1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Not Nerdy Enough on: July 17, 2023, 02:22:16 PM
However, the average guy on the street that I speak to, and even many people on crypto forums still don't understand Bitcoin's potential as a virtual commodity, or it's potential to create an alternative to Fiat economies.
The users of bitcoin is a niche community, not just based on this forum but from the world and the major population of this is concentrated in certain parts of the world. Not every country is friendly towards bitcoin but we are improving those numbers gradually. When I first visited this forum nobody in my locality knew about bitcoin and price was around 700USD/BTC - today we have banners of many altcoins/shitcoins (still, some improvement eh?) on the road and people have already heard about crypto and the price is above 30k USD/BTC.

Quote
Maybe the problem is deeper than just a lack of understanding about the technology?
We dont need to solve that problem, let them be ignorant. But we will keep increasing our stash eventually they will become poor and we will become rich - how does that sound? Tongue

Quote
Maybe it's a lack of understanding about economics as a whole? How many people are economists?
You think everyone will tell you that they are stashing up bitcoin? Hell no. They will do so in secrecy and only when the time comes will you know what they accumulated is a lions share and you are a teeny tiny ant in front of them. So stop bothering about adoption so much, it will happen with time, focus on your own stash.
1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin leave to be decentralized on: July 17, 2023, 02:16:07 PM
i understand that Bitcoin what kept Bitcoin valuable is because it's a decentralized currency,
Value based on what? You are seeing the price in terms of a fiat currency, for example USD. That does not mean that the value of 1BTC is changing, it remains 1BTC but the price at which the market sells/buys it is what the value is. That could be in fiat or altcoin or any other asset. We dont peg the value of BTC to another asset, but the markets determine the price based on the orderbooks against other currencies.

You are confusing fiat price and characteristics of bitcoin. Being decentralized is a character that bitcoin possesses. Definitely that makes it popular and attractive to the population and raises its demand, but it does not govern the price of bitcoin in fiat.
1383  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbies can't profit from crypto without knowing how to trade. Truth or Myth? on: July 17, 2023, 02:09:26 PM
I overheard my coworkers discussing the idea that new investors in crypto cannot make profits without possessing trading skills. I would like to initiate a discussion on whether this claim is true or false. In my view, this belief is a false notion that is spread by individuals who want to discourage those who are curious about investing in crypto. What is your perspective on this topic?
Knowledge in trading will not be the reason to be able to make money but will cut down some common mistakes that can force you to lose money. Rest of the money making is your own luck, predictions and patience. Newbies in speculative trading will be assumed (and proven) to be lacking this mindset and thus the above notion.

Every trader was once a newbie. So I dont think this statement should discourage new investors, because that is a personal choice of rubbing someone's statements on their own skin.

If a newbie start dummy trading and is keen to learn, they can profit in a few months, but they should have patience and be able to endure long bear markets.
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This time for meme coin? on: July 17, 2023, 02:05:41 PM
You probably know that almost all new meme projects are coming out now. Do you think it is really risky? what effect do you think this could have for the bull market!
The bullish trend is what pushed them to come out, otherwise they would be shy coming in the bear market because then their agenda would not be fullfilled. These coins are created by pure evil minds and stepping into one is like applying an axe on your own feet. The hype is what sells these coins ton naive investors who think the coin is going to go up, it will be that will be capitalized by the owners and not the investors.

Indeed a high risk operation but some people will make money from it the cunning ones. Long term hodlers never get swayed by such events.
1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not compared to Bitcoin with the best anyone on: July 16, 2023, 07:10:33 AM
Altcoins include ethereum, polygon etc. Already heard of dying of altcoins. Many peoples invest in different platforms. Some people hold ethereum polygon bnb etc. But their prices don't rise much.  Are they better to hold and invest than Bitcoin?
This is a personal choice, but observing older price charts and seeing how their basic characters fan out, bitcoin ticks all the boxes that the investors want as compared to any altcoin. But you may find some other coin interesting.

I know some big brothers who invest or hold bitcoins never heard from them that investing in bitcoins is not good.
You can tell them to track their investments vs a virtual investment in bitcoin at the same capital and then see over the next 1-2years which portfolio turns up better than the other. Of course if they dont chicken out of it. Try doing that yourself and you will see the difference. I can say this with confidence because I have been watching the market since some time now.
1386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to grow the bitcoin you have? on: July 15, 2023, 02:12:53 PM
How to grow the bitcoin you have without being involved in gambling or putting it in a custody wallet for APY. Is there any proven low risk method.
No method is risk free or proven to be low risk but traditionally long term holding is a safe method to grow the value of coins as per their fiat price changes if you are selling at higher price than what you buy at.

Previously many casinos had the option to invest in their bankroll, but these options are limited now and hence I dont recommend much of them anymore.

