141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS BTC Halal ? on: December 17, 2017, 10:43:22 AM
why you have to mix cryptocurrencies with religion?

It's because there is a whole finance sector which is concerned with banking and finance in accordance with Islam. Check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_banking_and_finance . I personally think there is only one type of banking and Islamic banking is just another name for the same thing, but it's not entirely surprsing that the question arises whether bitcoin is halal or not.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the future of Electroneum token? on: December 17, 2017, 10:24:18 AM
I would hold for now. I think Electroneum is going to start to be traded on some other exchanges in the near future. The coin looks to be promising as well. So I would hold the tokens to see where the price will go.
143  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-17]US Chief Regulator: Bitcoin Not a Threat to Financial Systems on: December 17, 2017, 10:21:29 AM
I think this statement is based on the fact that if cryptocurrencies turn out to be a threat to financial systems in the future, governments can crack down on them and remove crypto's position as a threat. Currently they're watching from afar, because although the price is increasing, the total volume is small in comparison to the fiat going around.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fees so high? on: December 17, 2017, 10:18:43 AM
This is definitely going to have to be addressed at some point. When the transaction fees were lower, I think people were thinking that this was a feature of the bitcoin environment. If the fees increase now because bitcoin costs more and the network is congested, this is bound to create problems for most users.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Iota is going down on: December 15, 2017, 09:06:44 PM
IOTA had increased very quickly two weeks ago, so the drop now should be expected. It has taken a bit longer than I had initially expected to pick up, but hopefully we will see another push and we can finally break the $5 barrier.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin surpassed Bitcoin at this moment on: December 12, 2017, 04:27:45 PM
Litecoin has been surging like crazy within the past two days. As far as I know there was no important development which would lead the price to soar like this. Anybody have any insight on why the price is increasing like this?
147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Stabilizing At $20K on: December 11, 2017, 06:17:03 PM
I think $20K is too soon to stabilize. Honestly, I wasn't thinking that we wouldn't see $15K in 2017, now I'm thinking maybe $25K might be possible within this year. I'm thinking it's too early to talk about stabilization before $50K levels.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Announcement thread on: December 11, 2017, 06:12:17 PM
I see some saying two weeks before the sale, that time is simply not enough. You have to have some hype around your ICO so that more people can find out about it. So you have to announce some considerable time before your sale, so that you can have telegram channels and signature campaigns rolling.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin on: December 11, 2017, 06:09:38 PM
It seems to be going up very strongly these past few days. I initially thought that it would definitely fall back but it seems to be going strong for now. I'm thinking of buying some for myself, if the strong trend continues.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THOUGHT ABOUT BOUNTY CAMPAIGNS on: December 11, 2017, 06:08:30 PM
Let me rephrase- I am not trying to decide whether should I join a campaign. I am interested in hearing what you all have to say about this process and its value to the ICO. Do you think bounty campaign makes the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful ICOs?

Do you think maybe the fact that a lot of people just joining without really understanding and just promoting 5-6 ICO's at a time is actually bad for those ICO's, making them look unprofessional and "cheap"?

I think signature campaigns are required, because there are too many ICOs going on at the same time, it is very difficult to get your name out there unless you have a signature campaign. And the more tenured members have greater signatures which look very professional as well, so I think signatures making your ICO look cheap shouldn't worry you.
151  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-11] Bitcoin Becomes 2nd Most Popular Wikipedia Page on: December 11, 2017, 06:05:59 PM
No wonder, really. People are trying to get into the crypto environment, and for that, they are trying to learn as much as they can. Though I doubt whether a bitcoin article will help newbies that much, it is impossible to understand what crypto is unless you experience it first hand.
152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-13] BBC - Why 'Britcoins' may soon pay for your latte on: December 11, 2017, 06:02:59 PM
The incredibly high transaction fees are one thing, but how do you want to use bitcoin as a mode of daily payment when transactions take forever to get confirmed?

"Thanks for buying for your coffee with bitcoin, but you can't have it unless your transaction gets at least 2 confirmations, so please wait here for at least another hour."
153  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-11] Chicago Exchange crashed by Bitcoin on: December 11, 2017, 06:00:39 PM
I think this is good news. Goes on to show you how much interest there is in such an instrument. I think futures will solidify bitcoin's position as the leader of the crypto realm and grant it more legitimacy.
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to $4,000 USD this week - $10 Billion USD Held BTC's to be Liquidated on: December 10, 2017, 07:26:39 AM
Most people I know have been cashing out to let the new money in and take the coming hard fall. The amount of coins getting ready to fall on the market is going to collapse the market. People have been dumping slowly trying to prevent killing the rise as the market has been burning up. The major dumps will be next week. People will be dropping thousands and thousands at a time hoping the surge holds until they get out. Several Zionist Occupied Governments are sitting on millions of seized coins as well that they will soon monetize.

Dec2016 base to return to $4k, this is a good wash-out of the speculators, and should send off most of the day-traders packing permanently forever.

BTC will still go to $1 Million USD to but the PTB want to wash-out the idiots.

Any evidence on this? Do you have anything to base your speculation on? Just note that it reduces your credibility considerably when you throw around buzzwords like "Zionist Occupied Governments", and can present nothing to back your claims.
155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Not all campaigns earn profit? What factors determine successful campaigns on: December 10, 2017, 07:23:57 AM
You have to do some research before signing up for a signature campaign. Try to read and understand their whitepaper., so that you can gauge whether the ICO is meaningful or not. See if the creators are anonymous, or are they willing to publish their names, perhaps their LinkedIn profiles as well? See if they are active in their telegram channel. Overall openness and activity are good signs generally.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Higher demand,limited supply on: December 10, 2017, 07:19:16 AM
The value of something increases the rarer it is. If there were 450 million coins, then the price of the average coin would be devalued. So the limited supply actually pushes bitcoin's price up, which is a good thing.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ♨♨♨ Is Bitcoin A Giant Ponzi Scheme?♨♨♨ on: December 10, 2017, 07:16:29 AM
In order for a Ponzi scheme to work, you have to accumulate more and more users who are referred into the system by existing users, because the value of the entire scheme is based on the number of members in the system. Bitcoin has a certain demand and supply mechanism as well, since it's a financial instrument, but the success of cryptocurrencies is not necessarily based on the number of people in the system.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin futures trading on: December 08, 2017, 09:33:07 AM
But if a lot of huge investors start investing in bitcoin via these futures, isn't it theoretically possible that we reach a stage where whales are able to control the price via pump and dump cycles? I like futures because they increase the legitimacy of bitcoin, but they also open up the possibility of the price being controlled to a certain extent.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What causing ETH to stall as BTC amlost touched $20k? on: December 08, 2017, 05:58:02 AM
Most of the new money being dumped into Crypto is buying BTC.  As soon as this settles down the alts will start to creep back up.  If you're deep in alts right now just HODL.

But during the push towards $10K, when the btc price was increasing suddenly, the altcoins were all green as well. So back then, I was thinking bitcoin's increase was triggering an overall increased confidence in other altcoins as well. But the push towards $15K showed otherwise. Well perhaps not otherwise, but maybe there is no correlation between btc and altcoins after all?
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA - buy some more? on: December 08, 2017, 05:52:25 AM
Wait for the hot price to cool down first.

We can buy it for a cheaper price if we wait. The market may be red for altcoins but once the hype over the BTC futures trading has ended, we will see bull run for the alt coins too

The price is starting to go up once again, it's pushing the $4 threshold. Once that's past, we may expect to go past $5. So I'm thinking about buying either now, or after the price adjustment after the next push.
