141  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: February 14, 2016, 03:31:33 PM
Why pick? Why not get a bit of both and see how things work out? It's never good to be so extreme.
142  Other / Politics & Society / Re: MUSLIMS ARE NOT TERRORISTS AND TERRORISTS ARE NOT MUSLIMS on: February 14, 2016, 03:27:46 PM
Right. It's all a big conspiracy to get Muslims to look bad, isn't it?
143  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you truly believe that you are alive? on: February 14, 2016, 03:26:33 PM
I eat pizza therefore I exist. How about you? Do you exist? Or you're only some bitcointalk dream?
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald's accepting Bitcoins (not really) on: January 27, 2015, 07:06:32 AM
It's obviously bitcoin, I mean, why else would they surprise laugh upon learning of new payment system?
145  Economy / Economics / Re: Russians move into bitcoin as ruble tanks (CNBC) on: December 27, 2014, 07:17:42 AM
i heard on the news that many russians are just buying items that hold their value over time. maybe such as electronics or appliances.

I don't think buying a plasma TV is a very good store of value. That's just ridiculous. There are better things, like silver. That's already gone down so far, it's just teasing for a reversal.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New ZiftrCOIN Presale Launched! on: December 23, 2014, 09:49:08 AM
I think this coin is legit actually. But I don't like the pre-sale. The total supply mined over 10 years will be 10,000,000,000. One bitcoin for just 1,300 seems WAY overpriced. That implies a marketcap of 25 million after.

But yeah, it's got a convincing case so far other than that.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UTIL] UtilityCoin - x13 POS - New Developer on: December 23, 2014, 05:29:35 AM
I don't care whether you think this is FUD or not... You can delete this if you want, I don't care honestly.

I know I have been reacting negatively before, because I remember when a dev took over an altcoin before, I believe it was flappycoin. Alot was done to improve the coin, better wallet, games, and even an online wallet. These were things nobody has heard of before. It didn't effect the price, even though alot was done. And now I am reflecting back on that.

I am glad someone took up the project. Hopefully it goes somewhere, I don't care since Ive already been burned by this by Pr0m and his team, I am not ready to be burned again.

Sorry.

Nope, not buying

No, I would actually rather bump this thread so everyone can see. The discussion there doesn't matter.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UTIL] UtilityCoin - x13 POS - Large Update - 10/30 - Advancing Privacy on: December 22, 2014, 08:40:12 AM
Work was last done 9 days ago. Who do you think you're fooling? Bitcoin is going to moon again, and nobody who hasn't forgotten about it will give a fuck about Util. So what is this? The last push to sell off the remaining 20% of the 70% pre-mine?

Test ready? lol. The only thing you're doing is making a wallet that doesn't look like a stinking scam to cover up and replace your Keycoin clone blunder. When regulation comes, you guys are going to get fucked hard. This slack thing is just a public behind the scenes thing to fool their perception into thinking something will actually be done, and there is a serious effort. Don't bullshit, it's 100% scripted, and we all know it.

I noticed someone has turned on the sell bot again. LOL
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UTIL] UtilityCoin - x13 POS - Large Update - 10/30 - Advancing Privacy on: December 22, 2014, 03:54:17 AM
UtilityCoin update 21-12-2014

As this thread seems to be abandoned by the original poster, I have created a new UtilityCoin thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=901629.0

I would like to invite you all to this moderated thread, where I will try to keep you updated of developments as much as possible.

Also I really recommend joining the blocknet slack through http://goo.gl/forms/UkViMl2fKn, as it is just so much easier communicating

I have been diving into the UtilityCoin code that was available on BitBucket, and started to implement a node system that was proposed in the original ANN.
However, I haven't finished it yet. But due to the pending delisting on Bittrex, I still wanted to share with all of you, that progress is still being made, albeit by a another developer, and hopefully get enough volume to stay listed.

Current development on the node system can be seen at https://github.com/ruleland/utilitycoin, and it should be ready for testing soon.

The system allows for a wallet to start as either a control node, a service node or a normal node.

The control node can have several service node entries that are linked to different wallet addresses with a transaction of exactly 2500 UTIL. With such a transaction in the wallet, a service node can be started.

The service node is supposed to service the network. Possible features would be anonimization of funds, function as a VPN node or any other network function you can think of.

The normal node will be updated so it can actually use the service nodes to execute network functions.

The main focus for now, is to get the initial node system working. This will be very similar to the DarkCoin masternode system developed by Evan Duffield, as I am using his code as an example.

I will update the new ANN soon with some more information as soon as I have the node system finished and have some time.

