141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 08:53:00 AM
I guess the main question that makes you increase your gambling addiction is the rush of winning. Winnings give an incredible sensation and on e a gambler tastes it he either learns to control it or it will destroy him.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is left of Bitcoin as a tool to free the financial world on: January 02, 2023, 07:05:35 PM
Day by day the bitcoin price is declining. It seems that the price these days is largely dictated by miners that constantly sell coins and investors that hope for future profits. That is also what most topics in this forum are about. What I see less and less are post about how bitcoin can be used for its intended purpose that is "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash" to send "online payments (..) directly from one party to another".
Are people even willing to still follow these idea or is bitcoin doomed to be a place for profit gamblers that will slowly loose its relevance?

I don't think you are seeing things the right way. The current price of Bitcoin is a great opportunity of the market to grow. It gives space for many newcomers to gain interest and attract even more investors. As for the miners, they have to cover for expenses. I imagine that most individual miners are just selling bitcoin just to cover for expenses and the remaining Bitcoin, they are certainly hoarding. Even though the price is declining, most believe we will still see new highs for the asset Wink
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 02, 2023, 07:01:22 PM
There are a lot of gamblers that do not even grasp the idea of having simple statistical techniques, as they simply rely on luck. And quite frankly, those are the ones who make casinos profitable. Even those gamblers who apply mathematical concepts and statistical techniques many of the times may fail, but by using those techniques, they greatly increase their chances of winning. After that, it is just a question of management. But yeah, most players are completely unaware of how to apply mathematical concepts and statistical techniques to gambling, it's true.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing the big multipliers in soccer on: January 02, 2023, 04:30:06 PM
Today i placed some single bets for 3 events, each bet was on the underdog and the draw. And would like to know if other users here like to bet that way. These were the matches:

1.-Porto vs FC Arouca
2.-Paris Saint Germain vs Strasbourg Alsace
3.-Leeds United vs Manchester City

And the multipliers from each win go from x7.6 to x23.

A lot of times I have done parlays in the past, and it fail by a game that was supposed to be an easy win, that's why I'm betting this way today. So, what do you think, will I lose the 6 bets?

I'm not too fan of multipliers. Even though there is the promises of high profits, we need to take into account that the risk also goes up exponentially. That is why I prefer to avoid multipliers and only go for them with sure bets.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 02, 2023, 12:36:10 PM
This is for newbies that many be finding it hard to understand sportsbook betting types. Read the article below which is found on www.gaming.net and www.casino.org. My hope is that it helps to increase and improve your betting knowledge.

Most betting types relate to the score of a game, but sportsbooks try to make things interesting. Players can make wagers on which team will win, the number of scored points, and the margin of victory.

  • In-play bet: Some bookmakers call it live betting, yet the concept is the same – bettors have an opportunity to make wagers while a game is active. In live betting the odds change during the match.

  • The point spread: Betting sites like to encourage action on both sides, and the point spread makes it possible to place a wager on an underdog, while they still expect them to lose. The point spread allows players to guess the numerical point separation between the teams. For example, when a team gets favored by 4.5 points, they will need to score 5 or more points to cover the spread.

  • Proposition bets: Prop betting is a relatively new option and the principle is that bettors get propositioned with a question. For example, Messi to score 2 goals, Messi to score a penalty, Messi to score a freekick

  • Over/Under bets:  The over/under bet forecasts the total score of both teams, but also the number of points scored in a half. Players select if the final score will be over or under the offered average. For example under 1.5  or over 2.5

  • Parlay: A parlay (also known as an accumulator) is a combination of multiple wagers into one single bet. Each wager, or leg, must come through for you to win a parlay. Parlays are much riskier than betting on each game individually, but you also get better odds. In addition, you can wager on more events with one stake.

Would be happy if other veteran gamblers can add any gambling type that I may have missed.

