Сценарий развития событий, когда SEC США признает XRP ценной бумагой Ripple Labs маловероятен, но является наиболее негативным. Тогда компании придется компенсировать убытки вкладчиков, скорее всего за счет собственных запасов токенов, а многие американские криптобиржи проведут делистинг XRP, чтобы не связываться с государственными регуляторами.

Также нельзя исключать вероятность роста XRP в случае нового полета на луну биткоина и всего крипторынка вместе с ним. Trustwave выпустили новый инструмент с открытым исходным кодом Social Mapper, который использует алгоритмы распознавания лиц, чтобы находить и группировать аккаунты человека в социальных сетях. Нейросеть автоматически находит профили в Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn и других сетях, основываясь на имени и фотографии. Результаты выводятся в отчет, который может быстро просмотреть оператор.

Social Mapper не требует доступа API к социальным сетям. Вместо этого система выполняет автоматический ручной поиск в окне браузера, используя алгоритм распознавания лиц и сканируя первые 10-20 результатов на соответствие. Инструмент работает медленнее чем API-сканеры. По оценкам разработчиков поиск 1000 человек занимает 15 часов.

Конечным результатом является таблица подтвержденных аккаунтов для каждого имени, подходящая для целенаправленных фишинговых кампаний или общего сбора информации.

Ukraine Election Body Trials Voting on an NEM Blockchain

Blockchain technology has been deployed for Ukrainian elections in a test according to a Facebook post by Alexander Stelmakh, an official Ukraine’s Central Election Commission.

A test began several weeks ago and voting is currently underway held using test coins provided by the NEM Foundation.

Blockchain makes it impossible to change saved information, the post noted. The decentralization of the data is also seen as advantageous. NEM’s blockchain allows a user to create their own assets. In addition, the blockchain’s log structure includes a message box that allows the user to attach a message.

All information protocols are displayed in the format section on the blockchain. Assisted transactions can also be viewed on the blockchain. In addition, NEM’s API allows users to access data in an easy-to-use format.

Worth The Cost
The estimated cost of placing the results on the blockchain will be small in exchange for the lifetime preservation of such socially important data, Stelmakh noted.

The NEM website notes that the foundation is committed to working with governments to expand the use of the NEM blockchain, and that the ability to record transactions on distributed ledgers offers governments the chance to improve transparency, prevent fraud and build trust.

В Украине тестируют голосование на Блокчейне

В Украине запустили в тестовом режиме систему голосования на блокчейне NEM. Результатом такого эксперимента поделился представитель Центральной избирательной комиссии Александр Стельмах.

Вместе с NEM Foundation, эксперимент запустили еще в июле. Они бесплатно предоставили криптовалюту XEM для совершения транзакций. За каждый из 29 215 голосов система автоматически снимала комиссию с инициатора транзакции в размере 0,3 XEM.

   "Таким образом ориентировочная стоимость размещения результатов выборов в разрезе каждого избирательного участка в блокчейне NEM будет составлять 8765 XEM = $1227. Как по мне, это небольшая плата за пожизненное сохранение таких общественно важных данных", — заявил Александр Стельмах.

Vitalik Buterin, Binance CEO Zhao Agree Decentralized Exchanges Should Lead The Way

During an interview at Tech Crunch Sessions: Blockchain 2018, Ethereum Founder, Vitalik Buterin hoped “centralized exchanges burn in hell as much as possible” as he strongly advocated for the use of decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges.

Vitalik’s fiery comments stemmed from his annoyance towards centralized exchanges wielding “stupid king-like power” as they have the power to dictate which cryptocurrencies “become big” after making projects pay extortionate “$10 to $15 million dollar [exchange] listing fees.”

Buterin’s comments caused quite a stir within the crypto community invoking a response from Binance Founder, Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao on Twitter.

Zhou fired back by highlighting several flaws in Buterin’s arguments by stating that:

“There is no absolute decentralization. Projects with core teams still have centralization. Today, Vitalik probably has more king-like powers than anyone else in this industry, and has used it, by serving as advisors to projects, therefore helped to decide their fate, at least fate of their ICOs to a large extent.”

Zhou further remarked that “Decentralization” is not safer by default” and this was clearly evidenced by the recent hack of decentralized exchange Bancor with the less of $12m worth of Ether as well as EtherDelta also falling victim to a phishing attack late last year.

On the same day, CZ shared his response, Buterin chose not to reply publicly instead opting to respond to a cheeky Tweet from a new French cryptocurrency exchange Blockchain.io that asked whether their “decentralized settlement feature” would send them to purgatory.

There Are Now More Than 3,500 Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide

While not as widely used as those made for fiat currency, cryptocurrency ATMs remain a popular medium for buying and selling cryptocurrency such as bitcoin. Today marks a milestone, as there are now over 3,500 bitcoin ATMs installed and operational around the world.

