My reaction to this spike

Not sure if pump-and-dump or breakout.
Need at least a week of volume to confirm.
144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss twins: Bitcoin will be bigger than Facebook on: May 20, 2014, 01:34:35 AM
I'm not saying that they're lying but since they invested so much, it should probably be assumed that they are optimists, and might not notice things that could counter their optimism.

In fact every time I read a bullish bitcoin article lately, it's usually from one of three people:  winklevoss,  barry silbert, or bobby lee. It's getting old. I'd like to see it from someone else, preferably who is new to bitcoin.
Glenn Beck is new.  Grin

My new view of the market:

I wouldn't be suprised to see flat for an entire year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that you're fucking wrong for the 10th time.
Remember your case-in-point during October?

Anyone who thinks bitcoin is staying 500 for a year is delusional. You're not fooling anyone.

Yes I could be wrong. My type of assertion is 'I wouldn't be suprised' and you don't see me placing any bets do you. And why do you think I'm trying to 'fool' someone? What motive could I possibly have for claiming the market will be flat?
You drew a flat line back in October 2013, and you drew a flat line now, have you ever asked yourself that in order for your prediction to be so dead wrong back then, that there must be some personal bias, or fundamentals that you've yet to grasp?

Here's a question: what makes you think prices will flatline around 500, with the huge out turn of adoption news capped off by a possible exchange or two opening in the US?

To those who keeps repeating "person X is not investing in bitcoin directly"... what makes you so sure?

I am somewhat sure, because looking at the exchange data for the last few weeks, I am yet to witness any bulk buying deals. He may have bought a few hundred coins, but he is not buying any five-figure or six-figure number of coins.
Somewhat sure? Now you're starting to second-guess yourself.

Looking at exchange data for bulk-buying deals is akin looking at the sky for fish... which is what you're doing.

Why would any person with half-a-brain put that kind of money through an exchange post-EmptyGox when they can broker the deal directly with discretion? Why?

The reason you don't witness bulk buying deals is because they don't want you to know it... Why would places like BitPay or even miners, disclose their client info? Hint: it would be financial suicide.

Ka-Shing, as rich as he is, doesn't want anyone to know that he has thousands of bitcoins--if he has them. Why? Hack target. There is no good reason for Branson, Miller, and Ka-Shing to divulge how much is in their VC wallet. Most whales don't broadcast how much coins they bought or where they got it from, for security reasons alone.

I mean, if I invested in bitcoin infrastructure, you bet your poor ass I would have more than a few bitcoins trailing me, but I wouldn't announce it to the world to spike the prices up as I'm buying it. Makes sense?

150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 07:42:19 AM
No.

Because Math:

If... µBit = µBTC, then Bit = BTC??

Popular consensus:

Bit == µBTC
151  Economy / Speculation / Re: Joint statement by 5 chinese exchanges (they will keep operating) on: May 07, 2014, 06:30:28 AM
Whatever hurts the Chinese exchanges, can only be good for BTC in the West in the long run.

To curb excessive speculation and protect small investors a fee will be levied on HFT(high frequency trading). The five major exchanges will discuss a rate which will be used across all five platforms.
No more scumbag fake volume? Yes please.
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] What are the predictions on the bottom? on: May 06, 2014, 07:42:12 AM
I'd like to see the market visit sub-400 to shake out the weak hands, bring in new speculators, and more coins for me.

You have to be a certain height to ride the Bitcoin Roller Coaster...

See all the kids who fell off the ride? Yeah, that's right, grown-ups only.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you trust somebody on this forum? on: May 05, 2014, 11:10:44 PM
People not to trust: Anyone who says bitcoin will fail. Sounds a bit overzealous? Maybe... but here's my rationale:

Kinds of people who say bitcoin will fail on this forum:

1 - Traders / Shorters - Self-explanatory. They gotta do what they gotta do.
2 - Paid trolls / Bank shills - Prostitutes for banks, 'nuff said
3 - Alt-Crypto Developers - "Ripple, NEM, NXT!" Cute.

I might be missing a few categories, but that just about sums up the big three and not trusting anything they post.

Yes former Google employees created twitter.

And don't forget former Microsoft employees created Steam.
