141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 11, 2017, 08:37:46 PM
Any update on the next release date on iguana and the komodo windows wallet?

Windows version will be released as soon as its problem is fixed.

Little Update

All Linux & Mac users can already use our latest wallet with all the new gadgets. It doesn't have installers, but the installation process is pretty easy nonetheless.

1. Extract the files
2. Double click Iguana

Release here with release notes: https://github.com/SuperNETorg/iguana/releases/

HOWEVER: it is not thoroughly tested

Our GUI developer Satinder Grewal will be focusin 100% of his time to actual development, not to the easy install releases. Thus we are now forming a managed testing group that will help to test the versions Satinder releases, build easy installers, and then also test those. After we have validated that the easy installers work as expected we will officially release them.

If you would like to help contact @audo or @polycryptoblog on our Slack.

So, the Komodo team has only one GUI developer?

I really appreciate it if somebody clear the current GUI developing situation, because I'am totally confused...

How many Komodo wallets are you developing currently?

How many GUI devs are working on each of them?

What is the difference between Multi-Coin Wallet and Iguana wallet?

Did you abandoned developing of Multi-Coin Wallet?
https://supernet.org/en/resources/updates/iguana-multiwallet-update-23
(the latest commit a145f67 on Feb 6 @pbca26 pbca26 committed on GitHub Merge pull request #71 from SuperNETorg/0.3)

When will the team release a secure, fully functional multi-coin wallet?

When we can expect to release the decentralizeed exchange function in the wallet?

Thank you!
We are concentrating on the easydex GUI as it was the closest to completion.

In addition to Satinder is ca333 and pbca26 doing GUI work. We also have a couple of devs dealing with installers and build automation. radix42 and fadedreamz on windows issues.

Multi-coin wallet aspects are already in the easydex GUI linked above. Timeframes would depend on OS, with windows taking the longest.

I am working on getting the low level DEX fast and reliable, after that and stable windows version we can start to think about more specific timelines. However, the JUMBLR will use the low level DEX ability directly and it wont need any more GUI that already exists.

We also are in the process of putting in place a dedicated test team for release management.

Attention Komodo Whales!

We have just launched a new Komodo feature called 'Jumblr', it is a decentralized anonymizer for KMD and BTC.

It is being tested right now and we need your help! Why should you do this?

 - you will help the development team; this is another usecase for KMD
 - you will conceal your funds; gain privacy
 - as a community we all need to JUMBLR as much as possible to enhance its privacy effect

A million KMD deposit would keep the JUMBLR service busy for over a week, and the more participation we get the more privacy the service provides. Once there is a critical mass, then it becomes the most private way to mix funds, and since it is not subject to any of the normal risks it should become self-sustaining.

The use of Jumblr costs about 0.3 %

Message from jl777:

need some people who are able to test JUMBLR. at least 2 people to start JUMBLR of their funds at approx the same time. Then to make sure it completes and then to verify that using block explorer it isnt possible to know who controls the destination KMDjumblr addresses. JUMBLR is unique in that all the "mixing" happens without any other parties directly involved. you are always in control of your funds, there are no multisig, multiparty tx. yet we end up with fully anonymized funds in the KMDjumblr address. My next step is to add the DEX of BTC <-> KMD on top so we get a BTC jumblr, but if we can get people to test the JUMBLR core (working with KMD only) in parallel it will speed things up.

What to do?

1. Join our Slack
2. Join channel #jumblr
3. Tell us that you are willing to test Jumblr.

We need to find as many people as we can. We will provide any support you might need, you can also read more about the technology, like its whitepaper draft.

 Undecided

Sad face...

Can someone tell me what happened with teleport, telepathy, zk snarks?
Why the sad face?

JUMBLR uses zk-snarks, ie z-transactions

It also incorporates teleport concepts.

Additionally a lot (but not all) of the teleport and telepathy is now part of the notary network. The change in architecture necessitated some changes, but the primary goal of easy to use privacy tech is achieved.

there were not so many payouts, so if next weeks is this small, we will go to payout every other week.

Less than a million KMD in this week's batch. I estimate there is only a couple million KMD left to payout, ie 95%+ has been paid out.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Komodo Group-Signed Transactions are Not Spam on: March 01, 2017, 07:12:13 PM
what is happening is that during the spikes komodo transactions are reduced due to nodes running out of usable utxo.

and the max rate is about 100 per day, can never be much more than that
so there is no way it is adding tens of thousands of tx in hours

komodo is a responsible user of the bitcoin blockchain and we can taken great efforts to minimize the blockchain usage.

In addition to that, we have been in testnet for over 3 months then mainnet for a month. If we were the cause then you would see a floor in the memory pool numbers for that duration, which you cant.

