13701  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: July 01, 2020, 01:33:34 PM
So it took around 14 days and 2 minutes which is really close to zero. or down It may be the closest ever to zero.

I have no idea what auto check did here.

0% and a stable price works for me.  We are turning a small profit. My share is around 700 a month.

Clifton mining area is running hot every time we get to 91-93f. 4 units shut down.  I can turn them back on at night.
We are going to try moving the venting around. As I rather we run at 1200th and not 1010th.  The warehouse owners 10 s17 pros have been dropped to normal from turbo. so he is doing 520th vs 550 th.

Diff is drifting higher

Thank you all for having mined with Bitminter.

Mining has now ended on the Bitminter servers after 9 years of almost non-stop mining.

Unless P2pool is still around, I believe Slush pool is now the last of the old pools that is still up. I hope they keep going!

You have always been a class act. Thank you for helping me to start back in 2012.
13703  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MicroBT WhatsMiner M30S++, M30S+, M30S, M31S+ Hardware Specifics on: June 30, 2020, 08:33:38 PM
Yeah both my p20 psu's rated for 3300 watts died.

they were replaced with p21s psu rated for 3600 watts.

I would just prefer to run all this gear at 3000 watts.

Rather then push like they do.
13704  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MicroBT WhatsMiner M30S++, M30S+, M30S, M31S+ Hardware Specifics on: June 30, 2020, 07:19:25 PM
Mine are

m10
m20

it annoys me that they did not target 3000 watts for normal

as the margin of error would be 3000/205 = 14.7 amps easy peasy on gear.

they could give a higher setting  actually four settings

2400 watts for efficient
3000 watts for low
3300 watts for normal
3600 watts for high

Be careful of your gear on long term runs at 3750 watts.

I have been mining since 2012 and you can get in a zone that seems good but in reality you are just exceeding the true safety of your parts.

If this is so you could see fails in months 3-5 as the ever so slight over watts is like fine sand paper slowly but surely wearing out a wire's coating.

A better example are marble steps that wear out over a long time decades before it shows.
13705  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to eliminate Large mining pools on: June 30, 2020, 04:36:35 PM
The other thing that has been discussed is that we do.....nothing.
A few smaller pools closed / closing now after the halving. In 4 years it's going to happen again. But, there will probably be a few of the larger ones that go away too.
3.125BTC + fees might will just not leave enough money in it unless we are at $50K+USD per BTC.
In 2028 unless something else changes when we hit 1.6BTC per block + fees if BTC is not worth a ton you can bet difficulty is going to plummet, and the small PPS pools where people come to play are going to pop up all over the place.

Just my view.

If BTC goes wayyyy up in price then you can ignore all of the above.
If it falls to sub $3K and stays there then it's going to happen sooner.

-Dave

This is also  my model for BTC.

'At the current price and difficulty right now the best gear does 30 watts a th.
It is about 100 th so it does 3 kwatts an hour or 75 kwatts a day
100 th earns 7.10 a day'

a bit math lazy but close enough and easy to visualize.
So the best machine would earn

$7.10-$0.75  = $6.35 a day or 300 days to break even at 1 cent power/costs and 2,000 per machine
$7.10-$1.50  = $5.60 a day or 358 days to break even at 2 cent power/costs
$7.10-$2.25  = $4.85 a day or 412 days to break even at 3 cent power/costs
$7.10-$3.00  = $4.10 a day or 487 days to break even at 4 cent power/costs
$7.10-$3.75  = $3.35 a day or 597 days to break even at 5 cent power/costs

These are the fundamental economic pressure of mining costs.

1)Coin price
2)gear price
3)difficulty
4)power and infrastructure costs

Nothing makes them go away

Try to create a mining algorithm to encourage my 1.2 ph to mine in a small pool. with 10 guys like myself is not going to do much.

We are pretty much locked into this set of factors above 1-4.

I can write pages on the edge large builders and large pools and large exchanges have.
Truth is they can not be stopped other than governments going after them.
I am not sure I like that idea.

I consider this time to be low tide and I look around for a decent shell win the mud here and there.
I do not try to launch a new boat.

well you could buy 2 x 2500 = 5000 s19pro gives you five hundred off. rest would be lost.

which is not a lot. but it would be something.
13708  Other / Meta / Re: Trust System on: June 29, 2020, 11:12:46 PM
Trust system.  Other then myself I trust buysolar more then anyone else on this forum.

Why is that?

We live in the same town.
I know him his relatives.
I know his business.
I know the workers for his business.
I know a lot of his customers.

We are partners on a small to middle sized mining farm.

How much do I trust him.

More then 10,000 less then 100,000 usd.

There is no one on the forum that I would trust for 10,000 other then him.

Do I use the trust system yes.
Have I been trusted for some group buys Yes.
I held funds for many people.

Is it possible that I could turn bad. Yes.

so if you want to trust people with the trust system as your only guide don’t.
The larger the coin be as sure as you can.

Having been stationed in Subic Bay, Philippines  back in the late 1970's. I got to see third world poverty conditions for the first time.
It was pretty bad in comparison to a USA slum in a city which I had experienced as I lived close to one in New York City. I would not be surprised that there are garbage pickers in the dumps trying to make a buck.

