141  Economy / Economics / Re: How justified will it be to use a blockchain without a cryptocurrency? on: February 18, 2018, 09:45:45 PM
Blockchain is a very simple idea (well, relatively), but with an huge potential of development.
We'll see applications in real estate, medical background, commercial transactions, any kind of public archive...
And - if it really remains decentralized - it will be the biggest revolution humanity has ever seen...
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is new way to get Free money? on: February 18, 2018, 09:40:06 PM
I agree, it's not true that all ICOs are scams, it would be a stupid - and false - generalization.

But it's true that cryptomarket now is a far west, where a lot of people without any competence try to pump in.
So, you see a lot of ICO that clearly doesn't have any chance to succeed.
May be they are not intentional scams, but they are very poor projected and very bad managed.

So, we need to make a very deep analysis before to put our money into them.

I am really surprised with the comments of this thread. Most of the ppl are saying that ICOs are a scam while they are advertising ICO through their profile. Wink
Many of them are true and few are scams you can easily find out a scam ICO.
OMG, NEO, IOTA were ICOs of 2017 who make many investors rich. ICOs are good to invest but research is recommended.

143  Economy / Economics / Re: Can you start from zero cash and make a living with the opportunities in crypto? on: February 18, 2018, 09:21:01 PM
Of course it's possible, and - if you are good and work hard - you can much more than a living.
There are plenty of people here that started form zero. Not all of them are millionaires, but a good number reached a satisfactory level of life.
So... good luck!
144  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage ur emotions? on: February 18, 2018, 09:09:32 PM
Well, we need to understand and accept that we are human, and a part of to be human is to feel emotions. That's it.
It would be a long discussion about the utility of emotions, but the idea is that they exist to protect us in life or death situations.

So, when we are just making some crypto transactions, we are not really in "danger", but - facing a loss - the brain doesn't know it and reacts as it was under a tiger attack!

Of course this can be very disturbing, and - much more - it may lead us to make rash decisions, so it's mandatory to learn to keep our emotions - that are just neurological programs - under our control.

This is very possible, but requires effort and discipline.
145  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 18, 2018, 08:59:02 PM
Well, I'm frustrated as you are, because next week I'd reached the full member rank, and now I have to earn a lot of merits to achieve that result. And of course I've no idea when I'll succeed.

But... firstly, I received already a few, and some of them from "difficult" high ranks members, so... it's possible.
Then, I improved very much the quality of my posts, and this is very positive. I'm ashamed of my first ones. I'll write a specific post about this.
Much more, I understood that I'm not here to earn some cheap money just spamming the forum.

WTF! I'm here because I want to became a f...ing cryptomillionarie, not a shitpost worker.

So, after this enlightenment, suddenly all this discussion about merits and ranks becomes insignificant: if I'll receive a merit, I'll be happy just because I give a contribution and someone appreciated me. That's all.

And don't forget: the merit system has still a lot of space for improvement, but - like it or not - it stopped the tsunami of shitpost.
Of course now the situation is a little stuck, but it was necessary. Now we'll see how can we make it better.

First, just to clear the air (if anyone will actually read this) I am biased because I don't feel I can personally rank up anymore. So, take this with a grain of salt.

My thoughts:

I know the merit is new, and I really like the concept because BitcoinTalk.org is a core part of the community and needs to be protected, but based on the evidence, I don't see this working as planned. Rather, it appears to be simply a caste system where the current ranked people have now just hard coded their levels and almost no one else will be ranking up from this point forward.

I don't have access to the actual data so I just have to go with my observations. But I would LOVE to see the ranking growth rates since the Merit system was implemented. Probably went from some rapidly growing rate to near zero. Was that the goal? To turn off leveling up? I bet that's what happened.

Here are my limited observations:

1) Merit does not appear to be moving from the haves to the have nots.

-This means we have a liquidity problem

2) Where Merit has moved, it appears to be too infrequent to work as intended, where better posters would be moving up in rank.

-Easy to confirm, just scan the latest threads you are reading and see how many people are still sitting at a round number of Merit (e.g., 10, 100, 250, etc). It's just about everyone. Again, I would love to see a % of accounts that now have anything other than a round number of Merit.

3) Where Merit has moved, it's very hard for the public to know why, who gave it, and for what posting, which leads me to believe, most of the movement has been from people who control several accounts. As a member of the blockchain community (ignore my 'creation account date' I've been in crypto since 2013) we are supposed to be about transparency and accountability.

