People are trying to get their Euro's out of the banks and with the limit on withdrawals you would find it more difficult to get these people to use that limit to buy Bitcoins. I know of someone going there in September, to visit his relatives, and was thinking about this too, but decided against this. It feels wrong somehow to profit from people who are in a crisis. ^but that is just me^

We are all human, and that makes us weak. The question should be, IF Gavin is only partially invested in the Bitcoin development, should he have the Alert keys? I just know Satoshi gave the alert keys to someone he thought was trustworthy and has the best interest of Bitcoin in mind. What would the need for such keys be, if you are not investing your time and energy into Bitcoin Core development? If it's only for brag rights or a question of pride, just get over it and pass it on to the next person who wants to lead the Core development.

Well, I wouldn't actually start with bitcoin, if I wanted to teach kids about bitcoin. I'd start with Piggycoin instead, as it is more geared to the purpose: https://www.piggy-coin.com/Note that they have a seed fund that educators can tap into to give kids a little "play money" in crypto to play with. My four kids all have Piggycoin accounts and I pay them regularly for little off-the-cuff tasks or when they are just being especially good and helpful as a way of thanking them. I wish there was a game like Farm Satoshi (farmsatoshi.com, referral address https://farmsatoshi.com/?ref=13181) that was suitable for kids. Farm Satoshi actually has a very kid-friendly look and feel to it and would be easy for them to pick up. It's a fun game that uses satoshi for currency and handles real payouts (like a faucet) through Xapo. The problem is that the advertising is not kid-friendly on the whole. So if someone could cut out the "Russian/Thai/Chinese babes" type ads (which are only a fairly small proportion), it could be a real winner for something like this. I would not introduce my kids to Farmsatoshi because all indications are that they are just another Ponzi scheme. See : ChickenCoins Yes, you are right on using Piggycoin as a example and more gaming related sites should catch on to this. Let's just hope, when they make tons of Bitcoins, they will not use it on Silkroad III. ^chuckle^

It's going to have a damn hard time getting to my cold storage. <Paper Wallets> I am more worried that they would see the nude pictures of my dog, than the odd dollars I use daily to buy drinks and food. Anyone else smell the ugly troll? It's simple >>Do not store huge amounts of coins in a online wallets<<

When was this article written? Looks like they pulled these stats when Ghash was still dominant. This is the latest information on pools : https://blockchain.info/pools <Am I missing something?> I see no Armageddon here. Looks like a FUD attempt or someone who wants to push Ripple or gold or Silver? Well written, but poorly executed. ^HeH^

I tried to play the games, but it says I do not have enough points to play it? Why do I need to have points to play the games? I posted a couple of times and I cannot see if I got points for doing this. How does this work? It looks very complicated, but I guess I will figure it out. ^totally confused^

So do I understand this correctly? The people visit your site and solve a Capthca in the same way that they would visit a normal faucet, with the main difference that they will not receive instant reward in Satoshi, BUT a claim or a token to a lottery? The more tokens you have the higher the probability you have of winning the Lottery?
How many prizes will there be in the lottery? Freebitco.in has 10 winning chances in their lottery.

Do not under estimate kids these days. I introduced my child to a Android game on the internet, where they play for a Bitcoin reward at the end of every week. He did not care about the Bitcoins, he just wanted me to cash it out for fiat. I explained to him how Bitcoin worked, and he used his Bitcoins to buy something from the internet. They do not care about the inner working of Bitcoin, only the value it has, and how they can use it to buy stuff online.

Are you going to branch out to other countries with this too? Who own the coins send to the sender? Why do I ask this? It is quite simple, just to know who own the private key to the coins. Are you functioning on a off-chain system like Xapo where Xapo transfer the Bitcoins internally and they own the private key, until it is send to a external address?

I was one of them. My advice, open an account at more than one bank and do not use Bitcoin with a account linked to your main activities. If they close it, just go to the next bank and open up a new account, until you find a bank that is friendly towards Bitcoin users. DO NOT make huge deposits to these accounts, because they will be flagged. I am not doing anything illegal, but the banks are simply spiteful and petty. The problem comes in when you try to open an account within the same group. Once you are flagged, you have to apply from within another group. Silly games are being played to stall the inevitable. ^frustrated^

<Las Vegas moguls> 1 vs <Online Bitcoin Gambling> 100 These sites on a global scale will kill these land based operations as soon as this takes off and it goes mainstream. They use the Nevada Gaming Commission to protect their interest. This is another industry ready for major disruption, if they do not step up and keep with the changing technology. They already have the license and the financial backing to blow the smaller operations out of the water, why do they need the Gaming Commission to do their dirty work?