Thanks for your replies!

I'm slightly confused about this part.

nodes running out of usable utxo.
with the spike in mempool, there are no vins (usable utxo) that can be used. The type of usable utxo is constrained to reduce the space needed for each tx

but if transactions are stuck, then notarizations get stuck too. they are not even generated into the mempool

Good point. rephrase my usage of "spam attack" to "time period where the mempool has a lot of unconfirmed transactions"

I doubt whoever is responsible for the recent spike in transactions has taken the effort that we have to reduce the impact of dPoW transactions, and in fact they could well have designed their transactions to use up as much of the mempool as possible.

Fair enough.

I guess the thing on everyone's mind (or at least my mind) here is what is happening during the times outlined with the green circles.

From what has been stated in this thread from the people with knowledge of Komodo, is that Komodo transactions aren't causing the spikes in the green circles. Can you say with confidence that Komodo transactions are happening with the same frequency during the times circled in red as the times circled in green? If so, then I'd say the title of this thread is appropriate.

Obviously, something is happening during these massive spikes and I think most people involved with Bitcoin would like to know what it is (hence this thread). Many people claim it's simply "normal use" but I'm just not buying that.

I am very curious to know what rules are being abused.

I designed the dPoW notarization tx to minimize the size on the blockchain. If multisig could even have been used for an Mof64 tx, it would be 2 to 3 times larger.

i saw one tx that was a silly 50 utxo input to a 50 utxo output which was caused by this very spam attack that prevented funds from arriving to that wallet in time, so it had to use all the utxo to fund the inputs. If blocks are normal, then it would have been a single input (which was in transit) and 50 outputs. These 50 outputs use the fully dereferenced pay to pubkey script so it does not have to include the pubkey in the vin script that spends it. That saves the 20 bytes of rmd160 hash that otherwise would be there, not to mention the few extra bytes from script opcodes.

We are paying about 25 sats per byte to not interfere with the normal wallet default of 50 sats, so it is running at a lower priority and not pricing out other transations. It sounds like you would prefer we pay higher prices, which would fractionally price other transactions out. We just might have to if the current spam attack is a permanent state of affairs.

It sounds to me that you consider any usage of bitcoin that isnt officially sanctioned by the QT wallet to be an abuse. Do I have that right?

I followed the protocol. I designed the minimal space using solution that achieves Mof64 functionality. If that is abuse, then it seems to me any usage of bitcoin is abuse unless the central transaction approval committee officially provides a license to utilize such transactions.

Who is on this committee?

Wait. In the same post where you are defending your transactions from being labeled as spam, you label other transactions spam and mention an attack. I'm not sure if I follow the logic. Could you elaborate?

I'm genuinely trying to understand the entire situation.

149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Komodo Group-Signed Transactions are Not Spam on: March 01, 2017, 07:44:42 AM
well bitcoin is decentralized and has clear rules about which transactions are valid and these rules are being abused. you can call it Delayed Proof-of-Work or Stress test or Political crap about block size or even it is the protocol and I like sending those transactions and in all cases the transactions are clogging the network causing a huge memory pool which the current block size without activation of any of the proposals can not handle.

and then it causes the fee war and users having to wait hours for their transactions to be confirmed.

you can right now make a small program and make 100,000 requests per second to bitcointalk.org and you aren't doing anything wrong TCP protocol allows you to make these requests but you are just DDoS attacking bitcointalk.org and making it inaccessible to other users.

What makes   one users transactions "legitimate"  and another users transactions not?   They are valid tx's  according the protocol,  so obviously they can be sent.   Looking at it from a "legitimate use" point of view,     the transactions  serve a purpose   and aren't just created for no reason at all as in a spam attack.

next time try reading the comment first and then come up with a better answer instead of just saying something to have said it.
I have been careful about my choice of words. I clearly said the rules are being abused, if you don't know what abuse means check a dictionary, it doesn't mean illegitimate.

I foresee that komodogoers will not be able to move their coins out of the ico addy. All those KMD piled up in the ico wallet will be withdrawn by komodo scammer to his proprietary address so its safe to say bye to ur kmd and bitcoins. This all turns out to be quite a mundane ruse since it allows a scammer behind komodo to perpetrate massive scam on a large scale without resorting to elaborate techniques.

1) People have been withdrawing KMD from their ICO account for weeks and withdrawals are now processed weekly with the last processed 2 days ago.

2) Withdrawls are done manually for additional security to prevent a scammer stealing them.

3) If you feel the need to post about a subject at least know what you are talking about before posting but looking at your previous post in this thread you obviously have "issues"

Why do cats meow, why do dogs bark, why does crypto trade for fiat? Why does everything exist? These are the questions Im looking to get answers to. If u happen to know whats happening hit me up via pm here or on forexfactory and together we will try to decrypt the hidden message of universe and find out what has bothered the greatest minds of mankind for thousands of years.

