141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CPU mining] Yenten [YTN] [Exchange avilable BTC/YTN] on: November 03, 2017, 04:25:43 PM
Glad to see another CPU coin.  Fun stuff for us nerds on the computer.  Good luck with this project and I hope we see 1 yen < 1 yenten very soon!

It traded at about 6 yen a few days ago, It's way ahead of schedule!
Actually what I thind the Dev's mean with 1 yen < 1 yenten is 1Yenten=10Yen

Actuall i think yenten means “money from heaven” or something like that, so not ten in the sense that we know. it was mentioned earlier that yenten is named after, or based on, a ponzi scheme propogatdd by a chinese businessman in the late 2000s that promised to make the world a better place and fix global warming etc

Guys, tell me, please, it turns out, there is no idea. Coin for miners from miners? Especially on the CPU. It seems to me that the faster the thermal paste will dry up than the processor will earn extra money.

your post history is a ticker tape of fud. yenten will strive.

how many tokens in total are you issuing?
Did you bother to read the ANN?
Total YTN:  84,000,000 YTN
This is a POW coin.  Coins are mined.  There are no tokens issued.
What is the amount of premine coin and the reserve fund for development?

this a joke, right? it’s like you scrolled through the ANN just to make the “yes i read it” button light up.

Nice the dude who took over 70% of the hashrate is gone!  I have an idea in the future on a cpu coin limiting the max hashrate of the network.  Does a network even really need over say 200khash to work? We could make a coin that stops giving rewards if the hashrate gets over 200khash.  Small independent miners who are spending pennies a day mining in electricity would be able to keep mining wheras big assholes and pools wouldn't be able to survive mining it...power to the little people.

I think that was a botnet as it was showing around 2000 miners and now it's just 200 so definitely it was botnet

Yup you are to the point. It really feels bad when you have little hash and people come with contract like nicehash and make sure to create hell for small miners.

It wasn't a botnet and it wasn't 2000 miners, it was 1000 ( they were mine).  The pool just disconnects them so often that it gets the count wrong.  I also crashed the pool frequently with only 1000 machines, which is pretty bad.  If the author wants to make his source public, I'll host an additional pool myself to take load away (I host other pools)

Maye you should mine a coin that you won't crash to zero by trying to sell one days worth of blocks.  Your wasting your time here.

One days worth of coins is currently 18.9% of total supply because, you know, the coin has been around for like 5 days. So your argument is what exactly? wait a few months before mining?

I’m sure similar advice was floated in the early days of other coins. I’m sure 1,800 btc is too much per day right now too.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please help with joke coins on: November 03, 2017, 02:37:39 AM
Hello. I want to write an article for my local community about different joke coins. For the moment I know only about Dogecoin and Jesuscoin. Have someone heared about any other altcoins that were made just for lulz?

yenten is named after a ponzi scheme from 2009 and its site is pretty jokey: https://conan-equal-newone.github.io/yenten/index2.html

but me and others are mining away on yenten.

i think it's important to understand that joke coins are "cringe resistant": it's hard to criticize a project that does not even take itself seriously. i would prefer to follow a technically sound joke coin than a serious coin made by a mid-level developer who thinks they are about to solve some fundamental problem that doesn't actually exist.

Network hashrate looks insane....

so what’s next? with 36,000 coins mined a day, when do those coins dump onto the exchange, and what will future users think about accumulation by those who control all the hashrate?

Yeah i know, my pool sucks.

No, there is no ip range ban.

I already boost the stratum server in order to support the load.

And yeah, i'm doing my best. It's my 1st pool / 1st website with such load.

Things will get better. I'm doing the setup for load balancing the yescryptR16 stratum server.
Front is ok, DB is ok, wallet servers are ok.

You can keep in touch with me on my Discord : https://discord.gg/KCMByyz

Happy mining.

pool just dont work, and 2% fee, really? PS: pools will kill this coin  Cry

1. he's working on fixing it.
2. he said he spent 4 days getting this joke coin algo to work on its first pool i think 2% is reasonable for a couple weeks
3. you can believe pools kill coins but that doesn't stop anybody else from starting a pool. if he doesnt do it someone else will.

so who are the 2,465 miners on that pool? a gpu farm or botnet?
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CPU mining] Yenten [YTN] [Exchange avilable BTC/YTN] on: November 01, 2017, 03:10:14 PM
from 150 kh to 500 kh overnight, this coin is already 51%'d.  I will be looking for an exit.  They could hardfork it and prevent any other miners from mining it whenever they feel like it.  This is the end sadly.  They must have gotten GPU's working.

But if someone hard forked then everyone would know right?

what miner are you using ? i can find a miner for yesscryptr16 Sad

it's the minerd file on the github. follow the site

also some questions because im new to cpu:
what are the downsides of a botnet entering? just that the reward accumulate with nefarious actors?
and what is the market cap at which asics usually enter the game, and why couldnt current asics or gpus be modded to mine?

The downsides to a botnet mining are increasing the difficulty by a lot for the rest of us to win blocks.  Also bad press.  Not only would a coin have to have roughly a billion dollar market cap for asic companies to care, but certain types of processes like this one are just much less able to be broken down into simple optimized tasks for an asic.  GPU's are more specialized than cpu's but less specialized than asic's so with the right software people can oiptimize them more for a certain algorithm like standard yescrypt and cryptonight.  The reason we want to make it resistant to GPU and asic is because then less hashes will be done on the network and less hashes mean less power is wasted and it is cheaper to mine in electricity and hardware cost.  The difference between a raspberry pi bank and asic bank in energy usage is lightyears apart.  Also cpu's can be used for anything and so an investment is never wasted if you stop mining.

thanks this is good new info to me.

on a sarcastic note, it would be a shame if this serious project received negative press.

This currency is the same name as the fraud case by L & G in Japan in the 2000s. It's a bad joke.

so youre saying this is the next pepecash. im still mining and buying based on strong fundamentals.
