If there is need donation for the marketing or new competition or just any good reason, just ask.

I will buy in the near future more UTC and could donate some if needed.

Hello everyone,

I have been a little busy this week with hurricane prep and am currently traveling outside the state on bussiness, but any free time I have will go towards addressing any concerns. As far as the front page and website, as soon as I have access to a computer I will update the links to avoid confusion (currently operating from my mobile phone). Expect that to be soon.

As far as Bittrex is concerned I have already been in contact with them over the past few weeks and given our tenure it is unreasonable to believe we will be delisted, however we do need to raise volume for a mutually beneficial relationship. I am confident that after the fork is complete we will see a resurgence in volume and can begin shifting our focus on marketing. I have prospects on a full time social media marketeer to join the Ultracoin Team among other avenues of exposure. I also plan to buy enough Ultracoin over the next few days to spur volume and overcome our volume requirement with Bittrex, albeit this will be a temporary solution. Ultracoin and Bittrex have a working relationship I only hope to improve moving forward, know that any delisting warnings or notices are automaticly generated and are not final.

Sincerely,

Steven "Rapture" Nekhaila

You are right, links should update asap and we need new updated roadmap.
We need more volume.
Seems like something is happening,, volume is rising.
Iam going to buy some. UTC is still cheap.

Am I just missing the link to the source or is the new wallet only available in binary format for windows?

Good thinks coming,
Valpe

With the fork being scheduled soon and the situation with Bittrex, I'm a bit surprised that it's so hard to find the new wallet. It will quickly get buried here in this thread. Why is the links not updated on the first page of this thread (the wallet linked there is several versions old!)? On the website? No releases on the github page? Will just make it harder for users, miners and exchanges to update their wallets when the only "release" is a single post in this thread, and the success of the fork is kind of relying on this...

Cheesy
Could you send wallet address? 10 k UTC coming.

Valpe

Hi Valpe

Yes its good news indeed.

I see a bit of a stirring there on Bittrex.

I think I will re-announce the contest when the new wallet comes out. Always happy to add your 10k to the existing 25k pot.

Stand by for some positive action over the next month or two - and beyond.

Cheers - usukan

Thanks !
Very good.

Indeed we need to get some volume. I am going to buy some really cheap UTC.

Should we re announce our competition. Or make new one. I could donate some UTC +10000. What you think?

Valpe

UPDATE

I am pleased to advise that we have completed wallet testing.  We will now have PressTab make a final tweak and assemble it into an installer package.

We will release to stakeholders asap - notably Bittrex and the community.

Bittrex has been contacted by both Steven and myself - everything should be fine - but we do need to get some volume going to make it interesting for Bittrex to keep us on.  Once the new wallet is out I doubt this will be an issue.

Cheers - usukan

Thanks for your support to UTC!

UTC will be here in the future. I give my full support to Usukan. Still development could be faster.

All good for you Funsponge

Im coming on here to say my farewell to you all at Ultracoin.

I invested at the ICO and got my first UTC from Bumface and have been an avid Ultracoin support and promoter and even ran/run the Ultracoin twitter account but its time for a reality check. I've invested $12k in the last 2.5 years in UTC and i know i'm never going to get that back, so cutting my losses whist I can and taking it as a hard lesson learnt. I invested that much money as at the time of purchase ultracoin promised so much at the start. the fastest crypto created (7 second transactions), listing on btc-e.com, full time developer, marketing budget etc etc

I'm a long term investor and was never looking for quick profits. I do and will continue to invest in altcoins I see as being at the forefront of altcoin technology, but its over guys for me on Ultracoin. The only people left are bag holders hoping it gets pumped by a whale. The daily volume constantly is getting lower and lower many days go by and not a single dollar is spent on Ultracoin. Who would want to own it? Ultracoin doesn't even have a developer or a plan. Its failing further and further behind all other coins. Other altcoins have marketing teams, 5-6 developers, full time social media managers, funding/investors. They have created pegging systems, smart contracts etc etc.

All Ultracoin has is about 5 community members, a logo and a dreadful outdated wallet.

Ultracoin is never going to get any real world use.To stand a change it needs to be in the 20 Altcoins at least, and be on all the exchanges to get the following and community.

