Just because you support his suggestions you were given two merits , congrats !  This forum needs a reboot & instead of discussing about so called "shitposters" you should focus on delivering what you know .
Here comes the ICO shill bumper Coolwave again to ruin the discussion going on. When you're stop you stop your childish behaviour and your conspiracy theories about that you're not a scammer.

Actually, I didn't agreed agree with @hilariousetc regarding expiring thread concept. I think you are not reading any of the posts in this thread and just posting nonsense. This forum didn't want to reboot, but you are?

I don't care wether whether you're a scammer or not wether whether you're red tagged or not, but if you have nothing to add to the conversation it's better to avoid posting in a thread rather diverting the topic. I am delivering what I know and by sharing my thoughts regarding going on discussions, but are you? Everyone can see what you're are delivering to the forum when they looking at your trust wall. Cheesy

Sorry @Pinkprint for posting off topic reply.

<…>
I think you’re confusing Satoshi with theymos.. or you know something than many don’t ….
Hell yeah he is confusing theymos with Satoshi Cheesy

Quote
The reasons for a decreasing merit weekly aggregate are multiple I’d say, and not related to there being less quality posts around:

Quote
-   People themselves generally never really gained large amounts of merits for their posts, so the half derived dispensable sMerit amount is not too large either. That is also related to the fact that the general amount of sMerit per post and per Tx is mainly in the very low end of the scale (1 or 2 merits).
That's the main reason as per my observations. I would think if we going to encourage the posters who really contribute to the forum discussions should be awarded with more than 1 or 2 Merits in order to maintain the flow of Merits stable way. Because I don't think Merits should be a barrier for users (not the spammers) whose really deserved to be ranked up. Merits are introduced by theymos to encourage the good posters while discouraging the shitposters and spammers.

Quote
-   Merit Sources are increasingly more important to maintain the Merit System  running as a result of the above. If a few of them take a break or reduce the time they spend awarding merit, the numbers drop.
This is the second most important factor as you explained. I think there is not enough Merit sources at the present. theymos may consider this issue ASAP and nominate few more sources to balance the flow because there are good members who still willing to sacrifice their time for hunting down posters and award Merits for their posts.

Another thing that I have seen is some of the Merit sources relayed on there personal openion or principles when awarding their sMerits. It's ok if they awarding their earned Merits to some other members, but not the source Merits. I don't know is there any way to distinguish those two types of Merits for Merit sources. Merit sources shouldn't clouded their judgements with their personal openions or even their field of expertise and just look only the quality of the post. I want to know is there any way to find out unused sMerits of users? Because numbers matter.

How can I select all in the list and is it possible to export the results in some format?
I don't think there is a way to export the results except downloading the pdf of the selected data. But send a Prayer Message to "DdmrDdmr" and he will surely send you the data in a google spreadsheet Wink

BTW after trying to sort them I got an error:
There is an automatic trigger for timeout of a session, unfortunately, I didn't remember the period.

Seems like @iasenko might going to changed the path from Spam Buster to Merit Analyzer ( Just kidding mate... Cheesy)

What are some of the best online sources to learn about crypto and bitcoin?
I think this hidden site is the best online source that I have found. Most Importantly we can learn almost everything regarding crypto space without spending a penny.

Stupid people like you say anything without any single proof : do you have even a single instance where I have scammed someone ? No ? Please get lost !
Looking at proofs...
I think this is far better idea to call at least 10 DT members to verify the basis on which a person is negative tagged .
Verifying proofs....reading Lauda's reference opinion....reading ibminer's reference opinion....reading The Pharmacist's reference opinion...

Nah, everything is just fine with your trust wall, especially this part http://archive.is/j7AEM. There you go, now go and find 6 other opinions and see if someone will counter negative feedback  Roll Eyes
Sometimes scammers didn't like to see their trust wall, until they get scammed Cheesy

...
But, also users don't lock their own thread now. I don't think they would care for automatically expiring their thread.
I think the best solution would be to set a default time of expiry for every thread created. OP would still have the option to re-open the thread if needed, otherwise it should remain closed.

If we were to talk about expiry times, I think 1 week would be good enough.
No it isn't. One week is enough only for threads starting in B&H board where most of the users normally asks dumb questions without searching anything at all wether that question asked and given answers several times. But for other boards where we start threads specially suggestions shouldn't enough one week. Those needs to be continued until it discussed all the aspects and all the scenarios that can be happened.

A much better fix is to tackle the issue at the source of the problem which is crap campaigns that are paying people to make the spam in the first place. Punish that and spam will stop or at the very least lower.
I really support most of your suggestions which will surely leads to make a better forum where we all can discuss and share knowledge about crypto field without having less spammers or shitposters. But not this one, we can't put expiry date for all the threads, to just stop the creation of redundend threads by spammers who cares only the number of posts to full fill there shitty campaigns. That will be a annoying factor for true members who really thinks about better conversation with other members (not spammers).

