141  Other / Meta / Re: What does a Jr. Member do? on: June 11, 2018, 10:09:06 PM
In truth i'm not sure what you can do as i am not quite at that stage just yet.

As and when i do arrive at junior member i will continue to create content that i think will help, be useful to someone, and is worthy of meriting.

I have a certain style of writing that almost tells a story- a bloggers style if you will. Some people like it and some people may not. I just hope that the eyes that like it, happen to glance over my work!

Just create some decent/worthy content, and hope for the best.  Wink

Good to hear all of your thoughts. Being totally honest here i do feel a little apprehensive coming here saying the things I have said in this post, as i obviously haven't been here a fraction of the time most of you have. In terms of anything iv'e said, please don't think for a minute i am throwing my weight about and saying we should do this or we should do that. I think maybe my words weren't clear enough on what i wrote about multiple accounts too. If someone has 20 accounts and they are posting great content that's awesome, i was in truth referring to "bounty hunter" accounts when i said that.

It just seems that from what iv'e read in the short time since i arrived here, is that the issue has been worsening, hence the amount of threads of a similar nature. I could be wrong of course.

I thought that perhaps some established members may want to hear about the whole merit/shitposter/scammer problem from a fresh perspective. To let you know what newbies think when they see these ANN bounty threads 80-90 pages long all with the same "great project sir" bullshit parasitic intentions.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, crypto and ICO's- in danger of becoming a laughing stock? on: June 11, 2018, 09:18:23 PM
Yep, i see what you mean tee-rex. There are just far too many of them now, and ultimately anyone with a bit of common sense knows where this goes for most of them.

Your top 1-20 market cap coins are going to be very very hard to shift with the sums of money involved and the milestones they've already reached. It's going to take something special or wonderfully unique to gatecrash the top of the foodchain.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin,crypto and ICO's- in danger of becoming a laughing stock? on: June 11, 2018, 08:04:21 PM
Ok ok, I know the headline is a little severe. But the points i am trying to put across here are valid in my opinion.

No matter what stage we came into crypto, whether last week, last month, 1 year ago, 8 years ago. The amount of coins that are on the market now is absolutely incredible. I mean do we really need a coin for EVERY single mortal thing on Planet Earth?

Dentacoin! Boats & Bitches coin! Christ, i even seen WANKcoin campaign on here the other day!  Cheesy

Can you imagine going into the bank (IF THEY STILL EXIST!  Wink) in the future..."OK Mr Smith, how would you like to pay your phone bill today?" - "Erm, i'll pay from my WANKCOIN wallet if you don't mind!"  Roll Eyes

Don't get me wrong here, i LOVE nothing more than a good laugh! But seriously, some of these coins (and i'm not particularly referring to the above mentioned coins here incase you hold them!) are a complete and utter joke and yet people still put their hard earned money into them and cry about it when it all goes belly up!

The point i am trying to make here is this: If crypto is to be universally adopted, so we all fulfill our fantasy of it going mainstream, do we really need Boats and Bitches coin, WANKcoin et al?

Do we REALLY need all these different coins that do all these different things? I just cant see non-crypto people buying into crypto if it remains as it is. As a good portion of them aren't worth a squirt of piss....which reminds me, is there such a thing as PISScoin yet?  Cheesy

I'd love to know your thoughts on this? Thanks for reading this far...

146  Other / Meta / Re: merit and banned on: June 11, 2018, 03:42:12 PM
I would like to mention two issues in here:
- The first; banned problem :I want to say should add the warning to the first offender + the reason for warning the wrong account that caused. Many uninfected users are offended in the forum and they are unreasonably banned. So there is an email about rules sent to new members.
- The Second, merit: Many members do not understand how to achieving merits. It is important to establish a merit scoring system because it is quite complex and difficult to understand at the moment.
I hope the forum administrators supporting and consider my behalf.the newbie and many other members sent to the board!thank you

Tuanphuong666, there are clear and thorough guidelines regarding merit, and how to achieve it. It is by posting consistent, above average content and overall contributing and helping (where you can) the overall quality of the forum. I'm assuming English isn't your primary language, so I am sure you'd be forgiven for spelling mistakes/punctuation etc, but why not make a few decent posts and show willing? I'm sure the rewards will soon follow.

