1381  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many Bitcoins needed to retire in 5-6 years? on: August 04, 2014, 08:38:15 PM
>200 BTC if we see another bull run to >10000 USD.

Interesting question, but quite redundant as 95% of the users here are under 35 years old!
1382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what are faucets? on: August 04, 2014, 08:35:48 PM
Faucets were used in the older days to introduce people to BTC. Now they are mostly used by people with too much time on their hand, collecting BTC from 100s of faucet sites Wink

I rember when BTC faucets gave upto 1 BTC!
1383  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: August 04, 2014, 08:07:27 PM
I apologize if this has been discussed before...

There is an implied "put" option a swap taker has. The Swap Taker can take at a specific rate for a specified period of time. Let's say BTC 0.0055% per day for 30 days. Let's say that someone posts 0.0050% for 30 days, then the Swap Taker can take the new swap and cancel the original swap.

I do not have a problem with allowing the person to cancel, especially if they are cancelling a loosing trade. Since the swap provider does not have a similar cancellation ability, I think there should be a cancellation fee for the unused remaining time. That way, the swap taker will be more careful about how many days they take.

This would only discourage traders. We don't need something like that!

The only possible solution would be that if you take a loan for a trade, you can only close that loan if you ALSO close the trade. But that wouldn't be liked by traders too Wink
1384  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 04, 2014, 07:45:12 PM
First batch of TREZORs from eshop orders are on their way to happy owners! ;-)

Mine was shipped too. Where there any first editions in that orders? Wink

Those paintings look awesome. I'd take one but I am in the progress of moving and I can't justify such an amount right now.

Thank you very much. Best of luck with moving and please let me know if we could find something to fit your interior later on.
Cheers!

Heh, I will check out my new place for a spot perfect for a painting. Then I need to convince my SO to get one Tongue

Will get back to you eventually (I hope haha)
1386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NAS :: Descendant of NXT 100% PoS|More Exchanges|WinNAS is ready! on: August 04, 2014, 07:39:24 PM
Personal Opinion:
Yes, this coin could be doing so much better, but there is literally no community that is doing something about it. I had some good plans for it, but NAS_coin was convinced it would be better to wait with the promotion and the site until WINnas was released. It is sad that there is now no promotion even thought NAS now has the most advanced NXT-clone technology!

(Disclaimer: I indeed was paid once to promote NAS, but I am not involved in NAS for a long time now!)

1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: August 04, 2014, 04:05:15 PM
My wallet is asking me to update, but when I click 'OK', I get the following message:

"The hash of the downloaded update does not equal the one supplied by the blockchain. Aborting update."

What do I need to do to fix this?

download it again @ nxtclient.org

it is a bug in the saved blockhash. Just install it over the old files, nothing more.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Is it necessary to update though? Because everything seems to work fine as it is.

It was no critical update, but you will need to do it sometimes, because I don't know if you can even install newer versions with that bug. Dunno though.

1391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 04, 2014, 03:36:49 PM
We commit to admitting at least the following number of people each month into the direct signup program.

Month 1: 10k people

At least means at minimum not maximum. At least thats how I read that.

They probably have some issues since a lot of people signed up and system cant take it.

yes, but that means that they could stop new account if they wanted to!

1393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: August 04, 2014, 02:41:23 PM
Why FIMK client is lighter than NXT's? it is based on Nxt client but requires less RAM so better for a RaspberryPi

because their blockchain is still smaller and they have less nodes ect.
1394  Economy / Lending / Re: [WARNING] Do not send collateral to a newby account offering loans! on: August 04, 2014, 11:42:19 AM
So-uh. How much did you get scammed out of? I guess if you wanted to get a loan you can use escrow to hold the collateral.

Nothing, but many people did. And those newby "lenders" are spamming this forum. Thought it would be good to warn some of them!
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: WTS Stellar in bulk (24million) on: August 04, 2014, 12:33:34 AM

BTCillionairs?
1398  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: August 03, 2014, 11:15:10 PM
1000$ 2014
10000$ 2015
100000$ 2016
1000000$ 2017

That would be nice, enough time to buy a lot and a nice reward Grin

2014 800$

2015 7000$

2016 35,000$

2018-2019 200,000$
Those numbers are insane. Why are you expecting a 10x growth per year?
What are you basing this on?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metcalfe%27s_law

Metcalfe's law states that the value of a telecommunications network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n2). First formulated in this form by George Gilder in 1993,[1] and attributed to Robert Metcalfe in regard to Ethernet, Metcalfe's law was originally presented, circa 1980, not in terms of users, but rather of "compatible communicating devices" (for example, fax machines, telephones, etc.).[2] Only more recently with the launch of the Internet did this law carry over to users and networks as its original intent was to describe Ethernet purchases and connections.[3] The law is also very much related to economics and business management, especially with competitive companies looking to merge with one another.
1399  Economy / Economics / Re: How much do you value your credit score? on: August 03, 2014, 11:09:28 PM
I always read about this thing, but it must be an american issue. Never heard it here in Continental Europe.

Here you get loans equal to the securities, incomes or people vouching for you, equal. And I think that is how credits should work.

Why in gods name should you be PUNISHED for not using your CC and paying off things early??
1400  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling member accounts on: August 03, 2014, 10:54:33 PM

BAM. This account will be nearly worthless, now that it's a known purchased account  Tongue

How did you find so quick? Were there any filters for post count and activity?

I went to "members" and sorted for post count, yes
