It depends on service.  I rent one of my machines on a website that has a interface that let's users pick pool and relay's it to machine.

The other thing I do i rent some machines of Mr. Lee.  You are given a IP for dragon or a2, depending on rental (currently out of a2's).  With this IP it gives you the interface of the machine just like it was on your network.  You log into a IP with credential's given and set up miner as if it was on your network. Currently 2 Dragon's in stock.  Will be monitoring form if you want to rent!

Happy Mining!
13863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: “BadUSB” exploit - How would you protect your bitcoins on backup memory sticks? on: August 03, 2014, 04:25:01 PM
As far as "BadUSB" there is nothing new about usb drives being able to carry something "bad".  NEVER NEVER let someone stick their thumb drive as a general rule in a computer with information you are worried about.

If you have information on your pc don't use plain text use some kind of encryption to protect it.
13864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worth mining? on: August 03, 2014, 04:18:53 PM
If you're in CA there's always a lot of opportunity to start a business and just accept BTC as the preferred payment method but you would need to keep a tight ledger to pay taxes.  Mining is pretty much dead except for free electricity people.

Everyone should do their own ROI.  I am lucky to have space and cheap electricity so mining is very much alive for me on Asics.  Granted I did stop GPU mining as heat and electricity was making my profit to slim, and was better off selling my cards.

I'm sure for someone in big cities this is much different then me, but depending on your situation mining is very much alive.
13865  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Broken module 1T25 for Dragon Miner 1TH/s on: August 03, 2014, 04:12:05 PM
I bought it on ebay without warranty...

If you just bought it might ask seller on Ebay if any chance of discount.  Slim but worth a shot.

Well the if the chip's are truly effected.  Chances of being able to fix it as a individual are slip.  I'm sure there are some that are guru's of it and have tools and can do it, but most likely very few can fix.

I do know a seller with a good relationship with LKETC if your interested i can ask if he's able to get module and price.  PM me your general location (state/country) so I can get a idea on shipping with it.

But your best bet as far as getting good board is to sell that one on forum there is a selling forum on here, and buy anther board.  Depending on how machine is working with that board will depend on what is best.  If it's working with some of chips on board you might be best to run with a few chips down, if whole board is not working then replacing it would make sense.

I welcome others opinions here if they see/think of a way to fix board.   Please speak up and help poster.

*My standard warning with not seeing board running a board with issues i take no responsibility if problems/damage as I cannot say without seeing what can happen
13866  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Beginner miner, College, build vs buy? on: August 03, 2014, 06:32:16 AM
hey forum!

I'm heading to college within the next month and was hoping to work. The college is located in a very small town where it's literally impossible to find work for weekends/afterschool. I've been keeping up to date with the bitcoin scene and I was thinking about building/buying a rig. Because electricity is included in the dorms I'm able to buy a rig with a high power input. I have around $1000 (+-$500) to either build a rig or buy one on craigslist/ebay. Does anybody have a setup in the budget that would make it worth mining for the next 8 months.

I have two weeks to figure this stuff out before I move, as for now i'm still searching on youtube for videos on self built rigs for $1k-$1.5k.

usually close by my computer for a reply, thanks in advance!
Keep in mind when you say "high power" you still have power limit's.  It will be wired for normal use, don't expect to have thousands of watt's or anything or you will be flipping breakers.

Also keep in mind sound/heat.   Depending on dorm room configuration it could get really annoying during studying.  But your best bet is S3's in there most likely as far as a miner with decent power with not to much heat.
13867  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Broken module 1T25 for Dragon Miner 1TH/s on: August 03, 2014, 06:22:21 AM
Hi,

Unfortunatelly, one of the four module from my Dragon Miner 1Th/s is broken. I believe that three A1 chips are burned.
Can I fix it somehow? For example, is there a software solution to disable that tree chips (the broken module is shown in web statistics but it says that it hashes with 1.6Th/s ....)

Maybe some of you can fix it and would like to buy such broken blade? What should I do with this? Have you got any idea?

Depending on how long ago you bought it you might contact seller if they have good relationship with lketc they might be able to get a replacement if in warranty still.

Just got email from some of Mr. Lees team they are moving some of the miners, they said they are working on getting them online ASAP.