@jl777 Just to give people an idea, how many KMD have been paid out so far?

65 million were sent out in the first days
since then about another 12 million has been sent out

The typical week now has less than 1 million KMD in the payouts as most large accounts have already done payouts.

Just noticed that in OP exchange list bittrex is missing.
Can also add new minig pool: zpool.

Fixed!

I will be doing payouts later today. If you miss today's payout, next one is next Friday so make sure to get your payout request in soon.

Can the current balance be added to the request?

Just a question

What do you mean?

When you request a payout it is always for the whole balance.
-> all KMD is sent to the address
-> all REVS is sent to the address

I requested payment on Tuesday.
I swapped again on Wednesday.

Hmm, the latest swap should be included. Is the ICO site balance zero? That would indicate that all of it is going to get paid in the next payout.
there can only be one pending payout at one time

The other day, some noticed the bittrex wallet was slow to generate a KMD address. The reason was there was a bug in the local wallet code that inadvertently had a 1000 utxo limit. I made a fix for it right away and we deployed a hotfix that cleared up the issue.

However, during the incident assessment, we decided to make sure much larger utxo wont confuse the wallet. The goal was to get a stable wallet behavior with 1 million+ utxo, which we expect will be much more than any real world wallet would ever get.

So we created an internal assetchain called UTXO to create this million utxo wallet. With several nodes filling up blocks with tx to the same address, we got it to almost 600,000 utxo today.

After verifying that the tx sending still worked, but was sluggish, I added some optimizations and now it is still on the slow side (half a million utxo wallet after all!), it is running stable.

So, we will continue to push more utxo into the wallet and will continue to test as it goes above 1 million and beyond.

Good job. This will be my first time transferring some kmd to bittrex and it is slow. 30 confirmations is normal?
yes 20 confirmations is recommended.
make sure on blockexplorer (kpx.io) that your deposit made it to the blockchain

i am ready to test the client side DEX against the marketmaker linked LP node, except for the problem that bitcoin is currently effectively stopped.

blockstream has gotten its wish along with all small blockers and now we have a fee market where all small value tx are priced out and could wait for days (or weeks) to get confirmed. zero-conf tx run the distinct risk of expiring out of the mempool, so any business using zero-conf might be at risk of being double spent on.

just send zero-conf with normal txfee, then resend the utxo with a much higher txfee so it gets confirmed, assuming the nodes have enabled RBF.

anyway with more tx coming in per block than being processed, we get https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-count

already we see artifacts from nodes having problems (big downward spikes). With more and more of the bitcoin ledger state in the volatile mempool, it is a matter of time before people switch to bitcoin unlimited and vote for 8MB blocks or at least 2MB blocks. Alternative is segwit 1.5MB block, which wont even handle the current load.

So, I cant test KMD/BTC DEX pair... I guess I will use the KMD/USD pair for DEX testing

next payout is on friday like I have posted
there is only 25 pending requests

there have been a dozen payouts already, not sure why it is such an emergency I need to take time out (repeatedly) to state that it will be done as announced before: weekly

If I am doing payouts, I am not coding -> each payout creates a delay for the tech.

please stop asking me for special unscheduled payouts

komodod.exe has been released into internal testing.

there is a windows branch for komodo, but it requires debian 8 to cross compile properly.

git clone https://github.com/jl777/komodo
git checkout windows

For osx there is a darwin branch:
git checkout darwin

It defaults to building for unix. The beta branch is what the notary nodes use, dev branch is where I am actively developing

Running a native komodod is the most secure and reliable way to run komodo and it also offers full functionality of protected/shielded transactions. Once we have native komodod for the three major OS, that allows anybody to run a full native node.

These native komodod are of course headed into the desktop app where the GUI can utilize it, in addition to the existing iguana and basilisk modes.

On the marketmaker front, even in a dramatically changing market price and after hundreds of trades, it is close to breakeven. A bit of a loss due to the low spread setting not quite covering the commissions. But to properly assess a market maker you need to wait until the market price gets back to where you started from. I estimate it will be close to breakeven in spite of low margin and trade commissions.

This was a pretty extreme market condition to test an early iteration of the marketmaker, but it didnt meltdown and seems a steady performer. Now I have bitcoin basilisk mode supported for LP nodes, the next step is to activate the DEX client. I have the LP side automatically adjusting the bid/ask on the DEX side in realtime. It is also tracking all changes to balances so it can rebalance if the balancing trade for the client side gets an error.

I still have to finish up the error handling and especially the retry for the DEX state machine for both the client and LP side, but just getting a fully functioning system is the required first step
