141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Chinese will take over the Bitcoin Market. on: May 05, 2013, 05:28:23 PM
If the Chinese do start using Bitcoin more then we can expect to see a huge price rise, which isn't that good for me as I don't really have many Bitcoins and have more Litecoins but maybe I will start buying more while the price is pretty low like it is at the moment.

Martin.

Hey,

Sucks you're having trouble mining, try to mine in pools as you all work together and generally get paid more quicker and it's easier to withdrawl.

use an escrow service to avoid scammers.

I may need to read up on how a escrow service works on a forum like this, I don't think I will be doing many trades anyway. But if I do I guess I will use a service like that. Thanks for the tip, helps me out to learn how these things work.

Martin.
144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do you think my plan of action should be? on: May 04, 2013, 09:57:17 PM
Keep them both.

Seems like a good plan, they do say never put all your eggs in one basket. I got the Litecoins pretty early on before I knew anything about all the different coins and paid around 1.50 USD per coin so got a pretty good deal.

Martin.
145  Other / Beginners & Help / What do you think my plan of action should be? on: May 04, 2013, 09:38:08 PM
Hello,

So I have a bit of a problem, I am pretty new to all this and have slowly gained 5 Bitcoins and 620 Litecoins. Do you think I should keep hold of my Litecoins or trade them for Bitcoins, if so how would I go about doing that. Or should I go ahead and trade my 5 Bitcoins for Litecoins. I am looking to add more coins each month after I get paid and also wondering what types of coins I should buy.

Or, would it be wise to keep a selection of the two and slowly build up a collection of each. I know I don't have that many at the moment and I have seen some posts on here about people having thousands but I pretty much follow the rule of don't invest what you can't afford to loose and I don't have huge amounts of money left over each month to invest high amounts so looking to build up slowly.

Regards,

Martin.

Awesome, I am glad Bitoin is working out for you. I am new to it all really and have around 5 coins at the moment so day trading wouldn't really be good for me. I have cheked out MtGox.com and other sites like that but they don't seem very good for United Kingdom residents due to the cost to cash out and put money in so I am going to avoid that and just buy from local venors for the moment.

Martin.

I like it, it doesn't really bother me. Since I am new I have loads to read anyway and it helps stop people signing up and spamming the regular forum and also stops bots from signing up and spamming. I have been on forums before and every day they had 20 - 30 users joining and just spamming adverts for various products all over the place.

148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost my litecoin wallet password... on: May 04, 2013, 09:20:33 PM
I almost did that with my Bitcoin password, I made it while I was visiting my parents house and wrote it down and left the bit of paper I wrote it on there and when I got home I checked on my coins and notcied I forgot my password. I searched everywhere and about 5 minutes after giving up hope I got a call from my mother asking me if I needed the bit of paper I had left on the side. I only had 5 BTC but that was all I have at the moment due to being new to the whole Bitcoin scene. I hope you manage to find the password, let us know how it went.

Martin.

Thanks guys, seems like there is so much to learn. Hopefully after a few weeks I will know much more about Bitcoins, maybe when I am more settled in work I will be able to focus on a side project involving Bitcoins but a little too busy at the moment.

I would not case them I would go open air. I have 5 7950 running at 620 khash. you want open air and riser cables's get some vented plastic racking and a big ass fan. can't go wrong.

I agree, keeping your hardware cool is key. At work we had a couple of servers go bad due to them getting way too hot, was during a really hot summers day and the room was way too hot for all the hardware but we have a school full of 300 children so we couldn't really just shut them down as the teachers use their PC's for all the classes. Well, they ended up over heating even tho we told our boss we need to turn them off but he didn't listen. Lesson learned for him I guess, anyway a few extra fans won't go a miss.

Martin.

Hello,

That looks like a pretty nice build there, you might not need a 1TB drive but you could always use it again when your done. I would be using that for Litecoins, it should hold up pretty well and after it becomes too hard to mine Litecoins you got all that awesome hardware left over. Be sure to post a thread after your decide what to order, would be a nice thread.

152  Other / Beginners & Help / Hello, how is everyone? on: May 04, 2013, 08:56:18 PM
Hello,

How is everyone doing tonight? my name is Martin and I just joined this forum after finding it though Google. I am 24 and work in IT in a school fixing basic computers connected to a network. Pretty easy work, just fixing dead parts and connection issues. I was speaking to a friend of mine and he introduced me into Bitcoin and ever since then I have been interested in it and a few weeks ago I bought my first 5 BTC.

Ever since then I have been very interested in them for the long run, so expect me to be around here pretty often.

I plan on using this forum to learn how to keep my coins secure and also just keep up to date with the news about Bitcoin and other coins.

Well that is all for now, will be posting around more so see you guys around the forum.

Regards,

Martin Reynolds
