141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we afford to lose touch with money? on: July 16, 2015, 03:59:16 AM
One of the biggest contributing factors to debt in the world, is the fact that we have literally lost touch with our money. The wide acceptance of payment methods where you do not physically trade with something you touch, for example Credit cards, debit cards and electronic money, could make it easier to spend money.

In South Africa, a company is testing this theory with a reality series, where the contestants are given their monthly salary in coins. The idea behind this is to see what impact this has on the spending habits of these people, when they pay for everything in physical coins.

Question 1 : If Bitcoin or Crypto currencies replace fiat, would you spend more or less?

Question 2 : Do you think physical contact with your money, makes you spend less?

Question 3 : Would we have less debt, if we paid for everything in fiat?

I think you have a great point. My girlfriend doesnt like to spend money but loves to save. She keeps her money in a bank and only withdraws when she needs to pay/buy something and only uses to pay with card when there us no option (she wont use it if there us a fee) so i think she sees her bank as a secure place for her money to stay...plus she never bought anything online. So having physical money makes you spend less and omline possibilities make you spend more. And if there were no credit cards we wouldnt spend much as well but thats a long story...in my opinion credit destroyed usa and than the world. Wink

143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT a currency debate! on: July 15, 2015, 09:04:32 PM
Bitcoin is NOT a currency!

In it's simplest form it is just payment rails. Stop thinking about is as currency and what is left to regulate?

If a merchant selling a pair of jeans for $250 accepts a 1 bitcoin and customer 2 weeks later asks for a refund with a value of a bitcoin going up to $300. Is he going to get 1 bitcoin back or a value of the jeans he bought? Naturally, the value, which means 3/4 of a bitcoin at the time of the refund. So, how does it make bitcoin a currency. ITS NOT!

What do you think?

Ok you buy jeans for 300 usd and the fed prints tons of money you return the jeans and get 300 usd but those 300 arent worth 300. Because of the printing the jeans now cost 400

What if someone made exact copy of bitcoin? Exactly the same way bitcoin works and created new bitcoins. Would the miners see it and not let the transations trough or is this possible?
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin account with routing #? on: July 14, 2015, 07:21:52 PM
I dont see the need for that. Just remember when to pay. Just the idea that someone is allowed to take money from you automaticly is nasty Wink

150  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin compare to fiat in future on: July 11, 2015, 08:40:27 PM
Hi everyone,
Many people believe that bitcoin will be worth 1000 or 10,000 or even 1 million one day...and i hope it will be but my question/though is
If fiat fails/collapses or the worlds economy goes to S**t and bitcoin price goes up...therefore even if bitcoin is worth 10,000 dollars you will only buy 1 gallon of milk with it. And if all that happens and bitcoin becomes the currency of the world all prices will adjust to bitcoin not to fiat/bitcoin.

Just a thought...

151  Economy / Gambling / bitcoin dice randomness on: July 11, 2015, 03:15:53 PM
Hello everyone Smiley
Another beginners question, i have came along these dice websites. Is it possible to win any bitcoin with these games or is it just like a pub machine. I have tried some probabilities calculations and it says it should be random but doesnt really look like it.

If i roll under 90 ten times i always got 1 wrong which by math makes sence but than the script/machine/game is not fair because in all randomness if i roll 100 times it should be possible to have 100% winnings.

Thank you for answers...if you got secret tricks PM me Wink

Address 17ABrUpBNURhgiSfTuRvtpMDEXwivcdCZ has 0.991871 BTC in it, if it isn't showing up in your wallet there's something wrong with the wallet.

oooo

At first i was sure that 17ABrUpBNURhgiSfTuRvtpMDEXwivcdCZ isnt my wallet. but when i clicked "change addresses" i saw it....but why did this transation happened without me doing it?

change addresses are used for security. each time you send bitcoin the remaining balance will be split to change addresses.

Thank you for clearing that up Smiley this thread can be closed Wink

Hello,
I have a fun idea for bitcoin cummunity but it involves gambling. I live in uk...what are the requeirements to run a gambling website? (only bitcoin) do i have to be registered somewhere and pay taxes? Btw non-profit...

Thanks

A non-profit gambling site would be impossible because a gambling site would generate revenues continuously and you can call it profits. Unless you won't bag the earnings for yourself (or you would donate the earnings to a charity or whatever) then you can say that your gambling site is non-profit.

Yup as i posted few seconds before your post Smiley

You got me within a few seconds I guess. Smiley May I know what kind of charitable institution are you planning to give the earnings? Kinda curious in this one actually.

Its just an idea and the charity is not choosen yet. Since bitcoin is taken as currency i have to decide if i want to really get into it and register the gambling site

You have a quite extensive answer about that issue here : http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/Gambling-sectors/Online/Getting-a-licence/Applying-for-a-licence/How-do-I-apply/How-do-I-apply.aspx
This first part of it pretty much sums it up:

"You need an operating licence from the Gambling Commission if:
you currently run or want to run a gambling service through remote communication (including online gambling) and any part of your remote equipment is based in Great Britain or
when the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising ) Act 2014 is implemented (1 November 2014) your remote equipment is based outside Great Britain and you advertise remote gambling to consumers in Britain through a British-facing business."

btw i think that if you move this to gambling section, you may receive better responses.
One think tho; how is it involving gambling, but remains a non-profit? You should include more details to enable us to understand and assist you better.

cheers

Thank you for the link its very helpful but my concern is about bitcoins involvment. Is bitcoin considered a currency and therefore i need the gambling licence? What if i do gambling site just about "internet points" do i need a licence as well? Non profit as that profit from gambling will be donated towards something therefore i as a creator wont keep anything.
