13961  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Considering hosting miners for others, what kWh rate would generate interest? on: May 24, 2020, 12:11:28 AM
hosting is hard.

That said you could get customers at 4 cents easy.

5 cents they will still come.

and at 6 cents you won't get many.

Of course all is based on current coin price  and current difficulty.

From the viewpoint of a miner are you trustworthy is a big problem for you to fix.

A lot of miners won't send gear to you since they don't know you.

Then up time is your next problem.
You need to be up 29 out of 30 days.
Maybe 59 out of 60.

last 90 days we lost

1.5 days  which is about normal for us

Okay I got paid  I am running 1 unit over night for

vickersja

will run second for him tommorow.

I will ship him two  2 board miners and 2 psu's on Tuesday via fedex I think.  I like to use fedex the clerk is hot. Wink

I have three 2 board miner's left
you can go as low as 280-290 watts
as high as 500 watts for these miners

If you are in USA and want a psu let me know.

they are about 70 plus shipping  without psu.
they are about 90 plus shipping with psu.

3 miners as heaters left.
only 2 psu's

FedEx should make that a commercial.  Wink

I wanted to give others the chance to purchase, but if there are no other takers, consider them sold!

Don't worry the next set of fans came from China which means I can build 5 more. I will ship you the two Tues and be ready to sell more to you next week.

They are nice lottery machines with added benefit with heating.

I will end up with lots of spare parts so I will be able to support these for quite a while

the braiins software is really nice.
Runs well on mac os  chrome safari or firefox.
on windows  10 it likes firefox.

Thanks!  Just sent a PM.  Ill take 2 with the PSU's

Can you share the voltage and proper settings for the best/max with the quiet fans?  I think you mentioned customizable voltage in a previous post.

Yes I will set it all up and test run it over the weekend then ship on Tuesday. due to holidays.

 Please send me btc

200 usd worth to

https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/address/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3

146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3

Send me a pm.  and give me a btc addy to mine to on solo.ckpool

I will get this set up asap

please send me payment details and give me the btc addy to mine to>

If it hits it would be cool.

I will show the screen shots of the 2 units test running.

THIS unit below would be yours.

volts are        8.05
freq is           300
fans set to 60%  that gives a steady 1860 to 1960 rpm
watt meter says  360 watts

hash rate =  4.273

360/4.273 = 84.24 watts a th   but it will flux.  since hash rate drops to 4th and jumps to 4.5th  as hashrate does flux so you can run from 79 to 87 watts a th at this setting.

13965  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I will be making some s9 space heaters. on: May 23, 2020, 02:36:57 PM
Cant wait for the 2 boarders to be ready! Smiley

Phil, will you be making any more single board units or are the dual boards more efficient/quiet?

I am not going to do any more  1 boarders.

I have two boarders ready. Five of them tested and can ship on Tuesday.

The two board can go to about 280 watts low end setting

and to about 500 watts high end setting with the quiet fans.

Two of them can range from 560 to 1000 watts.

They are a bit more efficient  then the one board. say 85 watts vs 90 watts a th

Shoot me a pm if you want 1 or 2 of them.

Since you are in USA

 I can do

About 190-210 for 2 units with 2 psu's

About 170-190 for 2 units with 1 psu  please note if you do this and hook both units up to 1 psu you can still use 120 volts but you would want to go lower speed as the psu's on 120 volts prefer to stay at 700 watts or less. So you would need to set to about 4th each unit and use 700 watts

About 150-170 for  2 units and no psu.

I forgot if you are west coast or near me in Howell,NJ. thus. the price range of 20 bucks is for more shipping cost to west coast.

Note the psu's will only be available to USA buyers.

Shipping to Europe is hard to do and they break balls on psu's along  with the extra cost to ship makes the psu's only USA
I needed to write 7 emails to get some gear into Spain due to psu safety rules and price of the gear.
They wanted exact proof of price .

I can ship the modded s9's as modified non working servers for testing and repair if I send to Europe.

