141  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: May 18, 2012, 04:07:34 PM
Is it safe to remove my private and public keys from 1.0? There is no reason we would need it if we already migrated our GLBSE 1.0 account to GLBSE 2.0, is that correct?
142  Economy / Marketplace / Re: blackdtools now sells tibia gold for bitcoin on: May 18, 2012, 12:55:53 AM
was a matter of time for this to happen. Im pushing another fansite of the game to use to accept bitcoins.
143  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE prediction market launched on: May 17, 2012, 11:49:45 PM
maybe remove the GLBSE branding from the forums. People who dont use GLBSE ignore anything with it in the title.
144  Economy / Securities / Re: GBLSE mining companies data spreadsheet on: May 17, 2012, 04:51:34 PM
you should make the symbol hyperlink to the glbse asset page. In the link column you should put the link to forum thread if there is one.
145  Economy / Securities / Re: GBLSE mining companies data spreadsheet on: May 17, 2012, 02:27:10 PM
great idea to put these all down on a spread sheet.

Do you people think I should expand this to all shares and bonds?
The columns related to hash power would not make sense for other shares and bonds of course so I could either remove those columns or I could leave them empty.

Also currently the last divident payment is what it say: the last payment (in BTC). Should I change that to weighted average of all divident payments?

BTW there a few script running behind the spreadsheet that autoupdate some of the values. Soon I hope to make it almost self-updating.
If you did this for other bonds I would rather see it on spread sheet.

Is there a guide on how to set up 2 factor auth? I dont want to screw it up and be locked out of my own account. the google auth app doesnt have any directions.
147  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: May 16, 2012, 01:47:39 PM
Sorry if the answer for this is out here somewhere already.

Is there a referral program for GLBSE yet?
no
148  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE switching DNS servers, may cause issues on: May 15, 2012, 05:23:46 PM
3. google auth can be done with a phone app, yubikey is a usb.

4. I wouldn't have a problem with a mandatory 1hour(personally I wouldnt even mind 24hrs) wait time on all withdrawals before they get processed. Its maybe a little annoying to some people but it may turn out to be just enough time to prevent massive thief. I think it would be better to be a site wide feature rather than account based.

3. How is a Yubikey more secure than Google Auth? Both require physical possession of the device you own and both are extremely unlikely to get hacked. The latter is just cheaper and more convenient.

4. 1 hour I could tolerate, but I doubt it would be enough to prevent thievery; Nefario can't individually process each withdrawal, and a lot of BTC is transferred in and out of GLBSE daily. 24 hours would do more, but it would be an extreme inconvenience to people who need to move funds around quickly.
I didnt say either was more secure. Im not sure what you read, all I did was point out one was on a phone the other a usb. It appeared sukrim said yubikey was on a phone and its not so I was clearing that up. Although there is a yubikey app im not sure how it works I think you still need the yubikey usb and you can then add it to a phone.

If nerfario was awake it might be enough time to shut everything down and cancel pending transitions. Think about bitcoincia zhoutong was awake and was able to react quickly to prevent further damage. I didnt say he should individually process each transaction. Make them wait in limbo for an hour before they are processed automatically. I know it wouldnt help if the private keys got stolen but it is still another hurtle at least in the way of hacked accounts.
149  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin Reminder Band on: May 15, 2012, 01:49:57 PM
The external artwork is a bit more cryptic, but I'm sure most of you will figure out any subtle meanings.
it looks like 0s and 1s?

how wide is it? In my mind im picturing it the same size as the live strong bands
150  Economy / Goods / Re: [Bounty] Update: 100BTC for 2 Working Crow Vending Machines on: May 15, 2012, 01:47:10 PM
Wow you are really serious about this! I might draw out some prototypes to see how difficult it would be. Another issue is placing the device in an area where it will be used by crows, but not invaded by all other sorts of creatures. How does the device differentiate between a crow and a hawk, or say a crow and a squirrel? You could solve the squirrel problem with a weight gauge, but what about a hawk of comparable size? Smaller birds?
necessary waste during the first 3 stages. During the 4th stage if an animal isnt smart enough to drop a coin in the slot he wont get a peanut, eventually those animals who cant figure it out would stop coming by.

An area away from humans is more important. If people are constantly walking by it and touching it less animals will drop by.
151  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE switching DNS servers, may cause issues on: May 15, 2012, 01:40:27 PM
1. The ability to require a different password(s) than the login to make change email, trades or withdraw bitcoins, etc.

2. With changes discussed in #1 add the ability to require a transaction PIN code which is sent via email.

3. Perhaps offer a YubiKey option. But being fairly minimalist and one who travels often I do not want another little piece of physical crap to deal with and possibly lose.

4. The ability to 'freeze' an account for a specified amount of time. Or an ability to require a BTC withdrawal to take X amount of time before it is submitted to the network during which it could be canceled.

Just some things that could add enough friction to make it not worth a thief's time and reduce the potential profitability from messing with GLBSE accounts.
1. As long as one can read the API key, one could empty an account much faster anyways. Also if an email account is compromised too (as it is often the case), these passwords would just get reset/changed.

