141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 22, 2019, 12:52:15 PM
With the official Franck Ribery to Fiorentina. Will make Serie A even more interesting for the coming season.

Reported by Italian Football, Ribery will receive a salary of 4 million euros per season on a two-year contract.

Fiorentina has recruited 5 players, that means Fiorentina is very ready to compete with big Italian clubs.

One of the sweetest transfers of the window. Ribery was one hell of a player back in the days and I just wish for him to spend a nice time in Italy.

But does his transfer to Fiorentina mean that the team will count in the fight for Champions League? I wouldn't be so sure. The team has at least a couple of interesting youngsters together with some veterans. In theory, it looks pretty interesting but we all know what's the difference between theory and practice.

I think that's what it says on the cover of today's L'equipe newspaper:

(source)

IMO that's the dumbest news I've heard in this transfer window. Does anyone actually believe that Real Madrid made that offer and, not just that, but that PSG rejected it? Really dissapointed on L'equipe for releasing such garbage article.

Do you think that Real Madrid won't make an offer for Neymar after all? I'm not saying that they actually made an offer but I wouldn't rule out that scenario in the future.

Real Madrid is Real Madrid. Florentino Perez is Florentino Perez. They will always fight for the right, possibility and pure pleasure of making a mess for Barcelona. That's just what they do. And vice versa.

If I had to bet a house on Neymar's future, I'd bet on Barcelona, though Real Madrid is - oh, the irony - absolutely a real option.

Well, I think that this thread is a part of an eternal discussion: do you treat gambling as a hobby or as a way of making money? If you want some thrill and you don't care about money, then surely, you don't have to work your ass off.

Though if you want to be successful, you have to spend time on your research and figuring out the best way to participate in different kinds of gambling activities. No matter if is it poker, dice, sports betting or anything else.

Everything in life needs knowledge and skills. Gambling is not an exception, even though that for gambling you need some luck from time to time.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: August 22, 2019, 09:42:49 AM
Dont underrate Greece man - I dont think that Spain is stronger than us this year... Yes, after the friendly loss vs Serbia we went down in the FIBA Power Rankings to 5th place but thats not correct... Cheesy Sloukas will most likely be able to participate, he is on a good way and a great player.

I really didn't see Greece games recently, maybe besides some videos with Giannis' block parties, so could you tell me is this team something more than The Freak himself? The MVP is really great and versatile but are this his colleagues at least decent? What can we expect from this team?

And as for the outrights: normally I wouldn't bet on another scenario than the USA winning the tournament, though let's look at the squad of Gregg Popovich's side. Are there any real superstars? Kemba is great, Khris Middleton was great in last season, Mitchell Donovan, Jayson Tatum and Kyle Kuzma probably will be the greats but does this team blow minds? No, absolutely not. One NBA champion (Harrison Barnes), three All-Stars (Walker, Middleton and Brook Lopez) and that's that.

If you look closely and analyze the team, it does have the deepness and it's a really interesting mix of practically everything (3pointers, defense, athleticism, pure shooters, role players) but is it worth the World Cup? I have my doubts. I don't remember when the last time USA Basketball Team had as weak team as nowadays. At least on paper.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 22, 2019, 09:18:07 AM

We could get some interesting groups like Liverpool-Real-Inter-Galatasaray.

To be honest any team with Liverpool and RM in group could be death one. Many combinations and calculation on this but this time I could expect to see maybe more. It could be MNC RM Inter and some other fourth club. Many combinations for so called death group. We will have to wait for 29th this month to see groups in both CL and EL.

And isn't it what are we waiting for? Two superteams, two teams that think of the comeback from the dead. Group stages have to be more interesting because that's what the Champions League was made for. To be interesting. Do you remember last year's drama in groups with Liverpool, PSG and Napoli or with Barcelona, Tottenham and Inter? Groups of deaths are very important in Champions League's early stages. Although this product sells by itself, big emotions are needed.

They don't need a lot of vet, Lebron James alone is enough because he won many championships already and in the playoffs, he usually hold the ball and make plays. Lebron just need a consistent player who can fill their roles, and whether they'll get Noah or Howard, it doesn't matter anymore, as long as both will play the way they showed in the best games of their career.

Totally agreed. LeBron is the team player and he makes his teammates better but the most important thing is: do these players really want to get better under him?

It worked out in Cleveland twice (Kyrie wouldn't be THE Kyrie without LeBron, K-Love would've dreamed of playoffs without LeBron), it worked out in Miami but it didn't work out in LA. Was it because of the attitude of the young core or The King himself? I think that both sides are to blame.
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: August 22, 2019, 08:40:37 AM
Barcelona looks as lame as possible without Messi on the pitch and with Valverde on the bench. The club doesn't have ideas for this season, except focusing on Leo or buying Neymar.

The front four, even the front five (counting Dembele) could be the best that the football has ever seen in the matter of talent and the moment of careers of all players. Rijkaard's Barca had R10, Leo, Eto'o and Henry but each player was in the different moment of its career. The team that Barca could have would be composed of five players that are near to their prime. Maybe expect Suarez who's 32-year-old.

And all of that talent will be probably managed by Valverde, one of the biggest disgraces in the club's history. What an irony.
