1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Are To Turn Bitcoin into a Global payment Network - Former PayPal President on: September 12, 2023, 10:25:54 AM
Lol. But that's true. Bitcoin is already a global payment network with its own native currency. That's what Bitcoin already is right from the start. But we know what he actually meant. He is simply saying he will create a payment platform using or which offers Bitcoin that would be used all over the world.
This was exactly what he meant. He has a platform that he thinks will help make Bitcoin more accessible and acceptable in the global financial system. His firm Lightspark deals in Lightning Network infrastructure and he feels that bitcoin can work like Papal using a decentralized network. Marcus stated that with his services bitcoin transactions can be faster, cheaper, and cover wider coverage. I wonder how he intends to make bitcoin operate like a highly centralized platform like Papal using a decentralized network.

Quote
Of course, to somebody who is already using Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer payment network, that's actually not interesting. That simply means he will make a centralized business out of a decentralized system. That goes against the very design of Bitcoin.
Any transaction that is not Peer-to-peer is against the reason for the invention of Bitcoin. If a transaction in a Bitcoin system requires people to provide their personal in the form of KYC, the process has been adulterated.
1362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: September 11, 2023, 08:49:45 PM
Regarding League rankings we haven't got the latest release yet but if we refer to last season's data the Saudi Pro League ranking is under 60th it's far from the best league category moreover they have not won international competitions such as AFC and others, for the most popular league category maybe the Saudi Pro League is in the top 10 in these 2 seasons they got a lot of attention and views. I think this is what the owner wants to get a lot of attention as well as promotion for hosting the World Cup and property investment.
Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia is the most successful club in Asia. They have won the AFC Champions League four times, the Asian Cup Winners Cup twice, and the Asian Super Cup twice. So in terms of continental competition some Saudi clubs are performing well. Currently the Saudi league is ranked sixth in Asia but it is well known that this ranking will soon change to favour the SPL because of the quality of players and coaches that have moved to the Saudi league.

They wouldn't physically spend that much, there aren't that many "stars" coming into this league. I mean for one team it's a lot if you only look at one or two transfer windows. Spending that kind of budget and attracting really good stars can be done in two years minimum... I keep waiting for them to start paying players less, to start really appealing with their league and not money.
Nothing is exciting about the Saudi League for now except the money. None of those players went to the league because of love or passion. Immediately you stop paying huge fees, the league will become dormant just like what happened in China. The League management should seek other means to make the league durable aside from giving players irresistible offers. One of the ways of sustaining this growth is to build local players. If some unknown players suddenly grows and becomes superstars more younger players will like to join the League.
1363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON Qualifiers 2023 on: September 11, 2023, 08:09:12 PM
For the first time in African football history, a country has produced male and female Balon D'or nominees in the same year and that I think is a big achievement for Nigeria and also a very commendable feat that's been achieved by the most populous black nation.
Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala deserves their nominations after an impressive season with their respective European clubs. That been said, I don't think any of them stands a chance to win the prestigious prize when it'll be announced on 30 October at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
Although I know that Victor Osimhen might not make it to the final top five in the list he deserves this nomination. He was one of the best players in the Italian Seria A and was behind the success of his club Napoli. It was painful Nigeria didn't qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar because it would have been a platform for the Nigerian striker to gain more support in his quest to become the world's best footballer. His recent performance in the qualifiers where he just scored his first hat trick for Nigeria should also be put into consideration in rating him and he has already started scoring more goals this season in Napoli.

Asisat Oshoala was wonderful in her club Barcelona where she scored 21 goals in 28 games.  But his performance in the World Cup was not encouraging. The Super Falcons had so much confidence in her but she ended up scoring just one goal and lost so many opportunities. I am also pleased about her nomination but I predict that she will not also make it to the top five. Nevertheless, this is an uncommon accomplishment by Nigeria. But it is not also a surprise because the country is a goldmine of quality footballers.
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Are To Turn Bitcoin into a Global payment Network - Former PayPal President on: September 11, 2023, 07:24:33 PM
we are trying to make water wet Grin.

Saw this interview video clip posted on telegram by a news channel i am following, the interview had former president of PayPal and in the video clip, he's saying that,  they are trying to turn Bitcoin into a Global payment Network, and in my own words, what I heard is "they are trying to make water wet 😂..

Who exactly are they trying to fool?, Bitcoin in my own understanding is already a payment system for the entire globe, the former president of PayPal now saying that they are the ones trying to turn Bitcoin into a global payment Network is highly ridiculous and laughable.

