13481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin activist refuses to leave anyone out in the cold this holiday season! on: December 01, 2015, 06:58:23 AM
Let's keep the flaming down and talk about the OP's topic. Scam or not, it is still a good idea to involve unemployed street kids to do the work. I would want to see some proof of that to buy into this, with all the scam accusations flying around. The hooded scarfs looks nice and cosy. ^hmf^

If I do support this, I would want to see my money going to a good cause.

I am clueless to what I did wrong and how to improve, if it was in fact a legitimate reason why it was deleted. I read every thread from top to bottom and post something new and constructive, when I do decide to reply.

How can we improve, if we do not receive any explanation on what we did wrong?

Dont post in self mod threads. There is nothing you have to do wrong in order for your posts there to get deleted. The person starting the thread can just delete them because the day is sunny (or rainy) or their coffee was unusual cold.

So you saying, someone or a group of people created self moderated threads all over the place and then decided to delete 22 posts in one shot? Why would they want to do that? I do not disagree with your statement shorena, but I do find it strange that it would be such a big coincidence.

I will be looking at that closely from now on, because I cannot waste my time and energy, I could have spend with my family on creating constructive posting and it getting deleted for no apparent reason.

I only post a couple of times during the week and I skip weekends, so I am no way spamming or doing something wrong.  Huh
13483  Other / Meta / Re: Massive deleting post on: November 30, 2015, 09:17:06 AM
Something is definitely fishy here. I just checked and someone deleted 22 of my posts in one day. I have read through all of them, and I cannot see why it was deleted. I always post on topic and all of them, have the same reason < Self moderated topic..... > This is definitely not the case with all of them.

They could not have chosen a better partner, Naspers is huge in South Africa and on the forefront of technology. They have interest in cellphones <MTN> and subscription/pay television <Multichoice> and news papers and loads more.

I've never heard about them. Do you live in South Africa?

I am a international citizen, but I spend a lot of my time in Africa too. The company I work for sends us all over the world, and we work for 4 to 6 months in a country and then we move location to the next. I am currently working in Africa, but our Head Office is in the UK.

My company did some work for the NASPERS group and we used a internet service provider called Mweb for our internet access. They have shares in some of the biggest roleplayers in Africa and are very well placed as a stepping stone for eCommerce / Print media / Television / internet within the African continent.

This is a huge partnership for BitX and will open up a lot of Bitcoin business opportunities with huge potential.

Watch this space, Bitcoin is going to grow a lot faster and bigger in Africa with this partnership. I see their shares price is good too, so I might invest a bit after this news.  Grin

13484  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: November 30, 2015, 06:45:08 AM
I have the same thing. From the last payment date < 23/11/2015 to 30/11/2015 > I posted 25+ posts and I got paid $1.06 US.  Huh All posts was within the rules stipulated by this campaign. Where did things go wrong? None of the rules has changed, so it must be something wrong with the bot.

Can you please look into this?

===================================================================================

I figured it out, there are nothing wrong with the bot. A legendary member of the forum deleted whole self moderated threads, when he/she did not get paid for his/her signature campaign and took all of our posts with him/her. This influenced my final statistics read by the bot.

Sorry for the panic, but I thought I was doing something wrong.  Roll Eyes

It just shows you how centralized entities can govern their own rule and make decisions that benefit them. This is a wonderful example why decentralization is very important. No single service can make stupid decisions to stop or block any services. M-Pesa is a competing technology and it has been around, even before Bitcoin was developed.

Let's just hope the courts finds in favor of Bitpesa. ^hmf^
13486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Factory pre-installed malware threaten Bitcoin users and privacy on: November 30, 2015, 06:09:29 AM
It's not just with mobile phones, it happens with other hardware platforms too. Lenovo, the notebook manufacturer has been caught for the 3rd time, distributing spyware with new notebooks. The Superfish malware assists hackers to gain access to your computer.

13487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin address you have right now? why you have more than one? on: November 30, 2015, 05:43:19 AM
I think, I must have over 150 addresses to date... I create a new address for every new service I use and I test all
wallets online, with a unique address. How can you evaluate a service or a wallet provider, if you have not tried all of
them. I also created 100's of paper wallets and then destroyed the computer it was created on.