2. Email is not secure at all.

3. It requires a mobile phone afaik...

4. Great, and who decides that an account can/should be frozen? Account owner can be the "hacker", GLBSE would disrupt trading, GLBSE on request of account owner would mean the request could be forged. The delaying payouts thing can also be used to grief account holders... and if it can be changed later, it will be - or it will create lots of support requests if it can't.
3. google auth can be done with a phone app, yubikey is a usb.

4. I wouldn't have a problem with a mandatory 1hour(personally I wouldnt even mind 24hrs) wait time on all withdrawals before they get processed. Its maybe a little annoying to some people but it may turn out to be just enough time to prevent massive theif. I think it would be better to be a site wide feature rather than account based.
152  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB Crow Vending Machine for 40BTC on: May 15, 2012, 12:09:20 AM
Hmmm, well seems like this project may be harder than I initially thought.

Alternatively, if someone can create a working prototype and record a video of a crow successfully exchanging a coin for a peanut, I'll send them 20BTC. Please include your username and "bitcointalk" on a sign in the video, just to be sure its actually you.

My previous offer still stands (after seeing the good video, I'll buy it for an additional 40BTC).  I would like you to include plans.
it would take a while for the crows to become a custom to this. Id say more then a years worth of time to go through all 4 stages. IF you want a machine with just the last stage thats not so difficult.

156  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] 2,500 PPT.D Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: May 13, 2012, 04:39:10 PM
I wasn't aware of this, so we get 1.28 less 0.5% fee = 1.216 so the shares are never worth more than this in effect & don't actually return 1.28 net - maybe I missed something in the OP offer or the fee structure has changed since then, or I'm mistaken, but would like to know for sure, thanks
I think your numbers are a little off but I completely agree.
1.28 less 0.5% fee = 1.2736. I think you dropped a zero when doing the math by mistake.
157  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] 2,500 PPT.D Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: May 13, 2012, 04:36:18 PM
No, the asset issuer will be using buyback functionality which will allow them to buy back all outstanding bonds (whether they have been put up on the market or not) and the sellers will pay the 0.5% trade fee.
why would the sellers(bond owner) get the 0.5% fee? Actually I was hoping for no fee on a forced by back especially to the seller especially if we put the bonds up for sale at 1.28? the seller would then be within the maker/taker rule.
158  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: FPGA comparison (includes ROI and $/day) on: May 13, 2012, 04:18:34 PM
Is this all assuming a stagnant difficulty?  Huh

some things are note factored in such as change in difficulty

is that "not" factored in, or "noted"

EDIT: If you want a more accurate estimate, you should assume a constant increase and do a step integral like I did here, it makes a BIG difference when you look at long term returns.   Wink

yup stagnant difficultly right now. I went with stagnant because the difficultly is not always increasing. difficultly still hasn't pasted 2MIL ever so it might be better to set the difficultly to a steady 2MIL which would low ball your income but maybe give you a nicer estimate. Another reason price of BTC is not set by the difficultly but some people suggest there is a correlation and that the price lags but follows the difficultly which would off set the need to have a changing difficulty(hasnt really been true lately).

I suppose I could make it configurable. Ill add that and leave it at 0% but if someone wants they could change that number to anything they wish.

thanks fixed the typo "not"
159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2 GB Free Backup Storage ! on: May 13, 2012, 03:36:36 PM
When I first saw this I though great do we need another cloud service. After looking over your site a little and what you offer I like it. I was impressed to you already have a desktop app(hopefully its supported on XP,win7,win8, OSX, linux in the future?). Do you plan on creating and IOS/andriod app or will you only be able to access files or will it only be browser based for those devices?

Well, SkyDrive dropped their storage from 25 GB to 7 GB for new accounts, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/skydrive/compare
because of the sudden rush (number of signups) they had as Google Drive offered only 5 GB while they offered 25 GB

and as I said above, We will look into upgrading the storage provided overtime depending on the demand  Smiley
From what I read on there blog it seemed like they dropped it down because > 99% of people didnt utilize more then 7 GB worth of space.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/04/23/the-next-chapter-for-skydrive-personal-cloud-storage-for-windows-available-anywhere.aspx

well for now ill be sticking to skydrive still have the free 25GB which is more then enough. At least your competitive and Its great that you accept bitcoins.
160  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: FPGA comparison (includes ROI and $/day) on: May 13, 2012, 03:20:04 PM
Nitpick:  ROI stands for "return on investment" and is the percent difference between the return and cost basis of an investment.  You mean "break-even".
done. changed it to break even date.

May've made more sense to use the most recent batch of Icarus boards to be produced/sold rather than older versions.

~18.5-19W consumption, $480 shipped with adapter, 380MH/s, not sure why you'd include cost of a dev kit. /fanboi
Not sure why I included the dev kit, removed now. I was debating about using that price of $480. I ended up using the original price because the last sale was a large batch comprised of several people. I updated it now to use the price from the most recent batch.

I changed the % income a day to % income a month which is a value people are more use to seeing.
