Hey, this Christmas stuff plus my life left me almost no time to be online last night, so I will be reading the 90 pages of the thread today and update the OP with the pools etc. Thanks for the support so far, I can see almost 1gh/s on the network so seems like a good thing.
Here is an idea, don't launch a fucking coin if you can't be online that night. An apology and real explanation of the difficulties encountered would have been nice too. Ultimately I don't think you have the leadership required to take this project off the ground. I hope you add other developers and marketing people to your team, because there is a lot of interest and value in your coin, but you are doing your damn best to mess that opportunity up. There are serious issues that need to be fixed right away, including the litecoin branding in the wallet, a clear announcement thread with all the info corrected and updated, etc. We've created a GitHub organization for Catcoin-related development: https://github.com/catcoinsWe're going to be picking through the code to ensure quality first. More to come later. I have still not finished reading the thread, but do the forks problem solved already?
Yea, poolofpools magnanimously relinquished their fork, and the remaining one became the main one. Cool thanks, just to be sure I'm on the right fork, can someone post here the hash of the block 15989? http://catchain.info/block/3c9fb10f20d5de1b6b9dcdd1151e8d915817b7343df45d756670332cbb168b78

I think it show only transferred CATs. Did you solomined 200 CATs?
All cat's were received from pool. My transactions went through but catchain.info is still showing wrong balance. Could your wallet be using multiple addresses? Check to see if the actual transactions are listed on catchain.info.

Hey, do you mind vetting and adding a couple more developers to the team? Being the sole developer of a coin that we hope will be wildly popular means that you can't afford to take time off for things like your life -- there are glaring issues that need to be fixed, and if you don't have time for it we'd all really appreciate it if you could find people who do.

It is strage indeed. mined 30 minutes before launch?
It was pre-mined 30mins before, ive said this already 100x no one listens :L It's the genesis block, it needs to be mined before the official release (in fact, included in the source code itself), so that all the miners know where the chain starts. Block 6 was the first accessible public block, as the official release had a checkpoint at block 5. It was mined at 12:32 AM: http://catchain.info/block/e1817f9e0874e9356057c0eb2bba817bc461fdbbc105d4f167953f8d28437f61I started in pool half an hour later. Does the altcoins need some time to warm up after the genesis block or it was just some bug? The genesis block can be mined at any time -- the dev just needs to add it to the source code at launch. After that, the miners will communicate with each other instead to assemble the blockchain on top of the genesis block.

scam coin, dont mine
why ? what is the scam? Why? Because I put 6 MH/s to mine for 5 hours and only get 600 coins, that's why. This isn't Dogecoin -- most people have far less coins than that ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif)

I just want to point out that no one knows who is on the correct chain. If the pool of pools chain keeps going and remains longer then it will at minimum become the correct the chain. I would assume pool operators know this. Every pool operator has a stake in whether or not their pool is on the correct chain. That being said they know if they are not on the right chain all they have to do is out last the correct chain and they will become the new correct chain. This would make their worthless coins from the beginning of their chain legit. Seeing how pool of pools got ddos'ed it seems someone wanted to slow their chain. I could be way off here on the way this works, but I don't think I am. Either way it's messed up. Just realize it's in the pool ops best interest to keep people mining on their chain regardless if it is, at the time, the correct one or not.
When will we know ? The owner of pool of pools has already magnanimously agreed to stop mining on his/her chain. The current chain used by the other pools is already longer than that chain was, and so has become the generally accepted main chain.

I'm not too sure this was such a bad launch. No one received a huge amount of coins in the beginning unfairly, like with many coin launches. The problem just amounted to too many people trying to mine on pools too early. But it seems to have all worked itself out now.
I'm anxious to see how this coin progresses.
Tending to agree with you -- seems like mining speed has already reached normal levels, with pretty good coin distribution among the first ~500 or so miners. The logo is really cute too ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

It's not compiling on linux. There goes your fair launch.
It is. make[1]: Entering directory `/home/miner2/catcoin/src/leveldb' Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/miner2/catcoin/src/leveldb' make: *** [leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2
So what am i doing wrong then? doesnt work make -f makefile.unix doesn't work eitehr. You need to chmod -R 755 the leveldb/ directory

Is the website not working right? Haven't seen any updates in the last couple hours.
I've found that sometimes reloading the page isn't enough, sometimes I have to use a hard CONTROL-F5 to ensure the stats page is reloaded correctly. This would have to do with my ISP and transparent caching, so other people might have similar problems. I haven't seen any updates either, but Cryptsy's trade engine just came back up so we should be okay soon. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

There are at least 100 fake listings. I was wondering why S. Africa was such a bitcoin hotbed. What I found was that there are about 100 listings that are just road names.
All fake! I think the site owner should do some basic checks...
Thanks for letting me know! I've added manual approval for all submitted listings. In the next update: I'll be programmatically pushing all manually approved listenings to OpenStreetMap.

This awesome! I love the UI & feel of it. :3
Thanks a lot! Do you have any suggestions for how we can make the experience even better?

The explosion of Bitcoin-accepting businesses worldwide (thanks to wonderful companies like Bitpay, Coinbase, and Coinmap) has created a need for much better location- and category-based filtering tools. The last week or so, we've been working hard to create a solution. We'd like to introduce Cointerest, the Yelp for Bitcoin! With Cointerest, you can: Please let us know what you think -- we really want to create the best experience possible, and would love to hear your suggestions and comments! Here's the link: http://cointerest.org
