13921  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hit $280 on: July 10, 2015, 09:44:09 AM
I think most of the European countries having the same problems as the Greeks, are slowly moving to Bitcoin markets. The Greek situation was just the spark needed to light the fuse.
International markets also got a bit of a fright with the 30% collapse of the Chinese markets, and some of them are looking for a relative safe investment <Eg. Gold / Bitcoin>
Where is my popcorn? This is a show not to be missed. ^chuckle^
13922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The days of bitcoins are still to come on: July 10, 2015, 09:35:51 AM
The mainstream adoption is happening faster than you think. Over 900 Cinemas in the USA accept Bitcoin as a payment method... This is getting crazy and it's growing bigger day by day.
In my opinion, Bitcoin will be mainstream within 5 years at the rate it's growing now and people would look back at these posts and say, "If I only invested 5 years ago, I would have been super rich now"
13923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Its time to jump ship w/ this BULLSHIT GOING ON!!! FUCK YOU CHINESE POOLS! on: July 10, 2015, 09:29:06 AM
What is the logic behind this? Most people do not even understand the fee structure and just use the default values.
Only a few people, who does understand this, would increase their fees. The only thing they are doing is to alienate new users, who only see the slow transaction confirmations. When these people leave, the demand decrease and their coins are valued less. They also had to push in a bunch of money to start this backlog, so it neutralize the profit they would be making from the increase fee's?
13924  Economy / Economics / Re: Would like to hear pros and cons for EU when Greece exit from their Zone on: July 09, 2015, 09:23:54 AM
The whole goal of the Eurozone, was to strengthen the countries in Europe after the World War II.
It seems as though that has changed. If you are not strong enough, we will give you loans until you buckle under the debt. No shots will be fired, but the country will be owned by it's debt collectors.
This is being done to increase their political leverage. If you do not play by our rules, we will crush you economically.
Other organizations are doing the same thing with other countries, to force them to play by their rules.

13925  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase sucks on: July 09, 2015, 09:15:04 AM
Are they making their own rules or are they taking orders from the government? Why do they block some users, when they use online gaming sites? <Suspected Money laundering?>
I prefer not to use these regulated exchanges, because I want the freedom to use any service I choose too and I do not want people scrutinizing my transaction history and exploiting my privacy.
13926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 Reasons to Get Your Girlfriend to Buy Her First Bitcoin Today on: July 09, 2015, 09:01:17 AM
My wife gets a bit pee'd off about the time I spend online to research and learn about Bitcoin, but she smiles when I buy her some stuff online. I include her in the browsing for goods and I show her how easy and secure it is to do the transactions.
She deposited some money into my account, to convert it to BTC for her to buy a Trezor. She has been a victim of credit card fraud, and appreciates the security of Bitcoin and hardware wallets.

13927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I worry? on: July 09, 2015, 08:50:34 AM
Attack is a strong word, and not backed up by facts. This is more a testing phase by individuals to see how much transactions the blockchain can handle, and if something has to change to accommodate more transactions per second.
There are a lot of theories and most of the testing that has been done, was not on the blockchain.
This would give us a good idea, how mainstream adoption would influence the blockchain and if and when tweaking on the protocol should be done.
The coins you have bought, would not be influenced at all. The only thing people complain about now, is the slow speed at which transactions are being confirmed, due to the high load these test are adding to the network.
13928  Economy / Economics / Re: What can greece central bank do? on: July 08, 2015, 11:40:41 AM
The banks are going to close their doors for good. People will start informal trade with goods like cigarets and baked goods, like they did in WWI and WWII. The government cannot even pay their loans, how will they get money to pay for the printing of the Drachma?
I also think they will get kicked out of the EU, if the other countries get fed up with their antics. Debt collectors will pick out the juicy parts and the people who voted NO will be blamed for all of this. ^Shame on them^
13929  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-07-06] CSO - Hacking Team Hacked, Leaked Code Targets BTC on: July 08, 2015, 11:26:36 AM
What is more scary, was the prices they charged for that service. Only governments could afford that type of money.
The <Insert the 3 letter word> agency said, they are not targeting individuals with no thread tagged against them. They just collect ALL the data and run filters through them to identify targets and then they focus on those targets.
The data are only kept for 7 days. Do we trust them to keep with that promise? Are there any more agents stealing Bitcoins, and using these tools to do it, without even them knowing about it? Will we ever know?
13930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is Mark Karpells doing these days? on: July 08, 2015, 10:06:10 AM
He is not in jail, everyone would know about that if he was. I think he is just keeping a low profile and hoping this will blow over, as time go by.
I am more worried about the projects he might be involved with now. The DEA thing was an attempt to gain favor with the community in my opinion.

