1361  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Open Electrum Android App in READ-ONLY mode? on: August 21, 2023, 10:35:17 AM
Even with Tor, you still leak all your addresses and allow them to be linked together. The only way to be anonymous with any Electrum wallet, watch only or not, is to connect it to your own node/server.
You leak your wallet addresses but tor will mask the IP address in a way the central server will not know the IP address. To have a full node wallet needs over 400 gigibyte and addictional gigabytes daily, that makes people not to have full node wallets. The only way to complete privacy is to have your own electrum server or full node and connect to it instead of the central servers, but not everyone that can afford this.

With tor, you can still try as much as possible to be anonymous to some extent. You can have an offline ways to generate seed phrase, get some private keys and their addresses. Get different wallets like Electrum, Sparrow and some other open source and import the private keys of each addresses on the different wallets.

Like this:
  • Electrum, private key 1
  • Sparrow, private key 2
  • Samourai, private key 3

Or generate seed phrase on each wallet and fund just one address. Using tor to connect to each wallet and changing the tor routing connection for each.

With tor I can still be anonymous but it is not like the more privacy that full node wallet can give with ease.
1362  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Open Electrum Android App in READ-ONLY mode? on: August 21, 2023, 09:32:50 AM
You create such wallet to follow up your wallet transaction, balance without needs to copy and paste your addresses to block explorers and check those details. Because if you use block explorers without Tor connection, you leak your information.
If you are using watch only wallet without tor, you are also leaking your information to the central server. Information like IP address and your wallet address would be leaked.

Watch only wallet on tor is good to be anonymous, but if you check the information on explorer with tor, it is also good. Watch only wallet gives convenience to track your wallet, but offers more than that. Watch only wallet can be used to make unsigned transaction and also used for broadcasting signed transaction in addition to its function.
1363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Monero so unpopular? on: August 21, 2023, 06:38:11 AM
I dont think its not a main coin. Being in top 100 projects based on coingecko and coinmarketcap is one of the main coins or tokens. Its based their listing on marketcap and they have a huge one compared to other competitors. Not to the point that will head on like bitcoin since its really the number 1 coin. Privacy is important too but with the case of monero many exchanges wouldnt like their style thats why some got them delisted before on major cex.
Monero is still listed on many exchanges, like Binance, Kucoin, Kraken, Bitfinix, Gate.io, OKX, MEXC, CoinEx and many other exchanges. Monero is listed on decentralized exchanges like Bisq and many others.

If it is not listed on exchange like Coinbase, we all know how Coinbase is like this and how they restricted many countries. I am one of the people that do not like such an exchange like Coinbase.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASIC or Anti-ASIC? on: August 21, 2023, 06:29:50 AM
I think I read in some years ago that some coins like monero is ASIC resistant. I do not know if this is still true as of now. If People can use less expensive devices like GPU or CPU and nothing like ASIC, there will be more decentralization in mining. But this should be in a way that the computational power should not be more than certain power for each devices used for it, but if it is not like that and which I do not know if it is possible, it might be possible that such coin blockchain may not be resistant to 51% attack.
1365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After more than one year, what do you think of ETH changing from POW to POS? on: August 21, 2023, 06:24:15 AM
Do you think POS will weaken decentralization?
If you are talking about bitcoin and altcoins, there is nothing that will weaken decentralization. But if you are talking about altcoins, I do not know but there are people that prefer decentralization. If you are talking about if PoS is not decentralized, yes it is not.

Does switching from POW to POS significantly reduce gas costs? And significantly improve TPS?
No, it does not reduce fee at all.

Why do you think ETHW failed?
Because ether and ERC20 has gained ground already and influenced by their creator like Vitalik Buterin.

If there is a new coin that tries to re-provide POW ETH, will you buy it?
Bitcoin is PoW and has not changed, you can go for it.

I found several POW-based ETH altcoins released recently, do you think these altcoins have a future?
There were some that were successful in the past, there are some that are created now that will have future. But just that developers of today are lazy and only go for token instead of a coin.
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Monero so unpopular? on: August 20, 2023, 08:15:48 AM
Privacy is a necessary feature in my opinion, but why hasn't Monero become a main coin?
Bitcoin is the main coin while other coins are altcoins. People also know monero too. Monero is the 28th on the list if marketcap is used for comparison. It is having a marketcap of over $2.6 billion. Which means it is a good coin.

