13941  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me your predictions about Bitcoin on: July 07, 2015, 10:11:04 AM
My prediction is rather conservative, based on the track record it has to date. I should think the Greece situation should inject some demand over Europe, and the price might go up to $300 by the end of this year. The halving will also push it up a bit more to $500. The merchant base will gradually increase and some of these projects funded by VC capital will slowly push bitcoin into the mainstream. PayPal will slowly loose traction and Western Union will move over to blockchain technology to retain their market share. ^Keeping thumbs^
13942  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitland: The innovative pathway to improving land titles is getting traction on: July 07, 2015, 09:58:24 AM
His intention seemed to record land titles within the blockchain for properties within Ghana.
You can do that, but how legitimate would the proof be, if it is not accepted by the national government?
If it replaced the national register, and it was accepted by the Ghana government, it would find more traction.
If it's not accepted, you might be better off to register a plot on the surface of the Moon. ^Frown^
13943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trending in greece! on: July 07, 2015, 09:49:29 AM
The ATM's are running dry, and they are not being filled again. The local debit and credit card payments are temporarily frozen and they have limits on the daily withdrawal from banks.
People are desperate to get their hands on their own money, how ironic is that? This will never happen with Bitcoin, because you have full control over your private keys. It's a bloody mess ^hmf^
13944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the Tour de France!!! on: July 07, 2015, 09:41:51 AM
Well, not really, but it would be cool, right?

For those that watch the TDF you're familiar with the fans that line up along the road on the mountain stages cheering the riders. Often companies have their mascot on the side of the road too for some free publicity. How cool would it be to see a guy/gal dressed up in a big yellow BTC waving his hands or running along side the yellow jersey rider?

We should start a movement to get the BTC symbol and other witty quips on camera at various sporting events. The more people see it the more people may be intrigued or interested in adoption, no?

Such things become less and less likely as bitcoin looses its grassroots support with the blocksize debate and Gavins' attempts for hostile takeovers. Someone waving a Litecoin or Dogecoin flag is more likely now.

Come on, LiteCoin and DogeCoin will never catch on to Bitcoin's acceptance. The Gavin debacle is yesterday's news already. Gavin is not even a lead developer for Bitcoin Core, so his inputs has little relevance. We work with what we have now, and we grow bigger day by day.

The TDF would be a great opportunity to get some free exposure, if you can get a spot on the strategic corners or on the road.
13945  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Role Playing Game + Paid To Post Forum + Shop + Arcade (Link Live Join TODAY) on: July 03, 2015, 10:19:06 AM
I tried to play the games, but it says I do not have enough points to play it? Why do I need to have points to play the games? I posted a couple of times and I cannot see if I got points for doing this. How does this work?
It looks very complicated, but I guess I will figure it out. ^totally confused^

You can earn some point by making a post or attack someone on Battle section.
Yes you need some point for play a game, most all every 10 points you need for play 1 game. Also don't forget to store your balance on the bank, you can read on the forum about the bank, because usually your balance will dry out easily if you level war is low, you can easily attacked by someone and lot your money.

~iki

This will chase newbies away from the site. You put a lot of effort into posting and then someone with a higher level attacks you, and you loose all your coins? That will not work. I also find the paid-to-post function to be too complex. You earn Bitpoints and then you buy carrots and then you sell the carrots to other players OR the Admin for Satoshi's? <Is this how it works?> People get instant payouts at faucets, why would they want to go through all that trouble, and end up with a situation where nobody wants to buy your carrots?
13946  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cameron wants to ban encryption !? on: July 03, 2015, 10:09:39 AM
I suppose he knows encryption is used everywhere today, not just in social media. The credit card he use on a daily basis and the SSL security certificate for the donkey porn he visits. ^joke^
You cannot have the internet without using some sort of encryption. Where do they draw the line?
I see a new police state rising from the ashes and joining the likes of China. Gone are the days of free speech and privacy. ^Grrrrr^
13947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi probably started a new coin. on: July 03, 2015, 10:00:23 AM
1) maybe it was an accident, we are all human after all, satoshi wasn't a god, it can happen
2) this will only reinforces the first point
3) i don't think he is talking about aan altcoin, most likely completely different than bitcoin, not based on blockchain or something, otherwise it would be stupid for him to build a pure clone...
1
1) No. Satoshi has so many addresses which most likely extend over several wallets. Losing 1 or two is acceptable, losing all of them isn't.
Besides, who does not have a backup of their encrypted wallet somewhere?
2)
3) Satoshi claimed that he is moving onto different projects when he contacted Gavin the last time. This is only natural.
However, I doubt that he is sticking around and wasting his time on some altcoin.

1) Yes I agree (It was pulled for a reason)
2)  Huh
3) Do you think these other projects would have anything to do with Crypto currencies? Did Gavin post proof of this or was that just something he said? I have read most of his postings on this forum, and I did not get a negative vibe from it.
Something about this, make the hair at the back of my head go all prickly. hmf
13948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: July 03, 2015, 09:50:32 AM
There is so much to like, where do I start? OK, I like the fact that no central authority can block my money, like the banks did with the Greek people. I also like the security it provides me, when I buy something online. Most of all, I like the low transaction fee on any deposit or withdraw I am making. ^Huge Grin^
13949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make 100% anonymous transactions? Laundry services? on: July 03, 2015, 09:44:56 AM
When I sell a old hard drive to a friend for cash, and I use that cash to buy lunch and toys for my kids. Nobody would go through the trouble of tracing those transactions to determine my spending habits. It is a bit different with the blockchain, if you only use one address for everything you are doing, because your spending habits is known to everyone.

