1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][COYE] Coinye Coin - UPDATE on: January 14, 2014, 05:05:02 PM
Honestly...

I think the best thing to happen to this coin is that it has a new set of devs behind it. Things started to fall through with this coin. All it needs is a dev team that cares and it's golden.

Mr West Lawyer I presume you are reading this thread or clicking links.
You can have my 2 million COYE coins.
This is my bitcoin address
1Bm8LHqtTUmp4AGprmC3KKxHzARzBXFWmw

Please send 1000 BTC and I will happy to send you my 2 million COYE to your address and I promise you that I will buy all albums made by your client.

If you reply with your email  I will include a renamed cgminer software called gold_digger.exe.
I am serious about the trade but you can skip the email part if you like.

Oh btw you send first.

I'll sell you 10,000,000 COYE, Mr. Lawyers, for the bargain bottom price of 100 BTC. Deal or no deal? It beats the offer I just quoted! Smiley
1385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't lowball your coins until they aren't profitable to mine. on: January 14, 2014, 01:55:43 AM
I'm sitting on 10M+ that I've been mining for my 3rd day now with about 23MHash/s. Hell no I ain't selling into anyone's lowball offer. I'm not even looking to sell these yet until I see something that makes it worth the time and resources I risked allocating my whole rig to it in light of the C&D letter and slight controversy of its launch.

What happened to http://coye.dedicatedpool.com/? Why the pool is not working for more than 2 hours?

I'm not sure, it was definitely down for like 10 minutes for my miners but it's back online and there's like half the pool gone so I'm getting major coinage per block right now. Get back in dude!

Also I checked my wallet address and everything is the same so nothing was haxxored.

all speculation

if bitcoin and litecoin are the only "real" deal then all the coins in the exchanges must be a dumb move...

hold your coins fools

Not necessarily true.

If you don't feel bad playing a zero sum game leaving someone else holding the bag, altcoins might be for you. You might get the bag though, and nobody will care when you do  Wink

When you speculate you are also speculating that you can speculate better than others.

Also, if you are leaving someone else holding the bag and they want that bag for reasons other than speculation, everybody wins! So there is a way for both parties to be happy with altcoins.

While I'm waiting for news to come out on Coinye I'm constantly checking Twitter for latest tweets including the word "Coinye". It's getting increasingly popular by the day guys. People who don't even know about Cryptocurrencies think it's hilarious! I think the hype is real.

So it takes 50 years for the rest of us to mine ours, yet you will have yours immediately. No thanks.

Exactly my thoughts too.

The devs of Coinye Coin are putting out a bounty for someone who can come up with a COYE Twitter tip bot.

Proof: http://www.reddit.com/r/coinyewest/comments/1v0cci/saturday_night_updates_on_coinye/cenm82y

I know the Tippercoin (http://www.tippercoin.com/#/) for Bitcoin is open source. Maybe someone with the skill can implement something similar for COYE?

I got a couple of PM's on this list and have added a couple of suggestions I thought worthy.

First, let me preface this by saying i'm a big supporter of this coin, primarily due to the media attention and the apparent marketing strategy to roll this out to the general public. I think this has been a fantastic approach thus far. But since yesterday things are feeling rushed and (in my opinion) some pretty big mistakes are being made. Below are some points i'd like to make (and will try sending to the devs directly). This comes from 10+ years of web/online product development:

1. Remove BUY COINYE (and alter)
Selling at an arbitrary price puts a real bad taste in people's mouth, especially before a market has been established. Right now there is 0Day, and the coins are moving right around 1/5th what you're trying to sell them at.

I don't think there's any issue with you selling them, but it NEEDS to be at a fair market price, not what you hope they are worth.

Remove it now, roll it back out again when there's a healthy market. Then sell them at going market prices. This would allow people to either mine or invest, their choice.

