141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any promising SHA Alts out there. on: February 02, 2014, 07:45:18 PM
Betacoin is the most promising of it all!

I have switched all my miners from Bitcoin to Betacoin since it is the most profitable, with steady difficulty and increasing price.
Also it is the most newly launched! It just counts 4 months.

It is the coin which will rule them all.

Mine now that is not too late Smiley

and a lots of pools!!!!

I prefer the http://pool.webcoin.us/bet/

PS: Even people who didn't even know the concept of the cryptocurrencies bought Betacoins the previous days.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] --- Which coin did you invest? on: February 02, 2014, 12:01:23 PM
Betacoin which is curiously is not included in your list.

I guess you are not yet familiar with it!
This crypto is based on the Bitcoin although it is much better in many aspects.

Betacoin (BET) Currency Review (from Crypt.la)

Betacoin’s an example of a coin that’s doing all the right things. The coin has a handful of dedicated informational websites at Betaco.in and Betacoin.org. It’s available for trade on major exchanges including Cryptsy and Coins-E. It’s got its own infographics and blockchain explorers. And yet, it’s still not all that sexy or popular. My theory is that it’s just too similar to bitcoin.

Like bitcoin, betacoin’s a SHA-256 cryptocurrency, which lends itself to ASIC mining. That means it’ll probably never capture the computing power that bitcoin is utilizing, and it’ll always play second fiddle (or third or fiftieth). Overall, I don’t see much innovation here, and I’d probably bet on litecoin or primecoin instead.

At the time of this writing, betacoin has a market cap of $391,655 and an average daily trade volume around $1,000. That’s far from an active trading community. That said, things can change overnight in the altcoin community, and betacoin has enough of an infrastructure to handle rapid growth. The coin doesn’t excite me, but I wouldn’t rule it out yet either.

Betacoin’s main developer is working on transaction comments (something that was debated early on for bitcoin, but ultimately dropped). No word yet on when commenting will be functional.
Betacoin Price Target

NOTE: This price target is entirely speculative. It’s a hypothetical what-if, so take it with a grain of salt. Betacoin would be doing well in my mind to ever hit 1 percent of bitcoin’s current market cap of $8.7 billion. That would give betacoin a per-coin value of around $0.66 if there were as many betacoin as their are bitcoin today (12 million).

Betacoin!!!
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Star Trek Crypto Coin Information Thread on: February 02, 2014, 09:09:47 AM
While not trek coins, FFC and QBT are HSA256 and will be on the exchange.

If we make a SHA256 it will need to retarget diff quickly as large miners and pools can make the network hashrate swing several orders of magnitude.

Blakecoin can be done on FPGA which means it could become a new kind of ASIC someday but will not need to worry about  that until UFC becomes very big and profitable.

Most SHA256 coins are very low value because they can be so massively mined.

Most SHA256 coins are just a profitable as BTC to mine. Not necessarily a bad thing. Plus look at the marketcaps of these SHA256 coins.

4    Peercoin    $ 122,912,581    $ 5.84    21,063,728 PPC
18    Zetacoin    $ 3,926,489    $ 0.025    159,747,221 ZET
24    Terracoin    $ 2,148,788    $ 0.43    4,967,550 TRC
26    Freicoin    $ 1,780,970    $ 0.05    35,888,382 FRC
41    AsicCoin    $ 498,117    $ 0.0012    405,190,402 ASC
43    Unobtanium    $ 446,390    $ 3.39    131,578 UNO
53    Bytecoin    $ 250,249    $ 0.14    1,844,078 BTE
56    Deutsche eMark    $ 221,875    $ 0.062    3,583,550 DEM
59    BetaCoin    $ 147,983    $ 0.026    5,628,298 BET
62    Tigercoin    $ 126,963    $ 0.005    25,286,184 TGC
72    Joulecoin    $ 55,717    $ 0.016    3,547,120 XJO

According to this thread here http://scificointalk.com/index.php/topic,147.0.html 70k UFC is equal to 1 btc. This gives us a market cap of 110 BTC. 110 x 826 USD (BTC-E) = $90,000 USD market cap.

So even with scrypt mining, UFC has a low market when compared to these SHA256 coins and even other scryptcoins. I am sure that UFC is more marketable than betacoin and asiccoin. I understand that by going to SHA256 it excludes most miners because of the cost barrier to enter the mining game is high. But in the end, the network still gets secured, and those that want to acquire UFC will have to go to the exchange to buy it. If coins are being created only for miners, and the only thing that miners do is sell coins to convert to BTC, then where are the buyers? SHA256 creates a market of buyers for the coin, just like BTC, its much better to buy the coin then to buy hardware to mine it.

I agree with you in many things although we should say that Nothing is more marketable from Betacoin

Where is Betacoin?
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Promising Altcoins for 2014 on: February 01, 2014, 04:16:49 PM
Betacoin

-Really fair start with almost month “launch phase” and no premine and absolutely good initial coin parcelling – https://infogr.am/betacoin-difficulty?src=web
-Fast and at the same time reasonable and secure block target time – 4 minute
-Fast and really good scaled network difficulty adjustment parameters – 4 min blocks are really 4 minute blocks and block time intervals in Betacoin network much more stable that Bitcoin
-SHA256 means absolutely hardware compartible
-POW means real decentralisation
-32 mln Betacoin units production and ~0,39%annual after is a really good thing for network in future
-Fast main coin supply – after 6 years the main coin amount will be in circulation, means can be used for real economy needs faster.
-Transaction comments – feature with lots of further implementations and make network more transparent.

One crypto to rule them all.

I told you my friend. The coin which is going to dethrone BTC is Betacoin.
That's why they are all scared so much and they even want to close the Alt-coin section.
They want to suppress people to be familiar with BET.
Do a search yourself and you see that it is not just another alt-coin.

Very supportive and strong community which wants to see a legal true decentrallized coin and fast enough in order to perform transactions even within totalitarian regimes.

Also today it was announced, probably, the most advanced blockchain explorer platform on the scene, that makes Betacoin even more transparent . Active development, new features every day.