But if you expectations about the coins is not up to what the marketcap is, it is good to know that most people that are into crypto do not care about privacy, they care about investing and making profit from the coin they invested in.
1367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Typical scenario when you are losing on: August 20, 2023, 07:45:47 AM
Going to gamble again after a big win is a poor way for us to gamble because it is going to make us lose money that we won because of the zeal of winning that kind of money again making us use big amount of money to cast bets. Gambling is something that we need to study ourselves enough and check what could be the reasons why we are making loses. If we want to be profitable, we need to study our weakness to know when things are going the wrong way so that we can fix it as soon as possible.
What I have noticed about gambling is that if I win, I will feel like to be gambling more so that I can win more, but this do cause me to later lose at the end of the day. If I lose after playing few games, I will feel like to chase the loss and win back. If I continue to chase the lose, I continue to lose more than I win. These are emotions that gamblers neeed to deal with in gambling, because if a gambler fall for it, it will not result to anything good for the gambler.

I am sure that if you ask any expert on the subject they will tell you that you have an addiction problem or problem gambling behaviour, and these things don't usually go away on their own.
One of the thing that the OP included is gambling when he supposed to be sleeping. That is one sign that he is getting addicted or already addicted to gambling. Another one is gambling even before eating breakfast, what he thinks is to wake up and gamble. Thayy is another sign is being addicted to gambling. He played after huge win, he is also chasing losses. Which means he gambles all the time and that is a sign of gambling addiction.
1368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why we need to buy meme coin? on: August 19, 2023, 07:35:05 PM
There are over 26000 altcoins. You can look at the coin marketcap from 2500 coins and see how almost all altcoins are shitcoins. Even before the 2500 coins are also shit coins.

Generally most altcoins are very risky and not advisable to buy, not only just the meme coins.
1369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recommendations needed for switching to privacy-friendly mobile OS on: August 19, 2023, 04:07:14 PM
Those apps or sites like Instagram and Facebook messenger have nothing to do with privacy.
Really? Both these apps have access to your device's camera, file manager, and microphone so it's like a spy app that is monitoring all the users 24/7.
I mean if you are using Instagram, Facebook messenger and other social media, that they privacy invading. I have eidted it for people not to get confused of what I am trying to communicate.
1370  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] Yo!Mix Bitcoin Mixer Signature Campaign| Reward up to $130/w | GREEN ZONE on: August 19, 2023, 03:54:33 PM
I just wonder why someone was accepted if CFNP was still there..
Campaign managers will edit it to open if he wants to accept more people. After he accept the number of people needed, he will edit it back to CPNP from OPEN.
1371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recommendations needed for switching to privacy-friendly mobile OS on: August 19, 2023, 03:45:44 PM
I know of Calyx OS. It is open source but only working mostly on Google devices, but probably on few other devices. If you can use it, it would be better than google. This OS was created for privacy reasons. LineageOS support more devices but very few too. GrapheneOSis only working on Google devices.

My advise is that if you have computer, use it for privacy things like wallet instead. I have not seen developers that say these mobile phone OS are good, but Linux on computer is highly recommended.

Those apps or sites like Instagram and Facebook messenger have nothing to do with privacy, they are privacy invading.

1373  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Open Electrum Android App in READ-ONLY mode? on: August 19, 2023, 01:06:03 PM
Is this somehow possible?
Yes, but the steps depends on your wallet type.