Remember that low risk also means low reward. It ends up being a 5% Fixed deposit like in a bank, though such options are not much in circulation. In yeild farming and staking and all, again the risk is enough to clean up your staked money if the company crashes or rugpulls.

Then you have masternodes, which require a huge investment, check them out if you can.

Many options indeed, but buying more coins at low price and stocking them up is a option that is always available to you.
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it Advisable joining Bitcoin signal group? on: July 14, 2023, 07:01:13 AM
If I declare that a coin toos result will be heads it will be correct 50% of the time. This does not mean that I can see the future but I am just juggling what I already know.

Signals groups make predictions on what they have a gut feeling with or opposite of what they are going to do. One might feel that we all here giving the advice to not join such groups are actually the bad people attempting to drag down our fellow users, in such case please do join and see for yourself.

We speak out of knowledge and experience, but feel free to experiment with your money at your own risk. Or even better try dummy trading on paper based on the signals and track how many are good or bad.
1388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be watchful it's not yet time on: July 14, 2023, 06:56:06 AM
Well from my post I do not practically mean that you can't invest in altcoin, what I am only emphasizing is that we shouldn't feel cool with any altcoin we choose out there for investment because I know too well that not all altcoin would still make it after the run or before the bull run. While making choice we should be very watchful and mindful with the kind of coin we randomly select out there so to avoid mistake.
We are all adults and if we are doing our homework on the coin that we invest in we should not face the problems that newbies face. There are many people who depend on other people's opinions to make their own investments. Such are the ones who are mostly altcoin traders and they end up broke in few years, though not everyone.

I do consider some altcoins to be profitable but this should be traded with caution by only the veteran traders who know how to handle risk.
1389  Economy / Economics / Re: Food Crisis - Improved, Worsen or still the same in your country (No Change)? on: July 14, 2023, 06:49:35 AM
Drastic change! So sad that our country is strugling. Eventhough our country are crops producer still we are importing some goods loke sugar, rice etc. I know that this because of the domino effect of what is happening to the world, but mostly my countrymen are striving everyday just to survive a day.
The countries are suffering but this has been occuring for a long time and only exacerbated these few years. I don't see much that we can do to improve this on our own. We can start our own gardens if the space is available and grow some of the fruits and vegetables if possible.

Maybe growing crops is not possible for every one but can be tried if there are enough free members of the family.

It is also important for us to maximize savings and control spending. We can only wait and watch as much as we can sustain.
1390  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic problem, why is fiat difficult to hold. on: July 13, 2023, 06:32:20 AM
The many needs are the main factor why we cannot keep fiat permanently and intact.  Sometimes we have planned to set aside the money we have and even have a fixed nominal to save every month, but while we still hold cash, it is not stored or used as valuable items, it is likely that little by little it will be used because there is always an unexpected need
The average spending per month is usually fixed for salaried personnel. This needs budgeting and you can perform this in a few years of obsering. Some extra spending can always happen but most of the time you can manage. Fiat is needed at hand because of daily necessities and use unless of course you live in a country where Bitcoin is very easy to transact with.

Valuable items like gold and silver or real estate are long term assets which I always encourage. Bitcoin stash can also be stored for long term. You have to diligently spend your monthly salary in order to be able to buy these assets.
1391  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin or other assets? on: July 13, 2023, 06:17:22 AM
I would buy a simple watch that meets my demands and buy Bitcoin. I think most of the members who visit this forum are also falling this mindset. The other one who buys luxury watches and also buys bitcoin don't visit forums like these and those who buy luxury watches instead of Bitcoin are already broke. Cheesy

There are many ways to waste your money. Luxury comes to appease the soul, but beyond that we should avoid it. To be honest, luxury buyers are few in number and most of them have a collecting habit which does not take into account costs or investments. Hence let them buy watches while we safely invest in Bitcoin for the future.
1392  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take advantage of the price fall. on: July 13, 2023, 06:10:49 AM
there is no longer years than 4 for waiting , meaning if the dumping starts after the bullrun then we will be seeing increase again in the next 3-4 years like what happened for how many times now since bitcoin being introduced .
when the market falls we must take this advantage to buy more or we will be missing another perfect timing to enter market.
The bull run would be a time to dump, if the trader is cunning enough or has had previous experience of market cycles. There are people who might hold during this time even after making an unrealized profit but that should be avoided. I don't think missing an opportunity should be given that grave an importance. It is more likely that the contempt is way more than the actual missed profit. Cycles are running and being able to join them at the proper time is important. Don't join at the wrong stage or hurry into them.

With practice traders will catch more opportunities than what they did previously.
1393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin according to Satoshi is digital money then why call it investment. on: July 12, 2023, 06:24:04 AM
The simple explanation to this is that people trade on Bitcoin vs fiat and thus the price changes due to demand and supply. This is a secondary effect to being a currency and similar markets were already existing with foreign currencies. Because the speculation of prices occurs hence the price changes. This leads to the trading market and a long term holding market. Therefore it has become an investment and a store of value.

