1381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 17, 2023, 04:44:28 PM

Despite being a huge underdog, it's worth taking a risk on the Heat because we know they won't give up easily. They reached the NBA Finals in the bubble, and Butler has been delivering the best playoff performance of his career this offseason. I'm confident he won't be stopped by the Celtics. The Heat are playing with great discipline, and everyone is contributing to their defensive efforts.

So, why not? Let's go Heat!

The Heat has been in this situation before and surely they know what they were lacking in their past games against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals last season they will more likely gonna change their rotations and will gonna do the right thing this time. they are the real torn for the Celtics to get back to the NBA finals once again this year and they really need to work harder to beat this healthy Miami Heat. Since the Lakers have already beaten the GSW my attention is on this one because these teams will not gonna give an easy win to each other, especially in this first game of this series.

Yeah but just because the Heat have been in this situation, doesn’t guarantee any sort of advantage. Celtics have been in this situation before as well, so it works both ways in this regard.

The Boston Celtics are simply a better team overall than the Heat are. Jimmy Butler is an absolute beast, especially during the playoffs, but the team just isn’t deep enough. They have no chance in my opinion.
1382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 17, 2023, 04:41:01 PM
I would absolutely NOT ever give my bank statement out to an online casino, that is absolutely asinine. You’re write up here is a bit confusing as well. I’m assuming you sent money via your bank? This is where bitcoin has become such a big thing for online casinos. I understand there’s still often know your customer rules and verification mandates, but never ever would I do so by using a bank statement.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Things that still make feel awkward with some online casinos on: May 17, 2023, 04:35:36 PM
Why are some online gambling platforms having high withdrawal fee? I know Bitcoin recently has a high transaction fee but that's no more right now, some online casinos are still asking for 5$ per transaction when it should be 1$ or less.

Not just only Bitcoin withdrawal, even coins with very low transaction fee, isn't this robbery? If you just signed up on a centralized exchange, you can pretend as if you want to withdraw, to know how much the gas fee costs, but on online casino, you will see this only after you have enough wins or funds for withdrawal.

Yeah this drives me nuts when online casinos have ridiculously high withdraw fees. I think it’s simply a way for them to make money, which doesn’t seem like much, but over time and over the course of all those transactions it’s adding up.

Regardless, it’s still better than the way it used to be where bitcoin wasn’t available and cashing out meant receiving a shady check from some offshore nation.

1386  Economy / Economics / Re: Retirement Age for Workers - Does this Make Sense? on: May 16, 2023, 12:49:12 AM
Quote
France's Constitutional Council on Friday approved an unpopular plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64, in a victory for President Emmanuel Macron after three months of mass protests over the legislation that have damaged his leadership.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/france-retirement-age-raise-64-approved-constitutional-council/

This so-called measure has several benefits and drawbacks. The elder employees can benefit from their years of experience if they are retained on the job for longer, which is one advantage. The drawback of this is that many workplaces will report low performance because there is an inverse relationship between a person's success at work and their deterioration in cognitive and physical capacities.

Regardless, what I think is that the government shouldn't shove it down the throat of people. Workers who are approaching retirement age should be given a choice after appraisal to keep working or retire.

What sense does this make? Would you agree or disagree?

I think this all depends on how other money is spent in France by the government, that force them to make this change of moving the retirement date back. This is the reason I stress to my clients that they should be saving as if social security (our version of France’s retirement package you speak of here) isn’t going to exist when it comes to time for them to retire. Never count on the government to do it all for you. Plan as if they won’t, and if they do provide retirement of some sort when it comes to your time ..then it’ll be icing on the cake and a much more comfortable retirement.
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the fate of BTC payment now on: May 16, 2023, 12:45:20 AM
This is really unfortunate to hear, but I do appreciate that you were accepting bitcoin payments up until now.  I personally believe that things will get better with time, and I do still have a lot of hope that lightning network will soon be much more efficient, easy to use and a big breakthrough for bitcoin payments.

Let’s just hope they come sooner than later.
1388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: May 15, 2023, 11:21:30 PM
@ChiBitCTy. Agreed. I reckon the Bears would have made a better record in the standings if the playbook gave Justin Fields more running opportunities near the beginning of 2022 season heheeh. Also hehehe, didn't the Bears have Trey Lance as their first choice in the 2020 draft but picked Justin Fields because San Francisco drafted Lance first?