-For those without a round number of Merit, they appear to have earned just 1 to 4 added points, and again, a scan of their recent posts do not yield anything more impressive than other people's posts (in my opinion). But the lack of transparency will lead to suspicion in this community, as it has done with me. That's just how we roll!

-I realize there is some public tracking going on, but it's not easy to find and therefore doesn't actually work as transparent (IMHO)

4) While BitcoinTalk is flooded with spammers and multiple accounts (and I completely agree that is a problem) under the new system, ranking up has become virtually impossible and will no longer reward activity. While spam is a problem, I believe a new problem will emerge, a lack of interest in posting on this site which will lead to degradation of utility.

-I've worked  in many settings where leaders considered cutting some requirement (like how under the old rules, simply posting got your rank on this site). They wanted to cut the requirement because it seemed extra, unhelpful. But I argued against cutting it because although it was not helpful directly for the intended purpose, removing it would very likely lead to a situation where performance would decline and then this seemingly unhelpful requirement would actually once again become useful. I know I'm leaving out detail here, but think of it like an ecosystem. Some would say "who cares if species XYZ goes extinct" until years later they realize that caused a chain reaction that killed off an entire jungle.

Problems and complaints, that's not very helpful. So how about a solution?

I prefer small changes, so what if Merit was no longer tied to ranking up, but the activity level requirements doubled or tripled. Or what if some small amount of Merit was required to level up. Like, people had to earn at least 1 Merit point before moving each rank level. AND, I would recommend you grant people more sMerit to solve the liquidity problem.

To summarize: the Merit change, appears to not be meeting the stated indented goals, and I would urge the leadership of this site to consider an alternative before significant damage is caused to a key institution of the crypt world...this site.
146  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 18, 2018, 08:40:42 PM
Well, it's simple math: if you write ten wonderful posts every day, and ALL of them receive ten merits, you will need only 400 years to achieve 15 millions merits. Well... good luck! :-)

I wonder who the first one to 15 million merits will be  Wink

I like this change a lot Cheesy. Hopefully we'll see an increase in post quality  Cool

15 million merits is not possible in one lifetime now. Regarding posting quality, I cannot comment about all members but have seen some exceptional posts be new members. Merit system is a good motivation for everyone here.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty Rewards: Sell immediately or HODL? on: February 18, 2018, 08:32:12 PM
If you make a campaign and you sell immediately the small reward you receive, it means that you didn't understand the spirit of the bounty (or that you are so desperate that a so little sum can save your life...)

You need to imply in a bounty non just to obtain some cheap money, but because you believe in the project and you support it with your work, so you keep what you received and -  if you have chosen wisely - in the future you will have a big reward.

148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What project is scam? on: February 18, 2018, 08:06:07 PM
Most of ICO promoters are now very skilled in making their product to appear very attractive, and I suspect they put much more effort on marketing that in the creation of a solid background.

So, it's more and more difficult to evaluate the potential of an ICO. Btw, with just a little attention, you can avoid the most obvious scams.
And with a little attention more, you can identify the probably winners.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do u follow what politicians say about cryptocurrency? on: February 18, 2018, 08:01:54 PM
To listen to politicians can be very irritating, but - if you want to know in which direction the market will move - you have to tolerate the pain.

Of course they say a lot of bullshits, and most of their declarations are completely false; but these declarations will move the market, so it's mandatory to know them, and to try to understand the effect they will have on the market, to take the right decisions.
150  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: February 18, 2018, 07:52:20 PM
Most people don't understand that governments would like to ban paper money more than bitcoin!
All the reasons to ban bitcoin (it's untraceable, you can finance terrorism, you can make money laundering, ecc) is true also - and much more - for paper money.
So, even if they can't ban it directly, they try to convince the population to use electronic money, and - as someone already said - in Swedish in a lot of shops you can pay only with credit cards.
(btw, even in US if you pay much more than some hundreds dollars in cash, you become suspect)

So, in short time probably paper money will disappear, replaced by some kind of electronic money.

So, the real question it: this new money will be decentralized (freedom) or centralized(slavery)?

We'll see, but it's up to us to give a contribution to the war. It will be a bloody one.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can world Government Kill Crypto? on: February 18, 2018, 06:04:07 PM
I agree, but I think this will happen in just two steps: before they will make illegal bitcoin with some pretexts, and so you can bet that the vast majority of population won't use it.
Then, they'll propose a kind of "official coin" - of course fully centralized - claiming that it's the "true and safe cryptocurrency".