13711  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When will covid-19 disappear? on: June 29, 2020, 02:10:58 AM
Honestly, I am beginning to conclude that this pandemic has come to stay with us like malaria and typhoid fever or even like the regular pneumonia and be treated as such. I can't wait for such a time to come, but I know it will definitely come. Did we not experience the Spanish Flu and was it not later solved too?

If we are to be like the Spanish Flu it will become less of a threat next April,

Assuming that New Jersey and New York numbers are close to real.

25% had it already

based on most virus about 30 to 35 %. do not catch it.

Thus. 25 + 30 = 55% to 60% are done with Covid-19  in those 2 states.

If the remains 40 to 45 % left catch it the death rate will be lower because the sick and old and demented in nursing homes took a huge hit.

If stats are real I expect NJ to end up with 26,000 to 30,000 dead of 9,000,000. with a basic trial to next to zero in March-May 2021

so 26,000/9,000,000. x 8,000,000,000 = 23,111,111. world wide dead to maybe 26,666,666 dead max.  based on NJ numbers.

to under stand this consider WW2 about 85,000,000 dead when world pop was about 2.3 billion

All rough numbers  and just a guess.

Once a plagiarist will be always a plagiarist, so he will be find soon as he made new account(s)  Wink
100% true.
Once a thief - always a thief.
Once a liar - always a liar.

I reported several members that are non-stop creating new account (after they are banned in forum)
but they are so stupid that they can't learn anything, and they continue to do plagiarism.

One smart guy told that doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results is Insanity (A.Einstein) and I would add Stupidity also.  Grin

Sad you believe this.  Always is an extremely powerful word to use no exceptions.

I will tell you if you believe your post you will always be unhappy.

The reality is some thieves reform and some liars reform.

But I am sure you will post back a denial of your being wrong.

Ohh by the way that is pretty much very close to being plagiarized content.

I think I can find it some where some place if I google it.

Do you think If I found it you would be banned for plagiarizing. Since there should always be no exceptions.

BTW I don't want you to get in trouble for what you just posted.

here is one point

here is the second point

https://www.amazon.com/Once-Liar-Always/dp/B000TPNIS2

I don't consider you to be guilty of anything wrong, but a literal interpretation of the rules as posted here on BitcoinTalk.org would say you are wrong.

I am just saying this to bring the point that absolute belief leads us down a fucked up road.
13713  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will I know if one of my miners ever finds a block? on: June 28, 2020, 05:49:56 PM
Reality is you would be fine if it took 2 years. But you would be Pissed if you hit 2 blocks in 10 days or so.

5 ph earns 0.00000792 btc a day x 5000 = 0.0396 a day or a block in about 22-23 weeks

so if you check it for 23 weeks and see 0 or 1 blocks cool.

and if you see  2 or 3 blocks fuck I screwed myself.

I can tell you no way do you know what the numbers would be after 23 weeks until the time passes.
13714  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My T15 stop working on: June 28, 2020, 04:22:51 PM
Take the example of an old school incandescent light bulb. make it with 1000 hour life you have an endless demand for new ones.

So if have your area constantly lit up and that is very important you must have a few spare lightbulbs. Who cares light bulbs are cheap.

In mining the new gear has constant use and built in psu's

If you buy 5 s17 pro's or more you should make sure to have a spare psu for when the light bulb burns out.
If you only have 1 t17 or 1 s17 or 1 t15 or 1 t17 it is hard to justify having a spare psu.

At op I may have a source for a spare psu if you are USA based. I have a guy in North Carolina.

He has been great with whatsminer m20s parts and I know he has Bitmain repair parts.

https://hmtech.co/

from here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217069.msg53660629#msg53660629

he has supplied 2 p21 psus to me. and both of my m20s now work.

he also got steamtyme the op of that thread fixed up.

try him.
13715  Other / Meta / Re: The curious case of the forum member distrusting Satoshi on: June 28, 2020, 03:10:29 AM
Satoshi is the US government, and we are all stupid to not believe otherwise, and who trusts the government

Strong chance that it has government  or big business all over it.

So to mark satoshi with a negative feedback and with and exclusion mark would be more reasonable then seems at first.

I wish I had the idea I would have done it just to have some fun.

If he was one guy he waited to long to cash early blocks.  By holding them he created a power that could hit BTC link a pandemic. So trusting him may not be too wise.

Yeah he could be a business.
He could be a government.
He could be dead.

But those early coins are a big threat and they serve to hold back the price of BTC.

So yeah to trust satoshi would be risky.
To invest long term hoping to reach 50k would be risky.
But what do I know.
13716  Other / Meta / Re: The curious case of the forum member distrusting Satoshi on: June 28, 2020, 02:42:54 AM
I think he was smart to do so. I would suggest some DT1 members do so.

It is late and I am tired but I may consider doing it in the morning.

It is said he owns 1,000,000+ btc  and he just lets it sit.

It is not very trustworthy for him to have done this deliberatively as he could case huge damage to the market with cashing out those coins.

