13801  Other / Off-topic / Re: Favorite Bitcoin exchange? on: May 22, 2019, 03:18:07 AM
Wex.nz (formerly BTC-e) used to be my favorite exchange, until they closed down a few months back. Cryptopia was also one of my favorites, but they decided to close down their operations this month. A lot of the users have recommended Binance, but I am not a big fan of that exchange and I don't have an account with them. Right now for trading purposes, I am mostly using Livecoin and Bittrex. They have been around for a while, and the UI is quite comfortable for me.
13802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need so many cryptocurrency exchanges? on: May 21, 2019, 03:57:02 AM
It's a free market economy. Every one is allowed entry but as a potential user/customer you need to be sure the exchange you use is reputable enough to warrant your patronage. Do your own research always. The market is saturated with a lot of fake exchanges with fake volume too. Most of them are out to scam unsuspecting users.

So far this year, reputed exchanges such as Cryptopia and QuadrigaCX have closed down, leaving their users high and dry. All of them closed down abruptly, before the users could withdraw any of their coins (in case of Cryptopia, it was possible to withdraw some BTC before they closed down). These are not new exchanges. These ones were operating for many years and had hundreds of thousands of users. If these exchanges are closing down, then how can you trust the newer, smaller exchanges?
13803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange Hacked - Thief Caught? on: May 21, 2019, 03:52:58 AM
Even if the hackers are caught, the victims may need to wait for a few years to see any of their hard earned coins again. Look at what happened to Mt Gox. Out of the BTC850,000 that was stolen, around BTC200,000 was recovered. But rather than refunding this amount to the exchange users, the bankruptcy authorities used it to fund the legal process and then converted a large part of this stash to fiat at very low prices. But this process has been going on for 5 years and it may take another 2-4 years before the users get any sort of a refund.
13804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee has gone up by 10x during the last two weeks on: May 21, 2019, 03:39:34 AM
I have also noticed this significant increases of fees but i think this is normal as the commodities, utility bills and inflation rates are increasing so i guess the exchanges services fees too but maybe if the Crypto market will become healthy again then maybe we could expect the transaction fees to decline again.

If the crypto-market become healthy, then we can expect the transaction fee to go up. Because the number of transactions will increase in such a scenario, and for instant confirmation you may need to pay a significant premium. And this is one of the ironies with Bitcoin. A rise in adoption and acceptability may result in higher transaction fee, and this in turn can give ammunition for some altcoins such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ETH) in their battle against Bitcoin.
13805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What importance is kyc In gambling section on: May 21, 2019, 03:33:47 AM
It depends on the individual gambler of course. For you it's probably okay but some aren't at ease with providing their information. Some people find it more secure when they play anonymously. The sites where you put in your information can be hacked and kyc info can be compromised. That's what crypto casinos are trying to solve but kyc verification removes anonymity and makes some people feel vulnerable.

One of the reason why we spend money on these online casinos rather than using the real life casinos is that there is added anonymity. And in case this anonymity is destroyed, then people may visit these sites less often. I can understand in case they ask for KYC if the user wins a very big reward. But to make KYC compulsory for all the users, regardless of their deposit amounts is a retrograde move. Or are they going to suspect anyone who gambles away $10 for money laundering?
13806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 21, 2019, 03:18:42 AM
Yes, Contracts are based on grades. but I was talking about over all fame-financial thingy, like fast bowlers put lots of efforts and they don't get much reward as compared to batsmen. considering the fact that Fast bowler career is very short.

