1381  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 25, 2023, 03:58:47 PM
Well, I believe renting is not totally a bad idea as long as you can afford it.
However,  I wouldn't subscribe to the idea of taking a loan to foot your rent bills, no matter the percentage of the loan, because he who goes borrowing, goes sorrowing.

I believe you should make long term plans or start saving to get your own house, because there is this internal peace that comes with it.
1382  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do not waste your time on: January 25, 2023, 03:33:27 PM
Time is money, in the affair's of life every second counts.
Wasting your time on frivolities, is not in the best interest of any individual.

Social media has its own positive side, but I believe some persons use it negatively, you can spend precious hour's on social media without knowing how far you've gone. This are precious lost times that cannot be regained.

So let's learn how to be focused on goals and not be distracted.

1384  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The fuel crisis issue in Nigeria and what I found out. on: January 22, 2023, 07:48:26 AM
At times I d wonder which country we dey live so. Every sector d do anything wey d feel like without considering the masses. Em d very  unfortunate sae a country as big as Nigeria no get their own refinery despite being among the top-producing country of petroleum products for the world. Upon that, NNPC still d sell fuel at high price give us

As at today, there is a memo by NNPC, that is going round, that the price of the product has increased to 185, it then means some of us will continue to buy this product at 200 and something Naira and above.
Whether NNPC get memo for the increase price of fuel or not, my state don d sell above the price of 200naira since.

For my state, the price of fuel no be here. We d buy fuel around 400-450 naira per liter. Filling stations just d sell fuel at any given price wey d like since December till now.

Abegy I no fit wait for a change of government for this country. There are so many things to put in place. Enough of the mago-mago wey d happen for country.  So many sectors just d cash out big time because nobody d checkmate them

This one way u dey talk self dey, but omo the corruption for this particular government dey humongous, me I from an oil producing state, I dey see how boys dey do oil bunkering for product way government no gree refine again, like kerosene and diesel.

No forget say the subsidy way government remove, na for only fuel oh, kerosene and diesel ⛽  government no gree subsidize that one oh, upon say our refineries no dey work again oh.
So na illegal oil bunkers dey make this product available at exorbitant price for marketers.
1385  Economy / Economics / Power outages causes huge economic loss in south Africa. on: January 21, 2023, 08:10:23 PM
Power outages in south Africa has caused the death of over 40000 birds in a poultry farm in south Africa, the farmer recounts his losses as the electricity distribution company refuse to bring power for some days.

The farmer said, his ready to press for charges for the damages he has incurred.

The situation has really caused him a homogeneous economic loss, sincerely it's really an unfortunate situation.

1386  Economy / Economics / Re: [Article] How ChatGPT Will Destabilize White-Collar Work on: January 21, 2023, 06:31:10 PM
Going by your assertion, I will agree with you at some point but not entirely.
There are some levels to which automated machines can work, but you still need humans to man those machines and make other supervisory roles.

As technology advances, human beings strategies on role to play in companies and government agencies, that's why the labour force has all the knowledge any industry is looking for. So I believe, the white-collar workers will still be available to offer their technical know-how when ever the needs arises.
1387  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The fuel crisis issue in Nigeria and what I found out. on: January 21, 2023, 04:58:27 PM
I'll continuously ask this same questions:
✓ what are the use of the government owned refineries that we have laying waste, getting dilapidated by each day with no government intentions of revamping them but rather stuck their guns on refining our crude oil outside the country?
✓ Is it that there are underlying factor's holding each administration that comes into power from making use of our refineries in Nigeria or are these foreign refineries owned by those in government in disguise?
✓ Is it not same crude oil we have that other countries such as Saudi also do have and are using it to gainfully develop their country and improve lives of the citizenries or it's ours a curse one?
like where did we really go wrong as a people!!

Going by the situation, this is election period and the so-called incumbent party in government are still campaigning for us to vote for them. Like on what ground should we vote for them, if we can't have access to fuel at affordable pump price now is it when they come back for another four or eight year again that we will. Like this is insane, ridiculous and inconsiderate on the part of the incumbent government of which they don't deserve our vote this time.

According to our government, they've been doing a turn around maintenance of this refineries for God knows how long. I believe the whole subsidy of a thing, is more like government racketeering. That is where the big Boys in the government are cashing out on large scale.
1388  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / The fuel crisis issue in Nigeria and what I found out. on: January 21, 2023, 10:52:34 AM
I was able to make some inquiry as to why, we buy fuel at exorbitant amount and still yet the product is not available to buy.

There has been some lingering issue between the independent marketers, NNPC, NUPENG AND PENGASSAN.

on the side of government it is said that, government makes this product available on a subsidized rate, that is government, takes our crude oil overseas, refines it and sell it at a given price, which is officially 140 naira per litre to independent product marketers which in turn sell it at 150 to retailers, and retailers sell it 165 and. (official government rate).

Now here is the intriguing part

On a normal scenario, NNPC upon bringing this refined product to Nigeria, they are supposed to take it to the government owned depot, so that the government scheduled price will be implemented. But rather, NNPC takes this product to private depot and sell it at 180 naira, those private depot sell this product at 190 naira And above to retailers, that is why some retailers are selling around 200 and something Naira and above.

As at today, there is a memo by NNPC, that is going round, that the price of the product has increased to 185, it then means some of us will continue to buy this product at 200 and something Naira and above.

1389  Economy / Economics / Re: how to overcome inflation for the community on: January 21, 2023, 08:27:11 AM
Overcoming inflation is not really an easy venture, it involves a lot of discipline.

Here are some few tips to overcome inflation, they include but not limited to
1, having a Side hustle, so you can earn residual income apart from your mean stream.