I also use some honey pot addresses, to trigger traps on my desktops. {unprotected addresses with small amounts of coins}  Grin
13488  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What things you want to Buy or Sell for Bitcoin ? but you can't! on: November 30, 2015, 05:37:39 AM
My favorite bar did not accept Bitcoin, until I got some friends together to "lobby" for Bitcoin acceptance. They had
to bend under severe pressure from us for weeks.  Roll Eyes If there is a service or a merchant that does not accept bitcoin, you must get people in your meetups to phone them and harass them until they accept it.

They will not do it on their own. I wanted to buy my favorite draft beer with bitcoin and I forced for it.
13489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guns from the Paris Attacks, bought using Bitcoin ? on: November 30, 2015, 05:28:23 AM
Every time the Dark Web is mentioned, people immediately accept that Bitcoin was associated with it, they would not have used stolen credit cards or hacked PayPal accounts...

No No No.... it has to be Bitcoin. So if these guys, went there and they did odd jobs for cash and they used that cash to buy knifes and they stabbed people to death... would

they have made accusations against cash or the store where it was bought? Guess not... It's just that Bitcoin is special.
No gun illegal gun merchant would accept stolen credit cards or hacked Paypal accounts. And they've already arrested the illegal gun merchant. And terrorists would most likely not use a regular gun shot. Because, you know, they're terrorists.

You have any proof of that? In my country, you can buy a gun on the streets without a credit card or PayPal and
nobody will ask any questions. How would a gun shop owner know it is a stolen credit card, if it is accompanied with
a fake ID document? All these things can be bought online.  Roll Eyes
13490  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-26] Bitcoin Price Surges by 12%, Setting Weekly High on: November 27, 2015, 05:50:14 AM
This is not going to last long. The Black Friday event will definitely have a downward pressure on the price today. I predict at least a 10% drop in the price over the weekend. Lots of people are already gearing up to buy lots of stuff for Xmas and you will have a over supply of old coins on the exchanges.

Please people, only spend within your limits and keep some for the predicted spike in 2016.  Roll Eyes
13491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is having a nice day. Did China find another hack? on: November 27, 2015, 05:45:08 AM
I think it might be a pump before the Black Friday event running in the USA. The higher the price, the more things you would be able to buy. Or it hedge against a possible drop in the price, when more coins come back into circulation on the exchange. Let's hope those coins get absorbed quickly. ^hmf^
13492  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-26]Running Bitcoin node just got cheaper with the $5 Raspberry Pi Zero on: November 27, 2015, 05:42:43 AM
The question would be, if there is a big enough market for this? The true Bitcoin enthusiast will buy this as a must have gadget, but the normal consumers will not see the value of this. They have no interest to secure the network.
In it's favor are the fact that it is fairly cheap, so it can fit into everyday gadgets, without the users even knowing that they buying into this. They simply buy the appliance with some extra features.
13493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The People's Budget on: November 27, 2015, 05:36:50 AM
Just as long as you pay what is due, you should not have any problems. We have a different system and it is a lot less complicated than yours. I find when people exploit loopholes, these types of things are quickly picked up by the IRS and they close those gaps over time.

It's like a Anaconda - It push, every time you breath out, and you die slowly.
13494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could you share Your first time BTC Experience? on: November 27, 2015, 05:29:58 AM
I handled my first bitcoin very poorly, because I just bought it and I got quite paranoid on where to store it safely. There were a lot of hacking going around and people were complaining about breaches in online wallets. Yes, I did store my first coins in online wallets.

I still have those coins and they safely tucked away in cold storage.
13495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One Bitcoin on: November 27, 2015, 05:26:40 AM
Congrats, it feels good because you worked hard for it, I presume. Now onto the next 20 and you would be set for life.  Roll Eyes Just make sure that you use a better method to store your coins. Have at least 50% of you coins in cold storage.

There is always a risk with third parties. ^hmf^
13496  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-25] Barclays: Experimenting with Both Permissioned and Permissionless on: November 26, 2015, 05:48:21 AM
That is very good news. At least one bank can see the danger of investing in a highly insecure and untested environment like the permissioned / private Blockchains. Bitcoin is far superior and it has been through serious testing to be able to do the job.

