141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTB] The BitBar Information Thread on: May 13, 2013, 04:52:57 PM
Why set difficulty at 0 if the purpose of the bitbar is to be very rare and hard to get? Creator couldnt have been so naive  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Let's look at some other coins:

Feathercoin launched with difficulty 0
Terracoin launched with difficulty 1 (just as low as 0 in effect)
Chinacoin launched with difficulty 0
Novacoin launched with difficulty 0

etc

Are you seeing a pattern yet? Please stop trolling
what i see is that is a small group that creates and mine when difficulty is low and earn lot of money... joking with the rest

As a prelaunch we announce our new Bitcoin Exchange located in wonderfull Copenhagen, Denmark. (Scandinavia).

We have a first version ready, that are fairly simple to use.

We make all deposits/withdraws in bankwires/BTCwallets FREE at the moment!

The standard fee for Exchange is 0,5% (note under MTGOXs fee for "smaller" transactions).

Note that the site is in a FIRST VERSION and can still hold some bugs, so please be patience with us, in case of bugs.

We would prefare to receive smaller clients and give a fast and cheap service, in this introduction fase. But on the other hand will we accept all clients.

Our bank account is in Denmark and at the moment we receive currency in DKK, please note that the clients pay all bank fees involved in transactions and that PeopleMooney.com convert any deposit/withdraw without fee accourding to the official daily currency rate of the Danish National Bank.

145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which linux distro on flash stick? on: May 08, 2013, 07:03:58 PM
You should be able to use any distribution you want.

I've successfully installed Debian on a stick. And Ubuntu is based on Debian.

But a stick is not as resilient as a (SSD) disk with regards to rewriting, so the stick might not last
as long. OTOH, the price of a 4GB stick isn't much, so it not a big problem (for me at least).

147  Economy / Goods / Re: FOR SALE: Early Batch #2 AVALON! 48hr Auction [ENDS 09/05/2013 12:00pm GMT] on: May 08, 2013, 07:00:44 PM
Hi I am considering selling one of my early batch #2 Avalon ASICs.

Avalon SPECS:

• Hashrate: greater than 63 Gh/s speed guaranteed (+2 Gh/s with latest Firmware) = 65 Gh/s+
• Power consumption: ~ 600w @ 120v AC
• Contains three hashing modules 20 Gh/s greater each (with one more empty expansion slots, 4 slots total)
• Uses standard computer ATX power supply.
• Self contained unit with Ethernet and WiFi capabilities.
• Open sourced openWRT operating system with webGUI.

note: Avalon ASIC is designed to only mine Bitcoins.

It will have about 65 Ghash in speed and 600w PSU is included - OCZ-ZX850W fully modular PSU available, I bought 2 in preparation (PM ME).

BTC, USD, GBP or goods accepted! Make me an offer!

I will provide all necessary proofs i.e. Passport, Driving License (with address), Utility Bills, Avalon order details/email correspondence forwarded to you.

You already have my name Wink

STARTING BID: 200BTC

AUCTION WILL END 12PM GMT ON 09/05/2013

UPDATE (08/05/2013)

I will not use Escrow, at least not for the full amount.

I would require a deposit of 1/3 of the total price up front, converted to fiat. The remaining amount I am happy to wait for, you can pay me when the machine arrives in your hands. I would even consider letting the person mine for a while to get the BTC... If the offer is good of course.

Of course all of this is up to the buyers discretion and whether they feel confident enough to do so. I will provide all and any proofs of who I am and the order from Avalon upon sale. We can meet in person, whatever you like!

Tracking number will be provided, my 2 ASICs are probably going to be shipped separately from Avalon (2 different order #) so you will receive your own tracking number. If the units get shipped at separate times YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FIRST ONE!

I have had some very promising offers, I have also listed it on bitmit starting at $30,000 - with 1 bid... I am not too hopeful on that and I would rather do a deal on here.

https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/31304-avalon-asic-bitcoin-btc-miner-preorder-batch-2-68-ghash-s

My highest private offer so far:

£7500 + 150BTC (a PM on bitmit, no terms yet, initial offer).

Why you sell it?
148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbie and question - my comp crashed on: May 08, 2013, 06:58:30 PM
Hello all,

I downloaded the bitcoinqt wallet. I left it syncing for about 48 hours and got to less than 10,000 blocks to go. unfortunately, overnight, my comp crashed. Now when I open the wallet, it says it can't find the sync data and suggests I start again. I checked my properties and loads of HD space is gone so I evidently have the data somewhere. I don't mind starting again - but obviously I don't want to lose further disk space. I'm unsure where to find the sync data to remove it so my space is freed up again to re-start the process.- /unless of course there is some way of helping my comp to find that data, but i suspect that is unlikely, i am resigned to starting the process again. I guess the data was ruined when it crashed or something.  Looking in programmes, i can't see any items that would be even slightly close to large enough to be taking up that space on my disc.

Sorry if this is a stupid question! I'm very new to bitcoin, as you might be able tell! I had a very small amount sent to one of the addresses in that wallet so I wanted to get back in to it - though if it's strongly recommended that I use a different one, I can live with it being lost, as it really was minute.

I'm not a total technology noob but my knowledge has all just come from usage and playing around, and btc is totally new to me, so i'm a bit nervous of just deleting things haphazardly. I also wasn't sure whether uninstalling the wallet would do the job, and whether I would then have lost my pointless amount of btc to the ether...

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry if this is covered somewhere; i did a quick search using the facility above but couldn't find anything except posts which were a bit too advanced for me.

A pc can crash for various things f.e. part failure, overheating from overclocking etc. But while mining this can happen from overclocking of gpu/cpu