This is why some of us promote mixer services and single use addresses. You drop bitcoins via a Mixer service into a single use address, and then use all the coins... after that you never use it again. You have the right to keep your financial spending habits private and the same goes for cash. ^Blink^
13950  Economy / Economics / Re: Crisis, then opportunity. on: July 02, 2015, 10:25:46 AM
People are trying to get their Euro's out of the banks and with the limit on withdrawals you would find it more difficult to get these people to use that limit to buy Bitcoins. I know of someone going there in September, to visit his relatives, and was thinking about this too, but decided against this. It feels wrong somehow to profit from people who are in a crisis. ^but that is just me^
13951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please list arguments against the idea of taking away Gavins' alert keys on: July 02, 2015, 09:22:19 AM
We are all human, and that makes us weak. The question should be, IF Gavin is only partially invested in the Bitcoin development, should he have the Alert keys? I just know Satoshi gave the alert keys to someone he thought was trustworthy and has the best interest of Bitcoin in mind.
What would the need for such keys be, if you are not investing your time and energy into Bitcoin Core development?
If it's only for brag rights or a question of pride, just get over it and pass it on to the next person who wants to lead the Core development.  Huh
13952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you tell kids about bitcoin? on: July 02, 2015, 07:51:17 AM
Well, I wouldn't actually start with bitcoin, if I wanted to teach kids about bitcoin. I'd start with Piggycoin instead, as it is more geared to the purpose:

https://www.piggy-coin.com/

Note that they have a seed fund that educators can tap into to give kids a little "play money" in crypto to play with. My four kids all have Piggycoin accounts and I pay them regularly for little off-the-cuff tasks or when they are just being especially good and helpful as a way of thanking them.

I wish there was a game like Farm Satoshi (farmsatoshi.com, referral address https://farmsatoshi.com/?ref=13181) that was suitable for kids. Farm Satoshi actually has a very kid-friendly look and feel to it and would be easy for them to pick up. It's a fun game that uses satoshi for currency and handles real payouts (like a faucet) through Xapo. The problem is that the advertising is not kid-friendly on the whole. So if someone could cut out the "Russian/Thai/Chinese babes" type ads (which are only a fairly small proportion), it could be a real winner for something like this.

I would not introduce my kids to Farmsatoshi because all indications are that they are just another Ponzi scheme. See : ChickenCoins
Yes, you are right on using Piggycoin as a example and more gaming related sites should catch on to this.
Let's just hope, when they make tons of Bitcoins, they will not use it on Silkroad III. ^chuckle^
13953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pita Bread Munchers Could Steal Bitcoins from Public Laptops on: July 02, 2015, 07:42:21 AM
It's going to have a damn hard time getting to my cold storage. <Paper Wallets> I am more worried that they would see the nude pictures of my dog, than the odd dollars I use daily to buy drinks and food. Anyone else smell the ugly troll? It's simple >>Do not store huge amounts of coins in a online wallets<<
13954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Will Bite the Dust" report on: July 01, 2015, 01:01:27 PM
When was this article written? Looks like they pulled these stats when Ghash was still dominant.
This is the latest information on pools : https://blockchain.info/pools <Am I missing something?>
I see no Armageddon here. Looks like a FUD attempt or someone who wants to push Ripple or gold or Silver?
Well written, but poorly executed. ^HeH^

13956  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitRevenues - ~ where lottery is free! ~ on: July 01, 2015, 09:31:21 AM
So do I understand this correctly? The people visit your site and solve a Capthca in the same way that they would visit a normal faucet, with the main difference that they will not receive instant reward in Satoshi, BUT a claim or a token to a lottery? The more tokens you have the higher the probability you have of winning the Lottery?

How many prizes will there be in the lottery? Freebitco.in has 10 winning chances in their lottery.
13957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you tell kids about bitcoin? on: July 01, 2015, 09:16:04 AM
Do not under estimate kids these days. I introduced my child to a Android game on the internet, where they play for a Bitcoin reward at the end of every week. He did not care about the Bitcoins, he just wanted me to cash it out for fiat. I explained to him how Bitcoin worked, and he used his Bitcoins to buy something from the internet. They do not care about the inner working of Bitcoin, only the value it has, and how they can use it to buy stuff online.
13958  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Remittance experiment with Bit2Me on: July 01, 2015, 09:07:03 AM
Are you going to branch out to other countries with this too? Who own the coins send to the sender? Why do I ask this? It is quite simple, just to know who own the private key to the coins. Are you functioning on a off-chain system like Xapo where Xapo transfer the Bitcoins internally and they own the private key, until it is send to a external address?

13959  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-06-25]European Banks Rumored to be Monitoring and Reporting Transactions.. on: June 26, 2015, 12:06:11 PM
I was one of them. My advice, open an account at more than one bank and do not use Bitcoin with a account linked to your main activities. If they close it, just go to the next bank and open up a new account, until you find a bank that is friendly towards Bitcoin users. DO NOT make huge deposits to these accounts, because they will be flagged.
I am not doing anything illegal, but the banks are simply spiteful and petty. The problem comes in when you try to open an account within the same group. Once you are flagged, you have to apply from within another group. Silly games are being played to stall the inevitable. ^frustrated^
13960  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-06-25] CD: Bitcoin Poker Site Operator to Plead Guilty on Gaming Charge on: June 26, 2015, 11:51:06 AM
<Las Vegas moguls> 1 vs <Online Bitcoin Gambling> 100
These sites on a global scale will kill these land based operations as soon as this takes off and it goes mainstream.
They use the Nevada Gaming Commission to protect their interest.
This is another industry ready for major disruption, if they do not step up and keep with the changing technology.
They already have the license and the financial backing to blow the smaller operations out of the water, why do they need the Gaming Commission to do their dirty work?
