141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I recover my fund wity seeds, if I encrypted and backup my wallet previously on: July 31, 2019, 02:32:39 AM
1. You can choose between two backups:
  • Recovery seed backup. This is the 12-24 words you write down.
  • A keystore file. You can save it on your computer, and secure it with a good password.

2. You can use either one of the two backups to restore your wallet.
142  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: July 30, 2019, 10:21:01 AM
  • The learning curve (pretty steep)

Precisely. Bitcoin in itself is quite complicated enough for the typical non computer literate person. LN is going to be a lot harder to use for them. Hence my point of the challenge here is mostly on the user experience category.
143  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Criticisms of the Lightning Network on: July 30, 2019, 10:13:08 AM
Mostly here and especially on r/Bitcoin, I've been seeing mostly, around 95%, positivity when it comes to the lightning network.

I'm just curious. For a change, let us look at the negatives. What are your criticisms concerning the Lightning Network? Do you think it's likely to succeed?

Personally, I think it's likely to succeed, though I think it will take a lot longer than people are expecting. I think it's going to be difficult for the developers to make LN easy enough to use for the end users, to the point that they couldn't even differentiate if they're using LN or just normal transactions.
144  Economy / Services / Re: [1 OPEN* SLOT] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: July 29, 2019, 03:30:57 AM
There are other requirements, but at least you have to be a Senior Member (the first inclusive criterion) before starting to consider other requirements of this open slot.
You're lecturing me as if I was trying to apply.  Roll Eyes Get your post count somewhere else.
145  Other / Meta / Re: Will Merits get wasted if the account is banned? on: July 21, 2019, 04:24:58 PM
Can he transfer to others?

If we were able to transfer merits after a ban, where would your "friend" transfer his old merits?  Huh

147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Creating more bitcoin on: July 11, 2019, 05:02:23 PM
For that to happen, consensus is going to be needed. The developers can't simply just change the number then boom we have a billion bitcoins. If they could simply do that just by changing values in the code, then bitcoin is fucked.

Not to mention that a hardfork is going to be needed to achieve this, so it's extremely unlikely.
148  Other / Meta / Re: Banned, I didn't break any rules on: July 05, 2019, 05:38:41 PM
Take a quick look around the Meta section and take a look at the people complaining that they got banned without breaking any rules. Specifically, plagiarism.

What do they have in common? Yep. 99% actually committed plagiarism.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The time of seriousness is disappearing on: July 02, 2019, 09:52:29 AM
the price is falling a lot and when I see this forecast, I get more angry with those analysts who only make the wrong predictions (their predictions seem like a big joke)

 Angry

That's your problem right there. For someone who has been registered since 2016 and is in one of the best and respected signature campaigns, you should've known better to not listen to these so called "analysts" and "experts".

If you can't even get accepted to the Stake campaign knowing their spam practices, then there might something be wrong with you.

I would like to take part in this camping again. If I'm taken back to this camping then I'll try to post better quality.

152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remember when transactions were slow and expensive on the last bull run(2017)? on: June 24, 2019, 02:14:06 AM
P2SH transactions won't necessarily save you money on fees. P2SH ≠ Segwit. P2SH is just a type of output comprising a hashed script.

Thanks for the heads up. Should've given more emphasis on SegWit.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] 10 Million Dollar Bitcoin End Game on: June 24, 2019, 01:25:50 AM
During the first few seconds of his video he said that he will tell why he think that Bitcoin will reach 10 million dollars but he didn't really answer when or even why Bitcoin will become "10 Million dollars" in the future he instead put up a bunch of past interview videos on telling that it will become 10 million dollars. But this was a nice video showing the two sides of Bitcoin which the ones who supports and the ones who oppose like Jaimie Dimon and Brad Sherman, I was just hoping that he had answered his own question at the end.

True. I didn't mind though, as I wasn't really interested in the reasoning anyway because it's all price speculation. I just saw the title as a sort of click bait.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Remember when transactions were slow and expensive on the last bull run(2017)? on: June 23, 2019, 03:41:22 PM
One contributing reason why the mempool got really congested in the bull run of 2017 is because of the lack of SegWit support from the exchanges and from the bitcoin users in general. While SegWit adoption is a lot higher this year, it's still nowhere close to 100%. So please, just so the same won't happen like in 2017, use a wallet that supports any of these two:
  • P2SH addresses (3xxxx...)
  • Bech32 addresses (bc1xxxx...)

Not to mention that you're going to save a significant amount of satoshis when you transact quite frequently(when using P2SH or Bech32).

Great open-source wallets that support either address type includes:

Do your part ladies and gentlemen.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] 10 Million Dollar Bitcoin End Game on: June 23, 2019, 03:26:08 PM
We are too focused on different coins and tokens that are popping out everywhere.

A lot of people are going to feel stupid once 95% of the altcoins dies simply due to them being really completely unnecessary.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [VIDEO] 10 Million Dollar Bitcoin End Game on: June 23, 2019, 09:02:33 AM
Just watched this video just recently because of it annoyingly appearing multiple times on my YouTube feed. In my opinion, it's probably a great short documentary(44 mins) to send to people if someone you know wanted to know what bitcoin is(non technical). It's a good one if you ask me.

NOTE: While the title sounds like the video is focused on the market value of Bitcoin, it's not.

Documentary includes:
  • Central banks and hyperinflation
  • Where Bitcoin comes in/The point of Bitcoin
  • Common misconceptions and the similar complaints with past technologies
  • Positive statements of multiple big names about Bitcoin
  • How Bitcoin is slowly but surely creeping in into the mainstream
  • etc

While most of the Bitcoin veterans most likely knows already 99% of what's discussed in this video, it's still a decent video to get more pumped up with the future of Bitcoin.

NOTE: Video is not mine and I am in no way affiliated with the creator.
157  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Want to achieve success in trading? on: June 19, 2019, 11:30:49 AM
Wow! Thanks Coin-Desk! You pretty much reposted what people have been saying about trading pretty much everywhere! Appreciate it a lot! +420!
158  Other / Meta / [Discussion] The introduction and enforcement of [TAGS] on: June 18, 2019, 07:36:23 AM
I'm quite sure that this has been suggested at least once in the past and a few people are using tags when posting topics, but anyway:

Potential advantages:
  • Less clickbait
  • For the topics to be more organized
  • Probably enabling a sorting functionality?

Tags include:
  • [Discussion] or [D]
  • [Announcement] or [A]
  • [Question] or [Q]
  • [Help] or [H]
  • [Guide] or [G]
  • etc

I've been through a few mostly gaming communities and subreddits in the past with such a system, and it worked really well. I really couldn't think of a negative side-effect if this gets enforced here on Bitcointalk.

An admin can add a short message below the Subject text field to inform people of this new rule when creating a topic.

Probably unlikely to have something similar to the current version of Bitcointalk, but probably something similar with the newer Epochtalk version when it's ready.

Criticisms are very welcome.
159  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for Top Cloud Mining Referral and Help on: June 14, 2019, 03:32:55 AM
2) If you survive trashing you will get a large number of replies, mainly made for signature quota reasons, telling you "all cloud mining is scam" or words to that effect.

"all cloud mining is a scam"

You're welcome.
160  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk 10 Year anniversary coin/token? on: June 13, 2019, 04:36:53 PM
At first I thought this topic was about digital coins/tokens concerning Bitcointalk. I was ready to lose my shit and talk trash to OP. Well done to the designs though.