More viable option that I think as you already suggested is putting a barrier of 1Merit requirement for become Jr. Members. Why we are allowing to rank up newbies to Jr. Member just by wasting time with shitpost or oneline replies, but not contributing anything for the forum or other members. If we put that barrier, I'm pretty sure most of the spammers will not join bitcointalk or leave the forum since they couldn't ranked up easily and cannot join for bounties or signature campaigns to earn money. Less money, less spam.
148  Other / Meta / Re: Expiry date for topics? on: August 30, 2018, 01:12:00 PM
Scrolling through there are so many posts with repeated replies, and some other posts which are giving wrong information (which was accurate atvthe time it was posted)
And mostly more recent posts with litle replies go to the bottom of our feed.
Should there be an expiry date for posts, after which the are locked or archived?
I think you are worrying about the issue that when someone reading a thread and founded that information was outdated. So you are thinking, there should be a system to implement to delete/locked/archived the outdated posts. But the problem is we can't say the superseded data/information was not worthy or to be locked/deleted since those information/data also needed when we analysing how things have been changed with the time. We can't just locked/delete history.

This is the famous quote of "Thomas Alva Edison" when someone asked what is the reason for trying again for inventing the light bulb since you have failed 10,000 times.

"I have never failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that didn't work"

I think that quote will give you the answer for what you have been looking for. That outdated information, replies and answers given by other members should be readily available when reading a thread. Then only we can say those information/data has been outdated or superseded by the newest with reference to the older ones. The best example for this kind of thread is Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion. Imagine what would happen if this thread has an expiry date or if we implement a system to delete/archived/locked the thread or even outdated posts? Then we couldn't be knowing about the history of bitcoin price movement and most importantly bitcointalk users behaviour when bitcoin crashed and even bounce back, price speculations with the time, etc...

But, also users don't lock their own thread now.
That is a critical issue that should be addressed by staff or mods. I also found out most of the members hesitate to lock the thread even they got their answers for what they are looking for. Instead, they are allowing those so-called spammers or shitposters to spam fest with their thread. So as responsible members we should lock our threads when we got the answers.

150  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 07:07:41 PM
I would like to shared my thoughts about this case. While reading this whole thread, I feeled like it's someone having red trust got scammed by green trusted hypothetical member ( since OP didn't provide any evidence for what and by whom he got scammed). Then suddenly he is getting angried with the trust system and even started a thread by questioning the trust system, but not starting a thread under scam accusation. I think OP is now feeling the bitterness of getting scammed. Imagine what would be the feeling of other members when they realized that they got scammed by you. (I don't know you scammed or not, but I expressed based on what your trust exhibit to other members)

"The man who sows wrong thoughts and deeds and prays that God will bless him is in the position of a farmer who, having sown tares, asks God to bring forth for him a harvest of wheat". - James Allen

To be honest, I'm also believed that current system to be tweaked, but until then this "trust" is a good indication for others to get a idea about who you're going to deal with. It's not giving you the licence or seal of verified to deal with others. Do your business with your own risk and there is no system that can be implemented having zero scammed policy. Because it depends on person to person. A person is always labelled as trusted until he/she scammed another person, and how the hell are we  knowing any perticular member is a scammer or not by looking only at his/her posting behavior in the forum.
151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie on: August 28, 2018, 03:35:39 PM
I was a newbie, but I always Read before posting and this is not a place where you say just Hi,Hey and bye. I don't think it is necessary to start a thread to just say "Hi, I am a newbie". Why don't you all fellows just read important threads before posting? Most of the replies are here from just one-liners its like typical bots. Just take time and see around, there are lots of learning materials here that we can learn without spending a penny. I will give you all a good starting point. Bookmarked this [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread created by LoyceV. Then Read,Read and again Read before posting.

Hint - Use this amazing tool before starting a thread Wink
152  Other / Meta / Re: Is it even allowed to promote website ? on: August 28, 2018, 02:37:56 PM
It's definitely annoying, and since the comments are not in line with the topic title or thread agenda, you can just report his posts for spam. In time, people like this will be banned from the forum, but there dozens of these people operating at once, so a few will always slip through the net. If a DT member could tag them that would help somewhat, but I doubt it would curb their spam.
I report his posts and mods also deleted his topics, but he is doing the same thing again and again what he usually does. I'm hoping mods will see my thread and stop this shit ASAP.

I see what you mean - glyphs in the title, and stupid great images. I've put him on ignore.

There are quite a few members who promote their own websites here, and I am certainly one of them. I do it in my signature, and in posts if the site is "on topic". Just as a tip for people considering doing this - you seem to get better click through rates from a simple "run of text" link. Of course this assumes that you are making a useful and constructive post to contain the link.

Promoting your website is not the thing I concerned, but the way he did it. Actually, I'm a fan of your work and the way you utilize your signature space with your site is ok. I just put him ignore, but why mods are leaving loopholes in the forum rules when it comes to the promoting websites. There should be a guideline if members really want to promote their website in the forum. Otherwise what would happen is those threads become a headache for other members and provide space for the spammers/one-liners.
153  Other / Meta / Is it even allowed to promote website ? on: August 28, 2018, 11:18:09 AM
This user promote his/her website (Topics started by user) almost all the boards in the bitcointalk. I don't think his/her intention is noble since this user only shares the links for his/her website, but not sharing anything in the forum. I'm not saying his/her posts shared only on his/her website are less valuable. Some of them are actually worth to read. The problem is the way he/she promote his/her website, it's really annoying. This user always uses big red dots on the subject and with big useless pictures. I have reported two threads of him/her and even deleted by mods.

