Not 100% sure but Paypal founders has nothing to do with todays eBay Paypal.

I doubt this would be financaly wise for them, they are sucking money out of every catch they can (but not with Bitcoin).

I feel like a founders of a company still have indirect influence over the company they created. This is like saying MSFT doesn't respect what Bill Gates thinks simply because he left the reins to Ballmer. I'm sure the old founders' actions of investing in Bitpay and not Paypal is sure to stir some discussion in the boardrooms

This is totaly different stuff. Like saying Youtube founders have any influence while I believe they are not even around Youtube anymore. When you sell the whole company to a large corporation and when you leave you are out.

Odalv why not?

That's probably the best answer, yeah why not?

you might get a bank calling you to ask why you're wiring x amount of USD, but they'll still let it go through

They sometimes call even for a few dollars amount (mostly cc related).

1385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp has taken over MTGOX on volume! on: August 07, 2013, 10:05:20 PM
Chainsaw if that would happen (large market order 95-110) on bitstamp i bet in few hours we would be around 100 nothing more - and gox wouldn't even move because of that.
1386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 07, 2013, 07:55:31 PM
Volume is starting to scare me. 10kish is ok for a weekend day, but mid-week...

During the peak in mid-April, weren't we around 200k-500kish any given day?

I blame it on the bots. Dont know what they are doing, but it has to be them. They are the only things holding us back from massive volume and $10,000 btc.

My uneducated & uninformed guess is there isn't much to do on an exchange when it's a pain getting the $$$ out.   Sad

Or in, apparently.

Please tell me what kind of problem is getting $$$ in gox? Why deposit $$$ when you can deposit cheap BTC.
1387  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: August 03, 2013, 12:10:26 PM
Oda.krell you might be wrong 5 times now - this is lets say 10% percentage of loss. But if you listen to Goomboo being wrong doesn't matter because you would earn 40% and another 10% in the meantime (real figures in july). So what is the point of being wrong? Read again previous Goomboo's post about fast loss cutting and long rally profiting.

Vokain I agree, what I am trying to say is that Bitstamp changed soooo much since Bitfinex started using them and one should expect unrationality (there were so many examples when I was screaming "what a stupid buy").
1389  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 03, 2013, 11:28:35 AM
It is not true that the bid side on Bitstamp is weak, there is much hidden power behind, especially since most of the buys are driven via Bifinex.

I'm saying it could be greater than it currently if arbitrageurs could withdraw their USD from Gox to buy at Bitstamp to better equalize the price diffference.

Yes, but if this would be possible the difference would get lower and lower (probably gox going down to bitstamp level). Because of Bitfinex Bitstamp is sometimes so unrational (like 400 buys now).

Anyone said Mars? I though we are going to da Moon...
1392  Economy / Speculation / Re: 110 is the new 135 on: August 01, 2013, 08:02:14 PM
I don't see any particular reason of why the bear market should end, There is still profit taking to be done people.

Few whales and Adamsgtbit said so. It should be true.
1393  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 31, 2013, 06:08:56 PM
go ahead, trade on this "if it happened b4 it will happen again" nonsense

You mean the part where everyone knows Bitcoin will recover and rise to new incredible highs?  Grin

it has been up since 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012

and prices in 2009<2010<2011<2012<2013

Yup, but "someone" here thinks we can't base our expectation on the past.  Wink

you can't, if so we could expect to go up 20,000% in 4 years

nonsense, nonsense, nonsense

just look at the last 6 months of trading, understand why price moved the way it did, look around at what is happening now on the dev side of things, and then speculate.

I didn't say X%, I said Bitcoin will recover and rise to new incredible highs.

well sure,

but it has very little to do with past price movement.
and everything to do with development, growth, increased confidence and or increased fear of collapsing fiat.

I don't like to say that but everything you wrote in the second line is bullshit. What development? New startup exchanges will bring new highs? Sure... (first they need to get any users then we will talk on). Growth? This whale rally is not growth as you are telling. Increased confidence? Sure, but it can be gone in a matter of hours. Collapsing fiat? Bring more popcorn I am having fun.

To make it clear, sure this has much to do with price, but not at the moment as AdamstgBit is wishing to rally because of that.

if i dump my money in bitcoin, you think my wife will see a penny of that money, during the divorce?

I'll say " I was pissed off so i gambled it all away "

Now we know the reason for so many whale buys lately.
1396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 30, 2013, 09:59:56 PM
Did gox just crashed, nothing's coming through the websocket
Yes for ten minutes.
1397  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 29, 2013, 07:41:16 PM
The only option now is to buy the whole company. Whales?
1398  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Speculators: Stop using Mt. Gox. on: July 27, 2013, 02:40:38 PM
Nothing so strange when the withdrawals are problematic - no other reason. Why would sell when you can not get money and huge decrease in price is not on radar and why would you deposit when you can buy cheaper on other places.

When / if gox will settle down those withrawal problems, your charts probably will reverse.

Anyway the second graf is cool.
1399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market has peaked, sell off incoming. on: July 27, 2013, 01:48:49 PM
They are not doing this to profit few pennies but to profit few tens percentage. They do not need to buy back in one day, they can buy back in 1 month when price will be lower xy%.
1400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you agree (serious poll)? on: July 25, 2013, 12:02:08 PM
