1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question Of Thought About Crypto Winter on: April 18, 2023, 09:04:41 AM
Question of thought...

I made a research recently, i found out that Bitcoin reached nearly $19,500 in 2017 and later fell below $3,300 in 2018.
Source https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/cryptocurrency/what-is-crypto-winter/

1) would've other crypto's survived during that time ?.
2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
Bitcoin is different from other Altcoins because it has some features that is not belongs to others. One of these features is that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency. It can be transmitted independently all over the world without any restriction. Bitcoin is currently popular as a payment method for various organizations and gradually its area is increased. After the discovery of Bitcoin, other altcoins have been created. Moreover, altcoins are often prone to scams, which is not happen in the case of Bitcoin. Even after a long period of time, Bitcoin is able to reach its highest level, but it is not possible for altcoins. So many altcoins have been created and die. But all aspects bitcoin is the best.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 18, 2023, 08:31:59 AM
I think there is no need to bring people who don't want to invest in Bitcoin or they are not interested. If you try to inspire them on your own responsibility, many times they may react negatively to you. Also, since Bitcoin is a highly volatile currency, a large dumping of the price can have a big impact on you. Just remember as you won't get any profits there you should not do anything that affects you later. But yes, as a conscious person you have a responsibility to give people some good message. You can explain it to them from that point of view. But if they take your point positively then you can enlighten them.
1383  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: April 17, 2023, 05:40:22 PM
If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich. Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment. There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage. So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?
I buy Bitcoin as a long term investment and I am not willing to give my money to anyone else. I will hold bitcoins in my own wallet. If the bitcoin crash happened today, my fortune would be blown. Because I had the opportunity to buy some bitcoins. I want Bitcoin to crash but the reality is different. That is never possible. btc was already above $30k there is no shortage of buyers to buy at 28 or 29k so how can i expect bitcoin crash. At the moment I am a Bitcoin holder and when the price of BTC drops again as a buyer I will try to buy btc as much as possible. So don't expect anything that doesn't correspond to reality. Even if the price of BTC goes down, my attraction to BTC will never decrease.
1384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel bad while paying with BTC? on: April 17, 2023, 05:24:27 PM
I don't know anything about buying pizza with 30 bitcoins but we all heard the story of buying pizza with 10000 bitcoins. If you are a strong holder of Bitcoin then holding Bitcoin is important for you. But if your financial situation is not so good you have to convert bitcoins to fiat then there is no benefit. I am interested in paying BTC payment. I collect bitcoin separately for holding. In that case I have no concern about this payment method. When Bitcoin will be bullish, someone can feel bad emotionally. But it is impossible to reconcile emotion with reality.
1385  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a place in the world you could live like a king via sig campaigns? on: April 16, 2023, 12:02:44 PM
How much can you earn from the sig campaigns per month? As per my rough estimates, the maximum you can earn is around $400 to $600. Forget about living like a "King", you can't even have a decent standard of living with this much money. Inflation is in double digits and you need at least $2,000 per month after taxes to have a comfortable lifestyle. And I am talking about living comfortably, and not about living like a "King". On the other hand, if you are OK with a very basic hand-to-mouth existence, the I guess $400-600 per month should be enough.