Great thread. This is very useful information for newbies who are starting their way into betting. Now, I just think you forgot about one form of betting that is also quite popular which is the Asian Handicap betting. I guess you should also consider this as many bookies offer this option as well.
Asian handicap is a form of betting that originated in Asia and is mostly used in soccer betting. It means that one team is the top dog who has an upper hand over the under dog. Asian handicaps eliminate the chance of a draw in a match, so the possible outcomes are two.

147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless Gambling, your thought? on: January 01, 2023, 07:00:21 PM
Have you ever thought of a government implementing a Cashless gambling?  Making hard cash obsolete for gambling purposes?  Armenia is currently pushing this law that force their gambler to do gambling transaction via bank[1].  It was stated that the said law is created so that the government can tax gambling institutions effectively.  They also add an additional requirement that the gambling establishment needs to pay in order to get the desired licenses on how much  bet the establishment can accept.

This may look profitable for the government but I believe it will hit hard gamblers.  With the implementation of cashless gambling, gamblers are now exposed since they have to use their credit cards or debit card to play.  (Another way of the government to spy on their citizen.)

In a positive note, minors gambling incident would greatly reduced because the gambling transaction can now be traced via bank statement, except if these minors can freely use their parent's cards.

May take on this.. screw the government if we really wanted to do cashless gambling, there is always a cryptocurrency gambling platform option where we can at least play gambling without the need to use our bank account.

So what do you think about this cashless gambling, is this another breakthrough of the gambling industry or just a way of the government to track their citizen and earn from the gambling establishment.

[1] https://www.casino.org/news/armenia-introduces-new-taxes-restrictions-on-its-gaming-industry/

Well, there is nothing new here. For years governments have been working hard to implement effective laws for the gambling industry. Today, with the advent of cryptocurrency casinos, regulatory pressure has been increasing in a way that it is almost impossible for casinos to operate without any kind of compliance

December 31 Soccer predictions

So, I would like to leave the last predictions of 2022!

England - Premier League

Brighton - Arsenal

Arsenal is the top dog for this game, however, Brighton plays with the massive support of their fans and has shown quality football. Thus, a well-disputed match is expected, where goal opportunities will appear. In front of such a scenario, I believe the most likely scenario for this match will be for both teams to score at least one goal.

Both Teams Score

Wolverhampton - Man Utd

I see Manchester United as a favourite for this match, however, the home team should also have its say. It should be noted that the market "Both teams score" was a winner in the last five Manchester United away games. In this way, a very busy game is expected with several goals opportunities for both teams

Both Teams Score

Bournemouth - Crystal Palace

It is true that Bournemouth can be more confident about playing at home, however, in this round they receive an opponent that provides amazing good football. In addition, both teams have several defensive issues. Having said that, risking in favour of the ''Above 2,5 Goals'' market in this game is a good option.

Above 2,5 goals

Man City - Everton

In addition to Manchester being motivated after the latest results obtained, it still receives a team that has shown serious flaws in the defensive process. Everton conceded a total of nine goals in the last three matches played, and, on the other hand, Manchester City has shown its offensive potential, scoring six goals in the last two games. In this way, I expect to see the occurrence of a few goals.

Above 2.5 Goals

Newcastle - Leeds

The most likely scenario for this match will be for both teams to score at least one goal. It is true that a game more controlled by the home team is expected, however, Leeds also plays good football, with a lot of offensive quality. It should be noted that the market "Both Teams Score" was a winner in Leeds' last five games, counting for the championship and in three of the last four matches between the two teams.

Both Team Score

The wheel is turning, so let's hope to see good results!

Let me hear your predictions!
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling For Fun - What Does This Mean To You? on: December 31, 2022, 11:04:59 AM
I personally think that the phrase "gambling for fun" is widely misunderstood by many gamblers.
They think gambling for fun means gambling without any interest or hunger for profit, no body enjoys loosing money, and this in the other way simply means, loosing money is never fun, but how we choose to react is what makes the difference...
I wil tell you all what gambling for fun means to me personally..

