In stock Neptunes jumped up again from 898 to 909. More refunds? Maybe.

I've got a few preorders with alpha-t.net, a Scrypt ASIC. I'm pretty impressed with their development updates (nearly weekly), along with a forum specifically for customers with all the questions answered, as well as their transparency with their process. It's too bad more manufacturers don't do similar methods.

I'm still keeping my CA batch orders. Better than BFL, CT, HF that's for sure. How they compare to Bitmain will really be a long term question, although I think KnC hardware will run much longer and be more profitable. We'll have to analyze that one down the line.

I have a thread on when the general memberbase thinks the Neptunes are shipping, and the majority feel it's April, which would line up the latest batch during Q2.

@Offtopic individuals, you guys should really keep on topic. Let's focus on KNC (I don't care if we talk about KNC conspiracy theories, facts, or whatever), there are venues available for other discussions.

The in-stock Neptunes went from 760ish to 89x. Refunds are probably being stocked here.

Update:

All,
As we are getting closer to the launch date of Neptune. We are able to release more of the products as we are still on track. So today there are now 1000 more products in the shop. This is the second half batch two and will ship alongside the first half.
This batch will also be covered by our online hashing (Plan B), if we are late we will simply give you a choice of converting to our online hosted hashing of 3TH from our facilities if you wish to
Thanks

Neptune here, referral disclaimer Smiley

Neptunes all gone now - again.

...
I'm guessing the BBB (BeagleBoneBlack) could be a bottleneck.
...

@ 'Orama/KnC: Could sales of a Jupiter with controllerboard minus BBB be an option ?

if the beaglebone was the bottleneck I'm sure he would of said just that...
There's more (or less) to it they're not revealing.  This seems a bit smelly also.

I am really starting to wonder if they might have produced a batch of Jupiters and decided to just keep them to mine privately. Despite their 28nm competitors lack of delivery, the network has still managed to grow rapidly and there is an obvious demand for their already designed and successful Jupiter miner. They even told us to get some BTC ready and implied they would sell from stock instead of taking pre-orders which was followed by complete silence while somebody very steadily added a lot of hashrate to the network. If they were able to manufacture another batch of Jupiters using the proceeds from the first 2 batches they would be foolish to sell them if they believe they would turn a profit.

I think a problem we will face with any ASIC manufacture is that if they are successful with their initial pre-order > development > product launch, they will no longer need to sell them to the public and just go private at that point. It would be the smart thing to do IMO. After getting us to take all the risk on the expensive RnD they can then build their own farms for a fraction of the price/risk...

I hope I'm wrong!

Orama might correct me if I am wrong, but I believe KnC had an internal sale for 3500$ per Jupiter. I'm not sure how much they sold, but I would imagine it could be a lot!

damnit knc, why did you have to remove ports 5 & 6 from the Nov Jups.  Sad

Some of the Oct Jupiters were shipped with only 4 ports as well. Not really fair for those that planned to upgrade them.

And the latest batch is sold out!
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 16, 2014, 06:29:57 AM
No way KNC would sell the Jupiters for under 2k. At 2k, that is less $/GH than the customer appreciation Neptune batch, with an earlier delivery date.

My projection is they would sell it at around 4-4.5k, unless there were significant upgrades to merit a 5k price tag again. Either way, they would sell out very fast.

With network projections, we can probably safely assume that KNC manufacturers well over 1500 instead of the 1200 readily sold in each batch. You can calculate around 10% maximum additional units in referrals, with at least 5% being mined by the company. I'm sure the staff (either at the very top or a general policy) have access to employee units, so I'd say around 1500 per batch would be accurate, if not more.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 11, 2014, 05:28:19 PM
It's difficult to always project difficulty out. When I project it out, I generally do the worst case scenario.

With 30% difficulty jumps, with 10% lower difficulty per jump, an early July delivery Neptune that has a total cost of 11000 USD @ 0.15kWh, will still be profitable in 2014 (although just barely), at a 750 Bitcoin valuation. These are not small jumps at all and I would consider it the worst case scenario (first jump is 400m, 450m, 500m, ect)

@Avenger, I do agree that buying and holding has been historically better. I believe most individuals that purchased various hardware in BTC would today have opted to buy and hold. Any Day 1 / Day 2 owners that can comment how much their units have generated to date in BTC? Let us know what device and average GH is as well. It is possible that you could have mined enough, and sold your coins and miners when it was at an ATH to earn 70k+ off a single miner. I think we're approaching that point where an original BTC investment may pay off. Of course, a year down the line, we may look at today very differently - that's what I love about this ride.