I think this is truly depends on which countries you are talking about. I am from an Asian country and I can relate with OP. Based on the information there, he's talking about the bonus and all the other thing you get for the best poster on the campaign. Pretty much sums up close to $300. If not, let's just take half of it, means $150. So in a month you get $600. In my local currency, that is over 60,000 tk. If you want a decent apartment, you will need 10k from it. And fancy one comes with 20k+
So you are still left with more than 40k. All the other expenses could cost you around 10-15k
You are left with 20k+ every month. So yes, based on from where you are, you can live like a "king". You can have a pretty good savings too. And let me tell you, it is not a very basic hand-to-mouth existence.
Agreed your thought totally it depend on which area someone live. Because in all the developed countries, it is not possible to do anything with 300-600 dollars. And there are some countries where everything has to be obtained by spending more money. On the other hand there are some third world countries who can lead their lives smoothly.
Europe, America or some of the Middle East countries are more expensive for leading daily life where $600 is not sufficient. But some third world countries that will be healthy amount even after spending much, extra money can be kept as savings.
1386  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: April 16, 2023, 11:30:38 AM
New invention of science is beneficial but it depends on proper use. AI has made the work of users much easier today. Again, using this same AI, people are also doing various prohibited activities. Although there are good comments about this AI at present, It is definitely beneficial for mankind. It can also play a leading role in creating chaos in the society. It is difficult to say which photo is made by AI and which is the original. In the case of a respectable person in the society, if he is accused of anything by a fake picture created by AI, it can create a huge havoc in the society. Considering the negative and positive aspects, the scope and advantages of AI should be increased.
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Speculation & Gambling" - Warren Buffett Critisize on: April 16, 2023, 07:48:32 AM
Warren Buffett's hostility to Bitcoin is not new ‍and negative commentators on Bitcoin will never find its positive side. Bitcoin is highly volatile and many people have been able to fulfill their dreams through it and there are many who have made high returns in a very short of time. due to which he may called Bitcoin as a gambling token. But this fact is not acceptable to Warren Buffett. For this reason he advised to the authority to stop it's using form the way china stop it. But I took his comments more positively. I prefer tokens that have the power to change the wheel of fortune certainly that is my most wanted desire.
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: April 16, 2023, 07:20:06 AM
Bitcoin is a much better investment than good for many reasons. I would be very careful selling your wife’s jewellery though. If she loves them for sentimental reasons then you better be damn sure that you are going to make good profit in quick time.

If she is willing to give you at least 10 years to sit on your bitcoin & do nothing then it’s as close to a guarantee as you can get that you will turn her jewellery money into major profits.
Not only bitcoin but gold also increases in price over time, although bitcoin has gained hundreds of times more than gold in the last 10 years, no one can guarantee that the price of bitcoin will increase hundreds of times more than gold in the next 10 years. So if this jewelery is op's wife's only jewelery and she has no alternative jewellery, then op has made a wrong decision.  But if op's wife has alternative such jewelery then this decision is not op's wrong. but the op's actions should be commended.  And wish him success in his plans
Agreed, OP has taken a right decision in that regard. Because he realizes that Bitcoin is going to be bullish after a certain period of time and if the price cross it's previous ath ‍, he is guaranteed to make a big profit. Moreover, Op must not take such a big decision without his wife's permission. He succeeded in convincing his wife about the Bitcoin situation which may have helped his wife to sell her jewellery. If he had sold when the OP made this post he could almost withdraw his investment if he want. However, it seems that he must plan for the long term with the potential of the market.
1389  Economy / Reputation / Re: 5 Years, 5000 Merit and 7000 Posts. on: April 16, 2023, 06:52:21 AM
I just realized that today is my 5th anniversary as a member of the Bitcointalk community, most of you don't know me and probably have not seen any of my posts, but I can assure you that I had a wild journey which I never saw coming, form a random newbie with a silly user name asking some stupid questions, to top 10 most merited user at some point, I don't even recall how all these events played out, not even sure how I managed to write 7000 posts despite being busy most of the time, but shit happens.  Cheesy

My story is probably isn't new, many members built better profiles than mine in a short time, but the thing you need to understand is that it isn't difficult AT ALL to have a good place in this forum, you don't need coding skills or to be able to speak multiple languages, you don't even need to know how Bitcoin actually works, all you have to do is remain consistent and do your best to learn and share knowledge.

I would like to thank everyone who is contributing something to the forum, keep up the good work.

Now a new journey begins, and hopefully, 5 years later I would be able to write another boring story like this one.