In any case, the schedule for 2023 season has been released! Regular season begins on September 11.

https://www.nfl.com/schedules/2023/reg1/

I don’t think that it was ever revealed who the Bears preferred taking in the 2020 daft. They wouldn’t have come out and said that they wanted Trey over Fields after the fact, as that would be a pretty bad way to start out their relationship with each other. Just not something ownerships/management tend to do.

Just hoping it turns out better than the draft where they chose Mitchell Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson lol
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: May 15, 2023, 11:17:12 PM
I’ve never been huge in to chess but I certainly appreciate the game. I remember my young cousin teaching me how to play on a family reunion at least 15 years ago or so. It was a lot of fun but he kicked my ass. I’ve played slightly here and there & enjoy watching it from time to time. Magnus of course has been a big reason for watching…is anyone able to explain the cheating scandal Magnus was calling out with that one player recently in laments terms ?

What on gods green earth is wrong with Ja Morant?! I mean I get being young a dumb, I was once there, but I was never this stupid. After all he went through, and he’s back to holding guns up on Instagram Live, man..he doesn’t seem to be the brightest.

I follow this account on instagram that makes cool custom sports cards. Here’s what he shared today lol. If you’ve seen  “ Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood”, this will make sense. If not, highly recommend watching this movie.

1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some needed features of an online casino. on: May 15, 2023, 04:00:16 PM
I agree with you that these additional features would be really nice additions to any online gambling website. I think what is most needed is a more secure way of identifying one’s self or “KYC”.

I like the other ideas too. Being able to set time limits would be a nice thing, but I’m not sure casinos would be too keen on this being that they won’t you to lose money.
1392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 14, 2023, 06:29:14 PM
I absolutely love seeing Steph Curry lose, especially at this point in time where you can tell the whole teams needs blown up.  Steve Kurr came out and said that this team was not a championship team, which was evident from earl on in the season.  Curry is still a super star, but Klay and Draymond seem to have fallen off a cliff in a big way.

I was pulling for the Lakers, and can't wait to see this next matchup versus the Nuggets, though I was really hoping to see a Lebron vs Durant showdown.
1393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 13, 2023, 12:02:47 AM
I can’t wait for this Lakers Warriors game tonight. I’m pulling for the Lakers because I can’t stand Curry, but I’m worried if that Lakers can’t pull it off tonight, they won’t be able to win game 7 at Golden State.  Thankfully Anthony Davis is playing tonight.

I hope Wiggins suits up as well. I don’t want either team to have an excuse for not winning.

Will be placing a bet on LA at -3.5
1394  Economy / Collectibles / Re: please use TalkImg - imgur deletes all images on: May 12, 2023, 11:57:35 PM
Imgur has been shit for a long time now. It was once a great program/website but then they started getting cheap and taking away basic features like BB code for forums, removing the mobile version which had more stuff than the app etc. I also had issues with uploads and other little things.

I use https://imgbb.com/ . It doesn’t save images but it’s a nice easy way for forum uploads.
1395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of war on bitcoin on: May 11, 2023, 11:14:08 PM
Different countries issues is the reason why bitcoin is suffering price loss, when countries are not at peace with others, the whole nations suffered economic crisis, I remember when the price of bitcoin start going down was same season Russian x Ukraine start economy wars. Bitcoin seem to remained statics because of sentiments by this countries attitude towards the resourceful digital products that would have swim financial hardship.

Yeah there is no question that the war in Ukraine is a big part of all of the economic turmoil across the glob right now.  Once this war became about, almost immediately there was economic suppression and some seriously messed up economic aspects of our every day lives such as inflation and interest rate issues.

War is sickening, and there's always a way for peace. Imagine what our economies would look like if we didn't spend so god damn much money on war.

Bitcoin is just one victim amongst many.
1396  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you consider moving abroad? on: May 11, 2023, 11:11:14 PM
Moving abroad is the best option, in my country almost all workers wanted to go abroad because they wanted to earn big income for the future but it is not easy because there are so many test that we need to pass before we can go in to different country, it is also risky to go apart from your comfort zone, i also here so many news with regards to abuse of some ofw some are killed being burn body store in a freezer. Etc,., So i consider going abroad is only for the brave.