Are they trying to steal Satoshi's glory? Not possible I believe..

Source: https://t.me/WatcherGuru/5234
David Marcus was not speaking on behalf of Papal but his personal views or vision. He is now the CEO of Lightspark and has no role in Papal anymore. But his claim that he wants to turn Bitcoin into a Global Payment Network is heresy. Bitcoin is already a globally recognized payment system that would have achieved more global adoption if not for some unpleasant policies by the government. Marcus was simply advertising his company Lightspark that deals on lightning network. It is a subtle strategy to introduce people to his lightning network services.

Such great tips for beginners. I am not a beginner, I wanted to skip the post but on a second thought I decided to check the rank of the creator of the topic. Lo! It happens to be another newbie teaching newbies thread.
I don't think the rank of the original poster should be the main determinant of the quality of the post. I have seen some helpful posts from newbies. But the problem is that many of them are in a rush to earn merit and join campaigns so they end up coming up with some low-quality posts.

I am also a newbie but I think my points are valid am I right
Most of what you stated in your post is true but you can do better. If you use the search bottom, you will get many posts on the issues you discussed. I appreciate the time you put in to come up with this post but this kind of post will not give you merits if that is what you are aiming at. The forum will appreciate innovative and creative posts that will bring new information to the forum. I think you should spend more time reading and learning before coming up with posts.
1366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 10, 2023, 12:29:06 PM
Lewandowski has admitted that he has slow start this season because if we compared to his goal records last season is much better than now and even his goals records with Poland national team is much better than in Barcelona and Lewandowski has been complaining Xavi tactic while Barcelona only playing draw against Getafe last month this because he hasn't gets enough ball supply from the midfielder so that's why he was unable to scores at that time but i think it's only a matter of time to see Lewandowski reach to his top performance again because gradually he has found his shape again and the latest proof is he was able to scores two times in a row when Barcelona win from Osasuna and Villarreal
The Polish striker also complained that he has had fewer chances this season. He further added that he needs more support to enable him to get chances to score goals. Robert Lewandowski's performance since after the World Cup in Qatar has not been at his best. He relies heavily on others and hardly creates his chances. And in most cases, he keeps missing valuable chances. But he has scored some important goals that have given the club some important points.

I don't know why I really believe that one day Mbappe will play for the Real Madrid team, the best player in the world will play for the best team in the world, we just need to wait for the time, Mbappe is still very young and his time will still be very long.
And this season the Real Madrid team is really not looking for a star striker to replace the position left by Benzem, they really seem to be waiting for Mbappe.
It is not a secret that Mbappe's ambition is to play for Real Madrid. There are rumors that the Frenchman has already had a consensus agreement with Real Madrid to move to Spain next season. The problem is that many clubs will be willing to outbid Real to get this talented player. But in most cases, transfer mainly depends on the player's choice. One can also assume that the reason why the club didn't splash so much money on a striker during this transfer season was because they are expecting to sign Mbappe next season.
1367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ask about prediction on: September 10, 2023, 11:23:52 AM
Hi,

I want to ask about how if I giving football or other predictions in this forum. Is it allowed? No feelings. I don't have any purpose and just wanna share what I can.

I don't force anyone to use my prediction because it is just a sharing prediction with all of you.

Thank you.

As you have heard from other members you can create a thread for your predictions and keep on updating it with your predictions. Just like other gamblers in the forum, I will be interested in your predictions because I don't want to lose out. If your prediction turns out to be correct on most occasions, the thread will attract members. I would have been skeptical if you asked for a registration fee before accessing the prediction. I have come across some threads where members ask for money to give people predictions and I see some of them as scams. I am glad you are not asking for money. As much as it is free, there is no harm in trial.
1368  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: September 10, 2023, 10:34:13 AM
Is good you made it clear because it seems that the OP doesn't have any meanful questions to ask that's why he hasn't updated this thread which I doubt.
I still believe the OP has a bucket loads of questions to ask but he hasn't find out time to renew his questions and I'll still say Mr JJGee should give him (the OP) time since it has gotten to his notice.
Some of the questions now can not be changed due to their relevance but others are now outdated. The bitcoin world is ever changing and there are new questions that should be added to make the interview more interesting.

Quote
Quote
I don't know about the others, but I was reading each and every interview while there was some selection and only people with some history (like you) here had the privilege to give answers

That eventually changed when we got bunch of pretty much unknown members joining and I honestly didn't care to find more about someone I didn't even know exists on forum before and whom I never exchanged a single sentence so I eventually stopped checking this thread.