First of all congratulations you @mikeywith for your successful journey. You have played an important role in the forum with dedication for 5 years passed by sharing and imparting your knowledge. 1390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 15, 2023, 04:57:36 PM
indeed out there I don't care for those who say negative things about btc because I know they don't know enough about the performance of bitcoin to allow them to say that. they look odd at the principle they maintain which is to fully trust the decisions of the bank.
I have similarity with you in this concern. I strongly believe in Bitcoin. I still buy bitcoin and if the price of bitcoin drops drastically tomorrow my interest in Bitcoin will not decrease. Though i won't find that dip anymore. But I have always taken the DCA technique for my bitcoin holding. I suspect that those who talk negatively about bitcoin are either trying to find the bitcoin from the dip or they just don't know about bitcoin. Whatever the SEC or the Fed says that won't stop me from holding Bitcoin. World leaders are now worried about Bitcoin. Many of them are regretting why they didn't collect bitcoins from the dip. So even if the price of Bitcoin rise up, I find a dip. I will continue with my strategy until I collect bitcoins according to my expectation.
1391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: April 15, 2023, 02:21:00 PM
You make a really good point that it will take some time for everyone to fully adopt the use of cryptocurrencies as legal tender because not everyone is familiar with them or knows how to use them for transactions. I'm not sure, but I believe that the government of El Salvador should host seminars for citizens to provide them with introductory lessons on cryptocurrencies. Most shop owners  will have interest since its legality is coming  from the government  till today  I love the decision  that has been taking by their government.
I can agree that when El Salvador made BTC a legal tender in 2021, many people did not know what it was and how to use it, i even believe that the government that made the law didn't even know so much about BTC then, but the knowledge has been growing in El Salvador since then and i feel most merchants now have the knowledge to accept BTC if they want to, probably for most merchats who are yet to adopt BTC payment, it may be because of lack of interest, rather than not being familiar with how to implement it, which is very easy.
Agree with you. When something new is started, it takes time to implement. It will be the same in El Salvador. Initially people didn't know about Bitcoin now after knowing they are showing great interest and it continues to this day. Citizens of El Salvador are now well aware of Bitcoin. People who were unfamiliar with Bitcoin even a few days ago are now starting to dream about Bitcoin. Many people are also planning to start using Bitcoin in their business and maybe it will be implemented in a short of time. One of the great things about Bitcoin is that Bitcoin has been taught to the general public in El Salvador, in addition to government agencies, but also privately. The results of which will soon be reflected in El Salvador and El Salvador will have a better blockchain experience than some other big countries. Moreover, they have already announced that they have waived tax on all types of technological goods for Bitcoin and Blockchain based work which has won worldwide acclaim.

1392  Economy / Economics / Re: How do feels losing money? on: April 15, 2023, 01:40:31 PM
Some days looks like a curse day, I wanted to keep it to myself but I felt it more reasonable to share. I involved in some business investment which initially the promise was really good after week of deal, I just back from work, I saw a call from my colleague we did the business together and I call back to hear him crying on phone. That the business we involved into is fake and the office is close, the MD has disappeared, for two minutes I was shivering with sweat because that's the highest amount I have involved business so far. Am regretting to have used in bitcoin by now I would have be on advantage with bullish price.

I have not gotten myself this days. Do you feel down when such sudden hits happens to you?
It is painful to accept such a situation. You have made a big mistake as you invested a big amount of money without knowing anything. You should have known that never ্give money on someone's word. He can be your office colleague or whoever. At present there are various types of fraud at every level. Your colleague may also be involved with it or he may also be cheated. Fewer people make such mistakes in the present age. If you had kept investing in Bitcoin, you would not have faced this loss., no one could have stolen your money today. You were the owner of your own money and not depend on anyone else. I personally also lost in trading business but it doesn't feel like a loss anymore where I learned something from it.
1393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which of your friends and relatives deals with bitcoin? on: April 15, 2023, 01:14:27 PM
Some opportunities come in every person's life, someone can use it and some fail. Your university friend made a big change in your life by letting you know about Bitcoin. Maybe many others like you have been aware of Bitcoin but haven't taken advantage of the opportunity.

Not only did your friend play a key role in your conversion, but you yourself were positive, which is why you easily adopted Bitcoin with you. I was also influenced by a friend of mine. I will be forever grateful to him. But the sad thing is that the person through whom I entered this Bitcoin world and change my life But the person who was not able to bring about any change in his life. That is why I think both providers and receivers should be positive for change his own life.
1394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you withdraw bitcoin this week? on: April 15, 2023, 10:51:56 AM
An investor knows better what he should do. If he is taking a big risk in Bitcoin investment which later becomes a big threat then it is better to take his profit and if you think it won't have much of an impact on investing in the long run, I'd say this is not the proper time. Some investors may be getting around 1x profit right now as a result of investing in bearish times but the way Bitcoin is trending now has the potential to double in the next few days. Bitcoin is capable of changing its movement at any time so investors have to take appropriate decisions. Some investors think to selling and buying from the dip. But current conditions portray bullishness accordingly so in my opinion it is not the right time to withdraw money from bitcoin.
1395  Economy / Economics / Re: Without government job we can survive on: April 14, 2023, 06:20:54 PM
Everyone expected to get government job. But is it possible for everyone to get this government job? Of course not and the government can't afford it either. But one thing should be kept in mind that to keep running the wheels of the economy of a country mainly dependent on the private sector.

