Thanks for your interest!

I am deploying a bit more hashrate now and I will be resuming the testing sessions soon.

Stay tuned Smiley

I love the interface! All the information that I could possibly need is there. I'm definitely interested in signing up if you do decide to make this a paid service.

Also, does your rig 1 always run at 80c? Seems kind of hot?

Now, this is a paying miner you want to keep.  Not even his hardware and showing his concerns.   Grin

-tb-

Thanks for the great feedback, it's appreciated.

About rig 1, I have vent issues due to a temporary rain storm here, water infiltrates.

I have just set the fan higher to compensate, it should go <75°C soon ;-)
1363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [1.2 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 10, 2013, 11:33:59 AM
I'd be glad to test if there is still a spot open, thank you Smiley

Welcome! You get the slot from 12:30 to 13:30 UTC.

Please PM you with your initial pool + worker settings, as described above, you will have a web interface to change them dynamically and monitor the miners during the slot.

Next available slot starts at 13:30 UTC
1364  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Switching off my GPUs, tears in my eyes on: October 10, 2013, 11:12:30 AM
The XFX seem to have a bad reputation.

To be perfectly honest, of all my GPUs (those I got new and the second hand ones), the only one that I had to RMA after about 2 months of use was an XFX 7970. It took *three* full months for the RMA facility in the UK to send my retailer a new one. And I wasn't even surprised, as he had warned me...

I would be interested in other miners' experiences about XFX GPUs

Thanks to testers for the feedback. New slots available now, for those interested. I have received a couple of PM requests who got queued first, the next one will be at 12:30 UTC

Cheers

Willing to test this if you got timeslots left, sometimes rent hash from users here so this would be a attractive service..

You get the 23:30 - 00:30 UTC timeslot.
Please PM me your initial pool/worker settings as described above.

Thanks,

Matt
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [1.2 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 09:09:15 PM
I'd like to test but I'm busy for the rest of today. Any time slots tomorrow?

Yes, there will be timeslots tomorrow.
1368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [1.2 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 08:48:09 PM
OK, interface did not work for me.

Linux, Firefox + NoScript + AdBlock + ...

Hope this helps.

Edit: although the miner mines at my default values submitted. Nice.

Thanks for reporting it, I'm working on it, testing with Firefox now.
1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [1.2 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 08:47:39 PM
hi i would like to try to next timeslot if possible, and  i will leave feedback in this thread about my experiance if you would like.

OK, thanks for your interest. You get the 22:30 - 23:30 UTC timeslot.
Please send me a PM with your pool / worker settings as mentionned above. Thanks.
1370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [1.2 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 08:19:27 PM
i wouldn't mind testing it for you either , if you still have slots available Smiley

Thanks for your interest in testing.

You get the 21:30 - 22:30 UTC timeslot.

Please PM me your static worker config for the test (you may want to use a sandbox account, see above). I will reply you with the details.

Next available timeslot starts at 22:30 UTC.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 08:08:38 PM
Miner works and is hashing away BTCBTCBTCBTCBTCBTC

Thanks for the positive feedback.

I'm working hard to build a real interface, like nodejs.

If there is enough interest, I have many interesting plans to carry on and scale this project.

The idea is to "recycle" somewhat my GPUs, I have a potential 8500 KHS to deploy.
1372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 08:01:07 PM
Next slot available at 21:30 UTC
1373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 07:09:33 PM
Just a quick tip.
I advice everyone using/trying this server to create a worker with a password which they don't use.

While it is a good generic advice, I do not really see the point here. What harm can come out of everyone knowing my miner worker user and pass? The only outcome I can see is others mining for me, which they are certainly welcome to do.. ;-) Am I missing something obvious?

To the OP. An interesting idea, but If you have hashrate at your disposal, why not use it yourself?
There are people who re-use their password constantly (yes even in the BitCoin World). If OP has their miner password, he COULD get access to other accounts. Also, miner names (aka. nicknames) are often re-used too. You see where I am going?

Yes, and it will never be repeated / reposted enough times...

So the next slot is starting at 20:10 UTC for those interested.

Obviously a reasonable and sound advice Cheesy

Traffic is *not* over HTTPS yet. Use dummy values. Create a sandbox account. Etc.
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 06:51:47 PM
I think this is a pretty good Idea,
Wouldn't mind testing it for you.

Nice :-)

First to answer, so you get the first slot, I guess it's fair enough.
I will give you 120 minutes for the 1st test, and then I will redefine the slots according to the demand.

(EDIT: test rounds will be 60 min until further notice)

Currently, the pool settings work like this:

  • Pool 0: static, will be used until you dynamically set pool 1
  • Pool 1: dynamic, will be used instead of pool 0 as soon as you set it from the web interface

Please PM me the static settings you want for pool 0, i.e. URL, worker and password.

It is cgminer based, so you can use stratum+tcp:// format URLs.

Does that work for you?
1376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 06:44:16 PM
I want to provide a virtual mining service, i.e. you buy hash power for a certain duration and you control the workers, you can configure them to use any pool you want with any worker name.

I have put together a proof-of-concept interface and I want some feedback from an experimented alt-coin miners who is still believing in the possible profitability of scrypt-mining, of course. For the firsts tests, testers will not have to pay anything and will be rewarded with their mining profits, so it's small pocket money - yay Smiley - of course their is no SLA or guarantee of any kind.

Does that explain the project more clearly?

1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [2.1 MHS] Experimental virtual scrypt mining on: October 09, 2013, 06:32:11 PM
Hello,

I am looking for a first tester for my experimental virtual scrypt mining project.

Mining hashrate would be about 1200 KHS and the tester can keep the proceeds from the mining tests. Currently the alpha interface should already allow you to dynamically switch pools, so you can mine any coins and follow profitability.

There is currently only one slot available, but more to come.

Watch this topic for more info. Thanks for your interest!
1379  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: October 09, 2013, 06:17:26 PM
As far as I am concerned (for MINING), I'm ok with direct shares / direct dividends, Google Docs or whatever (friedcat style...)
1380  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Switching off my GPUs, tears in my eyes on: October 09, 2013, 06:06:01 PM
Hello,

Thanks for all those who supported me, and those who contacted me here or PMed me about the sales of the GPUs.

I would like to experiment with providing an on-demand, "cloud" style scrypt mining service, a bit like CEX.io with BitFury for SHA-256.

For this, I would like a first beta tester. The tester will have access to about 1.2 MHS scrypt mining, for a couple of hours during the tests, based on 2x7970 (690+510 KHS). The tester may keep the mining rewards, there will be no other reward.

The alpha version of the interface allows dynamic pool switching, i.e. you can mine any coin and use the interface to change the pool instantly.

At this stage, the whole system is a proof of concept and not yet secure enough for public deployment. In other words, I am *not* asking and granting permission for pen testing at this stage -- it's not what I'm looking for yet.

Thanks for your interest.

Matt
