13561  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggest me a Bitcoin educational video/article on: November 01, 2015, 08:16:16 AM
So today I have decided to collect some usefull educational video and articles about bitcoin. I want to have a deeper understanding on what really is bitcoin and all the stuffs about it but I really don't know where to start.

Have you tried the Bitcoin Quiz? There are 51 questions and some of them are not easy if you are not sure about the technology:
https://99bitcoins.com/test-yourself-are-you-the-ultimate-bitcoin-expert

Do the quiz, see which one your got wrong. Read articiles on it and redo the quiz until you get all of them right  Smiley

I got 96% on the hard mode. Cool

Honestly, you only need to start with the whitepaper before going on looking for external sources for knowledge. In that way you'll have a better understanding of the terms you might encounter on such articles and links.
13562  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get free bitcoin? on: November 01, 2015, 08:13:02 AM
Investing in cheap, yet stable altcoins like BURST.

Once more people realize the potential (we are planning a new roadmap) it can go up drastically in price.

How can you call it stable? I asked in another thread about it's mining as its so small.  But if you look at this coin it keeps dropping long term - https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_burst

Don't take my word look at all or even 1 month on trading.  Its dipping not stable at all in my book.

That's why it's a bad idea to be long in altcoins because it always has the tendency to be a massive dumping ground. Roll Eyes
13563  Economy / Speculation / Re: What price should I buy at? on: November 01, 2015, 08:04:10 AM
Ended up buying 3BTC on Coinbase for $1013, don't get them until Nov 5

Hopefully the price goes up by then  Tongue

I sold 1BTC at $315 yesterday just for the lulz. Been looking forward for a price drop even up to sub-$300, but looks like this thing isn't even affected by bears at all!
13564  Economy / Speculation / Re: $350 is the new barrier? on: November 01, 2015, 08:02:23 AM
i'm OK with $320-$350 rather than $220-$250, but I heard something will happen by mid of November, I wonder what would that be? If it's good or bad for Bitcoin

As fat as I can remember, it has something to do with the block size issue. I could be wrong, but it seems that November wouldn't bring much news for us.

I do hope that you are right. I've read somewhere that there is this "secret" group that claims to know what will happen to BTC. I tried to search in FB group I ended up going to Nostradamus group  Grin

Nah the event is not so secret at all. They were pushing this conference ever since the XT vs Core issue sprung. I wonder, how would the market reacts if in case the discussion/debate ends into something finally, like increasing the block size limit?
13565  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 01, 2015, 07:58:51 AM
In the last few hours, Longs increased by $1 million to $24.1M on Bitfinex.
That explains latest price surge there..

Geez. looks like they don't want to end this run that easy eh? Btw, tarmi you still shorting this thing?
13566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it completely legal in the US to buy BTC on one exchange and sell on another? on: November 01, 2015, 07:16:48 AM
You should be good as long as you aren't trading high volumes of bitcoin because that could be a red flag for drug related activities or something along those lines.

Actually, you can do high volume trades PROVIDED that you will be submitting to all of the exchange's ToS and all the necessary regulations needed to make such transactions. You're all good once you did just that; no red flags or hassles.
13567  Economy / Economics / Re: Why people dump their Bitcoins ? on: November 01, 2015, 06:35:09 AM
the average user gets excited when the price goes up like it did this week, and they think its at its peak and its not going any higher so they sell.

Yup, weak hands often fall to bear traps, only to see that the price keeps on increasing after a small correction. Bitcoin was overbought at $330 that's why a correction was ideal. I'm confident at this price range. Cool
13568  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't go to the moon until I get paid on Monday darn it! on: November 01, 2015, 06:32:03 AM
Im in the same boat as op. Im really kinda hoping (sorry guys) we get sub 300 period on Monday then move forward. But ill still probably be throwing my money at it either way.

