bitebi9/Cryptsy update:

Shortly after negotiating the language barrier in sending a Support Ticket to bitebi9, my Tek withdrawal was processed and I received this message:

"Thanks for contacting us about issue.
The TEK withdrawal transactions have been released to the block chain.
Sorry for the delayed and thank you kindly for your patience.
If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you!
Joyce"

Joyce?! Hardly a Chinese name. I looked further into the biteb9 website and found this when clicking on the question mark at the top of the Chat screen:

"General Info about Chat:

Blue Names: Moderators
Blue Names with Crowns: Admins
Red Name: Big Vern"

So it looks like bitebi9 is really Cryptsy Mark II. If so, why can bitebi9 process Tek and Cryptsy can't?

Why are Cryptsy Tek wallets still locked in maintenance mode and bitebi9's are not?

Could it be that Cryptsy is expecting the Tek price to rise with the upcoming wallet update?

Are they keeping the Tek wallets locked in order to secretly mint tons of POS interest?

I hope that we are not about to see the market flooded with a mass of Tek from Cryptsy.

Occasionally, over the years, I've spoken up for Paul Vernon. He's upfront and accountable. If the reports are true, and I do take a lot of them with a pinch of salt, then it would seem that Cryptsy is in financial trouble, is suffering from the pressures of US regulation, and is about to go bust.

If that is the case, then the decent thing to do would be to allow people to withdraw their coins in an orderly manner, like BTER did a while ago. To go on receiving deposits in the knowledge that insolvency is inevitable, could constitute a prima facie case for fraud ... and result in a lengthy period in prison.

It's time for Cryptsy to speak up and clarify the situation.

I've been trying an exploratory test drive of the new Cryptsy-style website bitebi9. Bitebi9 copyright the style.

I sent 11 Tek over to bitebi9 from Cryptopia.
Cryptopia processed the Tek withdrawal in less than 60 seconds. Top marks.

Shortly after, the Tek arrived at bitebi9 and went through 75 confirmations before being released as a deposit. I placed 5 Tek up for sale, so all you big spenders out there know where to look! I also made a withdrawal request to send 5.9999 Tek from bitebi9 back to my Cryptopia wallet and confirmed the request by email.

After nearly 3 hours, the bitebi9 withdrawal request is still showing as pending! Now who does that remind you of?!

Now get this: I just tried to issue a Support Ticket and the English language disappeared. It's all in Chinese characters. The first layer is a search knowledge base all in Chinese. The next layer gives the option of issuing a Support Ticket in Chinese with a few English words. [Send], [Cancel] and other essentials are in Chinese. I sent a brief message asking for my withdrawal request to be processed 请处理我的提款请求。

The Tek Blockchain is going through some turbulence again. Difficulty in syncing. Lots of 'False' inputs coming in. I did a restart which cured the syncing problem temporarily. I achieved fully synced status, but now it has drifted off with ~5 blocks remaining and stayed that way. Now ~7 blocks. POW mining has diappeared off the radar according to PressTab's explorer.

Anyone know what the underlying cause of the unstability is?

EDIT: Restarted again. Now fully synced and stable.

EDIT2: POW minining has reappeared on PressTab's explorer.

EDIT3: Just before trying to sync my wallet, I had tried to send some Tek from Cryptopia to bitebi9. Cryptopia reported an error and I couldn't send. I then decided to send Tek from Cryptopia to my wallet, and then to bitebi9, but then encountered the 'turbulence' problem. When that cleared up, I again tried to send Tek from Cryptopia to biteb9 and was successful. Any difficulty in sending, or receiving Tek doesn't seem to have been Crytopia's, or bitebi9's fault, but instead be something to do with the state of the Blockchain at the time.

Yesterday, I bought Tek on Cryptopia and shipped it out to my wallet in a sub-60 seconds processing time. The Cryptopia system works! Use it. Here's my unashamed referral link:

Despite the fud and queries about https://www.bitebi9.com/, it has listed TEK. I am looking forward to the listing on a massive market like China, if you don't understand that stick to banks for your savings return. TEK is quietly getting stronger.

bitebi9 is connected to Cryptsy which makes me a bit wary. I tried registering there, but found it impossible. I don't think that they are open to the public yet. About a week ago, I tried registering with the details I used when registering with Cryptsy. bitebi9 recognised them saying that account was already taken, or something like that. I even used my Cryptsy username and password without registering. Rather than telling me they hadn't been recognised, I was told that my account hadn't been activated yet and to check my email. No activation email was sent though. Looks like Cryptsy are getting ready to fold. Maybe it's a planned move regardless of their current troubles.