Phoenix (and anyone else with the HW issues)

Try eligius' secondary pool, it seemed to have clean up my flushwork issues.

v2.srv.eligius.st:12234

Overall HW is down, WU is up about 2%.

3 hours and running, the 6 module jupiter is pushing 99.7% of rated hashrate to the pool (838/840)

Wow. This just made a huge difference. Thank you!

I've been running on BTC Guild since October and have a consistent %99.7.  What were you getting previously?

I was getting around 800-810 prior, 95.8% roughly. Every few GHs counts long term - glad it helped some of you Smiley
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 06, 2014, 06:53:44 AM
Any plans to release a 1.5TH version of the Neptune that could run on a single circuit in North American households ?

I doubt they will deviate from their plans.

However, I would anticipate you may be able to remove one (or more) of the Neptune modules if it was based on the Jupiter design.

Is there any reason why the secondary eligius pool behave differently? Do they have different backend/algorythm?

Good question. Flushworks still occur per usual, but I don't notice such a dramatic increase in the HW errors when it does occur versus the primary one.

Does anyone notice that their miners generally runs better until the first flushwork?

I get around 1% HW errors, and after a flushwork occurs, it shoots up to 3-4%. The HW ticker goes from 1-7 a jump to upwards of 50 a jump.
155  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / KnC Neptune Shipping Speculation (Existing Customers Order) on: December 25, 2013, 05:20:36 AM
This poll is a general survey of when the community believes the majority of the existing customer's batch will ship.

KnC's Network Protection Statement put shipping in March of 2014, will they pull it off?

I believe the majority of machines will be in customer's hands early to mid April, with the subsequent batches 3-4 weeks out (First public batch Mid May, Second public batch mid June)

Another thing - Wish KNC had Saturday delivery available/readily offered. I know it's an extra 15$ for UPS Saturday Delivery, but 2 days of extra hashing is definitely worth it.
That's a VERY good point.

+1

All three of my Jupiters could have been delivered on a Saturday instead of Monday. That's a lot of lost hashes Tongue

I also have two Jupiters that arrived on Monday, and would have gladly payed the extra $30 for Saturday delivery.

Do you have a UPS account?

Maybe you can rework the delivery.

I do - I've chatted and called UPS, they cite that unless the shipper, shipped it as Saturday delivery,  they could only release the package from the local hub on Monday.

That's a lot of lost hashes for individuals.

I'll talk to my UPS contact to see if anything can be done, but it's unlikely. This is an rma for a rma (2/6 rma'd chips had die 0 issue)

Hopefully they'll take the feedback and provide superior service next generation.  (Orama!!) Smiley

Figured I'd follow up on my original post about my extended Jupiter (4+2 upgrade modules)

KNC authorized an RMA, and shipped my order back the same day they received it. The boards I got looked completely new, along with the control board. UPS delayed the shipment by 2 days (on an overnight AM delivery), but that's not on KNC.

Some things that I would like to see KNC do in the future:

Provide shipping labels.
Cross ship defective items. Take market value BTC to hold until defective parts come in. Those few days are huge.
Compensate for lost hashing power. Either offer customers direct BTC compensation for lost time, or include some sort of module/credit freebie.
Early morning delivery times instead of evening saver. A 10 AM delivery is much better than 6 PM.
Provide faster updates (I had to email them to receive the tracking number they shipped out) This includes better communication about orders going out and R&D.

I'm happily hashing around 841 on Putty right now. KnC might not be perfect, the delays sucked - but would you rather have preordered with Hashfast or BFL? Anyone else? Time will ultimately tell who was the best investment. Right now, today, I am very happy that I preordered with KNC and not anyone else.

That said, I've got a nice chunk of Neptunes on order. Here's to them spearheading the next generation.

To follow up on my original post here, after some hashing time 2 of the ASIC boards have developed die 0 issues. I can revive one of them by constantly pumping voltage into it, but the other one I can't do anything to get it up and running. KNC offered the standard warranty service, although this time they are offering to cover the shipping.

I wonder if KNC will do anything above and beyond the normal, it is unfortunate and disheartening to have so many issues, even on seemingly new boards they shipped out.
