142  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: November 06, 2013, 01:36:44 AM
add another to the list of refunds!  just got this today!  created the paypal refund request on Oct 4, 2013, and got the refund Oct 16, 2013.  will be sending a tip to OP.  to those who want a refund through paypal this is how i got mine.

1. enter a dispute online
2. after it gets rejected for the "out of 45 day" time period
3. log into your paypal acct and go to resolution center and write down your case (change the view to all cases)
4. click contact us at the bottom of page
5. click call us on the right side of the page (should give you a phone number (probably 888-221-1161) with a one-time code
6. call it and enter your code when it asks you
7. say case resolution
8. say no (to ebay purchase)
9. say existing
10. say yes and enter the dispute/claim ID.
11. when they give you the status of the claim say agent.
12. when the agent comes on the line tell him the deal with BFL (fraud, pre-orders, wont let you cancel pre-order, wont refund, cant give you a date when your item will ship, etc).  tell them to look at this company's history of complaints and refunds from paypal.  ask them to process a refund.  they issued me a new case ID for this.
13. wait the 10 days and when BFL doesnt respond to them (cause they wont) call paypal back and go through the same deal as above and get an agent on the line.
14. they will review and close the case and refund you.

It's not likely to catch many people's attention. This works well for ASICs because the barrier to entry is impossibly high, and the people that organize these "buys" can usually get a deal that will actually deliver something resembling an ROI. With scrypt mining, the barrier to entry is usually around $130 to get a GPU that earns a dollar fifty a day.

Thank you for the feedback. I was thinking people would not want to go through the effort of maintaining and setting up this level of mine. Do you think the ROI is high enough for a mine like this. I feel like this would be the only profitable type of mine today.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALTMINES- An Altcoin Mining Contract on: October 30, 2013, 02:29:10 PM
Is there any interest, feedback or criticism to this idea?
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALTMINES- An Altcoin Mining Contract on: October 29, 2013, 07:23:55 PM
Each contract's mining power will come from part of the four Radeon HD 7790 mining for ALTMines.

3.   The mining contract pays the equivalent of income from a 5,000 kh/s mining machine divided by 4,000 shares

How do you get 5 Mhash from four 7790's ?

Sorry that was a typo it should be four 7990's.

Each card averages around 1250 kh's according to
https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison.

Sorry for that,

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALTMINES- An Altcoin Mining Contract on: October 29, 2013, 06:46:18 PM
The contract pays a dividend equivalent to minimum 1.25 kilahashes per second (kh/s) of mining power.

That's very unspecific. What kind of hash are you talking about?

This has been changed in the contract. The contract has been updated and the link to a spreadsheet containing the estimated ROI over a 2 year period has been added.

Overview
ALTMines is a mining contract backed by physical hardware. Each contract pays a dividend equivalent to a scrypt hashrate of 1.83(kh/s) of mining power. Each contract's mining power will come from part of the six Radeon HD 7990 mining for ALTMines.

In summary, however, please note the following:
1.   This is a mining contract
2.   The mining contract is perpetual, which means it will continue to generate dividend until terminated following one of the below conditions. The contract termination date is exactly two years from the release of these contracts.
3.   The mining contract pays the equivalent of income from a 7,500 kh/s mining machine divided by 4,100 shares. This number is then divided by a 15% electricity fee and 5% management fee. Any excess payments not explicitly stated in this contract are solely at the discretion of the operator and should not be expected.

A total of 4,100 public contracts will be issued with a value of one USD per contract.
Each contract is entitled to all output of the mining operation divided by the number of issued contracts.

In case funds from the surplus mining capacity is not sufficient to cover expenses, the operator will cover additional cost until such a time as the surplus mining capacity is again sufficient or the mining operation closes as per the terms of this contract.

Changes to Contract
Changes that do not work in favor of existing contracts may be implemented only if the changes are accompanied by an offer to buy back contracts at the terms specified in this contract.