ATM Count Breaks the 3,500 Mark
The latest data from Coinatmradar — a leading authority that tracks bitcoin ATM locations — shows the slump in bitcoin prices hasn’t had much impact in the rate at which crypto ATMs are being installed and used across the world. The data shows there are currently 3,503 bitcoin ATMs across the globe, as of press time. Out of these installed ATMs, 1,846 (about 52.7 percent) support altcoins with 49 percent and 32.1 percent of these ATMs supporting litecoin and ether, respectively. This new milestone comes 17 months after the total number of bitcoin ATMs surpassed the 1,000 installation mark in early 2017.

America Keeps its Spot
The data from Coinatmradar reports that North America has the largest concentration of ATMs globally, with a whopping 2,594 bitcoin ATMs installed, which translates to 74.05% of the total spread of ATMs installed across the world. Филиппины ужесточают отношение к криптовалютам и ICO. Комиссией по ценным бумагам и биржам Филиппин был опубликован доклад, в котором было высказано предупреждение о высоких криминологических рисках отдельных ICO.
 
Не прошло и пары месяцев, как Комиссия по ценным бумагам и биржам страны опубликовала правила регулирования ICO. Наиболее интересной представляется позиция Комиссии признавать ценными бумагами все токены, пока их эмитенты не докажут обратное! По мнению филиппинских властей, инвесторы не должны самостоятельно судить о природе токенов, поскольку не обладают достаточными знаниями.  Выпуск токенов будет разрешен только после того, как Комиссия на основании поданной эмитентом токена заявки, выпустит отчет о его природе.

‘Multi Billion-Dollar Idea’: Australian Tech Entrepreneur Plans Crypto Bank Launch

Fred Schebesta, a 26-year old entrepreneur who co-founded comparison website Finder.com, wants to open a crypto bank in Australia.

Schebesta believes that interest in cryptocurrency is growing and soon people will need an institution which can fulfill their crypto needs.

Bitcoin is Not a Bubble
In an interview with Australian news website News.com.au, Schebesta said that he didn’t care much about the current price of Bitcoin. According to him, people have been calling Bitcoin a bubble when it was worth $10, $100 and even $1,000.

Due to the volatility in the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, people believe that interest in crypto has lessened. However, Schebesta explained that people are only upset at the sudden decline, which doesn’t mean that interest in it has died down. He, like other Bitcoin advocates, believes that Bitcoin bears similarities to gold.

“We just saw a massive spike in retail investors coming on board. That’s why everyone bought and they sold and everyone’s really angry,” said Schebesta. The trick here is to wait and watch the story unfold. Schebesta added that if people still think Bitcoin is worth nothing, they can simply send it to him.

Crypto Bank in Australia
Schebesta said that he is a time traveller and this is the reason why he is successful. He can visit the future and come back to the present to try and follow the steps to achieve something. Luckily, he has seen the future for cryptocurrencies.

Schebesta wants to open a crypto bank in Australia and believes that he could complete this task within 18 months. Since he will need an authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI) license, he will collaborate with an existing Australian bank. Deeming it a :multibillion-dollar idea”, he has already bought shares in Goldfields Money because it is the only bank in Western Australia with an ADI license.

Schebesta said, “As crypto adoption takes off … people are going to [need] certain services [like] custodianship, cold storage, escrow, exchange and spending.” He added that crypto lending would also become a requirement in the upcoming future.

Square Seeing ‘Real Growth’ in Bitcoin User Base: CFO

Square Inc. Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar has hailed the impact of bitcoin support on the company as it continues to record strong growth driven primarily by its flagship Cash App, also known as Square Cash.

In a discussion with Emily Chang on Bloomberg TV, Friar remarked that the company is “super impressed” with their second quarter results, which showed 60 percent top line growth.

When asked about the importance of bitcoin to Square’s performance, she at first sought to downplay it, pointing out that in Dec. 2017 — before crypto support went live — the app recorded seven million monthly active users.

Pressed further, however, she commented:

“There is real growth under the hood because we are a top 30 app in the app store. In fact yesterday we were 15th and we might go even higher toward the end of the week. That’s rarefied air, and that’s a good way to monitor the growth that’s going on on the platform.”

Square’s Utility Strategy
In answer to a question about why the app allows people to buy and sell bitcoin but not send or receive it, Friar revealed that Square’s strategy is to establish the utility of any service before offering it.

In Square’s opinion, it is key to make sure that there is actual demand and use case for a service before building support for it. Providing a platform to buy and sell bitcoin, or pay for transactions with bitcoin, she said, is the easiest route into the market, from where it will be better placed to expand its service offering.

In her words:

“Crypto is just one of many pieces of utility that people want. It’s not the be all and end all that I think we hear a lot on financial news. Rather it’s just like any other form of investing. People want to have access and that’s what Square’s purpose is.”

CCN earlier reported that Square’s cryptocurrency profits experienced a 100 percent growth rate in Q2 2018 despite the overall crypto bear market, indicating that users have established genuine utility in the app that transcends market vagaries and speculative movements.

2018 has been something of a red-letter year for Square in general. In June, CCN reported that it achieved a market capitalization all-time high after being awarded a New York BitLicense.

Notably, CEO Jack Dorsey has been extremely bullish on bitcoin, recently predicting that it will be the world’s leading currency within ten years.
