141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AC] AsiaCoin | Back on all Exchanges | Premine Voided | Multipool Ready on: May 16, 2014, 12:02:15 PM
is this such a big problem setting up a multipool?
anybody knows if there is some open source multipool software to use? I have read something about MPOS , but I do not know, if there is automatic trading implemented.

I can offer my server for this. I don't think you need much power for this type of machine. I can also install and host this shit.

regards
shahim

There are no open source multipool software, only normal pools, we've already implemented the normal pool functionality. That's why we need to implement our own profit-switching / auto-trading mechanism which takes time. It took most coins weeks to implement their multipool. We're working as hard as we can.

In the meantime, head over to HashCows and use their multipool which supports AC payouts.

I'm talking to an X11 multipool to discuss prospects of adding AC payouts, will keep everyone posted.

My first stake didn't come through but another did? Any idea why this happened?

Just a few posts earlier:

Guys, about staking.

PoS (and PoW) are stochastic processes, it means there's a certain element of luck involved. If you see other PoS coin threads, the same questions has been continuously asked. PoS staking is like PoW mining, it's not a bank-style interest rate, it's a competition between minters to stake a block so the more people stake, the less likely it will be to find a block quickly. You can see the PoS difficulty by using the getdifficulty command from the debug console.

The stake rate (for all coins) refers to the amount of staking you receive when a mature block of coins that you have is staking another block, and the time it takes to stake it.

For example, if you have a block of 1000 AC with mature coins staking, and it takes 10 days to mint a new block, your old 1000 AC block is destroyed and you will get two payments in smaller blocks, each around 513.5 AC, adding to 1027 AC, or a 2.7% increase in 10 days, which is the same as 100% increase in a year. Once this happens, the new block age will be zero.

This is basically how PoS works. If you have a larger staking block, it will mint a block sooner (maybe within minutes of starting to stake), if you have a smaller one, it will take longer, maybe many days but your interest rate is calculated by the amount it took to stake the block. There are lots of PoS articles out there that explain this in detail.

Hi I am mining with hashcow since this morning to support AC , but do not see any results except accepted shares. But no AC or whatever.

anybody knows how long it takes to get the first reward?

thnx

I don't mine but I'm sure others will reply, maybe you get faster response if you ask it on their thread?

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: May 15, 2014, 10:08:45 AM
'Flower Technology products’ newly announced capability to mine Scrypt-N coins is revolutionary, though you may not have yet realized why. Scrypt-N coins, such as Vertcoin, were developed to counter the imminent influx of efficient ASICs miners to the Scrypt-based cryptocurrency market. Scrypt-N is a different algorithm than Scrypt, but our engineers have brilliantly tweaked our product to be able to mine either variety of coin. We are now able to offer our customers financial mitigation against the forthcoming flood of Scrypt-based coins to the market by offering the world’s first and only Scrypt-N ASIC miner, securing your Scrypt-N investment up to a difficulty of N=16384'

Time for Vert to change algo?

That's just either a lie, or something with significant performance compromise (like 10x-20x lower n-factor 11 performance per watt/dollar compared to n-factor 10, maybe 100x slower for n=12, 1000x slower for n=13). Notice they don't even report a hashrate for it. In essence that ASIC will end up being more expensive per hashrate than a GPU for n=11.

When making a Scrypt ASIC, they need to fix it for a specific n, r and p factors to get optimial results. Scrypt-n changes n, which handles the memory requirement, memory which is hardwired in an ASIC to Scrypt specifications. As the n-factor goes higher, the memory requirement also goes higher, and there goes the cost of building an ASIC. The ASIC price rises exponentially to keep its relative edge over GPUs.

Changing the PoW function is not a trivial thing to do, there's no need to react to imaginary threats. ASIC Resistance is a comparative measurement, means how difficult and expensive it is for the algorithm to be implemented in ASIC, and both Scrypt-n and Scrypt-jane (among a few others) are far more ASIC resistant than X11. I like that VTC dropped the "ASIC Resistant" for "Beats ASIC".

New AsiaCoin Blockchain Explorer up and running!

Actually, it has been up and running since yesterday evening Wink

Note that the explorer is new tech, unrelated to ABE or other explorer, and was mostly dealing with Proof Of Work cryptos so far. Things like extraction & difficulty are featured prominently, but aren't too relevant for Proof Of Stake, so suggestions on UI improvements are welcome:

Tips & Bounties appreciated at [READ ORIGINAL POST] or BTC [READ ORIGINAL POST] to help cover the hosting costs, thanks! Smiley

Thanks Fairglu.

Friends, he did not charge us for the block explorer so please be generous with donations (and always get the donation address from the original post, not a quoted post).

You can now mine at HachCows and get payouts in AsiaCoin.