If any of you trade on bitebi9 and successfully get your coins out quickly, don't forget to tell us of your experience.

Not ..... I already registered in bitebi9.com with same cryptsy user name and same email...... two different site ....

No. Not not. bitebi9's registration process had changed between both times I tried to register. My email/username was recognised as being 'already taken' the first time I tried to register, but not the second. After the first time I tried to register, I simply entered my Cryptsy details into the login username/password boxes and I received a mesaage that my account was not yet activated - and that was without completing the registration details for that site. Their system has been evolving hastily in my opinion i.e. by going live publicly and ironing out the bugs on the hoof.

I'm now thinking that it might be possible that a Chinese company has bought out Cryptsy in a takeover, or something similar ... speculation I know, but that thought crossed my mind. I will try to register again later.

EDIT: I've successfully registered with bitebi9 https://www.bitebi9.com/users/register?refid=332783 I'm going to send some coins in to test the water.  Wink

I've sent a message to BTER suggesting that it might be a good idea to add HoboNickels to their list of coins. HoboNickels has a good reputation and might bypass the voting process. Hundreds of coins are on the BTER voting list. It's rare that even the coins at the top of the list get accepted. Fingers crossed!

I fully synced up my outstanding 20+ days in around 30 minutes with one restart. The sync did stall once for one minute towards the end, and again for another minute ... when I decided to close and restart. The restart cured any tendency to stall and I was home and dry within a few minutes.  My wallet has stayed pretty stable since then. I'm on a Windows QT wallet, running 64-bit Windows 7. Here's my peer info to correspond with your lines:

Your block "height: 589648" looks like an error. I noticed other possible 'typo' errors in my other readouts. I wonder whether someone has tried to graft an old 'spent' wallet.dat into a new wallet? Attempted doublespend? Fork?

I think that you might have gone through a turbulent period when plenty of orphans were being generated. Looks like TEKcoin: 2.3.0.3 is the beta wallet that Bastilar suggested. My wallet has remained stable and has continued to be fully synced up with no problems.

Price Sch ... mice! Altcoin prices go up and down like all commodities. The main thing is for the Dev team to continue with the good work they have already been doing. The price is secondary to that. O.K. we hit 800 Sats recently and then settled in at around 300. Now the drop. That's because not enough people know how prolific Sprouts can be! The current price is good in one way in that it makes it easier for more new investors to buy a decent stake at low cost. As I've said before in the other Sprouts thread: the more, the merrier!

I for one will looking for the Dev Team to keep us regularly updated on progress. That is key.

This reminds me of when Netcoin went to 27 sat before going to 600+!

There are still lots of good things happening with Sprouts, Cryptsy isn't helping matters, and the Bitcoin price going up is getting a lot of ppl to want to sell. It's kind of the perfect storm for price drop. All I can say is take advantage of it because the price will shoot up hugely once the inflation control is added soon. This is a very active coin with new features in the works and new uses being added.

Get it while the gettin is good!  Cheesy

I agree. The price will take of itself. The main thing is that the Devs keep up the good work. This coin was a 800 Sats not so long ago ago. The new low price will encourage more to come in with an affordable decent stake. The more that come in, the merrier.

Having said that, I will say this - I believe it important that the Dev Team keep their eyes on the ball and give regular updates on progress.

Seems like Polo might be the way to go at least for a starters.  How are the expericnes with them? I used them about 6 months ago with HYP, seemed ok then. Still good?

I'll draft some type of proposal for them, perhaps we will need to get a bounty as well.

I'm thinking of trying Cryptopia out it looks interesting, but I really don't know.  Poloniex has worked well for me in the past but I haven't used it recently.  Polo seems to be courting a more intimate relationship of the “I'll tickle your feet if you tickle mine” variety where you can't make any withdrawals unless you disclose all your private parts.  Cheesy

Quote terms: “Poloniex may, from time to time, implement policies restricting Verification Levels by nationality, country of residence, or any other factor. This may affect your ability to withdraw funds in your account and you indemnify Poloniex against any losses associated with an inability to deposit and/or withdraw funds based on your verification level.”