Technically since there is no psu in the box they are not working gear  and they really do need testing and "repair".
13966  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Please vote for Bitmain to enable Low Power Mode for T17, T17E, T17+, S17E, S17+ on: May 23, 2020, 12:31:33 PM
the boards have six sensors.

all of the 3 chip sensors are dead.

each and every board has a working pcb sensor.

I can set too hot at 92 c.  the gear should run safely.

although I don't know that it will and I am not certain what the gear does. if the pcb temps go beyond 92c

since the boards are shitty anyway I could try to find out.

Maybe I will test it out with direct supervision.
13967  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Please vote for Bitmain to enable Low Power Mode for T17, T17E, T17+, S17E, S17+ on: May 23, 2020, 04:19:46 AM
braiins has fan options so if you set two fans must work.

two fans must work.

and the pcb sensors work on my dead chip boards.

so running dead heat sensor boards on braiins still has a pcb heat sensor

which can still shut board down.

i do agree running a board with:

no chip sensor
no fan sensor
no pcb board sensor is not safe.

but running my three boards

with no chip sensor
two pcb sensors
two fans sensors

should still work safely.

it is set to look for two fans.

it is set for temp at 90-92

which means it shuts down when pcb temp gets too high.
13968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to answer when asked "Can I make money mining bitcoin?" on: May 23, 2020, 03:42:00 AM
If you give me a building within a 1 hour drive from my house. with 4 cent power I will make you money.

Caveats .

You need 4 cent power.
You need to give me at least four 30 amp circuits to make it worth my while.
You need to have internet set up.

Don’t expect large profit but there is money to be made with cheap power.

13972  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: May 22, 2020, 03:21:50 PM
You should create plagiarism bingo card and put all you reason there
I would but I have yet to state an actual reason for this, or figure out what the reason was. Read my post again. These events are too far into the past for me to know much more than the outside viewer.

Fuck your reason, it's a plagiarism and you should be ban. Simple as that.

It's simple as all plagiarism cases. You plagiarize you should be perma ban.

No I think signature bans are more appropriate then permabans  for most case of plagiarism .

Also back 2015 no one gave a shit about the issue.

I have argued this over and over and over for more then one person.

No one ever listened to me about it.

Two examples  given about lauda appear to be clear cut examples of plagiarism.
I have argued more then once for long term signature bans especially over the older posts predating 2017.
So I say give Lauda a long signature ban.

Signature to read    "My signature is banned until (2021 or 2022) or 2024  BTC ½ ing

It effectively removes incentive to plagiarize for the sake of signature profits and it allows us to track lauda since he/she could post but not earn coin.  A ban would simply incentivize lauda to use an alt.

BTW I think we should unban quite a few people and just give them signature bans.
13973  Other / Meta / Re: WHY LAUDA'S PLAGIARISM CASE HAVE SO MUCH DRAMA? on: May 22, 2020, 03:08:42 PM
Must say I was surprised to see a thread like this. Will there be a ban? Yes, if the threshold for plagiarism is passed. The forum is consistent in punishment. Will it be permanent? No.
I believe that regardless of how you feel about Lauda and their judgement they have been a net positive to the forum. It's not a good look but they will still be welcomed as a member if the forum.
Unless I've missed something that is still the criteria.  So likely a sig ban for a year and 30 day temp ban.

Yeah one or two of the examples do not look to good for Lauda.

I would imagine a 6 month to 2 year signature ban and maybe a 30 to 90 day real ban.

I don't believe in permaban

I do think signature bans are good.

I would prefer to see lauda post and have a  signature ban.  With the following statement my signature has been banned until (Jan 1 2021)  or what ever date.

I actually prefer signature ban for most offenders.

It allows you to follow the person and new posts they make.

Instead of them retreating to an alt account no one knowns anything about.
13974  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I will be making some s9 space heaters. on: May 22, 2020, 02:30:20 PM
I have been using  Parallelminer PSUs for 110VAC to 220VAC for all home use projects, here is a link:
https://bit.ly/2TtvdOR

I think they will be better(more industrial) than the PSUs you are using.  Just trying to help out.

