However, if you want to take risks, the best bet is to consider the following

1. Founding team - Experiences, pedigree, past performances, vision and skills
2. Product-Market fit - Does the solution actually make sense or is it a fad ? Is the value proposition unique ?
3. Traction - If the product has a MVP, consider how many users it currently has. Consider product stickiness (ie : repeat customers) and profit margin
4. Runway - How long can the start-up run with the funds raised. Will it be enough to really sustain ? Will the start-up become profitable by said period.

Here is a great post about ICO research: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1923939.msg19087583#msg19087583

I think now it's time to go up?

Check back soon for updates as we now get back to work on making TokenCard the must-have debit card for the entire token community.

Is there any info on that?

An announcement will make the price go up potentially...
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO: SONM or Status? on: June 16, 2017, 11:00:33 AM
Both are good, both described on my website: https://icofomo.com/

Which one will behave better short term / long term on the exchanges?

(hard to tell)

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] VOXELS (VOX) | The Official Coin of Virtual Reality and Voxelus Platform on: June 15, 2017, 09:53:50 AM
if i buy today,
and tommorrow people see the marketcap is 15 million,
they will freak out and drop the coins,
because what i can clearly see here is that nobody has a clue about the issue or is silent because they are holding coins and are afraid about the consequences about everybody knowing that all the 210million coins are in circulation.

Everybody can ask on slack about this issue : the answer you will get is : yes, there are 210million coins in circulation .

Funny thing... This is exactly what I was asking about.

My blog: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@genesisre/altcoin-picks-usdvox-voxels-usdxzc-zcoin-usdmusic

Provided 4 reasons:
• VR is the future
• low market cap
• it has traded at much higher levels previously
• it hasn't been pumped yet

I might be wrong, but among 1000 coins and tokens this seem like a decent buy...

I've seen some charts and places where signals were placed.

Is there a source available for inspection?

https://cryptoping.tech/roadmap

I think you'd get much more contributions / trading signals / backtesting if the thing was open-source.

I'm a semi-decent-ish web developer and I'm looking for a promising project in the crypto space: https://stackoverflow.com/users/775359/michal-stefanow

Legitimate project.

Legitimate use case.

Legitimate...

Passes my BS detector Smiley
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help with launching a new ICO - rather than a Kickstarter... on: June 12, 2017, 12:40:28 AM

Very neat platform.

Chance for you guys to earn some BTC.

We are progressing on legal and regulatory end...

Still not 100% about the exact date and mechanics, BIP148 UASF is causing some stress about economy coming to a halt...
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Brainwallet - BIP39 - seed words - backup phrase - same 12 words for all wallets on: June 12, 2017, 12:17:59 AM
12 "random" words

12 "random" words from BIP39 list.

(linked in the first post)

if the alt wallet and alt-coin haven't altered the spec, it could work

It still makes me wonder - why there isn't a single wallet that supports all the currencies? Just like MyEtherWallet has the list of (some)  ERC20 tokens out of the box and allows adding new tokens, why there isn't a wallet with some major crypto and option to add a ticker for new ones?

I would imagine that standard of crypto is similar: public address / private key / signing transactions...

I think they have good marketing too: http://www.potcoin.com/tools

I believe in the industry and (full disclosure) put 15-20% of my crypto into POT.

Hoping for the best, I can see myself proudly promoting it!

153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BAT - Basic Attention Token ICO (31-5-17)- Worth Investing? on: June 10, 2017, 12:48:52 PM
I feel this has so much potential yet the drawback of having a select few owning most of the supply is holding the price down. Nobody wants to hedge their bets on something can be dumped so easily.

It's good to be a whale 🐳

Dumping ability...

It already went many X since the ICO, I don't see it going... Shorting would be a very risky strategy here.

I actually don't know if there are many platforms allowing short trades.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ARAGON: The Ethereum based Startup from Spain on: June 10, 2017, 12:31:08 PM
Is this a serious discussion on the project or you guys are just trying to pump the coin, the project seems to have a good use case, and bought into it during the ICO and still holding significant part of my portfolio but I still don't see the how organisation is going to adopt it on a large for operational use

They are in beta / alpha.

Operating on testnet.

I've reported some bugs to GitHub.

It's not mission critical yet.

In the U.K. - stable legal system - easy to open companies.

In Afghanistan? You are better of on Aragon than local corrupt government...
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ARAGON: The Ethereum based Startup from Spain on: June 10, 2017, 12:23:25 PM
As for the whales they do these things to all coins, I don't think its something the Aragon team can prevent.

I don't blame Aragon guys for that, but I think that these whales are people who invested heavily in the project. I will stand up and applause them if they deliver something revolutionary - then they deserve even 3000% increase, but this has nothing to do with it.

Yeah I believe they were mostly people looking for a quick flip. I'm one of those in for the long haul and I won't always agree with the teams actions but I believe in both their vision and their coding abilities.

I'm fascinated by their work ethic.

Recent partnership with Bancor.

I moved Aragon tokens out of exchange - long term store of value - these guys are into something.

Changing how business is done globally, enabler.

You know that I own their tokens so don't trust me - do your own research - ideally run their software and you'll get the idea...

Really well done! Actual product, not whitepaper-ware.

Not sure if Bitrex announces new trading pairs in advance?

I know that in case of Coinbase / Kraken adding a new coin was increasing it's value by 30%.

List of lists as I was doing some research: https://astralship.org/ico

Thank you very much, the list is really very very helpful

Because I'm sitting in the space with all the research, I've purchased #ICOFOMO icofomo.com domain (still needs connecting to Medium publication) and so far each day I'm covering one ICO...

The space is crazy.

Hoping to hop on a rocket to the moon...

At the same time - very often it's beyond my control that's why researching own ICO...

158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most promising 50 satoshi or below coins on: June 10, 2017, 11:58:38 AM
In recently, cheap coin so hot more than old coin, first this trend is XRP, STR, DGB, ... and nearest is XVG, RDD, MOON, HTML5, 1ST ... (but I think MOON, HTML5 look like as a coin for Ponzi Smiley )

XVG and RDD already went 10x recently.

I made some small gains on HTML and MOON... Maybe should enable "accumulate" phase and then pumping mode on.

Pretty much, i'm a 22 Year Old Canadian  that lives in Toronto.

You live in the first world country.

https://genesis.re/wiki#Homeless_experiment

I actually wanted to become homeless by design.

First thing on the shopping list - new laptop - so that battery lasts longer and I charge from battery pack.

Economy of being homeless doesn't add up so I'm still paying for the rent.

So much abundance everywhere, change your energy :

CONCRETE ADVICE: START RUNNING

- more oxygen
- more energy
- connecting with highly motivational people
- no cost involved (you already have some sort of shoes)

Disclaimer: Don't blame me if it steals your coins, I don't know how reliable the author is.

Ya I wasn't sure if some normal wallet could do this with some fancy maneuvers. I guess not and I don't want to have to trust someone else's coding skills. Thanks for the help though!

Here you go: https://github.com/aeternity/wiki/wiki/How-to-sign-a-message-with-a-private-key%3F

I'll check it out and see if it requires any trust. Thanks.

At some point you need to trusts something.

Calculating hash by hand = error prone.

Cryptographic libraries tend to have many lines of code but doing this on air-gapped computer minimises the risk.