I've heard that the 20 richest people in the USA now own more wealth than the lower half of the US population and it is obvious that they have the strong arm of the US government behind them or there would be a more equitable tax structure.  Therefor I conclude that Polo might be enticed to close and clam up like Crypsty, so unfortunately I don't think it is worth the effort to get started there if it is going to cost much imho.

As you can probably gather from my previous posts, my experience with Cryptopia has been a good one. When you transact out, you get a little pop up message saying something like: 'this withdrawal request will be processed within 60 seconds'. I haven't come across a time when it hasn't.

To my mind, Poloniex would be a sideways move. I like Major Max's BTER suggestion.

Yes... Many exchanges review the trading volume regularly. The volume in HBN is unlikely to be large in the forseeable future. Best to take enough time to get onto a couple of stable exchanges, and continue to monitor exchange requirements. BTER has been around a while and does distinguish between new/small/large coins.

I think that we should use Cryptopia https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/ and make a concerted effort to go for BTER https://bter.com/ref/218277. That would give HoboNickels full on exposure to the Chinese and Asian Markets as well as to those in the West.

what will happen when the coin arrives to 200 million coins  issued, the only reward will be the fees?

Nothing will happen. Sprouts will continue sprouting as it has done before. NoobKidOnTheBlock just plucked that 200 million figure out of the air to highlight that Sprouts is in a healthy state inflationwise compared to some other coins. Some are concerned that if there is too much inflation of the coin supply, Sprouts will lose value. A simple case of supply and demand.

https://www.bitebi9.com/markets/view/TEK_CNY

bitebi9 is a start up company within the Bao Luo Technology Company Ltd., Dalian, China. It is interesting because the only fiat featured there is Chinese CNY. Apparently you can buy BTC cheaper there. Lots of other coins are listed besides BTC and Tek.

The exchange looks like a Cryptsy subsidiary. mmmmmmm ... I wonder. Well worth encouraging in my book.
#$%^ that. Bitebi9 is either affiliated with Cryptsy or is ripping them off - both valid reasons to stay the hell away.
Possibly. Despite my run-ins with Cryptsy, I still trust them. They've been around a long time, and in that time they have pushed the boundaries. I can understand why others that might not share my opinion, but that's all it is. My opinion.

bitebi9 looks like it could very well be a Cryptsy subsidiary. It would make sense for them to relocate and reform outside the USA. Cryptsy could then avoid the heavy regulation it is currently experiencing. Regarding the other US-based exchanges, I think that there will also be a move to relocate and reform away from the United States, because of the increasing pressures from the banking system to regulate cryptocoins. Polionex, for instance, cannot now process trades from residents of the State of New York. The banks, and other powers that be, will want to introduce centralised digital currency transactions for all soon, and phase fiat out. Decentralised cryptocurrencies are an obstacle in their way.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: December 12, 2015, 12:18:28 AM
So what do we do now? start a fund? I have no idea who to bribe Sad

I think we should be calm and proceed in a measured way. Most HoboNickels holders keep their main stash intact and only occasionally siphon off a proportion of their POS interest. This doesn't normally constitute a great amount. That is why the price has held. HoboNickels are valued and stored away.

For that moderate HBN volume, Cryptopia is a good, stable exchange. It has had HBN listed there for quite some time now https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/. OK the volume of HBN there is not great, but whose fault is that? I like Cryptopia because it is not based in the United States and is less prone to regulatory turbulence. As an example of that turbulence, as from August 2015, Poloniex cannot process trades from anyone resident in the State of New York. US regulation could get worse.

Why don't we try the Chinese-based exchange bitebi9  www.bitebi9.com/
Thundertoe has been successful in getting Tekcoin listed there. bitebi9 is a new start up company within the Bao Luo Technology Company Ltd., Dalian, China. They might like HBN on their books too.

Chinese CNY is the only fiat currency on bitebi9, but apparently you can buy BTC cheaper there than you can in the West. The exchange looks like a Cryptsy subsidiary. I wonder whether this is a planned Cryptsy move? Maybe other US exchanges will be forced relocate due to the increasing pressures from the banking sector.