Fast-bowling may be energy consuming. But then, nowadays most of the fast bowlers have a very short run-up. Gone are the days when bowlers such as Shoiab Akhtar and Brett Lee used to charge in from 50 yards. Now most of the bowlers have run-up length of anywhere from 15 to 25 yards... look at pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, and it is obvious. Also, the pay grades should be in sync with the revenues they bring. If I am not wrong, the batsmen have more fans (in general) when compared to the bowlers.
13807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty that paid you some good reward on: May 19, 2019, 05:17:32 AM
When I first joined this forum (in 2014), most of the campaigns used to pay good amounts. It was easy for a Senior Member to earn $400 per month. But things have changed now. Signature campaigns which make the payment in BTC are few and far between and the payouts are very low. In case you go for the bounty signature campaigns that pays in alts, there is a good chance that you may not get any reward despite following all the terms and conditions. Many of them never distributes the rewards and even if the rewards are distributed, there is a good chance that you may not find exchanges to convert your tokens to ETH or BTC.
13808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What project did you get your first bounty payment from?? on: May 19, 2019, 04:48:35 AM
I registered way back in 2014, and for about 3 years (2014-2017), I was part of the Yobit signature campaign. Initially, their payment rates were good. But as time progressed, the payments became more erratic. I received my last payment in 2017 and even now have pending dues from them. After that I took part in 2-3 bounties and my current signature campaign may be my 4th in five years.
13809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON to soon displace ETHEREUM? on: May 19, 2019, 04:43:46 AM
I can't hold back my laughter. Comparing TRX with ETH is like comparing the military of Somalia with that of Russia. TRX will never overtake ETH and even the TRX promoters know this fact. For people like Justin Sun, TRX is just a medium to get himself rich. Let him first settle his issues with Lucien Chen and the other developers, who were thrown out of the TRON project.
13810  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Do people have to pay taxes on Bitcoin? on: May 19, 2019, 04:39:15 AM
If state bodies see that the population is evading tax payment, it can take a series of measures aimed at restricting or even banning circulation of cryptocurrency on the territory of this state. We do not need it.

And how they are going to do that? Are they going to shut down the entire internet? Banning cryptocurrency is next to impossible and that is why none of the developed nations have done that. Even the Chinese government is aware of this fact and they have only banned the conversion of CNY to crypto and vice versa. At the most they can arrest a few users and try to frighten the remainder from using it.
13811  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: NEED HELP BADLY! FEDS SIZED 50K CASH and 1BTC FROM HOME WITH SEARCH WARRANT. NY on: May 19, 2019, 04:32:56 AM
This has happened to a few users here, such as BurtW.

The thread from theymos can be seen here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934268.0

But in his case, he was not involved in any illegal activity, and in the end the charges were dropped. But even then he had to undergo a lot of hardship and harassment. In your case I don't know whether you are hiding any important facts or not. You are not an old member of this forum and created this account after you were arrested.
13812  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$ on: May 19, 2019, 04:28:33 AM
If bitcoin hit a one million dollar i think most of members in here will be a millionaire for sure. Others top ten coins would be huge also. Lambo ia coming..

Nope.. this forum has millions of members and only a small fraction of them have BTC1 in their wallets. I guess most of the users who registered after 2014 may be having less than 1 BTC, unless they had purchased Bitcoins at that time for investment purposes. But as I can see, the vast majority of the users get their coins from bounty campaigns and signatures, and few have actually invested their fiat savings in to BTC.
13813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: May 19, 2019, 04:25:57 AM
That why peoples need to educate them self first before putting their life saving in the line. When they got scam who will be blame. Better to learn first before invest.

Well... you are right. If we take some very basic precautions, then more than 99% of the hacking attempts can be prevented. These steps are very simple and easy to implement. One such measure is the activation of 2FA for your wallet. Nowadays, it is beyond retarded not to have 2FA to protect your wallet. This step alone can prevent 90% of the hacking attempts.
13814  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin has reached 8000$, then what? on: May 19, 2019, 04:23:43 AM
I just checked the Bitstamp prices and we are at $7932.08 per coin. This is nothing short of miraculous. The correction has been wiped out in less than 48 hours. Either the supply has been trimmed, or the demand has increased tremendously. The trends indicate that the bull rally will resume shortly and we may witness the 10K level very soon (probably by next month, if not earlier).
13815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pakistan tour of England, 2019 (Cricket Series) on: May 19, 2019, 04:20:21 AM
Even though Pakistan played well in all the matches but still they are unable to win a single match till now. Scoring more than 300 plus runs and still not finish the match put some concerns on their bowling and fielding department. I am hoping that Pakistan will win the last match and avoid the clean sweep for England team. Undecided