This isn't rocket science, its just helping and posting where you can and when you can. I don't think posts like this will do you any favours at all if i'm honest.
147  Other / Meta / Re: The Newbie/spammers problem. Solution anyone? on: June 11, 2018, 02:20:37 PM
Well said SEOcorporation, I as a newbie (at present) would fully support that move of having the 5 merit to move up a level, as at the minute its just a bit of a free-for-all and some-not all- are clearly treating this place as a meal ticket, which in turn reduces the quality content, which in turn increases the bounce rate as people simply do not want to see bullshit posts.

Let me reiterate, i'd be happy to lose my bounty sig if it means it's for the greater good and i will wait patiently to 'rank up' to junior. Anyone who is here to genuinely participate will surely increase their knowledge and effort here in order to attain merit, and therefore be awarded the rewards that come with it.
148  Other / Beginners & Help / STUDYING Coins- Help yourself become a better trader! on: June 11, 2018, 01:58:46 PM
I've seen a lot of posts in this section with fairly basic threads and beginners, so decided to post this here as opposed to Altcoins, but admin feel free to move it if you feel its necessary.  Smiley

This post is mainly about trading and what coins to pick that you think are (potential) winners.  Huh

The market is obviously down at the moment, but this will help you on the way back up i am fairly certain.

When i first started out in Crypto, i wont lie, i dived right in at the proverbial deep end and bought all the wrong coins at all the wrong prices, and pretty much got 'REKT' (wrecked/lost money) as some say in crypto. Totally out of character for me really as I generally like to learn my trade and research on anything before i make my move. However, i did what i did, and in truth it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as i managed to turn it around...eventually!

So, i decided to post this as a heads-up, rather than a guide or advice per se. As i am no financial adviser, and my experiences shouldn't be classed as financial advice either.

It's irrelevant to tell you which coins I bought when i first got 'REKT' as the same principles apply today, just there's a LOT more of them now. Its split into 4 categories for me:

  • Winners- Coins that have great fundamentals and look certain to stick around. Think BTC/ETH/LTC etc
  • Good Potential- Coins that have a clear direction/use case. That look solid and are potentially disruptive. Think NEO/OMG/ICX/ADA ETC.
  • Shitcoins/Boldcoins- Coins that bang their chest and think they are something, but really they are just plain old crap. Think TRX/XVG etc.
  • JOKEcoins-Coins you possibly bought when you first started out thinking- "Is this the next Bitcoin", "great project" etc. Think pretty much MOST 1-100 sat coins (Sorry if you hold any by the way!)  Shocked

So, yes i have my favourites- everybody does. Everyone differs, and i respect your choices, we don't have to agree on them in order to trade.

I am only going to be using OMG as an example here. Maybe as its been around a while longer than a lot of others but mainly, because I unashamedly like the project. I think its solid, i like where they are going with it and what they are trying to accomplish, LOVE the partnerships, the potential to be listed on Coinbase, the very close links to ETH, the list goes on and on. I have done pretty well from OMG by just watching the price and going back over time and taking an average price down. WRITING- yes physically writing the opening and closing prices down in my journal, doing basic Technical Analysis will usually give you the answers on a favoured coin if you have the info with you on what it has done in the past, and what its 'normal' sort of price is.

OMG (in my opinion) its normal price is around $15-18. Back in April at the beginning of the month when we had another 'crash' it was trading around $8, needless to say I was all over it like a tramp on chips (french fries) Grin). Then the market recovers, and it goes back to its 'normal' price. Its moved up and down a few times, but this is still what i consider to be its price. So today (under $10) is a steal and where i am stacking more. If it goes down further? Who cares! I'll still make bank when this blows over.

This is why i STUDY certain coins. Not just the price, look at events that are upcoming, main-net or test-net launches, partnerships etc that may increase the price.

Unless you are a skilled day trader (and theres plenty of them), you are literally gambling! Going down this route on a swing trade is most likely your best bet. Study the coins to find their NORMAL price and when the BTC price tanks next time round, you can bail straight out and/or have your stop loss ready, so when it dips right down you can buy more of it back at a better price.  Wink

Anyhow, I know this will seem basic to some of us, but if you're a beginner I think it'll definitely help you to trade smarter and avoid day trading (gambling!)

Any other tips? I'd love to hear yours! Cheers
149  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about Hitler? on: June 11, 2018, 10:05:35 AM
Unpopular opinion here, but Hitler was one of the greatest public speakers there ever was. I would honestly say a lot of great public speakers would have studied the way he talked, his body language, his intensity. Quite the salesman!

