Like it was just yesterday.
1362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: did you place all your funds into bitcoin? on: December 11, 2017, 06:30:38 AM
Right now 30% bitcoin 30% an altcoin 40% fiat. The 40% fiat is not because I'm that bearish about bitcoin but because I absolutely must lock in that amount in order secure an independent life under all possibilities.

1364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you Panic? on: December 11, 2017, 06:08:56 AM
Well first I get this vague feeling like I'm suffocating. Then I check my and heart rate is over 130 and my blood pressure is up to 170. For about 15 minutes I wonder if I'm dying. Then it used to end with me popping a Xanax. But now I just ignore it and it goes away.

I learned a similar technique with my crpyto investments. I just step away from the chart and take a nap. Then when I come back it has mostly recovered. Unless it's a shitty alt - in which case I will sit there and wait for the first bounce.

Consolidation with a mean around $9K. Vegeta memes every 2 months.

Doesnt it make perfect sense for there to be congestion if adoption is increasing?
1367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Futures - the beginning of the end...? on: December 11, 2017, 05:23:02 AM
Tulips didnt crash until one year after futures were launched, so we have about a year I guess.
1368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2017, 05:20:28 AM
You know theres millions of people thinking "Bitcoin was halted"
1369  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's up with the btc price? Should we be worried? on: December 11, 2017, 05:04:31 AM
If youre asking about something that happened in just the last 24 hours generally that isnt very significant unless the last 24 hours was something like the great mtgox crash of 2013.

Does anyone know what the market cap of tulips was? I cant find it and all I see is articles about bitcoin.
1371  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2017, 04:32:49 AM
In 2013 there were 15% arbs all the time between btce and gox

Futures don't move the Bitcoin, Bitcoin moves the future.

Right now the Jan futures have 1.6K of volume. Why would the price be arbed there? Weve never arbed to GBTC either.

Gbtc is not a contract that you can deliver on.  Buy 5btc from an exchange at 16K and sell a cboe contract at 18K.  You made 10K.  If price falls, buy cheaper btc and deliver those to the contract.  If price rises above 18K, well - your gain is fixed at 10K but people do a lot more work for less money.

This will push all exchange prices to track the futures price.  If there is a discrepancy in the cost of the real market vs the futures market, bots will arb it out.

CBOE futures are not delivered on either. They are cash settled.

Is it going to hit the circuit breaker on the first day?
1377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are banks putting up with crypto trading? on: December 10, 2017, 11:36:41 PM
The only ones who are always going to love banks are those "clever" guys who are thinking about putting all their life savings on a bank fund with one percent revenue per year.

They claim theirselves to be masterminds, because they are "investing safely"

Ever hears 'keep your enemies closer'? Just a couple years ago the banks were our enemy and everyone seems to have forgot.

Bitcoin is not going to die, and bitcoin is not going to kill banks, it is simple as that.

Stop thinking about that there is going to be a revolution, because it is not.

I agree there probably won't be a revolution. Also the banks wont kill bitcoin but they can lower prices.

What is the ticker symbol to buy the CBOE futures? An article says it is XBT but I put XBT, that is the gemini exchange index.

I'm imagining a future where they is indeed a frenzy over coins, but not our coins. You see people rushing to buy FiatCoin and BOAcoin in their TD Ameritrade account. Meanwhile you are extremely frustrated and going 'omg you idiot that isn't a real coin. that isnt bitcoin. that isnt decentralized. why arent you on our illegal exchange trading real coins?
? havent you ever been in the crypto community or read the whitepaper or know what pki is? [no]'. But all of this just goes completely over their head and they are buying whatever is trending, as always.