That's to say the Forum has a lot of space to accomodate different people from different countries and you have get use to it by getting to know the new faces that flood the forum and things do change when the crowd are much, some adjustments need to be made like you can reapply and answer some of those questions again just to keep this thread alive, maybe when the OP has new questions.
This interview section should not be for everybody. I am not trying to be sentimental but it should be for members with experience or have something unique to share. Even in the real world, the media don't host just anybody on the street for interviews. This section should be an avenue where members learn from veterans in the forum. Many new members that have been interviewed just repeat the same stories making this thread less educative. New faces need to stay in the forum and gain experience before coming to tell their stories.
1369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: September 10, 2023, 07:52:40 AM
The problem for now is that we also cannot confidently say Lukaku can develop and get better at Roma because this is just a hope for that especially since we know that his performance in the past few seasons Lukaku has continued to decline and this moment must also be maximized by Lukaku so that he can regain his performance again.

Mou knows what to do with his reunion this time with Lukaku and he is sure in some of his statements that Lukaku can be a good option for Roma so I think with Mou's full trust and the support of several players for Lukaku mama this can be a good thing for Lukaku.
Lukaku recently has not been a consistent striker. He has continued to miss clear chances in some important games. I also don't think that he will improve based on his age and weight, except he works extraordinarily hard. He is not like veterans like Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimović that has defiled age and keep putting up an exceptional performance. My position is that Roma shouldn't depend solely on Romelu Lukaku, he will be good as a spare striker. Jose Mourinho has so much confidence in the Belgian international that was why he called him convincing him to join him again in Roma. It is now up to Lukaku to work hard to prove his critics in Chelsea, Inter, and Juventus wrong.
1370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 09, 2023, 08:29:09 PM
Erik Ten Hag need to accumulate permission to view numerous heinous incidents happening on at Old Trafford. Everything are going to get blown out of proportion, but we should focus on what is good and spread positive energy. The Red Devils confront challenges on two frontlines, with Anthony suffering furious assaults from his ex-partner who wants to cinch him down. On the other side, Erik Ten Hag has made comments about Jadon Sancho not meeting his minimum benchmarks to be included in his starting lineups for league matches. The whole concept seems to be getting out of hand, but I'm hoping Manchester United can sort it out before it blows up in their faces.
The ownership problem is also a big challenge. The fans want a change of ownership but the Glazers are overestimating the club which has made the negotiation for the sale of the club collapse. Anthony's issue is a big problem because the summer transfer window has closed which means that he cannot be replaced by a new signee. If the Brazilian is found guilty of domestic violence, United might end up losing another important player to misconduct after the departure of Greenwood. I think clubs need to take the off the pitch behavior of their players seriously because it can harm the club. Maybe players should be exposed to legal, psychological, and relationship education.

What a horrible start for Onana, to think he was one of the best goalkeepers in Europe last year.

Maybe it's just a settling-in problem but so far it's really hurting seeing him
Manchester United generally has a poor team. I know that the club expected much from Onana but if you take a close look at some of the goals he conceded it will be evident that the club has a very weak defense. When a club has a good team, even an average goalkeeper will excel. I don't expect the Cameroonian International to perform miracles. The club needs to fix so many things to make them competitive this season. Onana is a good keeper and is still adapting to the English league and he is still young which means he is a long-time goalkeeper.
1371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using Statistical Data to Win Sports Betting Picks on: September 09, 2023, 07:41:56 PM
I think statistical data should never be treated reliable in sports betting. Especially with sports involving 10-20 people its sometimes up to their concentration/mentality etc. Statistics can help you as subsidiary support to your bet. I mean you could be familiar with both teams in a football match and pick a bit but after check if stats support it. But using stats only would result in instant losses in my opinion.
Statistical analysis is just part of other gambling strategies. It is also important to understand that there is no single that will certainly lead to wins. Gamblers choose the strategy that is convenient and more profitable to them. I will always prefer using different strategies before betting. Analyzing the current performance of the team you want to bet on is also important. As you said statistics might not be reliable because the present condition of the team is also important. An example is that any gambler who considered the statistics of the English premiership team Chelsea to bet on the team last season would have lost throughout last season. This is because their performance last season didn't reflect their statistics.
1372  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 09, 2023, 06:18:25 PM
It's the process of making money and reinvest make money and reinvest.
If you made just some lucky 10x profit but you can't keep up your stradegy for the long term then you don't build any wealth.
Investing and reinvesting profits is a good way of building a business. Instead of spending the profit, putting it back into the business will expand and grow it faster.