All you need to do is to sign up, head to 'User Info' -> Account Settings, and select AC from the dropdown.

Payouts are expected to happen at around 3:30 UTC every day.

Dear Community,

I want to confirm that our secondary block explorer is also up and running and ready for public release:

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/ac/#!rich

I want to thank fairglu for setting this up for us.

Note: He did not ask for anything for his efforts, as we only cover server costs. So please don't forget to send a generous donation his way, I will donate from my personal wallet too. His donation address is at the bottom of the block explorer, also on the OP.

Will my coins get staked on cryptsy or mintpal automatically?

Your coins will stake, but the exchange will not pay you the stake and will keep it for themselves. So if you want to get that huge interest rate for the first 4 months, you need to have the coins in your own wallet.

Thank you. One more question:

Year 1, Month 1-2 : 100%
Year 1, Month 3-4 : 80%

Does this mean that for the first two months I get an ANNUAL 100% return, or it is 100% for the first two months, and then 80% for the next two months with a compounding interest (compounding on the basis when the wallet receives stake payments)?

In the latter case I would have triple my coins after 4 months, this is why I doubt it. In the former case the return on 100k coins is like 20k coins in 2 months.

It is annual rate.

Question:

Case:
Day 1 : Deposit 100,000 AC to Address A with 1 transaction.
Day 14 : Unlock the wallet of Address A and get 100 AC stake.
Day 14 and after : Wallet always unlocked.

In the above case, when will Address A get the next stake? After Day 28?
Is it possible to get the 2nd stake between Day 15 and Day 27?

You receive staking payments regularly, multiple times per hour in small amounts.

I just want to confirm that our secondary block explorer is also in the works and will be up and running very soon! Stay tuned.

The balance in my wallet is different from block explorer. Does anyone have the same problem? Got more than 250k AC in my wallet, but not shown on rich list between top 100 to 200.

How many addresses do you have? Generally you may have multiple addresses with funds that you received with each of them, the block explorer will treat them as separate as there's no way to know they belong to you but your wallet can access all of them. This is usually the reason.

And it's the first coin that is reviewed by all exchanges!

That's a good point.  Worth pointing out  Smiley

This should feature on the OP, its a big vote of confidence and I hadn't thought about that way before.  Now that mrdennis86 has pointed it out, we should advertise that fact.  People always (quite rightly) need to be careful when placing their trust in this altcoin world.  Having such open devs, the ability to check the code yourself AND code sign-off from so many exchanges creates a lot of trust.

Added tho the OP. Thanks mrdennis86 and Xuorc.

Dude, it is nice to try to be fair but what's the point of your currency ?

No point. We did it just to kill time, same as every other currency.

Seriously, AC attracted interest because of its unique characteristics, like continental theme, being fair unlike other location-coins, long maturation time for staking and very high interest rate. Every single thing that makes it unique and attractive is the point of the coin.

Thanks for information.

Do I get stakes everyday?

I have my coins for two weeks now in a mac wallet. The first day after the update I got 139 AC. Then now for 48 hours nothing.
Is this normal?

You get stakes continuously in small transactions as you get them (similar to solo mining). No it's not normal, you need to unlock your wallet (post screenshots if you have further questions so we can see the status).

On Pool.mn: we've been trying to contact them about the delay in AC payouts, hopefully we get a reply soon.

Can anybody tell meplease how much should I stake around with 193 K a day?

Thanks for information.

It's 0.27% per day, so it will be 521.1 AC per day (the extra that you will stake will itself be eligible to stake even more AC after 2 weeks).

Dear community

The first phase of the project is done. AsiaCoin is now, by any measure, ahead of what it was a week ago before the news of the premine hit. We are back on all exchanges, something a lot of our critics and doubters said will never happen, but this great community made it possible.

But this is just the beginning. We do have a lot of plans for the long-term success of AsiaCoin, these plans include major advancements in development and marketing but this cannot be done without the help of the community. We all saved AsiaCoin, and now we all need to work together to bring it forward. If you would like to join the foundation and help us, regardless of your experience or skills, contact us. You will not only help out AsiaCoin but this will be a great learning experience too.

how to use this?
What can it do?

Could be used for cold-storage, could be used to carry around with your public key to receive AC from others, you could have two for example, one for public and one for private key. While you carry your public key around you keep the private key in a safe place, so your coins are safe in any way. It's more of a luxury rather than something really functional and practical. One could argue you could use a paper to the same effect (or a picture on your phone), though it won't be as classy or durable as a wooden wallet.

Read their FAQ:
https://woodwallets.io/faq/

Basically its a wallet that u can carry around and u can pay via it. Until we have an android wallet this is the next best thing, similar to a credit card

You can't pay with a wooden wallet, it's your private key written there, you don't share your private key with others.