Here Is What Gambling For Fun Mean To Me
To me, gambling for fun simply means - gambling, with hopes of making profit, but with the consciousness that if the profit does not come, I choose not to react negatively to the loss, or allow the loss way me down or make me feel bad, I just focus/put/fix my mind on the fun I had playing the game rather than focus or fix my mind on the money I lost.

If gambling for fun means gambling without any need or hope of making profit, why throw away or waste my money then? I would just put the game in a demo mood and play - I believe a lot of casinos have this feature.
But like I explained above, gambling for fun for me is not gambling with no interest in making profit, in gambling for fun, I hope to make profit, but I just consciously don't make the profit a priority, this means that if at the end of the game, I make a profit, i am happy, because I hoped for it, but if I don't make profit, I am not sad, I am not unhappy, because it wasn't a priority, and for me not to feel sad, I get my mind off the money lost and focus on the fun I had playing the game - Being happy is a choice, I hope we all know this.

So over to you now, what does gambling for fun mean to you as a gambler,? As I know that this phrase might mean different things for different people, would like to know what your understanding is on this.

I always play for fun. I actually love gambling, but of course that the ulterior purpose of gambling is always to win and earn some profits as this is the best part of gambling. I'm sure no one gambles just for the sake of fun and not having the urge to win in the back of their mind. So, to me, gambling for fun always comes with the final purpose of winning.
151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 30, 2022, 06:31:12 PM
But what I do understand by gambling for fun is that, you gamble with hopes of making some profit, but if the profit doesnt come, it's not an issue, on like gambling for profit, and when it doesn't come, the gambler breaks down in regret.

That's the real meaning of gambling for fun, it is when we can enjoy the game and we can accept loses at the same time.
It is bullshit if there is someone who gamble 100% for fun only without thinking about making profit.
Gambling is designed for people to risk their money for taking the chance to make profit but it is also designed as entertainment tool.

I think that it is the basis for all of is who are gamblers. Yep we are in it for the fun but also for the money. And when you are not earning some it can still be fun. You just have to know how to lose. Gambling is one of those activities in which you need to balance your winnings with your losses. This means that you will need to accept the losses as something normal and detach yourself from the emotional harm it brings. Once you learn to control these emotional urges, you have learned how to gamble!
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 30, 2022, 04:20:05 PM
<snip>
Gambling is really addicting. It's hard stop actually. But always try to keep yourself reminded that you should be discipline. Set boundaries. Do whatever method that can help you not to be too attached from playing. Gambling can take away your not just your money, but also your other time for other things that you also must give attention. Because of that, gamble in moderation. If you lose, it's normal to be affected, but before you play, make sure that you are well aware and you accept what and how much you can possibly lose.

Yep, apart from making you lose a lot of money, gambling can be extremmely time consuming and this will make you forget other more important things such as spending time with your family as well as time to rest. Additionally, the stress of losing a lot of money that you cannot afford to lose can also drive you mad and increase the chances of mental illness.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 30, 2022, 02:57:52 PM
To know how to limit your gambling activity by yourself and to know your own limits is the ideal, but not everyone is at this emotional and mental stage yet, so they need third party tools in order to help them keep their impulses under control.

I have to agree with this.

Others think that a self-exclusion program is not really needed but they didn't really know and understand the feeling of being close to becoming addicted. These persons where level of addiction is now being noticed really need some help in order to at least, try to take the momentum back to themselves.

If others think that self-exclusion is not necessary, be thankful as that proves that you are still in yourself and far from falling into a gambling trap.

Having third party features that can be integrated onto casinos that can grant gamblers additional security when it comes to fighting addiction and wrekless behavior would be an amazing idea. It is also something that can work out in terms of business model.

