141  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 08, 2014, 05:12:13 PM
I would like to think that Bitmain has finished manufacturing a while ago and, in fact, is secretly mining. That, to be honest, would be better than them not mining right now.

That would mean we won't see a huge increase in hashrate once they ship.

Still waiting for a real anon coin

You're waiting, but the train is starting to leave the station.

I'm assuming you are still long on XMR? I was too until very recently but with the price approaching below $2 levels, I don't know what to think anymore.

FAQ: Are you mining with S3 now?

Yes, we have been mining with one S3 testing sample on our engineer's desk. But we have not been able to do a large mining farm with S3 yet. We have been using S2 machine to deploy a mining farm, and that is how we own the hash rate.

The bulk PCB will be arriving tonight, and we will start first batch production tomorrow. First batch usually takes a longer time than later. We may ship the S3 -B1 on or before 14th.

This doesn't make me happy. Not only does this mean you haven't started manufacturing them yet, but it also means that the recent difficulty increase wasn't due to you guys mining with them. This means we will get a significant bump in difficulty when they are shipped.
144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 07, 2014, 03:01:53 PM
What reason do we have to believe that the first batch will be shipped at the beginning of the period they provided us? I can easily see them dragging this off until the 20th since they can mine even more with them.

They already got their $20,000,000 from the sales of the first batch. Now they are just being greedy.

Im searching Antminer S3 to some on sell Turkey ?

Turkish customs has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to miners. There is no way it will make its way through there, trust me I know. You can try bribing them.

Alternatively, I'll be going to Turkey on December, I can bring one with me and sell it to you if you want. I did that before.

Would this PSU support (3) S3's:

EVGA SuperNOVA 1300G2 ATX12V/EPS12V 1300W 80Plus Gold Power Supply 120-G2-1300-XR
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00COIZTZM/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, power specs-wise definitely. You can overclock them too.

Available PCI-e output-wise, probably. From the picture, I see that it has more than 4 PCI-e cables. That's good. There seems to be some more but I can't tell from the picture. Either way, this PSU would easily work for you.
147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 02, 2014, 02:16:59 PM
So, itīs possible to use molex to PCI-e adapter ?

Yes it is possible as long as you are paying attention to your PSU's power specs.
148  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 02, 2014, 01:05:08 AM
I noticed the S3 sold out already, so my theory about a small number of units being produced was correct.

The sad thing is that not only it does not ROI, but they are being sold in preorders not from stock.

so we will have to wait for 2 things to happen:
1. ROI
2. that sales from stock begin.

buying a preorder is very risky, it is a good guarantee to lose money.

Nevertheless the S3 is looking like one of the better options, I will be waiting for it, since a promise I made to myself is not to buy preorder, a preorder purchase it is really bad for miners.

Bitmain is more dependable than other ASIC manufacturers but obviously no guarantees. I put an order for two because if used correctly, they will ROI. And if they don't, there is always eBay.
149  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 01, 2014, 06:34:04 PM
yeah i dont like that. Why if they have S3 already, dont deliver right now? why wait till 10-20 july? you pay now, yeah, but you have to wait till 10-20 and maybe you receive them last week of july... i dont like that waiting period Undecided

Bitmain will likely ship out before July 10.  They did the same with s1 when it was released.  After the first two rounds, it will fall back to 48hr delivery time.  Remember they are shipping out hundreds of orders (multiple units).

They are much better than other vendors that take your money and delay, delay, delay and then fail to send units.

DoubleDD

When the third batch falls to 48hr delivery time, will the first and second batch be shipped?

Hi, if my order says

Paid
Unshipped
Valid

That means it's all good right? just need to wait for bitmain to ship

Yes
151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 01, 2014, 03:06:44 AM
I wish Bitmain didn't drop wifi support on the S3, the wireless support on the S1 was very handy.

Definitely. Now I have to move my router to the balcony. Smiley
152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 01, 2014, 02:19:46 AM
I'm having a hard time with this...

I certainly WANT to buy up a number of these...I even was ready to pull the trigger on another rack at my co-lo here for the hosting.

But running the numbers I'm having 0 luck making it make sense...
I'm seeing positive returns die after 4 months, with maybe 60-70% of the initial cost being recouped (after electricity costs) before they would need to be shut down. Even if I ran them at home with a slightly lower hosting cost it's a no-go.

Is anyone able to pull together numbers that make sense? Or are we rushing to buy these because we want new toys?

And remember...the argument of buying them in the hopes of BTC skyrocketing just means you may as well spend your money on more coins, or holding the ones you have...

Start mining as soon as you get the S3, and keep tabs on what they are selling for around the web... From my experience, mining for 50%-75% of the miners life on full tilt or OC'd if possible gives you enough coin (barring no crazy drops in value) that you can then sell the miner for some profit.. I have done this with a few 1TH+ machines and it has yet to fail. I'm hoping the same is true with smaller power, more in demand antminers..

Edit: this is my first time buying new, so it might not work out. In the past i've bought used, mined for a few weeks then flipped for the same price i paid on ebay. They  pay crazy prices over there, just factor in ebay and paypal fees.

This is pretty much my strategy with all ASICs.  If you want until it doesn't even pay for it's electricity anymore, NOTHING is gonna ROI.  Give your S3 a good home for a few months while the hashrate it offers is somewhat respectable, then sell it at an inflated price to some dummy on ebay who doesn't realize it is nearly obsolete hardware.  If you wait until it isn't paying for it's own electricity anymore, the market is flooded with them.  Gotta beat the other miners to the 2nd hand market.  Kinda takes a long time to see any sort of return and it's not much, but it gives me a new toy to play with for a few months and earns me a few hundred bucks or a fraction of a BTC in the end, so what the hell.

Of course this is tough to do if your goal is investing big in hardware.  I'm just a small time miner, it'll be easy for me to sell off my 2 S3's in a few months.  Now if you had hundreds of them.....yeah it's a pretty bad investment.

Exactly my thinking.

Paid, unshipped and expired. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. My transaction had 5+ confirmations when the order expired.

just click on the green VIEW button on the right.
that's PDF of your order. if it says CONFIRMED-you are in, just save pdf on your desktop just in case.
they had some kind of malfunction between 14:21 and 14:52

Where should it say CONFIRMED? The only confirmation I see is "Pay Confirm 1.5 BTC". Is that it?
154  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 06:55:10 PM
Now i`m getting worried.

I sent my order through for 2 s3`s and now my order has expired without it being acknowledged.....

Dito!

I put 1 order through for 2

then 5 minutes later another 2

The second order went through almost immediately but the first has expired with no confirmations :s

Bitmain are pretty trustworthy, they'll sort this i'm sure!

As i thought, bitmain have manually sorted it for me already Cheesy

How did they sort it out? Do you mean it shows "Paid"? Does it say "Expired"? Because mine says paid and expired.

Good to know that other people are on the same boat, I guess.

In my opinion, we have nothing to worry about. Email them with your transaction ID and all should be well.