I really wanted this to work but sometimes in life you have to take an educated risk and this risk didn't work out for me. Sorry guys Good luck for the future in whatever you all do.

Welcome back Steven. Good to know you are allright.

I will continue my support to Usukan and committee is very good idea. I hope that @Emerge can join to this Committee.

Thanks Usukan, you are the best.

I hope the Committee understand that informing this forum is very important (several time in week period). Talk even weather if there is nothing else to say.

Nice to see so active community and talent people here. UTC is doing fresh booting and I really like what I see. I am not going to miss old devteam. I hope that Usukan will find time to develop and help UTC for new start. I will give my full support to Usukan.

Bret - thanks for your idea and offer of help.

How to get people to use it?

See what support you get here from active community members - if there is support move to next stage.

Ask yourself if you are really willing to take this on and go the distance - it will be a lot of work with often criticism from some here.
Ask yourself - do I really know how to do this - cos if you screw it up it could be the end of UTC.
Do you have colleagues to support you in this?  Do you have a network of experienced people to call on for advice?

If so - (just a brainstorm)

Redo the code

First test it to make sure it works - including staking.

Publish on your Github

Get consensus here for a fork via votes from active members. Maybe time to start a new BitcoinTalk thread that is owned/moderated by the now active community.

Don't forget that the miners have to agree to mine it - or nothing will happen. If the miners and the pool don't want to change nothing will happen - unless there is a new pool for the forked UTC-2 version and miners willing to follow here.

Announce a fork here (or on new forum)

Make sure Alenevaa has his one and only pool ready with new code - and that he will let miners know that its going to fork. - there are only 2-6 miners as far as I can tell?
http://utc14.yacoin.club/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

Make sure Bittrex has the new wallet (and anywhere else its traded)

Release the wallet for download at least 2 weeks before fork so everyone has time to swap over.

Fork it and cross your fingers.

Not my area of expertise but I support your endeavours and will respect other opinion from community - and if it works I will send you a stash of UTC from the new wallet.  Others may wish to do the same.

What are the thoughts from other ACTIVE members?

Cheers - usukan

I was just looking at the latest (current) retarget changes on github and I believe I found the issue with the retarget.

Firstly, there's

static const int64 nMaxAdjustDownV5 = 16; // 16% adjustment down
static const int64 nMaxAdjustUpV5 = 12; // 12% adjustment up

which means the diff can change as much as 16% down and 12% up which would be fine (I guess) but one problem is that this 16%/12% retarget happens every single block and it's always the maximum amount of change as far as I can see, not small changes.

Second problem is that once it overshots the difficulty and the blockchain stalls for like half a day and then finally a block is found, the difficulty won't decrease right away.

If I had to guess it's caused by this:

static const int64 nAveragingInterval5 = 240; // 240 blocks, 4 hours

which I'd guess means the difficulty average is based on the last 240 blocks meaning a bunch of super high (or super low) difficulty blocks has to be mined before the difficulty retarget starts adjusting - and when it does it overcompensates.

I might be completely wrong but I believe if the difficulty retarget wouldn't happen every single block, but maybe every 10 blocks or so then everything should be fine. Thoughts?

I'll take a look and see what I can do. When I do get a new wallet built, how do we get people to use it?

Situation seems to be quite bad. I know one way to contact Kracko. I hope they will stop hiding. Kracko can be found from linkedin.

best regards
Valpe

If you hold any meaningful amount of UTC, I'd suggest spamming the devs to wake them up or organizing a takeover.

Yeah I think Steven has disappeared - end of the line until the takeover occurs unless Steven and a new dev or devs magically appears from the mist.
[/b]

unfortunately, this coin no longer has any "devs" to speak of. afaik kracko has stepped down (and rightfully so as from what i gather his schedule doesn't permit addressing such issues). Steven is a PR manager, and aleneeva is a pool operator...so there is no actual coin developer for UTC anymore.

Its been a long time (relatively) since I stepped away from all things UTC, but have followed along with this tragic tale. I know there are plenty of UTC bagholders out there just waiting for the grass to magically become greener...but that just doesn't happen out of sheer will. Unless someone (or a collective of persons) wants to front out the cold hard BTC to fix this shitstorm, then bagholders you shall remain.

The Devs must take responsibility right now and inform us !

