scarfs looks nice and cosy. ^hmf^

If I do support this, I would want to see my money going to a good cause.

I am clueless to what I did wrong and how to improve, if it was in fact a legitimate reason why it was deleted. I read every thread from top to bottom and post something new and constructive, when I do decide to reply.

How can we improve, if we do not receive any explanation on what we did wrong?

Dont post in self mod threads. There is nothing you have to do wrong in order for your posts there to get deleted. The person starting the thread can just delete them because the day is sunny (or rainy) or their coffee was unusual cold.

So you saying, someone or a group of people created self moderated threads all over the place and then decided to delete 22 posts in one shot? Why would they want to do that? I do not disagree with your statement shorena, but I do find it strange that it would be such a big coincidence.

I will be looking at that closely from now on, because I cannot waste my time and energy, I could have spend with my family on creating constructive posting and it getting deleted for no apparent reason.

I only post a couple of times during the week and I skip weekends, so I am no way spamming or doing something wrong.  Huh
13492  Other / Meta / Re: Massive deleting post on: November 30, 2015, 09:17:06 AM
Something is definitely fishy here. I just checked and someone deleted 22 of my posts in one day. I have read through all of them, and I cannot see why it was deleted. I always post on topic and all of them, have the same reason < Self moderated topic..... > This is definitely not the case with all of them.

Example :

They could not have chosen a better partner, Naspers is huge in South Africa and on the forefront of technology. They have interest in cellphones <MTN> and subscription/pay television <Multichoice> and news papers and loads more.

I've never heard about them. Do you live in South Africa?

I am a international citizen, but I spend a lot of my time in Africa too. The company I work for sends us all over the world, and we work for 4 to 6 months in a country and then we move location to the next. I am currently working in Africa, but our Head Office is in the UK.

My company did some work for the NASPERS group and we used a internet service provider called Mweb for our internet access. They have shares in some of the biggest roleplayers in Africa and are very well placed as a stepping stone for eCommerce / Print media / Television / internet within the African continent.

This is a huge partnership for BitX and will open up a lot of Bitcoin business opportunities with huge potential.

Watch this space, Bitcoin is going to grow a lot faster and bigger in Africa with this partnership. I see their shares price is good too, so I might invest a bit after this news.  Grin

13493  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: November 30, 2015, 06:45:08 AM
I have the same thing. From the last payment date < 23/11/2015 to 30/11/2015 > I posted 25+ posts and I got paid $1.06 US.  Huh All posts was within the rules stipulated by this campaign. Where did things go wrong? None of the rules has changed, so it must be something wrong with the bot.

Can you please look into this?

===================================================================================

I figured it out, there are nothing wrong with the bot. A legendary member of the forum deleted whole self moderated threads, when he/she did not get paid for his/her signature campaign and took all of our posts with him/her. This influenced my final statistics read by the bot.

Sorry for the panic, but I thought I was doing something wrong.  Roll Eyes
13494  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-24] Lipisha and Bitpesa Sue Safaricom For Cutting Off Access To M-Pesa on: November 30, 2015, 06:24:52 AM
It just shows you how centralized entities can govern their own rule and make decisions that benefit them. This is a wonderful example why decentralization is very important. No single service can make stupid decisions to stop or block any services. M-Pesa is a competing technology and it has been around, even before Bitcoin was developed.

Let's just hope the courts finds in favor of Bitpesa. ^hmf^
13495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Factory pre-installed malware threaten Bitcoin users and privacy on: November 30, 2015, 06:09:29 AM
It's not just with mobile phones, it happens with other hardware platforms too. Lenovo, the notebook manufacturer has been caught for the 3rd time, distributing spyware with new notebooks. The Superfish malware assists hackers to gain access to your computer.

13496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: November 30, 2015, 05:43:19 AM
I think, I must have over 150 addresses to date... I create a new address for every new service I use and I test all
wallets online, with a unique address. How can you evaluate a service or a wallet provider, if you have not tried all of
them. I also created 100's of paper wallets and then destroyed the computer it was created on.

I also use some honey pot addresses, to trigger traps on my desktops. {unprotected addresses with small amounts of coins}  Grin
13497  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What things you want to Buy or Sell for Bitcoin ? but you can't! on: November 30, 2015, 05:37:39 AM
My favorite bar did not accept Bitcoin, until I got some friends together to "lobby" for Bitcoin acceptance. They had
to bend under severe pressure from us for weeks.  Roll Eyes If there is a service or a merchant that does not accept bitcoin, you must get people in your meetups to phone them and harass them until they accept it.

They will not do it on their own. I wanted to buy my favorite draft beer with bitcoin and I forced for it.
13498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guns from the Paris Attacks, bought using Bitcoin ? on: November 30, 2015, 05:28:23 AM
Every time the Dark Web is mentioned, people immediately accept that Bitcoin was associated with it, they would not have used stolen credit cards or hacked PayPal accounts...

No No No.... it has to be Bitcoin. So if these guys, went there and they did odd jobs for cash and they used that cash to buy knifes and they stabbed people to death... would

they have made accusations against cash or the store where it was bought? Guess not... It's just that Bitcoin is special.
No gun illegal gun merchant would accept stolen credit cards or hacked Paypal accounts. And they've already arrested the illegal gun merchant. And terrorists would most likely not use a regular gun shot. Because, you know, they're terrorists.

You have any proof of that? In my country, you can buy a gun on the streets without a credit card or PayPal and
nobody will ask any questions. How would a gun shop owner know it is a stolen credit card, if it is accompanied with
a fake ID document? All these things can be bought online.  Roll Eyes
13499  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-26] Bitcoin Price Surges by 12%, Setting Weekly High on: November 27, 2015, 05:50:14 AM
This is not going to last long. The Black Friday event will definitely have a downward pressure on the price today. I predict at least a 10% drop in the price over the weekend. Lots of people are already gearing up to buy lots of stuff for Xmas and you will have a over supply of old coins on the exchanges.

Please people, only spend within your limits and keep some for the predicted spike in 2016.  Roll Eyes
13500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is having a nice day. Did China find another hack? on: November 27, 2015, 05:45:08 AM
I think it might be a pump before the Black Friday event running in the USA. The higher the price, the more things you would be able to buy. Or it hedge against a possible drop in the price, when more coins come back into circulation on the exchange. Let's hope those coins get absorbed quickly. ^hmf^