Here is a setup for a S9 for reference:

This one may be good for your heater:

This one may be large enough for your heater:

So funny you should mention this..

I can run 2 x 2 board units but it gets the fan in the psu a bit louder.

It does run 1x 2 board unit perfectly go for about 4.75th. use about 400 watts

I just got 3 of these psu's in house seller's company is under 5 miles from my house.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-643956-201-1200W-HSTNS-PL30-Platinum-Plus-Hot-Plug-Power-Supply-643933-101/312798058602?

I have sent one to kingcolex with a breakout board and wires it is not heavy to ship to USA

I found 3 breakout boards.

so I now have 3 of these psu's blue plug jack style means more efficient then black plug.   say 397 watts vs 415 watts for black plug style

13975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi just moved his coins? on: May 22, 2020, 01:13:38 PM
Seriously, i think we don't need to take this conversation more seriously because the news is somehow affecting the crypto market already and whoever sent the transaction possibly wants this to happen and the person that sent the transaction is definitely not Satoshi. However, bitcoin has already got some dedicated miners since 2009 which Laszlo Hanyecz was among them and i don't think anyone should believe the transaction was from Satoshi because of the coin was mine in the year 2009, if the transaction does not come from the well known Satoshi wallet.

This is having zero effect on the market.

The ½ ing has dropped the diff.

I have spent more then five years studying difficulty drops more then anything else to predict price.

We are simply mirroring exactly what happen to litecoin last year after the lite coin 1/2ing

both difficulty and price dropped like mad.

LOOK AT LTC charts last year.

July 2019 pre 1/2ing 100 usd plus   difficulty 16.5 million
August 2019 after ½ ing 60 usd plus difficulty  11..4 million

we are simply doing a variation of that.
Oh ok. I make the previous statement cause i once hear that the bitcoins in Satoshi wallet may somehow affect price of bitcoin market but due to your respond i think the exit of some miners after bitcoin halving which will lead to difficulty reduction was the reason why some people believe the halving effect to have already priced in but if we judge base on the difficulty decrease that happen 2013 and 2018

Tell you what. if 3 or 4 more low count blocks move. you would be correct I think people would panic.

I wonder how many blocks from 1 to 10,000 can be cashed out. ie people have keys.
13976  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I can develop low cost electric power, what are my options on what to do with it on: May 22, 2020, 03:32:46 AM
So lets say you are truly 5 cents.

I moved it up to five even to account for dead miners.

200kwatt gen burning 160kwatts allows  for 50 s17e miners.

they cost 160 x 24 = 3840 kwatts a day.

make it 4000 which is 200 a day.

50 miners will do 3ph  they earn about 260 a day.   this is only about 60 profit

50 of those units are about 40 k plus shipping and tax.

maybe 50k you worked in all your other expenses into power cost.

pretend you were perfectly accurate.

If you clear 60 a day 850 days later. you paid off the mining gear.

you need to understand those 50 units will break somewhat.

Oh you will also have to,wait at least a few weeks to get the gear.

I might setup the farm with zero gear ⚙️ Maybe only 25000 out of pocket.

they buy units slowly.

13978  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I can develop low cost electric power, what are my options on what to do with it on: May 22, 2020, 12:17:11 AM
5 cents has reached the point of only being an okay price

3 cents is good.

times are hard right now.

A lot of my advice to you is based on your infrastructure.

Do you have a building?
Can you vent it?
Can you wire it cheaply?
Are you counting the generator as part of the 5 cents a kwatt

What can you do for internet?

At five cent power.

you need the building in place already.

if you are renting or building out your space that five cost goes way up.
13979  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling Bitmain Antminer S17+ 73th/s – Bitcoin Miner on: May 22, 2020, 12:11:49 AM
73 x 0.00000971 = 0.00070883 btc with free power at viabtc. which is around $6.45 usd with zero power cost.