If you have Standard wallet, doing what others said is the precise way to do this.
If you have a 2FA wallet, you'll have to restore a 2-of-3 Multi-Signature wallet containing all three master public keys (keystore1, 2 , 3) from your wallet information.
The order of the master keys doesn't matter in Electrum.
He has an Electrum wallet already on desktop, he can only have 2fa on mobile phone, he can not have both Electrum wallet and 2fa on mobile phone because it is not good to have both the authenticator and the wallet together. He is good for him to just go for watch only wallet. I get what you are saying that on 2fa wallet, that he will not be able to spend but it is not what he is looking for.
1374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Factor behind the rise and fall of Bitcoin price on: August 19, 2023, 11:48:59 AM
Please I want to know the factor behind the rise and fall of Bitcoin price?
Some say its influenced by supply and demand but I need more conviction.
Bitcoin total supply is 21 million BTC
Circulating supply is 19.46 million BTC
Through halving, the supply introduced into circulation is reducing. It was first 50 BTC. After 210000 blocks, it reduced to 25 BTC and so on. It is 6.25 BTC now and it will reduce to 3.125 in the next halving and so on.

The law of demand of a product, is that the higher the demand the higher the price of the product.
The law of supply of a product, is that the lower the supply the higher the price.

Satoshi made bitcoin total supply to be 21 million. It is not increasing.

As people buy more bitcoin with the constantly reducing supply into circulation and total supply of bitcoin of 21 million, the price is increasing. People know this and they buy more bitcoin.
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Try your luck with 1 to 1 odds game on: August 19, 2023, 08:42:25 AM
You could setup brand new wallet and play The Game on the testnet. But you do have to link wallet thats how web3 works
This is nice, people can play the game using testnet coins. But what if the user later change to mainnet coins, what is the probability that you will not scam the person? Your site was created just some months ago.

I will prefer to continue to use my gambling site which is centralized though but they are trustworthy and I have not yet been scammed before.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Financial Revolution with Bitcoin and Feasibilities on: August 19, 2023, 08:34:11 AM
I've heard about some people saying that very soon they are going to lead a massive protests against fiat for bitcoin adoption, this is aimed to fight against the government for bitcoin financial adoption and some are retereiting this same fact that they want to go on revolution, but why need for that?
I have never heard of this before. Which country wants to lead a protest for their government not to allow fiat again as a legal tender but to accept ane be using bitcoin?

People know how bitcoin is very volatile and they will not want to go for it. Although bitcoin is a store if hold in a long term but people are not looking to that direction.

Bitcoin is allowed in many countries and people can buy bitcoin if they want. Like you have said already, it is just an alternative.
1377  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Open Electrum Android App in READ-ONLY mode? on: August 19, 2023, 08:22:32 AM
What you are talking about is a watch only wallet, you can read about it from this link:

https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

You can set a different password. You can also go preference to set pin for protected payment which is different from the password that you will be using to access the wallet.
1378  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR on: August 18, 2023, 01:41:38 PM
Didn't say that CM scammed. What I mean is that we don't have an idea what their overall plan is — to continue being a reputable service, or to gain high reputation then scamquit when there's so much money in their vaults.

tl;dr we can only hope that these mixers don't end up scamquitting. Because no one knows what their plans are.
Bitcoin is decentralized and if you want mixers that will not scam and quit, using decentralized mixers will be the best. There are many decentralized mixers on self hosted wallets like jointmarket if you have full node wallet, or the ones like whirlpool on Samourai and Sparrow bitcoin wallet. Another one is Wasabi but which I can not point to again because of privacy concern.

I also confirm that I received my DAI tokens.
@Hhampuz @minerjones, thanks to both of you.
It is good to see this. I thought that Hhampuz fucked up, but he continues to prove himself as one of the best campaign managers on this forum.
1379  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR on: August 18, 2023, 10:49:54 AM
The thing that sucks is we can't even know for sure if a service is going to end up being a scam. We liked ChipMixer due to their reputation and long-running service but who would've know if they end up wanting to scam anyway.
We did not heard that Chipmixer scammed anyone, what happened was that the site was taken down by the government becuase the mixing site was linked to mixing of illegal coins. But that Chipmixer was linked to scamming its customers, there is nothing like that. Whirlwind is nothing but directly scammed its customers.
1380  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Ballet wallets on: August 18, 2023, 10:35:57 AM
Unless you read the code or trust someone who read the code, nothing is guaranteed.
This is not even about if a wallet is open source or close source. Even if a paper wallet or collectible or whatever you call it is open source, so far that the seed phrase and passphrase are generated by a company for you, that means you have to trust them and this is one of the ways some bitcoin owners lost their bitcoin.
