Mining may continue to be "profitable" but not by the same metric people have been using for the past 12-18 months.

Times have been good for anyone getting into mining for basically the past two years as rising coin prices have more than offset the accompanied increase in hash-rate and thus difficulty. Now, the good times in mining are finally coming to an end and we are going to be looking at digging in for at least 24-36 months to see any reasonable profitability return.

This is especially true for those looking to buy new mining hardware right now. If you have had your rigs for awhile and you already earned your investments back, you can weather the upcoming dry months a lot better than new investors, as your only consideration is if your mining profits is greater than your electrical costs. Those who need to earn an ROI on top of operating expenses will obviously have a tough time of it, especially as computer hardware is still selling at 200-300% above its MSRP.

To see what is coming you can simply pull up a BTC chart from approximately January 2014 to January 2017. It took BTC roughly 3 years to recover from its November 2013 high of over $1200 and I expect the market to play out similar to that time period. BTC, ETH, ZEC, BCASH and the others will thrash around for another 6 months, just as it took time for BTC to bottom out in the fall/winter of 2014. If this pattern repeats we are looking at 2021 before everything recovers to recent ATH levels.

So if you can tough it out for another 3 years, pay utilities (electricity) out of your own pocket and keep mining and holding, you may indeed make some hefty profits. However, if you are barely scraping by, have bills to pay, have high priced electricity, or the worst-case scenario have recent credit card hardware purchases to pay back, I think you may be in for a tough go of it.



I modified a chart to show one possibility in relation to BTC, although I think it can apply to the whole cryptospace in general. In red I labeled possible similarities to the 2014-2017 time period to try and help myself put one possible scenario into perspective. If the market does indeed play out this way, we will have a long wait before mining truly returns.

A friend mentioned RVN and I started mining it till BTCP showed up. After a few hours of mining BTCP on the first day I realized I was having more fun mining RVN. BTCP seemed overrated or flooded in a sense. I don't know what will be worth more in the end but I like these newer projects that fly a bit lower on the radar.

I also blame myself when I mine on a fork.  The basic mindset is if you go from making 10 coins a day average to all of a sudden making 100 coins - you are probably on a fork.  I still mine at hashbag.  I also don't believe enkayz should have to pay anything for the coins mined on the fork.  That just shows he is a stand-up person with integrity.  I for one would never expect him to pay me for coins that were fake.  It is a learning lesson and will teach you to watch your rigs regularly.  We are all adults here and shouldn't need someone to hold our hands.  This is the wild west and as such a huge gamble.

Problem With (Android Wallet, Coinomi Wallet, Recovery Phrase)

Well, I have not lost any funds, but this concerns me about. Please any dev answer this question!!!!

I have both Andoid and Coinomi Wallets.

I tried to see and use the funds of my Android Wallet, in my Coinomi Wallet, in order to do that I used the RECOVERY PHRASE of my Android Wallet.

Well the Coinomi Wallet opened with my Android Recovery Phrase. However, it shows no funds!!!

How is it Called "Recovery Phrase", if the funds cannot be recovered?

Why people use 4 letters for their coin based on DASH?

Because both name and currency are dash, and now they can simply replace dash by pyro and release their own pump and dump coin.

Another copy pasta coin with no future and no real dev team with focus on achieving something.

I'm gonna mine on it and dump it straight as it hits exchange. 100% sure the value will decrease and decrease.

I will stand up for hashbag.cc anyday of the week, everything enkayz is saying is 100% true and valid, he has been here since the beginning supporting DNR with commits to our github and with yiimp as well. He does always try to do things the right way, without reconciling balances to zero, tons of miners would be in a negative, meaning you would not get payments as fast and would basically be paying off coins for no reason. enkayz is more than likely doing this at his own loss even, when a pool goes off chain and people keep mining it, nothing you can really do for that lost time there.

So is this coin already listed on hitbtc or kucoin? does this coin have a future and will never die in the coming year?
hitbtc is a great coin coin exchange place and i think this coin it deserves to be listed there because i believe if this project indeed promising.

They didn't say they'll list BTCP. Only announced that they will provide BTCP to BTC holders.

Just out: KUCOIN started to distribute BTCP to BTC users.

Remains to see if they'll list BTCP while they at it. I think they'll do as they've put in effort to support the fork.

Well if your mining with like 5 MH you may get 2 coins a day.

At 100 MH it is like 30 coins over 24 hours.  That is still decently profitable atm.......$7.56 a day is not bad.. ETH is currently 7.06 a day for the same MH......... Just saying.

NOTICE to hashbag.cc users:

During the weekend of 2nd-4th March, hashbag.cc forked to the incorrect DNR chain. After restoring the correct chain, many miners were overpaid significantly based on work they'd done during the fork.

Unfortunately, this caused consistent errors in payments as the balances being paid were not available in the wallet, which flowed on to all payments since. After reconciling accounts, users were in significant negative balances (i.e. overpaid) which would have required several hours/days of mining to restore to zero and start earning payments again.

As a result, all user history has been purged. All accounts should have been paid at fairly for what they mined whilst on the correct chain. Please forgive the disruption. We will be continuing our 0% fee mining whilst we ensure the payments are correctly processing over the next couple of weeks.