Additionally since the currency is deflationary, the store of value concept become attractive to investors.
1394  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading and gambling on: July 12, 2023, 06:18:13 AM
In my opinion trading can be both gambling and not gambling depending on how you are seeing it. Trying to do risks spot trading on altcoins, it becomes a full gamble. With non-spot trading types, you are again fully gambling. The only non-gambling trading is bitcoin on spot market.

But it is natural to be inclined towards risky trading and therefore bitcoin spot trading is the least attractive for newbies. This should be decided by the trader as to how much risk they can handle with knowledge of the rewards

Trading is an EV+ gambling in a broad spectrum definition. Just do it as long as you are comfortable in it.
1395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first experience with gambling? on: July 12, 2023, 06:10:39 AM
The first experience with gambling for me was my realisation that gambling is a loss for the players and a win only for the owners and it's affiliates. Jackpots are not common and people think too much about their high confidence when they actually have none. This does not come to everybody and most people only think that if they play long enough they will win loads of money.

Hence I consider this as a life lesson and not a bad experience. This helps newbies to learn both sides of gambling and not be stuck with only one
1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People with quick rich attitude always mess up with alt coins on: July 11, 2023, 11:27:43 AM
Even worse, they like to replace smart contracts with new ones. Yes. many are trapped with sweet promises by them. Maybe the white paper design is good and detailed and in my opinion it will be a reference and analysis for users or investors who want to enter but if the founder is ignorant, especially when performance drops. Now. what are the words we will definitely spit out..Oops..Rugpull again.
Scams are getting sophisticated but this does not change the basic greed that is the ingredient from the victim in getting scammed. There are people who observe this and this devise their methods and this these get rich quick schemes and altcoins that thrive on hype. All the creators of such coins are essentially scamming their investors and because unregulated nature they are able to get away with it.

Greed should be controlled for any trader to be able to profit.
1397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is it to keep your bitcoin investments secret from others ? on: July 11, 2023, 11:23:35 AM
Not only cyber criminial but people around us that has an ill-intention.  We never know whether people around us will change or not once they knew that we have lots of treasure in digital world.  They maybe good to us but we all know how greed can change people.  There are even cases where a member of the family killing their kin just to get the money by themselves.  So it is really important that we keep vigilant and never expose that we are holding that huge amount of Bitcoin or else we might find ourselves in big trouble.
There is no doubt in this. Revealing your money to others is a grave mistake and every person whom you feel to be trustworthy can all of a sudden turn their morals against you and rob you. The internet is not the place to trust anybody and in real life your own money is at ever more stake. Hence the more you keep people in the dark the safer it is for you and your assets.

The person in front may have good intentions but they can flip any time in future and there is no way to know this if you are trusting them.
1398  Economy / Speculation / Re: This year is dumping ground for bitcoin on: July 11, 2023, 11:18:48 AM
I think there is no disposal for Bitcoin. In the crypto market, there are always sellers and buyers of bitcoin and that is a natural thing. If you look at the condition of the bitcoin market recently, it seems you are wrong to say that there has been a disposal of bitcoins. Where the price of bitcoin is currently increasing again and trading in the range of $30k-$31k.
OP comment was in a time where Bitcoin was low and dumping and hence is no longer relevant. At present bitcoin is recovering from it's downtrend and we are seeing more demand than supply, so we can assume that the bear trend is stopping and a reversal is occurring. Still these are cycles and the comments here should be an indication as to how the common people respond to bear markets.

For now just keep buying and forget about what the OP said. In fact forget about anything that anybody says and only treat the prices as numbers.
1399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoins on: July 10, 2023, 06:03:32 AM
Lost Bitcoins come from wallets with lost private keys, so those coins come off from the available liquid market and cannot be sold till someone gets the private keys. Assuming they sell the coins and if the amount is a significant one, only then the market might drop.

The person who lost the coins will not be happy about it. The rest of the people can be - however that is a very malevolent thing to say, being happy on someone's loss.

Hence we should always know how to keep our coins safe and not leak the keys to any site or person
1400  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade with caution on: July 10, 2023, 05:50:59 AM
This has been discussed many times and yes we should not trade too much especially if you are still now capable to do so. Trading will always require and accurate analysis and you should have this first before you execute your trade, it you are not that confident better no to trade big yet. Learn everything, exert more effort and be more patient, trading also deals with your emotion so make sure to know how to control it as well.
Analysis may not always be accurate but you have to be identify the trend and place your trade according to that trend. Don't assume that what people say about prediction is hard and fast, rarely they come correct and you would better off not listening to those.

A lot of things in trading can be learnt from dummy trading on paper. This should be done my every trader in their beginner days and even in veteran stage. Keeping logs and tracking orders from them is a good habit and gives you a better sense of control over assets.

This takes time to learn and making mistakes on the way is just the process not the end.