Don't get me wrong i'm not saying he was a particularly nice chap, having been to Auschwitz to visit (which i absolutely recommend by the way if you're into your history) the concentration camp and actually walk in the buildings where people perished en masse, is so eerie, yet a very important reminder that the guy had lost his mind and was indeed a real nasty piece of work. That said, have a read of Mein Kampf if you get the chance and make your own mind up.
150  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Humans are virus for the earth? on: June 11, 2018, 08:28:04 AM
I also Immediately thought of The Matrix when i seen the title for this thread. Here are the words of the infamous Agent Smith himself...

“I´d like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species, and I realized that you’re not actually mammals.

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way can survive is to spread to another area.

There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus.

Human beings are a disease-a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague, and we, are the cure.”

Legendary words. Sadly I agree with him to some extent. We are the parasites of almost every resource and animal on the planet. That said, id rather be a human than anything else.  Cheesy

I hear you coolcoinz i do!  Cool

I know what you mean and where you're coming from. As mentioned on this thread its tough to create a magic formula and one that everyone is in agreement on.
152  Other / Meta / Re: The Newbie/spammers problem. Solution anyone? on: June 10, 2018, 10:41:09 PM
Thanks for the very thorough reply 1miau, i agree with pretty much all you've said.

It is a bit of a double edged sword for me this topic, as on the flip side i honestly and genuinely do feel sorry for some of these people who will be absolutely desperate for cash, in some places the money they would collect from bounties is a kings ransom. That said, I have always been a believer that if you work hard- you get your reward. Cut corners and cheat- you get found out.

On a moral level, i'd be interested to see how a weekly/monthly 'Merit point leaderboard/awards challenge' open to all, categorized to best post of week/month, best newbie, best senior, most improved etc etc- you get my drift. Don't have to be offering large amounts of Merit, but its milestone to reach and i think it could encourage learning, reduce crap posting, and perhaps increase the overall quality across the site.   Smiley
153  Other / Meta / The Newbie/spammers problem. Solution anyone? on: June 10, 2018, 07:51:58 PM
Hi guys, i feel a bit cheeky posting this having only been here a short time.  Lips sealed

I just thought i'd give you my perspective (as a Newbie) on what I have seen so far and what seems to be a real problem- spammy, crappy posts/profiles.

I'm not sure if this has went on for years or whether there has been an influx of people arriving here since the price of Bitcoin went as high as it did. One thing I can tell you though is that every time I see one of these "what is bitcoin, "when price go up" posts i literally shake my head because another dummy has joined the club- and i have only been posting here for a week, so god only knows how the people who've been here for years must be feeling about it?

The Problem

Obviously there have been a few guys from a poor/disadvantaged background slipped through the net here and are possibly making very good sums of money (for the country they reside in) for literally bringing nothing to the table, quite happy to sit here in the shadows and not contribute or make any effort. Then a snowball effect as they tell their friends and they tell theirs etc etc. I don't know the numbers but can only assume there are a hell of a lot of new people joining here on a daily basis that aren't genuine or here to contribute. Don't get me wrong here, I'm sure a few of the shitposters are trying their very best to learn and fit in with the status quo, though i suspect a lot are here for a meal ticket.

The Impact

I had a look at the Alexa ranking before and had no idea this place would be as highly ranked as it is. Amazing! Its testament to you all for making it the place it is! It just concerns me that with the influx of fakes  and crappy posters that come here, it may harm genuine visitor retention (in the long term), potentially harm future campaigns/bounties/revenue source as advertisers get fed up of unscrupulous profiles talking gush. Above all, i'm concerned that the user experience won't be quite what it was? This is total assumption by the way. It may have always been like that round here i don't know.

The Solution

Is there one? I'm unsure what has previously been tried or tested. For the record, I think the Merit system that has been implemented here is one of the best moves you could have made, and was VITAL for the longevity of the site. It surely will keep out a lot of the trash, which surprisingly- a lot of people fail to see.

To give my 2 cents, i'd say there needs to be a more thorough registration process, stopping a little short of a KYC , but certainly requiring a little more information from each individual to verify if they are genuine or not. If someone has the potential to make bank from here, they shouldn't be able to register multiple accounts to exploit and cheat the system, at the expense of other peoples work, knowledge and insight.

Anyhow, thanks for sticking with this, I apologise in advance if i'm repeating something previously discussed. I might have this totally wrong and I stand corrected if that's the case but i'd love to hear your thoughts too?
154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reality of ICO rating/listing website. on: June 10, 2018, 05:26:19 PM
I think this is true of anything in life to be honest. Wherever there is cash- there are crooks.