Another exchange I have used and can recommend is https://yobit.net/en/  I think Yobit is based in Russia, but I'm not sure. Like Cryptopia, Yobit processes transactions quickly. A refreshing change from Cryptsy. And then again, Cryptsy hasn't folded yet. According to Paul Vernon it is still working hard to resolve outstanding issues. Cryptsy could bound back stronger than ever.

Cryptsy has locked the Tekcoin wallet and claims there is something wrong with the Tekcoin block chain. Is this true or is this another example of suspicious activity at Cryptsy?

no word yet.

Thundertoe > there's a typo in the url you posted for the new exchange listing Tek. You've gone into overdrive with your wwwwws! You've put 4 instead of 3. People using Firefox have been getting untrusted connection warnings! Here's the corrected url:

The checkpoint warning is a standard throwback and most top POS coins have it. The main thing to do with all POS coins is to fully sync the wallet before opening it for POS minting. Another thing that might throw off novice holders of Peercoin-based wallets using Windows XP is the "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)". This error warning is another throwback that can be ignored. If any XP user wants to be rid of the error here's my post from the other Sprouts thread:

Help for Windows XP users

Some people using Windows XP have reported the "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)" pop-up when opening the Sprouts wallet. This is because the "Microsoft TCP/IP version 6" protocol is not generally pre-installed in XP (it is with Windows 7 and higher). While this is a common error and you can just ignore it, it is dead easy to correct. What you have to do is find your Network Connections Folder and add the listed "Microsoft TCP/IP version 6" protocol. Here's how to do it:

From your [DESKTOP] screen,
click on the [START] button in the bottom left hand corner. Then
click on [CONTROL PANEL]. Then
double click on [NETWORK CONNECTIONS]. Then
double click on the active [LOCAL AREA CONNECTION] icon, or the active [WIRELESS NETWORK] icon for a wireless connection. Then
in the General Tab click on the [PROPERTIES] button. Then
click on the [INSTALL] button. Then
click on the [PROTOCOL] icon so that it is highlighted. Then
click on the [ADD] button. Then
click on the listed ["Microsoft TCP/IP version 6"] protocol so that it is highlighted. Then
click on the [OK] button.
Wait for it to install. The [GENERAL] tab window will reappear.
Close all the open windows and you are done. No more 10047 error pop-ps!

This solution will also work on the wallets of other altcoins, running on Windows XP, showing the same, annoying "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)" pop-up.

I don't think that the total coin supply is the problem at the moment. For me, the problem is that we are producing coins too quickly. People are minting large amounts and flooding the exchanges - there are not enough people into Sprouts at the moment. This is a new coin with good potential. We need to spread the word to others.

An earlier contributor to this thread suggested changing the POS payout from 2% per day to 1% per day. I'm inclined to agree with him.

Well you were attacking a coin I had invested in, so like a mirror I reflected back at you. Seriously, I think you need to get some help. I know the signs of mental illness and I now believe that you could be unwell. I'm not trying to score points here. You are obviously intelligent and have a great imagination. Please just don't bother getting into arguments with Hippie Tech in this thread.  He has made an incorrect association of Tranz with Horus/jdtmp4.  It isn't important.

If you were ever on Cryptsy chat back in 2013 you would know jdtmp4 as the god damn annoying guy always begging for people to give him crypto...somehow he became a cult celebrity.  Out of that HBN was originally created by Cryptsy friends of jdtmp4 for fun/joke.  Eventually it was pretty much abandoned and Tranz took it over and made it awesome.  And here we are today...

Simple answer:  Tranz not equal jdtmp4.
Proof:
Tranz...1) amazing coding work for HBN and CAPs.  2) Never asks for anything for himself or his benefit.
jdtmp4/Horus...only abilities are 1) to beg for crypto 2) add the word 'brother' at the end of every sentence in cryptsy chat and 3) he makes a mean bowl of Kraft Dinner with hot dog weiners bites.

I saw your post, but decided it was important to respond to that creep. I think most people realise what he is. From what you are saying, I wouldn't be surprised if Hippy Tech is Horus.

I've been a HoboNickels holder and trader for a long time now. It is, to my mind, an outstanding coin and has repaid my investment +. I agree with you that when Tranz took over, he took what was there and made it awesome! He must have seen the potential. Tranz for me is the top altcoin developer. I don't think many in the POS altcoin world would quibble with that.