Let's hope they follow the call to support Permissionless Blockchains.
13497  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-25] Bitcoin Saves Africa: Nigeria’s Bank Prohibits Foreign Banknotes De on: November 26, 2015, 05:41:28 AM
Nigeria have a crazy history with corruption and to make things worst, major oil deposits have been found in that area, so it's natural that the corruption levels will go up. Politicians making these decisions will accept bribes and the easiest thing would be to find a way to get that money out of the country as soon as possible.

They do use other digital / mobile payment methods like M-Pesa, but it's linked to mobile phones and could be traced via the centralized cellphone operators to the corrupt officials.
13498  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-25] Over 150 retailers will offer discounts for the Bitcoin Black Frida on: November 26, 2015, 05:32:15 AM
Merchants who accepts Bitcoin as a payment method, have a advantage over other companies. They can use the lower fee's associated with Bitcoin payments to fund these massive discounts. The other companies still have to pay these high fee's and take a cut in their profits to enable them to offer these discounts. ^hmf^
13499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy anything with Bitcoin - Suggestion on: November 26, 2015, 05:27:53 AM
The words of OP are a big and strange wonder which cannot become true even if with the adoption of its model be involved all the community of bitcoiners and the people who will accept bitcoin (as it is told at the example at the main post) will be paid over the amount of value of "thing" which will be bought only for accepting the proposed transaction of OP. Leaving aside the mess and the confusion in him's thoughts I am giving below only one of the much probable situations that can be verified only for the first example given by him in which someone else pay a service for you and you pay him with bitcoin for the money spent by him from him's pocket.

Firstly the person who will buy for you the "thing" must be a bitcoiner (and normally cannot be - are to few the bitcoiners) otherwise for what is needed to him the bitcoin which will receive for him's service. He have not even the most little idea what is bitcoin and you can stay with him all the day to give arguments about the beauty of bitcoin and at the end for sure you will have this simple the question: What to do with it?

And if you will tell him that bitcoin one day will have high price he can ask: but you how do you know this? And if you will try to explain him the limit supply of it in market or the halving every four years or the spread of it every day more, he will see you like someone who is came from the moon. You will understand him's thoughts from him's face and will change discussion telling that bitcoin has big value and can be sold at to many exchanges. If you will tell that to have him's money must find a good exchange but needed to give a mountain of documents to be verified, that must be paid "fat" fees and that to change must have much more than the bitcoin had from you (which have paid to pay the everyday bread) because those are to few and go all for the fees he for sure will make the most normal question: why to make all these things when I can pay with my credit card and everything end within seconds.  Wink

A wall of text that makes no sense at all.  Huh You saying a person who use this service, has to be a bitcoiner? You get a lot of people who have been unbanked by banks, who would use this service and some users that ran into difficulties with other services like PayPal, but still need to buy something. I have only mentioned a few of the examples, why people might want to use this service, there is much more.

When someone blocks you from using your credit card or your PayPal account, what other options do you have? Currently there are very limited options and a service like this, could be the answer. ^hmf^
13500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Black Friday - Episode 4: A New Hope on: November 26, 2015, 05:18:10 AM
The net affect of Black Friday on the price of Bitcoin will be this :

The hoarders will release some coins to buy some of these items and the merchants will dump it via payment processors on exchanges to convert it to fiat. The supply of Bitcoin will increase and the need will be the same. This will push the price downwards.

After Black Friday, we will see a significant price drop. My guess would be at least $50 - $80.

We've never really seen a price drop due to increased sales.

Some merchants hold onto the BTC, some sell the next day, some sell instantly.

The volume out tends to be spread out pretty evenly, plus a lot of people buy straight BTC to give as presents/gifts!

That is just the thing, we never know what these merchants will do. I saw in another thread that over 150 merchants will be taking part in this and possibly even new retailers like Wallmart. If this happens, you would see a massive coin dump and these new companies would not hold on to their coins. They will convert everything to fiat and the price will drop. ^hmf^