The problem is why the forum allowed to run this kind of promoting which I believed really annoying for other users. I just want to know is there any forum rule regarding a website promotion?

Note -I have searched and couldn't find a similar thread which addressed this issue.

Question: Explain the avalanche effect.
<...snip...>

(PDF) Study of Avalanche Effect in AES. Available from: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/304141002_Study_of_Avalanche_Effect_in_AES [accessed Aug 23 2018].

Directly copy/paste from Wikipedia. By the way people are going to research due to merit reward Wink. I just avoid him to report plagiarism as well he try to research.

Nopes, This guy copied from that paper (the PDF reference  in the post). Since I do not expect a research paper to be plagiarized, and both paper and wikipedia having same definition, I make assumption might be wikipedia is plagiarized.
PS: Still make me wonder how somebody looking for a simple definition find a complex research paper in which definition is in the third page of the research paper not even in the first and did he/she really read that paper to that point?
I also agreed with @r1s2g3 and I don't think it can be taken as plagarised contents. He/she looking for research paper before giving the answer is actually better than just posting spam. If she/he read that research paper before posting means something to me and even worth a Merit(at least for me). Since the introduction of Merit system, people are going to read even research papers before posting. So isn't that good thing rather criticizing?

I don't know why people are thinking that details in the Wikipedia is always right and those are not plagarised from anywhere. Actually some of the details are incorrect in Wikipedia and academic communities normally not taken details published in the Wikipedia as trusted sources for cites, since those details can be manipulated.

I'm afraid it was already created as Terminolgy thread, by yogi Tongue

BTW good work OP.

Just one question before you or mods locked the thread, can you show me how Flat Earth looks like? Are other planets also Flat? Grin

Mods can you lock this thread, This is going to be another Mega thread about a Flat earth
157  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Merit data analysis on: August 26, 2018, 06:42:54 AM
I have collected all your given datasets and will make a time series analysis when the data reach at least 50 points (50 weeks.)
What part of my weekly data do you use for this? If you use the raw data, you don't need to download 50 different versions. Instead, you can just dissect the data into the chunk size you like. If it helps, I can probably supply the format that works best for you.
You got my ideas wrongly.
For doing Time series analyis, such as discover periodic distribution of Merits in the forum, daily, weekly, monthly, etc. I need at least 50 data-collecting-points (not versions as you said) to discover it (if it really exists).
For example: for montly data, I need 50 months; for weekly data, I need 50 weeks.

No, you didn't need 50 data collecting points. You only need the latest version of the raw data and you can dissect the data into the chunk size as you wish. Initially, I thought your chunk size is a week. But seems like you are going to wait a long time(more than 4 years) if you choose the chunk size as a month. You can do a better analysis by choosing the chunk size as a week rather than waiting four years. Because a lot of things can be changed (even the merit system) within four years period.

@tranthidung, Initial data sets are revised with the latest ones. So better to take the newest one.

I got that Tongue But I can't think of anything of my old data being useful now. Some details are even incorrect, and fixed in later weeks.

BTW what happened to that bug @LoyceV, is it fixed now?
158  Other / Meta / Re: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members on: August 26, 2018, 05:37:47 AM

The list is perfect to both help those users who deserves to rank up and catch the cheaters too, hope we can keep this thread up to date.

Actually, I created this thread only to help the users who deserved to be ranked up, But now I can see some of the members still retained at the same merit level where I include them in the first place. Sometimes it is surprised to see how they got that merits too. You are right and I think now we can identify the cheaters too.

Hi,

Is it possible to add this user to the list ?
shitcointalk

He just got his 90th merit and has the activity to be a full member.

He will be added for my next update and he received his 90th merit after my latest update.

I think @tranthidung already decided the chunk size is week, so he/she needs to wait the 50th version to be released which isn't released yet . Am I correct Wink
160  Other / Meta / Re: Follow users by merit instead of threads on: August 25, 2018, 06:42:58 PM
Since everyone is promoting their merit statistic sites, BPIP is looking for a statistic partner.
I think you should choose a partner from these three musketeers Cheesy

My choice is DdmrDdmr and what is yours sir Vod?

OP has an interesting idea, to follow only content from high merited members, but the fact that the user have 10, 50 or even 100 merits, does not always mean that this forum member has quality posts.
I also agreed with that the fact what you're highlighting. That's why I always believed there should be another Elite rank to scrape true Legendaries by all means. There are few of them wasting their airdropped Merits for ANN threads and involved in Merit trades while most of them contributing for the forum and guiding Juniors, even though knowing they ranked the topped and there's nothing to achieve but the utter satisfaction. That's how I think and I might be wrong, but that's the way I think about those true Legendaries.

Quote
Most of them are active members and excellent quality posters and they deserve every merit.
The truth is already within your post.

BTW I just give the stats half of the stats (next half is hero  members) what was looking for, but not agreeing with what OP suggesting.