Operation and Buyback
The mine will operate for two years and will pay weekly dividends
There exists provisions to close the contracts for one of the following reasons before the two year period is over
1.   The overhead of operating the contracts becomes greater than its profits
2.   Permanent and irreparable damage to hardware

If the contract must close for any of the above reasons, the operator or a duly appointed representative, in case the operator is permanently unavailable, can buy back contracts at no less than 110% or $1.10. In any case of permanent and irreparable damage to hardware, the operator will pursue any means available to replace hardware as quickly as possible at no cost to contract holders. However, if replacement hardware cannot be obtained at reasonable costs, the operator may choose to suspend operation and dividends and start liquidation of the contract as explained above.

Caveats
Please be aware of the following before investing:
Mining contracts are not shares, they are effectively contracts where the mining operator mines the most profitable altcoins on your behalf, to be rewarded in dividends based on mining power.

Feedback is appreciated.
149  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: October 07, 2013, 08:20:07 PM
After multiple paypal calls, I personally do no think It will be possible to receive a refund from them. I have been and still am working with a manager to resolve this problem and receive a refund. I have mentioned that fact that they have been selling physical goods on a pre-order basis (for delivery later than 20 days) against Paypals terms of service and am asking for a refund. I also mentioned that I request a refund from BF Labs Inc I was refused saying "all orders are final" even though I have still not received delivery of my orders.

Any other help for my call with her tomorrow would be appreciated.

What could I do with 11 btc? How long would it take to make up the initial cost of $90.00?

Thanks,
jpmi1

Hi JP Smiley,
This really depends on a lot of factors; from back testing it should take you a relatively short period of time, several weeks to make back 10% (90 USD) but you have to keep in mind that the math behind EMA works best when profit is measured over longer periods of time. So to answer your question more fully, with 11 BTC you should make back 10% pretty quickly, but then again, there are no guarantees in live market trading. What I can tell you is that the longer you use EMA trading for correctly, the more likely you are to profit.

Pablo.

Thank You
I downloaded the test version. How do I find the API for mtgox?

Hi Smiley,
You should have received the Butter-Bot user manual in the demo email which gives you step by step instructions. If you have not, please PM your email address and I will send it to you. That's the easiest way for me to help you as it includes step by step instructions to set up the API as well as illustrations Smiley.

Pablo.

I now have it setup. What will happen when the 3 day free trading is over?

After 3 days your trial will expire and your bot will stop working. Feel free to download another trial key if you like, you are not limited to one.

I encourage you to keep in mind that the trial is not intended for you to judge profitability, that would take several weeks, but rather for you to get a feel for the tools the bot has to offer. Community feedback and back testing are the best indicators of profitability.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need anything Smiley.

Pablo.

Ok well I am currently trading with 0.05 btc I am guessing not much is going to happen. What can I expect with this low of funding?

I think it's because MCXfee promises an income stream, however small. It looks like 'free' money until you take a long, hard look at the numbers.

Agreed it looks around 2% annual dividend per fee at the moment.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL BTC TRADING CORP WEBSITE PARTICIPANTS

As a result of recent changes in the virtual currency regulatory environment, the btct.co and litecoinglobal.com virtual stock market websites will be closing down.  The following is our current schedule:

Approximately a week ago, both sites were closed to any new users and new asset creation was disabled.

Effective immediately, in conjunction with this release, trading will be halted, all order books cleared, and trading re-enabled.

October 7, 2013, all forms of secondary market trading will be halted on both sites.

Approximately October 31, 2013, both sites will be taken offline.  It is strongly suggested that participants take the following steps to protect all of their virtual assets:

All participants should take steps to transfer all of your BTC and LTC (and any other data you wish to keep, such as CSV trade histories) held on the sites to your personal computer or another trusted site.

All participants should make sure that their public BTC or LTC address is properly set in the Account page on the Settings tab whereby it can be shared with all issuers.

All “issuers” should have the contact information concerning their “investors”, and we ask that all “issuers” communicate with their “investors” as soon as possible as to how they will ensure that all are treated appropriately.

We regret this development. However, we want to do everything we can to minimize problems arising from this transition.  It is our goal to keep this shutdown orderly and calm.

Thank you for your participation, creativity, loyalty and sense of community over the past year.  Additional communications will follow as we work out the details.