Facebook is a global company with a good reputation. Why would they allow a volatile currency in it's infancy? Compared to the traditional Fiat banking sector, the Bitcoin technology is still young and unstable as a payment method¤cy. The % of people who adopted Bitcoin is also dwarfed by the amount of people who are using the Fiat banking system. It does not make sense for them to implement a payment system that is not widely accepted.

Actually, I'd prefer it if bitcoin was adopted by the porn industry, because it shouldn't be shameful to use it with anything. You can also pay your bills with bitcoin and if you can buy porn and drugs with fiat cash then why not bitcoin? If we want bitcoin to succeed as a currency then people should be able to buy absolutely anything they want with it... even illegal stuff and that's just up to the authorities to police.
Oh, and fuck the ignorant perception of society. They'll change their mind over time, but then it'll be too late for them anyway.
As long as there is some taboo associated with watching porn, bitcoin is a natural fit for the porn industry. Credit card companies and banks sometimes have hesitation in dealing with porn companies. No such issues with bitcoin. I think the proportion of porn sites accepting bitcoin should be already high. The majority of these people have no clue how to use Bitcoin to make it anonymous, so they should stick to the traditional payment methods and be done with it. The only positive side, as you have stated in your post, is for the porn industry. The credit card companies have no more control, on what they will support and what not. If the porn site make use of payment processors, they could be in the same position. These companies can also block payments to these sites through their service.

Just when I thought the previous price spike was due to a small Willy bot doing it's thing on a certain exchange. I would not be willing to bet my earthly possessions on this, that it would be going any way near to $1000 again. My guess is, it will go up to +/- $400 if everything goes well, and it will stay there for the next year. <pure speculation>

If I play on a site like Primedice, then visiting a clone with the same script and design just with a different domain name and owner isn't any fun. I would still stick to the original for playing. You might still be able to sell like people sell coindice clones but it wouldn't be popular for long.
I seriously doubt that they would offer a Primedice clone script. It would look similar to the default faucet scripts out there. I was also interested in a whitelabel copy of one of the more popular casino sites and they quoted me something like $50k for the bare bone structure without the extras. If you are going to provide such a service, I would seriously go for a Open-source option, with complete transparency. Trust is going to be a mayor issue. Good luck with this. ^frown^

How ironic ~ Nobody know for sure, but it looked like Satoshi developed the Bitcoin protocol to stick it to the banks. Now he is gone and they are stealing his blockchain technology to use it to make them even stronger. They will not use the blockchain in fear of what it could be used for if he retaliates, they would rather use a new technology based on his concept. ^Very Sad^
What did you expect? The banks would never open their arms and embrace a free, open source project, they want their own cake and charge their own interest rates for their slices. Our hope is that their experiments fail and they end up forced to enter the bitcoin blockchain or be deprecated by it. I did not expect anything less from them. They nearly collapsed the global economy with their scrupulous practices and they are extorting the poor to enrich themselves in developing countries. What I do expect from them, are a total re-branding of the Blockchain technology as their own innovation and a focused attack on the Bitcoin community to destroy them. All this being funded by our money.

Some of the gambling sites I use allow for 1 confirmation to except the transaction or deposit. So for me it is not such a big issue. I will agree with you that it would become a problem if I had to pay for a cup of Java and by the time the confirmation comes through the coffee will be cold. On smaller transactions this might become a bigger problem.

he would have cashed out those early bitcoins years ago.
he can't spend his coin because he don't have access to his wallet....i'm pretty sure he have lost his private keys.... the question is....why these bitcoins are dormient for years ? if you had created something that could make you rich , why the hell did not use it ? at least a part of them .... I do not believe that satoshi created everything ' to free , maybe it was not for profit , but when values have risen why not enjoy the money you earn? The only way I could see the NSA/CIA doing it is if they had the director of the operation standing over them ensuring that they deleted the private keys for every mined block, and then had multiple people supervise the destruction of the hard drive where the private key existed (every 10 minutes). Two FBI guys were exposed to private keys worth a lot less and they ended up stealing them. We are after all dealing with government employees here. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Most of these guys are getting paid much better than their peers in the private sector. ^joke^ Do you think a agency exposed him and he was forced to destroy it? He is such a genius, I would think that he committed his whole private key to memory. ^joke#2^

Why not make it interesting and just change it a little? 1s@t=0.00000001BTC Just replace the a with @ and you have something with a different meaning? I hate it when sites use bits and I have to jump to preev.com to do the conversion. Yes I am too lazy to think.