Twitter is awash with scammy ICO pages that are basically just set up to farm followers. When looking for decent airdrops or bounties, i don't think it does any harm to do a bit of cherry-picking. By that i mean look for the better ones and dig a little deeper to see if they are legit. Look for a website and check the team out to see if there are real people with a little bit of history, what have they done previously, check their social media profiles if you want to be really thorough, borderline stalk them if necessary!  Wink

Common sense has to play a part too. If something seems too good to be true then most likely it is. Don't get me wrong I have signed up for a few where i have thought "yeah whatever" and then they deliver the goods! But i'm a little more vigilant these days as there are TOO MANY red flag 'projects'.

I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed people when some of these so-called 'ICO's' don't actually drop any tokens to their ERC-20 wallets, simply because they were frauds from the start.

155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie with merit? Yes its possible! on: June 10, 2018, 10:51:10 AM
Thanks for the positive feedback guys, it really means a lot!  Smiley

I just honestly think that if you are here and you are participating/looking/learning, then do it the right way!

Forget about the money aspect, help yourself first. This may sound a little bit like double standards as I have a signature campaign on here, but i might as well if i'm here right? It's not the primary reason i'm here. Learn to make content that people find helpful and engaging. Try and have a positive outlook, look at it from the perspective of YOU being the one who is giving out the merit- would you give merit to the vast majority of posts in here? I wouldn't.

I'm no expert but i'm trying. All the knowledge I need is here and on the web, I just have to find it, digest it, shape it and then present it in a way that people find useful and informative. This isn't rocket science guys, all you have to do is try a little harder. If your mindset is right- you are almost there.

As i originally posted above, if ANYONE needs a hand or help with anything at all, I will try my best to make the time to help you. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask.  Smiley

Hello arzcoin, just a little friendly advice here, if your project is legitimate and you want to be taken seriously- you need an overhaul of the content on your website. If its English speaking people you are targeting, they will immediately notice this and it will seem unprofessional/scammy.

One more thing, be mindful of the actual name of this project too, ARZcoin sounds a lot like ARSEcoin- Arse of which, in some English speaking countries is a slang term for somebody's bottom/bum!  Wink

Nevertheless, i wish you well with your project, and please take this as constructive criticism.

If you need any help feel free to reach out.
158  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie with merit? Yes its possible! on: June 09, 2018, 12:27:56 AM
Hi everyone, I thought long and hard about posting this as i am pretty new around here don't want to really be talking about the dreaded M (M*rit) word, or making myself look like a tw@t  Roll Eyes

However, I think its especially important that i get this out the right now while i am still currently a NEWBIE, and in my humble opinion i think that fellow newbies could take note of what I am saying. Apologies if this post is lengthy but stick with it as i promise it will help if you are struggling at first.

So firstly, I'd like to mention that I joined here in mid May and I've only been on here posting for around 1 week. I'm nobody special, just an average guy who has a young family and a strong interest in crypto/BTC. I have never been here previously and i do not KNOW anyone here in person, there is no bias toward you, me, or any other newbie in this forum. The problem we have here regarding 'Merit' seems to focus around it being perceived as unfair and/or impossible to achieve...

Well i am here to tell you that YOU ARE WRONG!

Weeks before i posted anything at all, i was on here looking looking through threads, looking at the topics that popped up time after time, looking and learning from the content, looking at the people who are posting the good stuff, looking to see if i could fit in and make a difference and/or help others!

Why is the merit system here?

Well its simple really, and it boils down to one word- QUALITYor rather the lack of it!
On one of my first ever posts I had a member (Jetcash) comment asking if i [as a newbie] could give my opinion on the merit system. I'll be honest, i was confused at first and then i read it again twice more-it made sense. Some of the guys who give merit here have been here a looooong time! Surely they don't want any Tom, dick or Muhammad (to be politically correct  Wink ) coming here posting trash and undoing all of the hard work that they have put in to build this place up and make it the absolute treasure trove of information that it is. Simply put- these guys are the owners and we are the visitors! Why should they dish out merit willy-nilly to someone who has brought nothing to the table? Only fair really isn't it?

So now we understand why the merit system is here right?

What can YOU do to gain some Merit for yourself?

1.CONTRIBUTE! Bitcoin and Crypto has to be one of- if not the most- discussed topic(s) on the entire internet. There is such a VAST amount of information out there, that you simply CANNOT FAIL to find something that hasn't been discussed in great depth, or maybe find a different angle to discuss a popular topic?