Any downtime is apologized for all customer's are valued.  Will let you know if I hear anything else.  I don't have a timeline but told they are working on it ASAP.

3 Dragon 1T's in currently in stock at time of posting.  Currently out of A2's.

These are some of the lowest prices during rental's ever btc's current price made prices that were past to customer's!

As always Happy Mining!
13870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worth mining? on: August 02, 2014, 02:56:10 PM
I don't think mining is currently profitable if you still have to buy all the equiptment yet.

However, that's with the current price. If you stash your mined BTC (which are now worth about, let's say $600), if might have been profitable in the long run (when the value might be about, for example $1500).  However, that's quite a gamble (in which you shouldn't be involved with money you can't afford to loose / money you lend).

Short term trading etc is still profitable (if you know how to, and got some luck).
Why don't you just buy BTC? If you actually just stash mined BTC from bought machines, the profits would be way smaller, shipping fees, overpriced equipments. It is better to use that amount of money to buy BTC as the fees combined would still be smaller than the loss from mining.

I totally agree with you. That's also the way I roll. I quit mining since many months now.   But what I ment to say was that mining still might be profitable. So if the topicstarter is really into mining, he might ROI in the long run.

Directly buying BTC instead is a smarter step in my opinion too, but hey, that's his own decision.

Mining can still be profitable.  There are so many variables.  Electricity and room is a lot of it.  With cheap electricty and lot's of extra room I am lucky.  I imagine in San Fransisco these are a premium so do ROI, also look at hosted if want to mine.  Again do ROI.

As far as "own currency exchange building". It is very hard to do legally and compete.  To get to where coinbase is you would have to most likely in spend hundreds of thousands to become a operating currency exchange in us.   Yes... you can do something like localbitcoin, but in US this is technically considered money laundering.

So far no one I know of has been in trouble for just localbitcoin trading, there has always been something larger that caused it to be looked into. But look into money laundering before doing your own currency exchange. Or better yet talk to a lawyer who can help you on business idea who knows far more then me Smiley
13871  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 02, 2014, 02:05:39 PM

Just finished the Antminer Hood H1.   Cheesy

Running a couple Habaneros at 1.4TH/s combined down below as well.

I love the setup.  Can you tell a little more about your cooling?  I'm interested in knowing what looks like a wooden exhaust at top?

It's mostly heat removal - I'm sucking in outside air to cool.  I'm mining in my garage, and pre-hood ambient temps ranged from +15-20 over outdoor temps.

I threw the wooden hood together from scraps of OSB in the workshop, even the screws are reused.  It's got a 6"x12" furnace vent box on it that feeds into 6" ducting.  There's a 400cfm in-line blower sucking the hot air out.

It's changed the difference (so far) to about +10 over outdoor temps.  Yesterday it kept the garage cozy at 80*F, outdoor temps were 70*F.

Today we jumped up to 82*F outside and I rose up to 90*F ambient, I did forget to crank the blower up to 100% though, I'll try again tomorrow.

Without the hood I would have been above 100+F.  I'd need more CFM and possibly 8" duct to remove 3500watts (12000btu), that's if it was all in a sealed cabinet.

I'd call it functional, but a band-aid on what is ultimately my problem - heat leakage into the environment combined with not enough fresh air coming in to offset the inefficiencies.

When my other ants come, I'll try to seal it up a little better, but the total cost was $12 for the vent box and about 30 mins of assembly - not a miracle, but a small win so I'll take it.

Thank you for such detail I appreciate it!  I'm been looking at different heat removal ideas for my miners to try to decide what to eventually build, I appreciate you sharing results.

Want to place an order for 10 S3 hosted.

Can I pay with paypal? What is the procedure? I place the order online - select bank transfer and then add 4% and pay via paypal?

I wanted to contact you on skype but I see 2 profiles. One with a baby and the other one is skypepcfli. (dot at the end) that says honest re-seller. Is it a scam?

If I get rented, I can have them shipped to me anytime? Do I pay for the shipping cost?

Thanks

Yes you can.  I have not tried the new website checkout, if it does not have a paypal button you can PM pcfli on to make sure on amount and he can tell you what is best way now on your sale.

In this thread on first page and post is his paypal under payment method, ONLY send to what's listed on first page.  How you mentioned multiple on Skype there are fakes that are not Mr. Lee or associated with group.

