So the hostile takeover guys were able to cause the price increase and it has never corrected?

The takeover ANN appeared at March 18th, when the TIPS price was at an all time high of 1300 Litoshi and more.
So I think it's more the other way around, the high price for TIPS inspired them/him to try to pull this stunt and despite all this confusion caused by this fake swap announce TIPS never dropped below 450.

1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS) - New Dev team: Fedoracoin Foundation on: April 16, 2016, 11:47:52 AM
Thanks yogg.
Regarding your TIPS at BTER, if you want to be on the safe side and depending on the quantity you could sell them for LTC and buy them back with that LTC in Cryptopia. When I last checked yesterday, TIPS withdrawals were still disabled at BTER and I don't really know where they will be heading with regard to this faked swap. Given Cryptopias prices are slightly lower than BTERs most of the time you might be able to do that without any loss.

From reading through the SHA-256 ANN thread I get the impression that nobody is mining the SHA256 coin anymore since they found out that no exchange runs on the new chain, not even BTER and that coins will probably never have any value.

I have quickly browsed through the SHA-256 source and to me it seems to be a completely independent from original TIPS run-of-the-mill SHA256-POW/POS Hybrid.
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS) - New Dev team: Fedoracoin Foundation on: April 16, 2016, 10:13:29 AM
I don't understand what's going on with TIPS.
Can someone explain it shortly ?

From what I understand, there is a takeover. Allright, but what with the so called "sha256 group" ?
Does the new team plan to change the algo ?
What about BTER ? Was their coin swap arranged with the new TIPS team, or with that sha256 group ?

It's a little shady here ...

Thanks for asking.
At some point a random shady character came out of nowhere and announced a swap of TIPS and a new blockchain based on SHA-256 algo in a new ANN.
This was neither backed by the community who wants to keep TIPS what it is nor by the original dev who disappeared long ago.

At one point that shady character was obviously able to convince BTER that a swap is going to happen to the fake SHA-256 TIPS and BTER disabled TIPS withdrawal but they still operate on the real TIPS blockchain and are probably starting to realize that the swap is never going to happen.

A few of us then gathered behind teillagory to defend the original TIPS which involved also creating this new ANN so that people interested in TIPS have a starting point with all relevant information at hand.

So for the facts:
The real/original Scrypt TIPS is rock solid with 50-80 nodes and a hashrate way above 50GHs in avg.
All exchanges including BTER use this old and correct blockchain, BTER has withdrawals disabled but TIPS can be deposited and traded as always. Additionally there are Cryptopia and Alcurex available for trading TIPS.

The last post of the "swap" dev is from more than 2 weeks ago, saying
we will do the swap soon, thank you for your patient.

The alleged swap would then end on 25th April, but until today no single coin has been swapped AFAIK.
So we can probably assume the swap has been abandoned and it may be only a question of time until BTER allows withdrawals again.

That said, it should be noted that teillagory, testbug, metamorphin and also cryptoid have invested a lot of time and some money to bring back Blockexplorers and website for TIPS and created this new ANN to defend against this scammy swap plan. It is only because of their efforts that TIPS didn't get hijacked by the swap scammer.

TL;DR: Nothing changed, TIPS is what it has been since it began - mine on and enjoy  Wink
1385  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: April 13, 2016, 08:22:57 AM
is Nicehash.com down? I haven't been able to connect to the website for 2-3 hours now.

Yes, it's not just you, it's down since hours and BTC in orders are still draining and hash being delivered.
Though I have no way to either cancel or re-adjust my orders since hours. The site has been down or acting erratically a lot in the last days.
Any statement from nicehash?

1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin peer on: April 11, 2016, 02:27:55 PM
How do i make my daemon alive even when i close my putty terminal?

Either start the coin-daemon with -daemon to make it fork into background or use screen (i.e. see this link for howto http://superuser.com/questions/23911/running-commands-on-putty-without-fear-of-losing-connection)

Does anyone knows a complete list of working nodes in Fedoracoin network?

The nodelist in the OP is quite uptodate and should get you synched quickly.

Just received the following reply on my ticket from Cryptopia:

Hi, We have completely revamped our listing policy and voting process. All coins that wish to be listed must re-apply to be listed on the vote and reviewed under the new policy.

Messaged Cryptopia about adding CSC again. Wink

CasinoCoin is already on their vote list. Only way to vote is to buy DotCoin (current price 13 sat). I bought some and did get CSC to the Top of the voting list. If it stays there, then in 4 days CasinoCoin will be listed! Everyone who are willing to spend small amount btc for CSC to be added Cryptopia, please do buy and vote.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Home/Voting

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=DOT_BTC
What happened to the vote list? CSC was on top and i also had put up some DOT to vote for CSC but now the list only shows Litebar(LTB) while voting was still possible for 3 more days ......