As much as people developed of any country, there will be more economically more stronger government. If citizen can be an entrepreneur then he does not need a government job rather he can donate enough amount to the government. If you want to do something good, it is better to depend on yourself instead of depending on government jobs.
1396  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people stay poor? on: April 14, 2023, 05:57:26 PM
What you say is the reality. Nowadays the richest are getting richer. New investors have to do a lot of hard work in that regard where many people are not getting their due reward despite their hard work. Moreover, to build any business organization , a lot of investment is required which is not possible for common people. But there are still some people who can use their talent to reach their goals. It is difficult but still not impossible for the poor people to be rich.
1397  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much return are we expecting next bull run? on: April 14, 2023, 03:07:48 PM
Have been in crypto just over a year now so have yet to experience a bull market and up till now I have just bought and held.

Currently my portfolio is 10% down and am not planning on selling any until I 2x at least.

Bitcoin takes up 30% of my portfolio with the rest in altcoins.

What is everyone expecting in 2024/25 bull run? Is a 10x a good return or should we be hoping for more?

The current price of bitcoin is just a third of the ATH of the moment. And I expect that price will easily be overthrown as the ATH in the next bull run. I expect the bull run in 2025 will easily double the ATH. So, you can expect at least x6 of your current investment. That is given that it follows the usual trend when Bitcoin is on the bull run. But do not put too much on this but take as much profit as you can on mini bull runs so you won't regret it when your expectation does not happen.

Many people hope for a bull run and soon reach a new ATH, but they don't have enough bitcoins, it's better for us to focus on continuing to buy so that when a bull run we get a real profit rather than just thinking bull run but not buying when the price is cheap like now.
The Bitcoin bull run is certainly happen, if not today that will happen tomorrow. But the main fact is that how much you have been able to collect Bitcoin. If you think your Bitcoin is adequate amount, you can feel comfortable, but those who have not yet been able to purchase Bitcoin will have no profit. It is not impossible to expect a good return on your investment in any bull market. When a bull market occurs, its previous high is exceeded.
1398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bear Market on: April 14, 2023, 02:43:00 PM
A bear market can be a frustrating time for bitcoin entrepreneurs mostly, but those who are able to adapt and navigate the market conditions can still be successful, meanwhile. A bear market can make it even more unpredictable, increased competition and lower profit margins for existing bitcoin entrepreneurs.
I think there're more problems facing bitcoin entrepreneur in a bear market that I don't even know about as a Newbie.
Remember that someone is expecting a bear market and some expect bullish. Their attitudes are different but the purpose of those two persons are the same who dream about Bitcoin. Those who want Bitcoin from the bearish look for buying opportunities from the dip. And those who are anticipating a bullish movement have bought Bitcoin and are expecting maximum profit from it. Bitcoin would not be bullish if there was no bearish movement in Bitcoin. The Bullish Market basically get the strength from the bearish. So we should accept both of the bullish and bearish trend of bitcoin. When you learn to understand this, you too can expect bearish Bitcoin to strengthen your holdings.
1399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we don't have proper education on bitcoin. on: April 14, 2023, 02:05:59 PM
Even in today's modern world, except for a few people in Europe-America, the general public of the entire world does not have a proper understanding of Bitcoin. Sad Sad Except European-American, anyone who have a little idea about Bitcoin also have misconceptions. Due to this problem, many people are unable to invest in a great platform like Bitcoin even if they want to. This problem may not seem like a big deal to many, but think about third world countries. A sad reality is, in my country 80-90% of the population are not familiar with Bitcoin.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
In fact, If everyone could have a free discussion opportunity about Bitcoin then everyone would get a better idea about Bitcoin very easily. Because a lots of people have interest in Bitcoin but they ignore it for the legal complications. This problem exists in most of the countries in the world. However, the positive thing is that despite being so many adverse situation people know about Bitcoin and are willing to invest in bitcoin. Different countries are now planning about Bitcoin adoption. In the meantime El Salvador has officially accepted Bitcoin and more countries are slowly connecting. I think in this way Bitcoin will create acceptance everywhere and people will gain better knowledge about it.