A new domain has been registered with a temporary site that can be found at http://utilitycoin.info
Why would the dev just leave and not tell anyone. I thought Dan Metcalf was like... god.

That piece of shit website with a BASIC domainname is not going to entice anyone into buying anything from this bucket of horse shit.

Especially when all it is right now, a complete rip off Keycoin. And that leads to the question, was there even a developer at all? Looks like this work is being done in parallel so somebody can exit.

This is hilarious.

A little something for you scam coin bulls. I came here hoping to prove myself wrong for selling, and then I see.

"This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on December 26th unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.2 BTC."
Bittrex says.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The sad truth about Bitcoin on: December 18, 2014, 07:29:23 AM
I've come to realize that Bitcoin is either for the rich or for poor people picking up the smallest of crumbs.  There seems to be very few people in the middle.  If this doesn't change... Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general is doomed.

It's all the freaking scam coins out there, they're tarnishing bitcoin. I knew they were bad news the moment they started rolling out,
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New ZiftrCOIN Presale Launched! on: December 18, 2014, 07:26:48 AM
No! This is a clear as day scam! And it's being advertised on the web.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: New ZiftrCOIN Presale Launched! on: December 18, 2014, 04:23:03 AM
Hi All! Wanted to take a moment to let you know that we just launched the ziftrCOIN presale on December 9th. As of 4 PM EST today, we’ve sold over 3.3 million ziftrCOINs for roughly $450,000 or around 1,260 BTC.
This is obviously a skewed figure.
How can you even say that when it just came out. I haven't even heard of this coin until now.

No more pre-sale ico etc scam coins!

Enough already!

Announcing a scam coin is one thing, publicly advertising it on websites just crosses the line. This has gone too far. I hope the upcoming regulation hauls your scheming ass in a nice cold jail cell.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentrally mined currency has failed and can't possibly be rescued on: November 30, 2014, 05:16:51 PM
blackbird307, I am not concerned about the Bitcoin price. I mention in passing that I had made some correct expectations on the declines in price only to establish a bit of my credibility as to be able to foresee trends.
lol, credibility, and internet.

The applicable theme of this thread is to about whether Bitcoin can succeed very well, while simultaneously defeating our ideals about monetary freedom.
Yeah, except miners don't work for free, they have expenses, so you can't ignore the price. And here you are talking about your "credibility" because of a prediction in price. Even though the theme of the thread is not about the price.

158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentrally mined currency has failed and can't possibly be rescued on: November 30, 2014, 08:20:05 AM
Half the people in here discussing how bitcoin will never work, flawed, etc. Same discussion that took place every year in the past 4 years, nothing different.

Other half of everyone in here thinks bitcoin is going to increase 10x again. Let's think about the reasons why this will not happen in the near future.
- No driving force behind the price
- That's a 40 billion dollar market cap, how realistic is it to go from 5 billion to 40 billion in a week? How much money do you think that would require?

What if it goes from $370 to $100? It's very possible, we've seen drops like that in the past. On a scale of one to ten, how fucked are you?

That's alright, keep believing. Traders will milk the market of "moon", they don't care about the price, just the gains.
159  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What if a large number of miners were suddenly forced to shut down? on: November 30, 2014, 08:08:07 AM
This is one of the many reasons why I am so against ASICs. You have a smaller distribution, creating farms, while also creating critcal point of failures in the network during an occurrence. This aside from the fact that you hit a silicone ceiling with Moors law.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: Why Ripple/XRP Doubled In Value in Less Than A Week on: November 29, 2014, 06:11:29 AM
Ripple as the network and RTXP as a protocol both are incredible pieces of technology... definitely a LOT of value in there.  I'm a Bitcoiner same as the rest of you but I don't know how you guys can look at this with blinders on.  I've read the Ripple whitepapers, used the system and researched the valuation basis in depth.  There is actually something credible here.  It's not Bitcoin, it's a little different, but it will be of tremendous value to the financial system.  I am sure it will beat Bitcoin toward the goal of networking the world's currencies for fast value transfer while still saving money for the little guy.  Ripple has already pulled ahead of Bitcoin in terms of connecting with banks and such.

If RTXP is incredible technology, so is PoS lol....

The question is, why and who double the value of ripples as we see it now in coinmarketcap?

Who and why? I believe its not people like us but Ripple management who is doing this, its obvious, for the last week it has gone up slowly and steadily, clear indication of possible manipulation of price , not because of trading, and now today is not going up or down in price , its fixed! so can someone explain to me this other to what I have just said?

Who, why? It doesn't matter who, the real question is why. The answer to that question can be found in the altcoin section. Ripple doesn't have alot of volume, it wouldn't be very hard to do.

Trust nobody.