Quote
If we talking about trading and you don't build wealth with starting capital of 50$ then you woun't do it with 1000,3000,5000 either.
If we talking about real estate , first you need to understood the " mortgage markets " If you make like 10 year Investment plan because you been told real estate always good Investment then it's gamble everything what you don't know about and can't control it's gamble. And gamblimg is not business so dont call yourself like investor or traders Smiley
You think by holding the gold, silver and you always stay in profit that kind of mindset it's gamble not investing.
You think inflation always goes up and money printers working always its also the gamble.
Having an investment mindset is important if you want to create wealth. You can start with what you can afford and grow it over time. Some persons have enough but they don't care about investing. Before you invest in any sector you need to carry out extensive research to know the profitability and risk involved because you cannot control everything about the business. Some uncontrollable internal and external factors will affect the business. Every business has risks and sometimes our plans might not work the way we projected. Expecting profit from a business doesn't make it a gamble but we should do our research before investing.

~snip~  following a boring plan as follows:

1) Control income and expenses.
2) Spend less than you earn.
3) If you have consumer debt, get rid of it as fast as you can. And never get into consumer debt again.
4) Increase your income and get different sources of income.
5) Invest, invest, invest.

hahaha... I like your sentence. In essence, we have to live frugally and set aside money. The best way is to increase our monthly income so that we don't need to be too frugal because income is greater than expenses. However, in practice it is not easy, but it can be done. Youth needs to be utilized because the energy and mind are still strong enough to think about many things
If you increase your income and don't apply what @Poker Player advised, you might end up not saving enough to invest. Many people keep spending more as their income increases which will limit their ability to save. It is not about living frugally but applying discipline in spending. Based on the current economic problems, if you don't make sacrifices, you might not have enough to save. The rate of inflation in most countries is forcing many to cut expenses.
1373  Other / Off-topic / Re: Everybody WILL hear the letters BTC. on: September 09, 2023, 04:10:27 PM
Although the government doesn't actually mean Bitcoin, as long as the letter BTC is theirs, it also means Bitcoin, and moreover, this BTC sign will also help spread the awareness of Bitcoin in that state, so every ear must hear the letters BTC. The old and the young will hear about it, so when Bitcoin will start pumping that everyone will be in a rush to join, and nobody will say that he or she didn't hear about BTC.
I know that Bitcoin is not banned in Nigeria but banks are restricted from dealing in cryptocurrencies. The acronym BTC will only be understood by people who are aware of Bitcoin. Other citizens will not make any meaning from the acronym. I understand your stance but I doubt if an acronym on taxi will encourage people to start rushing to join the Bitcoin space because they do not know those words. It will only serve as a reminder to those who already have Bitcoin knowledge.

let me guess

Bayelsa Taxi Cabs
The meaning of the BTC signs on those taxes is Bayelsa State Transport Company (BTC) and they were bought to help the citizen cushion the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy in Nigeria.
1374  Other / Meta / Re: censoring foul words. on: September 08, 2023, 09:43:38 PM
If I want to reply to someone's post and call them a fucking idiot, that is my right. You have the right to ignore me or scroll past my reply. Let's not be part of the cancel culture here. It's not that complicated and we don't need snowflakes trying to change something that doesn't need changed.
One of the good qualities of this community is freedom of speech. People are allowed to say their views without any form of intimidation. Firstly, since we are from different locations and cultures, what you think is an insult might not be the case in another country. I have read that insults are not against the forum rules, members are allowed to speak freely. Insults or foul language are not promoted in the forum but one needs to learn how to ignore and endure the insults. Controlling the language on the forum will affect the freedom of speech which might discourage people from engaging in discussions. I have identified some members that I wouldn't engage in any discussion with them because I don't like their approach. Maybe some other members might have put me on ignore because my expression might have offended them. The beauty of freedom of speech is that everybody has a level playing ground that is void of censorship.
1375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: September 08, 2023, 07:58:06 PM
Actually for the discussion regarding Ronaldo struggle which is currently changing the Saudi arabian league to become more popular, there are still some people who think this is a bad thing, but those who think Ronaldo efforts are bad, I believe he is just someone who doesn't want to study the history of football in several leagues.
I would agree that Ronaldo move to Saudi Arabian league will have a big influence in terms of Arab football which will become as popular as the european league and there would be nothing wrong if some big players from Europe came to join Saudi Arabian clubs to help improve football in saudi pro league and in the long term I have the same belief as Ronaldo that in the short term the saudi pro league will become popular football.
Anybody who thinks that the move of Ronaldo to Al-Nassr is not bringing the desired result is not thinking right. The Portuguese captain was the sole reason for the development of the Saudi League. The management of the Saudi Professional League really did sound research about the players that will attract attention to the league. The reason why most of these top players were attracted to the SPL was because of Ronaldo and he brought a lot of fans to the country.