Pakistan used to rank among the top 3 teams, until 10-15 years back. But ever since they stopped playing their home matches in Pakistan, their standards have gone down. Another factor to remember is the IPL. Almost all the big players in the world derive majority of their revenue from the IPL, and this option is not available for the Pakistani players. And the refusal by India to take part in the bilateral series against Pakistan means that the PCB is also running out of funds. This may be the reason why promising players such as Fawad Ahmed and Imran Tahir decided to cancel their Pakistani passports.
13816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 19, 2019, 04:16:31 AM
Well South Africa won having one ball in hand. I think the women cricket is not that much entertaining. These days people like to see high scoring matches and if you see the women cricket then you will see they don't score much.

For example this match. The target was only 128 runs or so. But South Africa team had hard time to chase it.

Well, being a woman I hardly ever watch these women's matches. They are not as exciting as the men's matches. There are no big hitters like Kohli or Warner and the pace bowlers don't have the speeds that Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins possess. Even the spin bowling is without variety. I have watched a few matches (long back), but never found it entertaining enough.
13817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 19, 2019, 04:11:52 AM
The weather in the United Kingdom is almost same in any corner. I am having this feeling that if this rain interrupts in the world cup matches too. We do not want to see a world cup where matches are having this kind of fate.

I hope it does not happen.

Rainfall is quite high to the western (Ireland) and northern (Scotland) parts of the British Isles, and that's why they have rain almost every day there. Things should be better in England and Wales. I checked the forecast for last week of May and June, and everything seems to be fine. The matches may not get abandoned, but at least during the initial phase you might see a reduction in the number of overs.
13818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ww3 soon? China vs America? (I hope not) on: May 18, 2019, 08:51:34 AM
The United States is currently headed by Donald Trump, who is very aggressive and right wing. China's president (Xi Jinping) is also a very aggressive man and he has taken quite a few hawkish steps regarding defense (South China sea dispute, North Korea.etc), trade and religion (crackdown on Muslims and Christians). Hopefully things will calm down once some Democrat wins the POTUS elections next year.
13819  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is Climbing Up. on: May 18, 2019, 08:39:20 AM
Right now Bitcoin is climbing up so fast, In the CMC Bitcoins' price is $7,875.26. Its a great news, Do you think it will be the same as what happened on 2017 ? What are your thoughts about it ?
Now the price has go down from around 8300 yesterday to around 7300-7400 right now. A correction has just began and I believe that this will take weeks before a major movement will occur, either going down or going up. Many are believing that the bull run has started including me. Lets just wait for the price of Bitcoin to rise.

The profit booking phase is ongoing right now and after that we require a few weeks for stabilization. Hopefully Bitcoin will move towards the 5 digit mark after that (probably by next month). The momentum can get disrupted in case we get negative news of any kind. Cryptopia closed down a few days back, and surprisingly it didn't had any impact on the prices. But the same can't be said about some of the bigger exchanges.
13820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee has gone up by 10x during the last two weeks on: May 18, 2019, 08:36:24 AM
This has happened again in 2017 when the prices of Bitcoin is slowly rising up to 20,000 so I didn't surprised that this happens again Smiley.

I think the best thing to prevent this huge transaction fees is to convert your Bitcoin into other coins and then send it. Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and XRP have lower transaction fees so its better to convert it before sending. This will minimize your fees and it is faster.

I don't think that converting to other coins and sending them is economical. First you need to convert your BTC to Bitcoin Cash, and then again BCH to Bitcoin. The exchange fee will be involved and the exchange rates can be quite volatile. I would rather pay the high fees, rather than taking the risk of converting to other coins.
