761 i a newer version of Avalon 7 series i think.
20 dec will informations come out for A8 update.
Agreed
|
|
|
The 761 is old? I thought it hasn't even come out yet and it is replacing the 741. They are also coming out with a 8xx in addition to replacing the 741 with the 761. Just trying to make sure we aren't spreading incorrect info

Now we have scammers calling other members scammers. This is out of control.

No problem I'm glad I could help.
I'm happy i am very detailed because that was a really tricky move. Even though I really didn't think crypto universe would just message me saying they had miners. Plus they said 741s are EOL and not being made anymore
|
|
|
Makes sense. The 761 does show a higher field tested TH/S up to 9.5.
Also I see that all of their miners are rated between 50-60db. Alot less than the competition huh?
This is going to be my first miner purchase and I'm leaning towards Canaan because of reliability compared to others
Also the 761 and 8 show integrated psu so you won't have to buy new ones. Maybe they justifies higher price for 761?
Btw the reply I got to an inquiry from Canaan was similar to the one above but said the "new product" will be limited supply until March. So so more clarification that just Q1

That is hilarious. I feel like someone is just sitting there revelling in this, waiting to post 1 smidgen of Info at a time... do I tell them the power consumption, or tease them with the first digit of the hashrate. Haha,
Just excited to see some info coming out.
EDIT: I just read through it more closely, and must say I was surprised they are integrating the PSU on these units. Atleast there won't be 100 questions about power supplies, and 50 rebuys for a proper one
Did you also see that they posted the Avalon 761? It's an incremental improvement from the 741 (8.8TH/s @ 1350W vs. 7.3TH/s @ 1150W). I'm not sure the marginal gains would be worth buying the 761, but the primary factor will probably be availability of either. Not sure I'm interested in buying new PSUs to run two miners @ 2700W and I think having 1 PSU for every miner is an enormous waste of money and space. ETA: Also, I received this from Canaan this evening: Hi, Thanks for your inquiry. 1) A8 will be shipping in the first quarter 2018. We will announce all the details (include specification and price) when it is launched. Please be patient and keep focusing on our official website and social media. 2) Our minimal order quantity is 60 units. For order less than 60 units, please turn to our distributor https://canaan.io/official-distributors/. 3) If your order is over 60 units, please click the following website to fill the form. Everyone need to fill out a profile A. Profile https://[Suspicious link removed]/forms/UJBpgJlE5Vn3EMOR2 B. If you only want to mine for yourself, please fill out the form at this link Miner https://[Suspicious link removed]/forms/gXycWtJ2UqbIJsvE2 We do not accept pre-order. We will contact you when we have inventory for you. Thanks & Sincerely, Victoria I don't believe you will be able to buy any new 741s as they are EOL and it seems the 761s just replaced the 41s

Hello, I had someone message me today that had the same username as Crypto-Universe, official distributor for Canaan but didn't have the same activity level (which tipped me off). proof: https://imgur.com/a/B4sF4

have 40 unis of L3+ incl PSU shipped in the end of this month. escrow and local pickup price is 3800usd
Hey Jenia, i received your PM but i cant reply. i understand your asking price, and Im sure you will move them at that price especially with litecoin explosion over the last two days.. im going to pass for now, its so hard to figure out what to do in regards to ordering from bitmain for half the price and waiting 3 months (then also worrying about next gen coming out) or spending double retail today to get miner asap.
|
|
|
if this ends up still being available, i may be interested
|
|
|
Yeah I saw that the user sent the message to both of us
|
|
|
I can't send a pm right now since I'm only able to send 1 every hour.
Btw does that increase as my rank increases? I'm trying to be as active as possible to get my rank up.

Thank you for everyone who as replied. I have been doing a ton of research on and off for almost a few years (wish i pulled the trigger a long time ago but making the best of it now) and have been dollar cost averaging for the past 3 weeks. i feel i have diversified my portfolio well for being new including a gamble on Cardano as i feel if IOHK can delivery on their timeline it is going to be a fame changer.
Most recently I have been researching mining and looking into getting involved. I'm taking my time reading as much as i can and maybe eventually will pull the trigger. too bad there aren't more asics out like the R4 that are actually reliable..
I appreciate your insight on me explaining bitcoin to others (thanks @lisa255 for your support) but I think I'm quite articulate and understand the technology enough to EILI5 to others.
Thank you for everyones support and I'm excited to see where this journey will take me in this learning process.

Hello I was wondering if anyone has seen the coinkite cold card. i think the features are pretty awesome. looks like it is going to ship Q2 2018. i saw some posts when searching to see if anyone already posted about the cold card, about coinkite going out of business, was that just a rumor at some point? Here is the link: http://blog.opendime.com/coldcard-annoucement/Features: NO specialized software required. It looks like a hard drive, so you can drag and drop files into it. NO companion ?app? on your computer, works with the major wallets already.
It?s cheap! Simple packaging, plain design, no fancy boxes, no redundant cables.
It?s ultrasecure! Real crypto security chip. Your private key is stored in a dedicated security chip, not the main micro?s flash.
Easy back-up! MicroSD card slot for backup and data storage. This allows truly offline signing, by transferring the unsigned/signed transactions on sneakernet.
Open source software design runs Micropython and you can change it.
Other features: Full-sized numeric keypad makes entering PIN easy and quick.
Larger 128x64 OLED screen.
It?s an open platform, and we expect other ?apps? in time, like:
2FA authenticator
Sign text messages to prove control over private key.
Participate in multisig wallets, with other signers.
Encrypt/decrypt secret messages (stored on MicroSD or otherwise).
We are still deciding on the PCB color, stay tuned.