13931  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece debt crisis: Bitcoin benefits from market turmoil on: July 07, 2015, 10:19:58 AM
If I was in Greece now, I would split my savings between Bitcoin and gold as a safe haven. Bitcoin would be a short term investment <store of value> and also a emergency fund, if I did not have the fiat currency to pay for something. I would not put all my eggs in the Bitcoin bucket, but I will have enough there to survive on, if the situation turns out bad and I have to relocate. ^scary^
13932  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me your predictions about Bitcoin on: July 07, 2015, 10:11:04 AM
My prediction is rather conservative, based on the track record it has to date. I should think the Greece situation should inject some demand over Europe, and the price might go up to $300 by the end of this year. The halving will also push it up a bit more to $500. The merchant base will gradually increase and some of these projects funded by VC capital will slowly push bitcoin into the mainstream. PayPal will slowly loose traction and Western Union will move over to blockchain technology to retain their market share. ^Keeping thumbs^
13933  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitland: The innovative pathway to improving land titles is getting traction on: July 07, 2015, 09:58:24 AM
His intention seemed to record land titles within the blockchain for properties within Ghana.
You can do that, but how legitimate would the proof be, if it is not accepted by the national government?
If it replaced the national register, and it was accepted by the Ghana government, it would find more traction.
If it's not accepted, you might be better off to register a plot on the surface of the Moon. ^Frown^
13934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trending in greece! on: July 07, 2015, 09:49:29 AM
The ATM's are running dry, and they are not being filled again. The local debit and credit card payments are temporarily frozen and they have limits on the daily withdrawal from banks.
People are desperate to get their hands on their own money, how ironic is that? This will never happen with Bitcoin, because you have full control over your private keys. It's a bloody mess ^hmf^
13935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the Tour de France!!! on: July 07, 2015, 09:41:51 AM
Well, not really, but it would be cool, right?

For those that watch the TDF you're familiar with the fans that line up along the road on the mountain stages cheering the riders. Often companies have their mascot on the side of the road too for some free publicity. How cool would it be to see a guy/gal dressed up in a big yellow BTC waving his hands or running along side the yellow jersey rider?

We should start a movement to get the BTC symbol and other witty quips on camera at various sporting events. The more people see it the more people may be intrigued or interested in adoption, no?

Such things become less and less likely as bitcoin looses its grassroots support with the blocksize debate and Gavins' attempts for hostile takeovers. Someone waving a Litecoin or Dogecoin flag is more likely now.

Come on, LiteCoin and DogeCoin will never catch on to Bitcoin's acceptance. The Gavin debacle is yesterday's news already. Gavin is not even a lead developer for Bitcoin Core, so his inputs has little relevance. We work with what we have now, and we grow bigger day by day.

The TDF would be a great opportunity to get some free exposure, if you can get a spot on the strategic corners or on the road.
13936  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Role Playing Game + Paid To Post Forum + Shop + Arcade (Link Live Join TODAY) on: July 03, 2015, 10:19:06 AM
I tried to play the games, but it says I do not have enough points to play it? Why do I need to have points to play the games? I posted a couple of times and I cannot see if I got points for doing this. How does this work?
It looks very complicated, but I guess I will figure it out. ^totally confused^

You can earn some point by making a post or attack someone on Battle section.
Yes you need some point for play a game, most all every 10 points you need for play 1 game. Also don't forget to store your balance on the bank, you can read on the forum about the bank, because usually your balance will dry out easily if you level war is low, you can easily attacked by someone and lot your money.

~iki

This will chase newbies away from the site. You put a lot of effort into posting and then someone with a higher level attacks you, and you loose all your coins? That will not work. I also find the paid-to-post function to be too complex. You earn Bitpoints and then you buy carrots and then you sell the carrots to other players OR the Admin for Satoshi's? <Is this how it works?> People get instant payouts at faucets, why would they want to go through all that trouble, and end up with a situation where nobody wants to buy your carrots?
13937  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cameron wants to ban encryption !? on: July 03, 2015, 10:09:39 AM
I suppose he knows encryption is used everywhere today, not just in social media. The credit card he use on a daily basis and the SSL security certificate for the donkey porn he visits. ^joke^
You cannot have the internet without using some sort of encryption. Where do they draw the line?
I see a new police state rising from the ashes and joining the likes of China. Gone are the days of free speech and privacy. ^Grrrrr^
13938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi probably started a new coin. on: July 03, 2015, 10:00:23 AM
1) maybe it was an accident, we are all human after all, satoshi wasn't a god, it can happen
2) this will only reinforces the first point
3) i don't think he is talking about aan altcoin, most likely completely different than bitcoin, not based on blockchain or something, otherwise it would be stupid for him to build a pure clone...
1
1) No. Satoshi has so many addresses which most likely extend over several wallets. Losing 1 or two is acceptable, losing all of them isn't.
Besides, who does not have a backup of their encrypted wallet somewhere?
2)
3) Satoshi claimed that he is moving onto different projects when he contacted Gavin the last time. This is only natural.
However, I doubt that he is sticking around and wasting his time on some altcoin.

1) Yes I agree (It was pulled for a reason)
2)  Huh
3) Do you think these other projects would have anything to do with Crypto currencies? Did Gavin post proof of this or was that just something he said? I have read most of his postings on this forum, and I did not get a negative vibe from it.
Something about this, make the hair at the back of my head go all prickly. hmf
13939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: July 03, 2015, 09:50:32 AM
There is so much to like, where do I start? OK, I like the fact that no central authority can block my money, like the banks did with the Greek people. I also like the security it provides me, when I buy something online. Most of all, I like the low transaction fee on any deposit or withdraw I am making. ^Huge Grin^
13940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make 100% anonymous transactions? Laundry services? on: July 03, 2015, 09:44:56 AM
When I sell a old hard drive to a friend for cash, and I use that cash to buy lunch and toys for my kids. Nobody would go through the trouble of tracing those transactions to determine my spending habits. It is a bit different with the blockchain, if you only use one address for everything you are doing, because your spending habits is known to everyone.

This is why some of us promote mixer services and single use addresses. You drop bitcoins via a Mixer service into a single use address, and then use all the coins... after that you never use it again. You have the right to keep your financial spending habits private and the same goes for cash. ^Blink^