2, Learn how to spend money on basic things you need, and not buying things ordinarily you don't need because it might compound to lot of cash outflow .

3, save money as little as you can, but do more of investment because every return on investment will place you on a good financial pedestrian.

1390  Other / Politics & Society / What are those uncharitably characters that has been normalised? on: January 20, 2023, 11:20:23 AM
As the days goes by, a lot of things has changed, the human desire has also changed too, in psychology of adjustment, is been said that, humans can adapt or adjust to any kind of lifestyle for either survival or for association.

But there are recently change in character and Principles of certain human beings that I find toxic and uncharitable which the society is comforting to it.
For example, a teacher will be teaching in the class, the next thing you will see, is a student walking up to the teacher spewing all manner of insult on the teacher, the next minute another guy is recording the scene and you will hear fellow students laughing on the background, couple of minutes later, the video on the the internet, and you see people viewing it as a comical content and laughing over it.

You can as well go for a party with friends and the drinks on the menu for  you guys are all alcohol, even when they know you don't drink alcohol or having in mind that not everyone coming for the party will drink alcohol, and then nobody is raising an eyebrow, everyone will just conform to it.

You are welcome to share your own experience about toxic things, you think the society has normalized.
1391  Economy / Economics / Another Boom for the crypto market. on: January 18, 2023, 01:50:18 PM
With governmental authorisation, Binance can now provide cryptocurrency services in Poland.

I think it's great that the worldwide community is supporting the cryptocurrency industry, this is a significant boost, and I think more nations will follow the present global trend.

1392  Economy / Economics / Could this be a ploy by Saudi Arabia to explore the crypto market ? on: January 17, 2023, 07:28:09 PM
Saudi Arabia asserts that it is willing to accept payment methods other than the US dollar for international trade.
So could this be a comparative advantage for the crypto market?

1393  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No trains, no planes, no automobiles and NO GAS – Welcome Dem DE-CIVILIZATION on: January 17, 2023, 03:23:32 PM
Is  DE-CIVILIZATION even possible, I think is more of a fiction than a reality. The rate at which civilization and technological advancement is growing, one can only but wonder, if any thing can stop that.

Today the world is talking about cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology ect, which has transformed the world with its potentials, so it's just not possible for us to make a U-turn and start an unthinkable DE-CIVILIZATION.
1394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: January 15, 2023, 08:20:37 PM
The story is insightful, the country man got too greedy, and greed comes with a price and he paid for it.

Relating it to bitcoin is a smart one, as a bitcoin trader, you should know when to draw your curtains and not get too greedy, patience they say, is a virtue, and that should be what a every trader should have.
1395  Economy / Economics / Re: More Money Problems that Bitcoin Solves on: January 15, 2023, 08:00:00 PM
Most governments resist using bitcoin to coexist with ordinary money because they want to create tough monetary policies and financial scenarios that would have a negative impact on the people. This is done to ensure that they can keep the citizens at bay.

If not tell me why won't any country not adopt bitcoin as a legal means of payment considering the potential that it possesses.

Every day, the IMF and the WORLD BANK will announce how this or that will have an impact on the global economy, yet bitcoin can easily fix half of the issues they are predicting.
1396  Economy / Economics / Re: Third of world economy to hit recession in 2023, IMF head warns on: January 14, 2023, 06:46:34 PM
IMF is always wanting to warn nations about economic recession, nations are still struggling to come out of COVID-19 hit,  I believe the economic hit has already happened, because the inflations are here already, the effect of the war between Russia and Ukraine is here already, counties are complaining already.

But I believe the new year poses a new trajectory, nations have been able to sustain economic crisis in last couple of years, so I believe nations will surmount all the  hiccups as against IMF predictions.
1397  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crisis wars and bad situations why they Are good ? on: January 14, 2023, 06:06:01 PM
Crisis, wars or bad situation cannot be good. Because I believe a lot of persons might not come out of certain crisis alive, even if they do, they might have a psychological effect or better still PTSD from it.

Although coming out from a certain bad situation might make you feel stronger, because some persons argument that, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger 💪.

Older individuals tend to be meek or humble, but it's not necessary because they've been through many crisis rather, it's because they are old and worn out and lack the physical stamina to undertake some tasks that they would have otherwise loved to.
1398  Economy / Economics / Re: U.S. Safety Agency Eyes Ban on Gas Stoves As Health Concerns Mount on: January 14, 2023, 05:14:27 PM
Well, if for any reason, there hazardous effects of using cooking gas in our homes then I think there should be a total stop to using gas in cooking.

We can make do with electric cookers, because they have little or no side effect.
1399  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: January 14, 2023, 09:29:27 AM
I think the whole issue of economic downturn is to alert citizens about how their finances will be affected.  however, having a Side job will also improve your cash inflow.

But one major aspect to surviving this period is to reduce your spending,  cut cost on things ordinarily you don't need.  Because prices of goods and services will be inflated, hence the need to spend money on the basic things you need and also make out time to save the little you can.
1400  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia/Ukraine, Who is to blame? on: January 13, 2023, 01:17:44 PM
Well, I personally believe, Ukraine should be blamed. They weren't supposed to go to war, with a big brother like Russia in the first place.

Whatever side Ukraine may have taken in the debate, they would have sought out a solution before things got out of hand. They would have recognized that Russia is their big brother and that, due to their superior arsenals and status as one of the world's superpowers, they are capable of annihilating them in a matter of seconds.

Is just like Mexico, wanting to go to war with USA, we all know the result will be catastrophic for Mexico. Today, no Russian city has been scratched, but I cannot say thesame for Ukraine.