They must take action very soon to organize and fix the technical problems and to set UTC back on track.

Steven and Kracko are hiding and that’s a bad thing.

UTC and the UTC community doesn’t deserve this. Too many people has invested in UTC.

We all must spamming the devs indeed. so they wake up and start taking action again.

Or the Devs must post here that they want to stop and that they want to find a new Dev team for takeover.

If Steven doesn’t let hear anything i guess it would not be hard to confront him in real life and ask him why he is absent.

Steven's family name is findable one this forum and i heard somewhere he is a manager of  a view supermarkets.

So it would not be very hard to find out were he lives and speak to him in real life, from face to face, and have a serious business conversation about the future of UTC

You are so right.  Smiley
I see something very nice here.

It' not complicated. It's simple supply and demand. As long as the supply (mining/POS) outpaces the demand (adoption/spending) the price/value will continue to suffer and no amount of future planning will change that. JMHO.

agreed, it doesn't help when the people mining dump their UTC for BTC. Mine and hold!

If we all sing from the same hymn sheet think what we can achieve
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: May 15, 2015, 03:08:45 PM
Thanks Kracko. Keep up good work  Cheesy

The newer CPUs and GPUs coming out are shifting to higher cache/vram. When new technology comes out, it will definitely help your coin to be the most profitable for those who are willing to spend more capital on new products. Otherwise, people who have had their GPUs for years will just simply mine and dump your coin, and they won't even have to worry about ROI at this point...

Convinced yet?

Not particularly.

I hear what you are saying and understand your position of maintaining the nFactor schedule as it is integral to the original design of our coins.  I just don't believe that the progression of Scrypt-ChaCha's nFactor is worth keeping.  It's not like it has worked so well for YAC.  I like the concept of keeping up with hardware advances, but the schedule leaves much to be desired and causes more havoc with each increment than it's really worth.  Being forced to upgrade hardware to keep up with an arbitrary schedule is actually less profitable for miners. I am actually fine with those people using their same GPUs.  Whether incrementing the nFactor or not, as long as it is profitable there are going to be miners whose sole purpose is to mine and dump your coin.  As non-altruistic as they are, they are still providing a service to the network.  I would prefer to not make their lives more difficult- at least to the point to where ASICs are discouraged.  There will still be an advantage for those that upgrade even staying at one nFactor.  But, they should be competing against each other more than against ever increasing memory requirements.

I am not a dev but is it possible to change POS algo so that mobile devices can stake w/o problem or use of latest bitcoin 0.10 way of verifying blocks to ease the problem on ARM processors if we are not already using that?

Being more ARM friendly was only one of the reasons.  But it can be worked around by sacrificing security through trusting and offloading the hashing requirements onto external servers.  It's really the initial synch that's the issue.  Validating hashes on individual blocks for mobile devices isn't that bad.  Hashing over a million of them is.  Things slow down quite a bit around NF12/13.

Personally I do not understand at all this hassle with N.
There was sheduled N change. All know what day and hour next N change. But now, it is like "who knows, it depends weathers"

Now someones want manipulate this N. Perhaps soon some peoples are not satisfied and other day other peoples are not satisfied and then agen N change out from original schedule. Who can trust and what?

YAC coin  have changet to N15 as scheduled, then it have changed to N16 and no problem, works like charm. Just aftrer some days it is going to N17.

Why N16 is problem with UTC?  Perhaps next day some group of peoples want change algoritm also. After this N factor game who can trust what is coming next. After UTC launch there have been N time schedule. Today it can think this schedule was "perhaps" schedule or just fake schedule. When some "insider" group start adjust coin for them selves it do not promise very good for future.

My opinion is that this game with N value is mistake.

How about hockey where you should change the rules mid-game. Or, if a hockey goal, the location could abruptly change if someone wants.

I'm glad your experience with the Nfactor increases has worked out so well.  I find it's only a momentary hassle to find new settings that work with my hardware as well.  Unfortunately this is not universal.

This isn't a hockey game, this is crypto.  The game and even the rules change all the time.  And many coins have reinvented themselves to successful results.   It's not about adjusting the coin for an "insider" group, it's about making the coin flourish, which benefits all of us.  Stagnating along the same path as YAC is not going to be very good for the future.  We need to differentiate ourselves- carve out our own niche.