This is really unfortunate and I feel bad for those whom live in a country where it's just so hard to get a decent paying job no matter how smart one is or how much education they have under their belt.  The thing that's really disgusting though is when people are desperate to leave a country for a better life, there's always going to be people to take advantage, like you mention with people being killed.  This is of course how a lot of sex trafficking happens.  So sad, so sickening.
1397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend's investment in Bitcoin on: May 11, 2023, 11:07:51 PM
One of my close friends his name is Naher. He came to visit my house. Once while discussing with him, I mentioned the name of bitcoin. He wanted to know what bitcoin is? I was telling him that bitcoin is a digital cryptocurrency coin launched in 2009 by a man named satoshi. I tell him Bitcoin has been around for 14 years. I give him more idea about Bitcoin. At one point he expressed his interest in investing in bitcoin, I told him that there is a possibility of not only profit but also loss from investment. To invest you have to take risk. My friend invests in bitcoin knowing profit loss. He works for a salary of about $400 per month. He invested about $500 in Bitcoins. I didn't show my friend interest in investing in bitcoin. He himself knowingly invested in bitcoin.
Did I give my friend the right advice?

Yes, but ultimately he needs to sit down and do his homework himself.  One of the absolute biggest mistakes I see people making is investing in things they have little to no knowledge of and without much homework or research time put in.  This is pretty freaking stupid, and yet I see it all the time.

If he only makes 400 a month, I think he needs to rethink this decision.
1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: May 11, 2023, 11:05:28 PM
As some have said, and I will echo, gambling can absolutely be a business..but it's not a business for 99% of the people on this planet, and it's also a business that is HIGHLY volatile, so if you are to be a professional gambler (and there are many), then you've got to be able to ride the waves.

That guy from Chicago who was a recent Jeopardy champion is a professional gambler.  He's got an interesting take on how it is to be a pro gambler.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uzSkEjO7TA
1399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 11, 2023, 11:02:14 PM

Golden State Warriors(-225) VS Los Angeles Lakers(+180) - WIN

In game 5 the Warriors won this game and right now the Lakers are still in the lead with 3 - 2 aswell, well like I have said if Game 6 the Warriors win this game 7 will likely become a Stephen Curry showcase of performance just like in the Sacramento Kings game, if the Los Angeles manage to win this over the Warriors then Lakers will advance to the next match up then likely almost half of the Warriors rosters will be traded for some players that may be a benefit to Stephen Curry's performance,

The Warriors really need to improve their performance on the road; if they continue to play the same way, they won't be able to win game 6, and the series will be over. Klay Thompson's shots have not been working for the past three games, so if the Warriors can find a way to activate 'Game 6 Klay,' there's a higher likelihood that we will see a game 7.

The Lakers are only favored by -2.5 points in the next game, so if it's a close game, the Warriors +2.5 will likely be the winning bet.

Unfortunately, looking at the past two road games, the Warriors have not covered the spread yet, making it difficult to decide at this moment. The best thing to do is to follow your instincts and have fun.

But for sure Warriors fans will take that handicap or maybe taking the ML,

Warriors still have that shot to force this series into a do-or-die game, with their experienced its
still doable for them to work together and try winning this game in LA and go back home then snatch
conference's final appearance.

With Green and Wiggins activated their winning attitude, then add the splash bros, game 6 will be
another test for both teams as Lakers for sure will do everything to take this in front of their home fans.

I think it's all gonna hinge on whether or not Anthony Davis can play.  If he can't Warriors got a good shot if so they will need to pull out all the tricks.  Warriors stink on the road and lebron in from of his home fans is probably gonna put one up for the ages.  Either way excited to see the game.

Yeah I'm excited as well. This is easily my favorite series going on, and so far in the playoffs.  If Anthony Davis can't make it, then I think the Lakers will have a tough go of it.  I'm not saying I don't think Lebron can pull it off, but I dunno...Curry is still so good and even though Draymond and Klay aren't the same players they once were, they can still play as well as few other key pieces, I just think they might be too much for LA.

Hopefully Davis plays, I want to see who the real winner is.
1400  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 10, 2023, 10:53:06 PM
Money should make you happy but if it doesn't then you are probably spending it the wrong way. See the eight suggested principles to help anyone to be able to get happiness from their money.
  • buy more experiences and fewer material goods
  • use your money to benefit others rather than yourself
  • buy many small pleasures rather than fewer large ones
  • eschew extended warranties and other forms of overpriced insurance
  • delay consumption
  • consider how peripheral features of your purchases may affect your day-to-day life
  • beware of comparison shopping
  • pay close attention to the happiness of others

These suggestions are not mine but are from the scientific findings of EW Dunn et al. They are valid suggestions which even without reading have been practicing.  What are you take on these suggestions? Do you have more to add to what the researchers have discovered about this?

Money DOES NOT buy happiness.  Many very rich people in this world are completely miserable.  Money can certainly help buy happiness, and obviously being financially stable helps make you a happier person by not being in need of next months rent check in a big way each month...but it doesn't guarantee happiness by any means.

I agree with some of these main points, but not all.