Btw, if bitcoin will become more accepted, it will be very difficult for a government to ban it without to provoke a strong reaction of population.
It will be a bloody war, we'll see what will happen.

Governments can try to kill crypto, but it's impossible to control the blockchain, due to its decentralization: even if a country ban bitcoin, you can always use them online.
Of course, if all governments will really start a war against bitcoin, it could become dangerous to use them.
But I think that the only aim of any government is just to tax cryptocurrencies, not to kill them.
152  Economy / Economics / Re: Positive thinking brings positive things. on: February 18, 2018, 05:46:24 PM
I don't think it's a good idea to use in business and in trading the usual "believe and achieve" approach form "The Secret".
You can think all the positive you want, but if you don't take the right decisions it's very unlikely that you will "create a reality" where the market will adapt to your wishes...
So, it's ok have a positive attitude, but keep your feet on the ground and don't forget that the "law of cause/effect" is much stronger than the "law of attraction"
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Half of the world job applicants are lying on their resumes on: February 18, 2018, 05:11:47 PM
There are a lot of potential applications of the blockchain, and we just start to glimpse them.

To put the whole school and professional history on the blockchain could seem an interesting idea, but it sounds to me too similar to Gestapo or KBG files.

Btw,I think that at present there would be too many difficulties to implement it, so I don't see any reason to be worried.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in altcoin still worth? on: February 18, 2018, 05:03:05 PM
Of course it worth, the real problem is to identify the right ones.
There is a so big offer that it's very difficult to make a decent analysis of all the aspects, and lot of ICO manager now know how to make a very attractive presentation even if nothing solid exist behind it.
Btw, most of the scams/bad projects are easy to detect, so you can focus on the remaining ones and - with a little luck - to make a good choice.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC of bounty hunters on: February 18, 2018, 04:56:59 PM
Perhaps I am excessively prudent and paranoid, but in no case I send my data to an unknown entity: who know who is behind them?
Who knows how your data will be used?
Do you have any idea what bad guys can do in the black web with your passport and you personal data?
And, last but not least, they'll connect your personal data to your bitcoinintalk account, and this is another very unpleasant thing.
May be when we'll have a kind of control of the crypto market, I could accept.
For the moment, I rest my case.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you even read whitepaper bro? on: February 18, 2018, 04:49:35 PM
I don't understand how can be doubts about this point: I mean, you are ready to put your money somewhere without taking the time to look at least at some basic information?
Of course a whitepaper can be deceitful, but it's a starting point. And you can easily detect the most evident scams.

It seems that the only strategy that some people have is "hope".
157  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: February 18, 2018, 04:42:13 PM
It depends: if you are not a trader and you just bought some cryptocurrencies just to make an investment, actually it's better to hold, over all if you don't have any background in trading; but if you are a day trader, of course you have to sell and to buy all the time, just to profit of daily fluctuations.
(and with a so high volatility, you really have the opportunity to make big profits.
And big losses, of course!

159  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day Trading strategies and tools on: February 11, 2018, 09:40:33 PM
No, no, no,... if you ask this kind of questions, it's better that you keep safe your money somewhere.

In forex there is the so called "rule of 90": 90% of the traders lose 90% of money in the first 90 days...

And - please note - forex is a more stable and easy market than crypto, that is completely crazy.

Trading in crypto can be very profitable, but daytrading is an extremely high demanding activity, and for a beginner it will almost certainly end in a bloodbath.

So, study a lot, make somewhere a demo account, work for a while with an experienced trader, and only then try to put your money on the table.

Hi Fellows,

Just thinking to start day trading , need guidance from all you plz tell

3) what are your daily target for profit.
4) any BOT you are using for day trading
5) Websites or apps to get latest news
6) how will you handle the losses
7) How many coins are you using for day trading
Cool which day time is best to buy and then sell
9) Currently which coins are you using for day trading
160  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie should trade or not? Please give me idea. on: February 11, 2018, 09:02:37 PM
If you don't start, you will be a newbie forever! To learn from book is good, but to learn to trade is like to learn riding a bike: until you try - and you accept the falls - you won't learn.
Of course, if you do it under the guidance of an expert, falls are less painful... :-)
Good luck!