Any of you guys uses the responsible gambling feature? If so, what do you think about it? Is it helpful or does it only gives you a sense of control

this responsible gambling feature is very helpful to prevent those who want to deposit money into their account after losing in a row .. this of course will help players to be able to control their money and prevent them from spending too much of their money .. this feature itself has started to be implemented at several online casinos in Australia and is very effective in preventing players from using too much of their money in games

Yeah, I actually find the feature extremmely useful as ot prevents you to get out of control and immediatelly recharhe your account after a real hard bad beat. That is basically when you feel frustrated for losing hard and in the back of your mind you believe that it is perfectly possible to recover all the money  lost in a coupple of plays. Well, this is terribly wrong and this feature is perfect to help you avoid going down that road.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 29, 2022, 06:20:18 PM
I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

I am not addicted to gambling. I play games casually every once in a while and that’s it. I gamble mostly to pass the time and see if I am lucky. I don’t really have that crazy idea of getting rich from gambling because it is a terrible thought which can make you lose everything you got.

Gamblers should be reasonable and have realistic expectations from the bets they make. Being greedy is the worst mistake you can make when you are gambling.

That is actually true. Most gamblers are just in it for the money and they do not have any relistic approach to what the risks they taking in relation to what they can potentially earn. And even worst, mos do not even have a proved technique and are just betting on a chase of profits that are off hand. Yes it is true, greed is the first mistake of a gambler.

I don't gamble that much but I do know that most times when I do, I gamble just because I want to entertain myself but I always do it when I'm looking for a way to earn some cash ( but in rare occasions though). The maximum I've ever gambled was ~$50, I know it's small but I do that so as not to get addicted to it and I believe that ones I become addicted to it that fun vibes will no longer be there.

I guess that is one of the major mistakes people do around gambling. To gamble as a way of getting additional money. I say that is wrong, as you should not rely on gambling to make money. Making money simply by gambling is not feasible as you will innevitabelly make some mistakes and lose much of your money. Although there are several techniques to stay on the profit, this is actually not a sure thing. So, if you are in need of money, just stay away from gambling.

Any of you guys uses the responsible gambling feature? If so, what do you think about it? Is it helpful or does it only gives you a sense of control
It's great to hear that it worked on you though as it's rare to see gamblers use and mention that feature. I remember having to stare at the feature a few times because i've been to that point where it got unhealthy but for me, I decided to not use it as I tried imagining what would happen after everything is in place and it felt like it won't help me much at all as I have several accounts on different casinos and it's easy to go around it. So I had to look for another solution and eventually found an effective one for me to control my gambling activity.

Yeah, I agree that it is very easy to go around the responsible gambling feature if you have an account in different casinos. Thing is, I only use around 2 casinos. One for soccer betting and another one to play poker. This way, for me it becomes easy to follow the feature. But as I said, this is a feature which is not found in many crypto casinos, so you also need to have other techniques to prevent you from spending money that you cannot spend

159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Licenses and Casino reputation on: December 28, 2022, 06:29:32 PM
Sometimes licences do not mean anything as even if they have licences they could not have any reputation, or even worst, they can havea bad reputation.

For me, it is much more important to find that  a casino has a good reputation than if it is fully licenced.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 28, 2022, 06:22:55 PM
I haven't come across the responsible gambling feature not even for once and I would want to know what casino do you use and how does this feature really work ?
From the way you said@OP, I think the responsible gambling feature will be a very nice feature and a very helpful one to combact addiction in gambling and to help monitor the spending habit of a player or gambler at a time.
There are lots of things I try as much as possible to combat while gambling and one of them is chasing my loss and what I simply do when ever I begin losing so much, I just take a break and not let my losses get into my head.

The responsible gambling feature is something that is very useful but unfortunatelly it is also something that it is difficult to finding in most of the crypto casinos out there. I remember that i have found the feature on Betcoin a few years ago. I dunno if they still have it.

As for the functionality of the feature itself, it is a feature for players that can easily lose their way after a few bad beats. It allows for players to set upmaximum deposits/monthand daily top expending, so I believe this is something that cryptocasinos should implement.