2.READ. I have no substitute for reading! Read other members posts, understand why they are getting Merit! It comes as no surprise to me that some of the same people get Merit time after time. Its because what they post is thorough, well thought out, colourful and precise. In the short time I have been here i know of AT LEAST 10 people who's posts i actually look for first. As i know they will have something good to say and it will be a good read. I'll not post names incase people think I'm hinting for merit!  Grin I'm not saying to plagiarize these guys, just to understand why its happening thats all.

3.LEARN So you might be new to Crypto, that's cool, we have all been there! Why not harness the power of the forum and research an answer in depth before posting a pi$$ poor reply? If you're genuinely here for the right reasons then educate yourself on the topics before replying and I have no doubt that in time your contribution will be just rewarded!  Wink

4.BE POSITIVE Negativity, begging for merit, and moaning will get you nowhere FAST! The minute you start whining on here, the less likely people will help you. If there's something you don't like or agree with, try and rephrase in a positive manner, if you cant, then just avoid posting your thoughts out loud!  Roll Eyes

5.BE REALISTIC A few of us newbies think you can just roll up post a few replies and get showered with merit, sorry, its not happening guys! Imagine you start a new job, and within a few days you are trying to be CEO of the company? Its not going to happen is it? Merit is awarded on exactly what it is- MERIT! Put in the graft, and you'll get your just rewards!  Wink

Summary

I'm posting this as i know that the above steps will help you on your way, it may seem difficult for some at first but put the work in and the reward will follow.I am not here to brag or gloat I'm a nobody in here compared to most, and at the time of writing this I only have 3 Merit, which is next to nothing- but not too bad for 1 week of posting!  I'm a positive person who will help ANY of you out if i can and i firmly believe my merit will rise the longer I am here-you just have to believe that yours will too and take some action! It matters little if your English isn't great or your grammar is poor, effort and participation is what this place is all about. Effort breeds quality, quality breeds results. Lets keep the crap out of here and we can all make a difference.  Smiley

I will leave you with this- show some of these guys in here respect- they've rubbed proverbial shoulders with the main man himself!

159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to run blogs to promote the bounty? on: June 08, 2018, 03:14:53 PM
Hello everyone, guys tell me how to blog. I would like to try myself in translating texts and blogging. tell me the information. maybe there is someone who has experience and tells me where to start?

Hi Che6ir61, so you want to blog? What's stopping you?

I'm assuming that you are wanting to blog about crypto/Bitcoin if you are posting here and talking about bounties etc. From the outset, it looks like that is your main reason to start a blog- the money aspect of it? Have you picked a specific coin or niche that you want to blog about?

This is your ideal place to perfect your skills and develop your blogging skills. There are some superb writers within this forum who make entertaining, colourful posts which are a pleasure to read. Just flick through the forum and have a real good look. Not only will you learn more from this place about crypto/BTC, you will find out how to write posts people engage with and want to read. Skills that are transferable to a blog of your own, where you can get your own follower base and even have links to your posts from this site.

Get the fundamentals right before thinking about the bounties, thats the most important part.  Wink

<...>

As you've said this is really basic, but, honestly, I think some seniors usually forget how important the basics are, so this is important to inform others about this kind of stuff.
I merited you for a well-constructed topic, informative and humble, and also because before meriting, I gave a quick look at your posting activity and you seems to write only where you find you have something to say,  One advice: avoid megathreads if you can, I mean replying in posts with more than 20 or 30 replies, or read all the replies first, if the post has been answered enough, then I encourage you to stay away.
Nevertheless, most of your answers are humble and informative, and anyone can notice that you are not here just by begging or earning or writing a single line hoping a reward.
Congrats. I'm honored I gave you your very first merit, let's hope it to be the first of many.

Thanks very much for that SEOincorporation!  Smiley and to Jet Cash too! Very much appreciated. You are right on the money when you mention how important the basics are. Oddly enough, i think its in the beginning where this is overlooked as people are rushing in and trying to get set up as quickly as possible and that's where mistakes originate. If you're going to do something- do it the right way. Especially when it comes to money!  Shocked

I also appreciate your feedback too, and again you are right, I only comment where I feel I have something to say or offer. I don't profess to be a guru as there are people here waaaay more experienced than myself!  Grin

In my short time here, I have really enjoyed it, I have learned a lot more than I thought i would actually, and my intention was never set out to fish for merit, merit has to be earned and I am glad you thought my post was worthy.