I don't also think that attracting the best players from Europe to the league will be the only factor that will develop the country's football. Most of these leagues are state owned which means the government might interfere in the administration of the league. A prosperous league should have an independent FA that will be free to make decisions that will impact positively on the league. The league should also attract sponsorship and endorsement deals for other parts of the world to sponsor the league. They need to be free from financial dependence on the government for them to excel.

This should be the correct link:
https://news.bitcoin.com/el-salvador-launches-pilot-project-to-include-bitcoin-content-in-school-curriculums/

Quote
Discussions are invited.
I tried to check the content of the curriculum but I couldn't find any of the documents. But it is obvious that these students will be introduced to the basics of bitcoin like wallets, transactions, security, etc. And it also seems like the target is high school students which is okay. Teaching children who are less than twelve years old might not be the right decision because they might not understand the concept. There is also a report that participants are given a diploma certificate that is nationally recognized.

An undiluted Bitcoin education is needed globally. People need to know about Bitcoin and its benefits to individuals, businesses, and institutions. So it's great news to know that over 25,000 students have learned about bitcoin in El Salvador and this awareness is moving to other Latin American countries like Uruguay and Cuba. All of these students might not embrace Bitcoin but the few that accept it will spread the good news.
1377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA'ing isnt a bad strategy on: September 08, 2023, 06:02:33 PM
If you want a bigger chance of making a lot of money, go for the lump sum. If you want to slowly accumulate Bitcoin with the least risk (even if it means having less Bitcoin in the end), then DCA is better. For most regular people who just want to accumulate Bitcoin, DCA is a good choice because it helps you get a decent amount of Bitcoin based on the money you have to invest.
Lump sum also gives you a bigger chance of making a lot of losses. You can buy and the price will start dropping which means you are making losses. It could also work that immediately you buy, the price will start rising. But you rarely lose in bitcoin except if you have a short-term plan or you panic sell. But you nailed it mate, DCA remains the best strategy because it is more convenient and spreads risks. You are not under any form of pressure because you are buying based on your capacity and timing.

Quote
What is your opinion?
And and which method do you prefer to be used in this present market conditions?
I might consider the lump sum strategy if I have a huge amount that I have planned to invest at a certain time. But for now, DCA is my best option because my income comes in small sums periodically. It is easier to budget some part of my earnings to buy Bitcoin every week or month. DCA is the best for salary earners while lump sum might be suitable for businessmen who make huge profits at once.

1379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fan of casino reviews online? This is a must-read on: September 06, 2023, 10:26:42 AM
To cut this topic short, stay the hell away from TrustPilot, I think Coinguru is still a better choice.
These rating platforms have different parameters used in measuring the performance of casinos. It is key to check these benchmark to know if it suits your standard. It will also be a mistake to rely on a single rating by platform to evaluate the reputation of a casino, we should always check other rating platforms. Most reviews are arranged to suit some casinos. Some review websites are secretly owned or financed by these casinos so you don't expect them to publish a negative review. In most cases only reviews that favors the casino is publicized. I don't trust any of them which is why doing research is cardinal.
1380  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 06, 2023, 09:47:56 AM
Let's suppose you have a limited budget which can be used only for one of the alternatives below:

What is the best investment, in your opinion? To use this money to pay for your education, so you can conclude a superior course and achieve a higher degree, having access to a wide jobs' market, or to use that money to acquire an apartment, house or piece of land, so you can make a passive income from this?

It brings the following question up: what is more valued in life: to be or to have? Does it make someone fulfilled to have while not being or being without having anything?
The skills and certification you get from going to school open many doors of opportunity to make money. You can secure a job or start a business with the knowledge you get from school.  A house gives you just one option which is the income you gain from rent. I will choose to go to school and study a course I have a passion for. Your earnings can provide the funds needed to build houses. Education is also good since you can move to any part of the world with your skills and qualifications. Alternatively, you can build the house and use the rent to finance your education. But we should also understand that education doesn't guarantee good jobs and building a house doesn't also guarantee a constant flow of passive income
