1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Bitpay do to avoid the fluctuation risk of exchange rate? on: May 30, 2013, 06:23:02 AM
Do BitPay merchants have the option of holding a portion of their revenue in Bitcoin?

For example, if my website selling golf balls makes 300 BTC a week, can I opt for BitPay to convert half into fiat and I keep the other half in coins?

Yes, this is an option that they have.

1394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats the scoop on litecoin and gox? I saw cryptocoincharts.info lists gox? on: April 18, 2013, 06:51:19 PM
do they know something we don't over at cryptocoincharts.info?   because under litecoin they've added a mtgox graph which as of yet is  nothing.

is litecoin actually going to hit gox?  I thought it was a rumor but now it seems its true. that's going to be crazy, if its true that will be a great day for litecoin.  anybody know when that will be?

anybody have cold hard facts on the situation?  I'd like to know and I'm sure others would like to know too.

I can't see why they wouldn't add it. If they are in the business of making money than they should. Litecoin has proven itself as having value.
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any sense in making so many alternate coins? on: April 18, 2013, 06:49:56 PM
Many will simply cease to exist. The ones that the market deems have purpose will carry on.
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For those who missed it... on: April 17, 2013, 04:52:58 AM
Bitcoin was trading at ~$5 last April (2012)

Litecoin was at $0.005

This year Bitcoin was at ~$150 when Litecoin was at ~$5

Did you blink and miss the boat?

1 Year can make a big difference.  Cheesy

1400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy getting raided by the IRS for not reporting income and capital gains. on: April 05, 2013, 10:16:02 PM
This is something my 'friend' said to me when discussing bitcoins, how do i(you) respond?

It is only a profit if you convert it to your local currency. This is the same theory as if you were to buy a stock share. I on the other hand have to pay taxes on every sale I make with my business. On a personal level you should only have to pay taxes if you cash out. Of course you should pay your taxes although, it is not a big deal as it is only capital gains tax and you only pay on the profit.