2. Pick a single website
Right now things are getting split up between http://coinyeco.in/ and http://coinyecoin.org/ ... getting confusing and will hurt the newbies in finding the correct starting point and knowing which is the "official" site.

One problem already is that this site: http://coinyecoin.org/ does not have the same wallet as this site: http://coinyeco.in/

p.s. find a way to have people download from the official site, again it's about perception and mega will throw newbies off as to WTF am i downloading from this site.

3. Explain Cryptocurrencies
The final site definitely needs a "What is Cryptocurrency, What are Wallets, Etc." section. You need to assume that people only know that Bitcoins exist and have a vague idea of what they are. Explain how you can buy/mine them, hold them on their computers, etc. and how they can use them.

You can also take this opportunity to show that cryptos have legit fiat value. Point them to the major exchanges where they can see BTC vs. US/Euro, etc.

There are many sites where this information could be copy & pasted from, but they need to reside on the COINYE site, not just as links.

4. Better Explain Downloads/Using Wallets & Miners
Right now the wallet resides here: http://coinyecoin.org/ and has a link to a pastebin page for nodes. This is too "insider" and only people who mine would get/trust this. Again make a page explaining what the wallet is, why they need/want it (this is where you'll store your "investment"). explain receiving/sending via addresses, etc.

Adding nodes needs a step-by-step guide on the site (with screenshots) explaining the whole coinyecoin.conf process, what it does, etc. Otherwise a lot of people would get scared randomly putting random IP addresses into a file on their machines.

5. Buying Bitcoins
Listing http://localbitcoins.com/ to me is a bit too insider to have this as the only option. Compared to the process of something like Coinbase it's bit daunting. Especially when part of it refers people to potentially buying "face-to-face" can be perceived as an illicit transaction/seedy.

Make a page on "How to buy Bitcoins", include the major/trusted exchanges with a brief description of the different processes and give users choice.

6. Explain false positives in the wallet software regarding some anti-virus/malware
Again, if the target audience isn't people like me in this forum, you need to hold their hands and explain that certain anti-virus will flag this as malware and tell them what is happening and why.

7. Focus on minor markets before Cryptsy
Unless you have a legit dialogue going with Cryptsy, some have said getting on CoinedUP and/or CoinEX type sites helps accelerate a Cryptsy listing.

Overall, great job promoting I hope some of these suggestions get noticed and the coin continues to grow.

Keep PM'ing if you'd like me to keep a running list to send (bug) the devs with.

Good stuff. Sent a little COYE your way

1396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: does anyone else really dislike this f*****g stuipid Coinye on: January 12, 2014, 04:07:29 AM
Coinye's value will be driven by the fact that it is the first "rebel" coin that has a real connection with an incredibly popular celebrity who took legal action to fight what we all know is an unfightable war. It doesn't matter how much effort Kanye's legal team puts it to take down exchanges (if they even would?), there will always be an exchange that pops up and hosts COYE. It's just an undeniable truth, and the harder it is to trade COYE the more valuable it becomes because people will always want the coin that the most egotistical celebrity on the face of the Earth tried to stop.

Bitcoin was the true financial cryptocurrency rebel, but Coinye is the rebel against uberwealthy celebrities that have no idea about underpinnings of the complex decentralized cypherpunk world we live in today.

Yeah, cheers to anyone who is able to nab some COYE for 12 satoshis or below!
1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Coinyeeeee Buy/Sell Thread on: January 12, 2014, 03:49:07 AM
10 satoshis per COYE is RI.DIC.U.LOUS.LY. cheap. Why would anyone in their right mind sell below this?

This CoinyeCoin needs to be integrated into a TipperBot for Twitter so the masses that are totally clueless about cryptocurrencies but intrigued by CoinyeCoin can receive them from us miners and begin their journey into cryptoland.
So many people on Twitter are excited by it and want to know more.

Not if their goal is to buy a lot at 1 satoshi, then pump, then dump at 10 satoshi.

I think we are on to him
