Ahh bitstamp that perfect arena for bitcoin trading backed by the rock solid Slovenian banking industry.

Comparing to Japan banking industry it is more reliable atm (for BTC).  Wink
1362  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITSTAMP eXchange wall Observer. second biggest and best exchange on: August 31, 2013, 05:58:00 PM
did u guys also notice that big ask wall dissapearing the past hour?

it's the first time i see the ask wall being not a tsunami on bitstamp and now also for the first time considerably smaller than the bid wall.

Is my observation correct?

Very strange, these asks were there for months now half our before reaching them they dissappered.
1363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Foundation to meet US authorities. on: August 27, 2013, 07:40:13 AM
Some good news there? Suddenly we got 10000 coins market buy, pushing the price up above 125
The thing is the Gox is not the only one.I've just seen Bitstamp go up almost $5 in a short amount of time.

Only because of large buys on Gox. No other reason.
1364  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is the value of bitcoin calculated on: August 22, 2013, 08:54:15 PM
Behind the exchange are people's bids and asks.

Why would anyone buy from you for $200 if he can buy the same for $100 from other people? Why would anyone sell to you for $20 if he can sell it for $100 to others?
1365  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 22, 2013, 07:42:27 PM
yeah man I really failed hard today trading. shit feeling >.<

Maybe not, large buy at gox ($125) can fix this and drive us much up (but imho not very possible). Don't take my word if serious money is in the game.
1366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 22, 2013, 07:35:53 PM
That shitty feeling when you buy alot of coins, and the price drops 5 bucks on Bitstamp >.<

I don't want to play with your feelings but probably if 5 bucks drop will be max you can be very happy.

There was a lot of large buying today and yesterday at bitstamp.
1367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 22, 2013, 10:18:28 AM

Anyone?

1368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Track Record Forum Members on: August 22, 2013, 09:56:19 AM
This thread is not meant to make predictions. It is meant to judge and document past predictions.

I was talking about possible upcoming "forecasting thread" not this one (I was replying to his quote).
1369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Track Record Forum Members on: August 22, 2013, 09:39:48 AM
Yes, even nicer would be a seperate thread for forecasters, where they can make their public prognostications for grading.

Agreed, I want a forecasters' thread too. I'm almost ready to post my next prediction there.

This kind of thread should be educational with clear explanation and even maybe charts. Othervise this thread will become lucky guessing thread.
1370  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 21, 2013, 07:51:21 PM
bitstamp just touched $113 !

You mean 114.
1371  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 21, 2013, 05:57:43 PM
RationalSpeculator bitstamp moved after gox two large buys... so yes, gox leaded that jump but without following.
1372  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox, Bitstamp, et al. on: August 11, 2013, 11:29:50 PM
OK I thought you have problems at Gox in your head and this could result in similar difference for a short time. Or not  Roll Eyes
1373  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox, Bitstamp, et al. on: August 11, 2013, 11:11:32 PM
If it's possible to arb the thing, the gap will be 'insignificant'.  I recall BTC-E used to be a 10% discount to MtGox, I was arbing it like crazy through OKPay.  The difference eventually is about 4%.  After OKPay, AurumXchange and all those guys disappear, gap increase again.  Barring places where moving currency is potentially difficult because of regulation (China) or expensive because of fees, I don't think the prices will diverge much.

Currently, there are disconnect because of difficulty with most exchanges when dealing with fiat.

that the point. Correct

I won't be shocked by a $100 difference.

$150 : $50 ?
1374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 09, 2013, 10:08:30 PM
I have a feeling MtGox will soon burn to the ground...

this thread will be irrelevant,

I vote that chartbuddy move the Stamps thread now.
I think that six month from now the top bitcoin-dollar exchange is going to be one that is not currently listed on bitcoinity.

No chance in so short timeframe.
1375  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 08, 2013, 10:28:48 PM
Nice 104.67!  Cheesy

the action today has made it pretty clear the downtrend is done!

which is sad in a way, because sure I covered all my shorts and i'm ready to ride the bull again, but i was hoping to have an opportunity to buy more  Sad

people were promising < 50$ bitcoin ... thats the dream!

You are the dreamer!  Wink   Adam 4 dreamer.
1376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 08, 2013, 08:30:22 PM
i'm going to start keeping track of bitcoins that need to be bought to break 180
Wouldn't it make more sense to keep track of the USD required to spend?
ill do both.

Quote
Today one can Buy 67,890 BTC for 8,753,997.87 USD which will drive the price up to 180, The buyer would have an avg price of 128.94$ if he was smart enough to buy today.

Do both in your notepad and stop spreading your dreamwishes.
1377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 08, 2013, 02:21:38 PM
I missed an opportunity: should have let the whale hit me at 101.2, but who knew where it would stop?
And who knew there would be someone willing to buy 700+ BTC at 104 $ after that?
Anyway, I believe that once the small rebound loses steam and the downtrend continues, the whale will
proceed with another dump, because he doesn't want someone else to harvest 'his' buy orders.

You probably scream everytime the price switches between 102.X and 103.5 spread?
1378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 08, 2013, 01:55:00 PM
If I were the dumper (I'm not!) then the best strategy is to break the 100 $ psychological barrier and let the market do the rest.
That assuming the dumper wants to buy back later much cheaper.

Yup, I never understand why they don't do just that. Or maybe there is some strategy of false hopes for a better effect -> dump -> let it go back up a bit -> crush newly formed support and break 100

False hopes, yes, but just to harvest more $ from those who believe the dump is over.
I am apprehensive right now, I have a feeling that it's not over yet, but we'll see.

Over till evening.
1379  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 08, 2013, 12:58:06 PM
If the wall at 104 gets eaten / pulled / combination, then people will start thinking: 'OMG! We're going down! Sell now!'. We'll see...

There's still hope for the bears!

*buys coins*

Really, you bought at 104? LMAO!

Lets wait one hour for USA. Two digits on Gox anyone?
1380  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGox USD withdrawals and deposits will soon be processed! on: August 08, 2013, 11:47:20 AM
I think MtGox is having fun doing 10% profit arbitrage between Bitstamp and their own platform, they won't release your fund until they have robbed all your money.

Good point...  Grin   Grin