I did spend some btc to get CSC to the TOP. Now it's all gone. On the page it says:
Quote
If you would like to submit a coin to the vote you must raise a support ticket and be able to verify that you are an active dev for the coin.
Ajochems or GoldSeal, if any of You contacts them to relist CSC, mention that we had a lot of votes already that some of us paid for...

As it looks to me this page is just broken, the community voting is missing too and the layout looks as if only first 10% of the page are sent.
Give them some time to fix it, I am pretty sure that the voting page is not intentionally looking like that.
To make sure and speed things possibly up, I created a ticket @cryptopia.

Good job, will throw in some of my hard saved DOTs to keep it on top!

Wallet source please? Virustotal results are scary, even tho most of the time all of these are false positive I rather not take any risks.

Hi,

My wallet is not synchronizing.
I added the nodes you mentioned but nothing...

HERE IS MY CONF:

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=randompassword
rpcport=22888
gen=0
server=1
daemon=1
addnode=157.161.128.55
addnode=162.243.210.240
addnode=5.255.66.44
addnode=121.41.6.161
addnode=87.98.182.171
addnode=195.169.203.83
addnode=75.175.72.22
addnode=83.217.145.16

Any hints please?

At least 6 of the above nodes are online right now, so you should be able to connect and sync quickly.

Please check your debug.log for hints on what could be wrong.

I see you still listed bter, they didn't switch the algo afterall?

No they haven't switched anything yet (as expected). You can still deposit and sell your TIPS there, but you can't withdraw TIPS you buyed on BTER anymore.
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS); New style, new services, same unique features on: March 27, 2016, 08:50:18 PM
Does anyone know which one is more accurate?

According to http://www.fedoracoin.xyz:3001/ and https://chainz.cryptoid.info/tips/,

They both show the same block height 1165220, however, the total number of mined coin is different.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/tips/ shows 416,925  M TIPS
http://www.fedoracoin.xyz:3001/ shows 430,427 M TIPS

There are around 14,427 M TIPS difference, does anyone know which one is more accurate?

Thanks
Logically the latter one should be correct as sometimes, it takes a while to catch up and its impossible to mine coins without auditing them in the blockchain.
So I will always go for the higher one Smiley

so that means only less then 70,000 M TIPS left to mine, and all the Fedoracoin will be in the market start to trade and circulate?

If you got the wallet running, you could open the console and type
getinfo

and look for the key moneysupply.

Unfortunately fedoracoin doesn't give supply with the getinfo rpc method. The reason is that due to the random rewards, the totalsupply can't easily be precalculated unlike with other coins with predictable rewards.

Could you also post draw on the wall and if power supplies are included?
Also would you accept escrow (i.e. by OgNasty)?
Thank you in advance.

I am still interested also.  Can you tell me what shipping would be to the Colorado in the US?  And what is the current interested bid on this miner?  Thanks.

Sold. 6 BTC + shipping with AUD

Sorry to hear, but congratulations.
I was bidding too, but you won it in all fairness and I sincerely wish you will be having a lot of fun (and profits) with this Titan!

Hey Guys,

We are currently compiling and adding TIPS to Cryptopia, its about half way though syncing.

We think its a good idea to add TIPS to help this community combat the hostile takeover on the other thread, this way users who want to keep the old TIPS can use Cryptopia and the ones who want to use/swap the new TIPS can handle that on BTER.

It will take a few more hours to sync, but once its done it will be ready for deposits.

We will now remove it from the vote list since its skipping the vote round so dont panic if you cant find it Smiley

Thanks
Cryptopia Ltd

What a great and noble move of Cryptopia, thank you!

I just tested to deposit into the TIPS wallet at Cryptopia and it works just fine!
(It is however a bit scary to see deposits appear on your balance within minutes - we are really not used to that based on previous experience with bter Grin )

Again thanks to Cryptopia for this generous move, you have helped this community a lot!

We are on 2. exchange Smiley thats rly nice, thx
I will contact cryptsy today for status update on stucked coins.

I didnt receive an answer from bter yet, maybe today

It is important to note though that if you deposit TIPS to bter you will not be able to withdraw them, either dump them for LTC/CNY or get them converted to the SHA256-TIPS which most of us think is scam.

Cryptopia on the other hand, allows to deposit and withdraw your TIPS as well as trading against BTC/LTC/DOT/DOGE/FTC.
Order books in Cryptopia are slowly building up and the price is already higher than in bter where people dump their TIPS at any price to escape the swap to the SHA256-TIPS.

Here is the link for Cryptopia's TIPS/LTC market:
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=TIPS_LTC

Again thanks to all who helped to bring TIPS onto Cryptopia with either their hardearned DOTs or their vocal support!