Send pm with him and he will send back.  But if you buy hosted yes they are your's and at anytime you can have them shipped to you and you do pay shipping.  The delivery miners will give you a little more of a idea of shipping. But PM him and I'm sure he will be happy to help Smiley.
13873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Overclock image for A2 Innosilicon by Emdje on: August 02, 2014, 06:31:35 AM
Hi Emdje,

If I were to over clock my A2 5 module 75mh/s miner to Max 1300mhz. Would it be fine to run it, directly under an air-conditioner sitting on 20 degrees Celsius, without making any changes or adding any heatsinks etc to the miner?

All I will do is keep the lid or top of the miner opened.

There may be a way to setup the miner and the wall mounted aircon, so the aircon, points directly at the intake fans, on the device.

Although will aircon air, blowing over the top style cooling, be just as effective?

Thanks again for this great IMG file. Appreciate your work greatly. Smiley

I'm not sure I would take the lid off.  Essentially you will be letting air go up, yes hot air goes up but the airflow then would not be making it as easily to end of the blades.

Be careful if you are overclocking and thinking about doing things such as leaving case top off.  Most likely it would be better with case top on and extra cooling going in from front or adding extra exhaust.  And of course temperature of room is a factor.
13874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Project : My first Bitcoin !!! on: August 02, 2014, 06:22:53 AM
okay didnt know that it is dangerous to post my address here.
Why can hacker use this information of my address ? how would that make them possible to hack me ?

I saw those "donation" links on nearly every bitcoin site.

It is highly frowned upon as mentioned.  By posting it you look like begging for coins, might not be true.  But normally threads with begging get ignored.

Glad to see you are getting into bitcoins.  Just a warning faucets or begging will not get you to a bitcoin.  I would look into selling your skills, mining, or buying.
13875  Economy / Securities / Re: 0.19 J/GH - CoinBau looks for investors in German mining technology on: August 01, 2014, 09:41:31 PM
This is a nigerian scam unless you can prove that W/Gh/s

How can they prove the W/Gh without a physical chip available?
So technically, they could make this claim based on simulation...
However, I've seen several chip design teams get burned by simulation

Even a couple current TOP chip producers experienced this...

But this time, it's different, right? Smiley

Well they should at least show us a demo of their first gen miners. That shouldn't be a problem, but I don't expect them to show us the simulation results...

Showing first gen would give more credit.  Even with a simulation the W/Gh is hard to believe currently.  I want it to be true, but i think this is currently not even close possible.

My miner is only performing in the high 800 gh/s, can you please look into why the performance has gone down.

If you have already tried stopping and starting mining I would use http://www.easy2mine.com/article.php?id=24 (down miner page) and mention speed and get it to Mr. Lee/Engineers quickly this way.

Rental Extension's:
I value all customers, and have had request for easier extension's. For those of you with current rental's I am trying to make extending rental's easier for you!  Please PM me around 24 hours in advance if possible that you want to extend rental and payment method used.  Pay the current price shown in first page for extension. If bitcoin please provide transaction ID.  If you wait don't give adequate time on notice of extension it might not be possible.  This is to reward current/repeat customers and give first chance at renting before it is available to a different customer.

Added to first post about rental extension's and trying to make it easier for current customers.  Please if you are wanting to extend rental and ends today/tomorrow especially let me know and send payment.

Tomorrow midday the next rental batch should start.  I will know then how many depending on how many customer's extend current rental between then.  Prices are already up, but have line through as none currently available and I do my best to not have a queue of renter's as shown in my 2nd post.

As always thank you to my customers and Happy Mining!
13878  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Corsair RM1000 powering 2 Antminers S3 on: August 01, 2014, 12:53:11 PM
With this PSU you will have to do some counting.  It has a sleek all black cable's.  So no colors, but if you look at picture or another psu you can count as all cables are black.

As always be careful with electiricity/psu.  Don't count wrong or from wrong side.

If paperclip is in right slots... you just plug it in and it turns on.  If you question if you did it right you can get a switch online.

With what you probley paid for the alienware laptop don't use it for 24x7 mining.  Use cheap desktop/raspberry pi.

With just running cgminer it sounds like it's not a lot on stress but still no reason to do it on decent laptop.