In a way we are all at his mercy.

What would happen to BTC if he simply went to block 10 and moved it? Followed by block 11 and just moved  about 10 blocks a day for a few months in a row.

Awful lot of power in 'his' hands.

block 1 is supposed to be un cashable

block 2 has 50.01477486 btc in it
below are blocks 2,3,4

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1HLoD9E4SDFFPDiYfNYnkBLQ85Y51J3Zb1
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1FvzCLoTPGANNjWoUo6jUGuAG3wg1w4YjR
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/15ubicBBWFnvoZLT7GiU2qxjRaKJPdkDMG

If he were to simply move those 3 blocks to a new address it would shock BTC

It he were to move block after block after block after block  it would crush the price.
13717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Setup mining Rig 6 Pin to Dual PCIe 8 Pin (6+2) one GPU one Riser same cable on: June 27, 2020, 02:19:44 PM
The GPUs consumes around 20-35% of their power from the PCIe slot, and the rest from the 8-6pin connectors, therefore if you put all risers in one PSU and the rest on the other PSU, the load between them will be quite unbalanced.

The best would be to use 6 GPUs (both top connectors and risers) + motherboard in one PSU and the other 6 GPUs in the other PSU. Also make sure that the PSUs are below 75% load as philipma1957 suggested. This is true for any PSU if you want them to last.

So , 2 PSU with this mobo is fine then ?

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/B250-MINING-EXPERT/

I read the manual say can 3 PSU , but i want make sure before buying anything

So do you tried 2 PSU same mobo ?

yes i have but you must wire correctly.

you need to isolate the psu’s from each other.

a pcie riser can do this for you.

13718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Setup mining Rig 6 Pin to Dual PCIe 8 Pin (6+2) one GPU one Riser same cable on: June 27, 2020, 03:56:47 AM
Or simply run less gpus save the cost of a new psu. See how 5 or 6 gpus do earning money.

Vs spending 100 -200 more for a second psu which can be easy to mis-wire.

If 5 work well and earn profit. he can add his last 2 with a lessor psu like this one.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1200W-750W-Breakout-Board-W-Button-for-HP-PSU-GPU-Mining-Ethereum-12x-8P-Cable/153980625279?

note blue jack which means platinum

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-1200W-Platinum-Plus-656364-B21-660185-001-643933-001-643956-101-Power-Supply/192423650732?

this can run 4 gpus. so he can offload some from the rosewill   maybe do 3 with the rosewill and 4 with the hp psu

trust me the rosewill would rather do   600  watts then  840

use 2 wires to the gpu and 1 wire to the pcie board.
then use the data cable to plug in the mobo.
3  pcie wires per gpu   and a data cable to the mobo.  this isolates the 2 psu's and no shorts.

now running 8 GPU ,
x1 5700 ( no riser is normal in mobo pcie slot ) in amd software 132w
x3 580 8gb riser ( like image above ) in amd software  x1 78w + x1 83w + x1 80w
x3 570 8gb riser ( like image above ) in amd software 92w + 90w + 91w
x1 1060 6gb riser ( like image above ) in phoenixminer 72w
All riser 580's 570's and 1060
Total 719w / 720w

now Time 2;48 hours

719 of that 1200 watt psu should be okay.

check once or twice everyday.

let us know how well it keeps doing.

A followup would be nice. As many rosewills don’t like doing 75% 24/7/365

but you are at 60% so I think you are good.

13720  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Make it just a little more difficult to create a new account. on: June 26, 2020, 11:36:36 PM
-snip-If you want to do things fast you can give money and a traceable confirmed email.

So fast sign up is money and verified email.

Slow unknown is play the adding and timing game.
Here's the crutch:

Assume we do implement the system of "wait and calculate" where we use numbers. Actually, let's make this a steel man and say there's a bit more involvement. If there is any route for this to become automated (I have seen data entry for captchas et al from years ago) then it absolutely will be - your bottleneck is not the wait time. One would need to determine the identity of the user that is registering the accounts, otherwise you could just open the registration in a different session (i.e. switching IP/fingerprint/etc).

This is what happens when the account spammers decide to attack your method: they take the 5 minute hit, and then start pumping out accounts past that point since concurrent registration is possible.

Which would be only worth while to do if coins take a bull run again.

I have a lot of pc's with different ip's scattered about nj

Lets say I want to make 15 'fake' anon accounts a day .
 I need 3 pc's doing it on 3 ip's I have 3 separate tips and internet accounts.
so there is the setup time.
Writing a script to do it.
Once I do 3 on my ip i have to reset my ip's if i don't want to pay for owning an evil ip.
Yeah I could do it at no gear cost as I have the gear.

I have separate pc's and internet services.

In fact i don't need a scrypt I could manually do 3 at a time using teamviewer for 2 not in my house and 1 using my house's ineter net.

So yeah 30 minutes to maybe 60 minute a day.  I could do 9 accounts.

I would think a lot of people have access to many more internet accounts then I do.

So then 'free' accounts would need longer timers than my suggested amounts.

And it may just succeed in normal good people saying fuck it. I won't bother.