Small chance that it will happen before Monday, seeing that resistance is strong at $310. There was a flash crash yesterday and that was the best price I see available yesterday at around $305

13570  Economy / Economics / Re: Milion of BTC lost and Milion BTC in hand of few people. A danger? on: November 01, 2015, 06:19:03 AM
If the prices go up, I don't think we'll ever see someone with a large stash to sell in exchange for dollars. With fiat being more and more unstable, these people with large holdings would probably keep btc as is. Smiley
13571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The lack of newbie friendly tutorials on: November 01, 2015, 06:13:56 AM
There are a lot of newbie-friendly tutorials out there, you just need to take the time to search. It's not that everytime we will spoon-feed every new users just to learn. We will help as much as we can, but not at all times.
13572  Other / Meta / Re: Staff and Moderator accounts. on: November 01, 2015, 06:01:22 AM
The first step is to be a hero member+

The second step is to know alot about how bitcoin works and fuctions

The third step is to be fair

The fourth step is to
see a shooting star during a red, full moon, then you become moderator.

I've seen a Staff with only a Member rank. So point 1 is flawed. Reporting numerous posts with close to a hundred percent accurracy is I think the most important factor there, as it practices your judgment and the way how you would handle posts.
13573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Proposes Jail Sentence for Bitcoin Activities on: November 01, 2015, 05:58:27 AM
MAN. Why does Russia have to do this? Bitcoin is great and it doesn't do any harm to Russia. As Russia is a big part of the world's economy it may be quite harmful for bitcoin if Russia does this.

Russia is Russia. Will this affect bitcoin and how? I think not, because bitcoin is going to be the future, i dont understand why Russia wants to fight against it, and when they will realize that is better to join and support it than to fight against it.

Russia banning bitcoin won't affect the price that much. Also, see how Localbitcoins' volume in Russia is doing. You will be surprised how this banning affected bitcoin there. Grin
13574  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: November 01, 2015, 05:56:30 AM
I guess it's time to have a new title after legendary. :v

I'll get there someday, probably 7 - 9 months from now (lol I wish). 306338 seems lucky for me. Smiley

There's no doubt there will be new titles after the legendary one, but it would be nice if they would unlock based on more than just pure activity.
It would add a bit more thrill to the chase, and it would make people appreciate it more.
Maybe adding of animated avatar for new membership, and a custom frame for username. It's shame that legendary rank doesn't have some of these "perks"

I doubt we'll ever see more ranks higher than legendary, seeing that it takes more than 2 years to achieve such rank. And just a suggestion, the amount of coins to be donated to obtain a donator should be lower I think. :v Like for example, a 5 btc donation to achieve the Donator rank. I'd really like to see what's the perks of being a donator.
13575  Economy / Gambling / Re: Safest method to double your coins? on: November 01, 2015, 05:43:22 AM
well i would go all in 2x bet its not safe way though its the fastest

I wouldn't go down this path as it is very risky. I might do a 49.5% chance to roll rather than at 2% odds of winning. Slow and steady is the safest.
13576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is their any safe methods to gamble? on: November 01, 2015, 05:36:03 AM
I find martingale profitable if you have a big bankroll. I put in 0.5 BTC and Gamble one satoshi at a time. After gambling for a few days straight, I have 0.7. Cheesy

Hmm, never know that Martingale really works. Tried it once on a demo and I still end up losing all the test credits. :/

13578  Economy / Economics / Re: Forgoten Greece on: November 01, 2015, 05:07:47 AM
Whats the requirement for foreign aid? isnt it that we have the world bank? us has trillions of debt in world bank but how come smaller countires are having difficulties?.

Smaller countries most of the time have smaller resources to pay off their debts. In the case of USA, they could just print and print money if they wanted to given that the world's reserve currency is USD.
13579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it completely legal in the US to buy BTC on one exchange and sell on another? on: November 01, 2015, 05:03:07 AM
Coinbase monitors its customer's accounts for high volume activity inconsistent with personal use, and closes then irrespective of whether selling on another exchange is legal or not. People who buy there and sell on Localbitcoins have been known to have their Coinbase accounts closed for it.

Seems like not a good way to go if you can't mix your coins properly before selling them on lbc. You can avoid your account being closed only if you know how to hide the coins you bought. Cool

"...it has to be backed up with something....."

Uhh, is this guy sane or has completely lost his mind? As long as I can buy things, pay for my bills, do some spending/gambling, the entities I've paud bitcoin to accepted it as a currency.
